Dude! I was in Mons, BE from 1979 - 1982 working at NATO HQ. For my 22nd birthday I gave myself tickets to the Led Zeppelin concert in Brussels. As 'Trampled Under Foot' finished they all left the stage except Jimmy Page. He sat on a stool under a purple spotlight, the only light in the auditorium, and just jammed. Wonderful! Unseen by anyone, in the darkness the rest of them reset themselves on stage. Jimmy hits a long, low note....it gradually climbs into a really high scream, feeding back thru the amps, echoing throughout the place!! As it stops the only light, the purple spot, goes out and for a split second it's dead silence in total blackness. Suddenly three huge flash charges on stage blow up and they go right into 'Kashmir'! It's like, "BOOM!!! Duh-da-duh, Duh-da-duh, DUH-DA-DUH" I still get goose bumps when I think about it, and that was 45 years ago. Wow, now I DO feel 'old'. LOL!

I love "Kashmir". My favorite version is the live performance from the 2007 Celebration Day Concert held in London's O2 Arena. Even at their advanced age, they still knock it out of the park. Also, the late John Bonham's son, Jason, fills in for his dad at drums and kills it! Enjoy!!!
God I hope he sees this and checks it out. This version is still great as a Zepp fan, but studio quality is a whole nother level and def deserves a proper listen.
absolutely agree ! @@chadheckman2693 --- that O2 version is hands down, going away, mic drop the best Kashmir ever. The last flight of the Zeppelin - Jason just slayed the drums - and Mr. "I don't want to live in the past" Plant got with it on that one and the chemistry whole gestalt thing towards the end --- outstanding in every way.
When you realize that the verses are in 6/8 time versus 4/4 for the drums as a constant, and their genius is even more impressive. Music of the gods, right here.
The lead guitar player is the great Jimmy Page. He is A LEGEND. Classically trained in guitar. He did a ton of work before writing hits for Led. He is a LEGEND.
The only classically trained guitarists in rock I`m aware of are John McLaughlin and Mick Ronson.I`m fairly certain Jimmy Page wasn`t.McLaughlin had an influence in jazz fusion,as did Jeff Beck and jazz guitarists, like Al Di Meola veered into rock music.
From what little I know, Jimmy was a studio/session guitarist. Played with/for many singers, groups, and whatever came along. He was well versed in numerous styles of music before he became part of Led Zeppelin. I know nothing of any formal training he may or may not have had, but he was well versed in a lot of different guitar techniques, which (fortunately for all of us) led to his unique contribution to LZ.
They do this live like 20-25 years later and it’s unreal! Soooo great! With Jason Bonham on drums! Check it out!! Love the great and mighty Zeppelin!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ rest in peace Bonzo!!

OMG you REALLY need to listen to the studio version of Kashmir with the lyrics. I don't always suggest the lyrics, but in the case of Kashmir I'll make an exception. Whenever I hear these live versions, they just miss so much. The studio version is just a different, more emotional journey.
I love Led Zeppelin !!! I'm 60 years old and still jam to them. There are a lot more of their songs you will love !!😊 Just go down the rabbit hole and see. 🤗🤗🤗
I was 11 years old when I first heard Led Zepplin's III on 8-track tape... Honestly, their music was present in every memorable event of my life after that day. Still an old head-banger. Tool is a favorite of mine, as well. How about "Forty-Six and 2"?😎
You should start at the beginning of their 1st album and go all the way through their albums - in chronical order. They have some live pro shot video to watch as well. This video was a bit more than half through their career. The drummer passed away five years and four months after this video was shot. Please start at the beginning with these guys. I just subscribed to your channel. Nice review. They were the biggest and best selling band of the 1970s. They knocked The Beatles out of No 1 in 1970. 😮 🙂🙌
From watching several of your videos I can see how much you enjoy Led Zeppelin. You should check out Heart singing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy center at Led Zeppelin’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 😎😎😎
Summer of 1973...Chicago Stadium...this was my first concert at 14 yrs old. Waited in line over night for tickets. Got 8th row center stage. That was the way to buy tickets back then. What a party!
Zeppelin is great. I wouldn’t compare them with Tool. To me Tool is more of a modern version of Motörhead. My favorite Zeppelin tune is, The Battle of Evermore. It’s epic in scope and ties in imagery of Tolkien. Love the content, Polo. Keep killing it!!
My all-time favorite Zeppelin track of all time. Pure genius! I'm so glad you found them. It would be a shame to go through life missing out on this. ❤
JiMmy Page is, I believe, the best lead guitarist ever. Listen to Stairway to Heaven, Immigrant Song, when the levee breaks. There are so many..love love love this😊
Whoever is mixing the live audio deserves a god damn medal! If you notice the sound and vocals were a bit rough at the beginning but it got exponentially better and better as they played...
My brother, I joined in at the intro. You know from my past comments how long i've been into Zep, so all i can say is your about to go on a special musical trip! Love to you and your family!
All four members of Led Zeppelin are some of the best at what they play or do. They are not like anyone else and they are truly special I'm sure everyone is going to tell you that the studio version of this song is 🔥 but you know they are just going to kill it. Their love show was magic and when John Bonham the drummer died they broke up because they didn't think they could get anyone to learn the feel of the band. Awesome stuff.
This song is so beautiful. apparently he went to Morocco, but Kashmir sounds cooler so he called the song Kashmir but it’s such a beautiful song and it’s so musically complicated. You should definitely listen to no Quarter by Led Zeppelin, which I know Tool did cover, so you can have a difference.
Hell yeah! I'm down for this rabbit hole. Led Zeppelin probably is the best band ever. One of a few bands where a member can't be replaced without fundamentally altering the band. Expect constant changes with Blues, Rock, Funk inspired. Listen to the studio version of Good Times Bad Times. Their first song on their first release. They came out SWINGING!!!!! Also, In My Time of Dying, Whole Lotta Love, Dazed and Confused.... Honestly, this video isn't the best intro to them if you can believe that. When it's all said and done, Led Zeppelin probably DOES have the best discography of any rock band out there. After a few songs, you will have them as the best.
@@MsAppassionata I can respect your thoughts, but Queen does have the discography to hang with anybody. Their concerts were amazing! My first concert actually. They definitely have a top spot in the rock genre. I'm sure we both have bands in our top ranks that history supports. Queen is definitely in the same ballpark. And I believe anybody alive from The Beatles and Zeppelin would agree. Each member of Queen wrote #1 hits, no other group ever did that.
Im telling you... when I saw Plant on his own... Still blew me so far out of this universe........ just MIND BLOWING!!! Id like to know if they ever perform anymore... cause Id be there......❤️❤️❤️
I’m all in for this journey! Might be a good idea to start with their first album and progress so you can hear their changes from album to the next. They were very influential for their time and years ahead of everyone else to include being influences to music in general to this day.
You need to hear the studio version of this song, this is their masterpiece, but this live version is still great. Then the live version of Stairway to Heaven, this one is the greatest song ever. :)
No! The best, recorded version, is at Knebworth 1979, when they, still, were together! And, believe me, i hate that concert, because, Page, Bonzo, were taking heroin, and, the whole band, they were taking too much cocaïne....They were, really, not good as at the beginning, the link between them was not the same anymore.....But, yet, they were better than any other band in the world! Yes, the celebration day version, is great, but, it's not LED ZEP! Jason Bonham is not, and, will never be, John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham! Watch the Celebration day's version, and after the Knebworth's version! Compare! You will understand!
@@julienmarquet8612 im well aquainted with the knebworth gigs, (the best version of achilles last stand is from there) but i disagree, it was good but a bit flat compared to the celebration day performance, we are splitting hairs a bit though ps afaik bonzo wasnt on heroin (pafge was and it ruined his playing) , he was alcoholic. bonzo was still amazing right up to his death! his drumming on the later albums is incredible

Lol but for real they are deep and wise and the heartbeat of them JOHN PAUL JONES is a master.................
Plant isn't a top 5 rock/metal vocalist.
So true ❤
Polo the the thing is with Zeppelin they’re always taking you on journey ❤
Their live version at the O2 Arena is the definitive Kashmir, and they were in their 60s years of age when they did their final concert.
Hell yes
THEY TORN THE PAINT OFF THE WALL!! HEAVY!!
There isn't a fuckin universe were I choose freakin Jason over thee goat. 79 version is WAY better imo. He did kill it tho.
I think the audio quality here is a bit rough and that takes away something.
*BINGO !*
OMG you REALLY need to listen to the studio version of Kashmir with the lyrics. I don't always suggest the lyrics, but in the case of Kashmir I'll make an exception. Whenever I hear these live versions, they just miss so much. The studio version is just a different, more emotional journey.
Yet I prefer the Power that comes across in the 2007 O2 live recorded version.
Definitely must listen to the studio version! Maybe my favorite song of all time!
Lead Singer. Robert Plant, Drummer, John Bonham, Bass, John Paul Jones, And Jimmy Page on Guitar. All are legends.
How about "Forty-Six and 2"?😎
I love to see the response of ‘kids’ that have never heard LZ. 🤩
Studio versions for first listens, please, especially Led Zeppelin. Welcome to this rabbit hole we’ve all been in since the 60’s.
I second this motion.
The best rock musicians in the world! "Since I've Been Lovin You" (studio version first).
I am getting to know Led Zeppelin all over again. Yes. I was there at the begining!! Never to old to rock n' roll!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Mr, Polo.
My favourite drummer ever. ❤
One word!!!! Amazing!! In any language in the universe
When you listen to their album, it tells a story. All their albums.
THE MOST AWESOME SONG, DEFINATELY MY FAVORITE FROM THEM!!
I believe that "Kashmir" is the Ultimate Led Zeppelin song.
Yeeha!!! Hey everybody it’s the GOATS!!! Here we go, time to get on the Zep train!! Studio version after this version is a must my friend!!¡
Led Zeppelin live Denmark 1969 will blow your mind Polo! Just watch it and enjoy! Welcome to the party!!! Love your vids too man thanks
Saw them in 1970 Syracuse NY
The best band of all time. Albums and albums of killer tracks.
From watching several of your videos I can see how much you enjoy Led Zeppelin. You should check out Heart singing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy center at Led Zeppelin’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 😎😎😎
One of my all-time favorites songs from Led Zeppelin - Black Dog. You won’t regret it🎸 🪘
Words can’t explain how iconic this song is….🤯
My favorite
Too and Led Zeppelin are very different but i love them both!
I had the privilege of going to see led Zeppelin in 1978.
WOW!!!
Amazing video. We're connecting with a young man whose connecting with a band from our time - for the first time. Pure connection!🌀🌬
This group was always fantastic!
Fav song!
Summer of 1973...Chicago Stadium...this was my first concert at 14 yrs old. Waited in line over night for tickets. Got 8th row center stage. That was the way to buy tickets back then. What a party!
You my friend, at a young and tender age, witnessed magic and greatness.
Totally Gifted ! 🎉 All are in Led Zeppelin. Amazing 👏 Penny and David
I love that Polo just gets entranced and enjoys long stretches of this performance.
I’m 74 and I have had a mad crush on Jimmy Page most of my life. He has been voted the top guitar player ever many, many times. So cool.
There are so many..love love love this😊
Thank You is the most Beautiful Love Song I've ever heard!!!!
Whoever is mixing the live audio deserves a god damn medal! If you notice the sound and vocals were a bit rough at the beginning but it got exponentially better and better as they played...
That would be Jimmy Page.
My brother, I joined in at the intro. You know from my past comments how long i've been into Zep, so all i can say is your about to go on a special musical trip! Love to you and your family!
Legends! ❤️
The greatest rock band to grace the stage.
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band..
Led Zeppelin are rock Gods. Full stop 🤘
TOOL has a cover of Led Zeppelin No Quarter!
Both versions are awesome!
It’s just another of many timeless masterpieces by LZ.
It’s also Robert and Jimmy’s fave from what I hear…
Check out Kashmir 2007 live from Celebration Day. Also the late drummers son actually takes his dads place. Great performance.
No one will ever replicate the impact of the original studio sound of this song - not even Zeppelin.
All four members of Led Zeppelin are some of the best at what they play or do. They are not like anyone else and they are truly special
I'm sure everyone is going to tell you that the studio version of this song is 🔥 but you know they are just going to kill it. Their love show was magic and when John Bonham the drummer died they broke up because they didn't think they could get anyone to learn the feel of the band.
Awesome stuff.
Life CHANGING!!! Changed me in high school!!
Love my ZEP!!!
My favorite Led Zeppelin song!
"Whole Lotta Love" and "Dazed and Confused" were STOLEN!! LOLOL... shows their greatness
@@wichitadisciple9874 That's actually why I consider Queen as the greatest ever. I'm aware of LZ's use of others music.
100% if he loves John Bonhams drumming he should watch Moby Dick!
The Beatles are the best. Zeppelin is my second favorite though. Imo Queen ain’t even in the same ballpark as those two bands.
The best live version of this is from celebration day in 2007 when they were old men. They KILLED it that night
AGREE 100%. The quality of the sound and performance is the best! Amazing how good they sounded after all these years.
knebworth
@@julienmarquet8612 im well aquainted with the knebworth gigs, (the best version of achilles last stand is from there) but i disagree, it was good but a bit flat compared to the celebration day performance, we are splitting hairs a bit though
ps afaik bonzo wasnt on heroin (pafge was and it ruined his playing) , he was alcoholic. bonzo was still amazing right up to his death! his drumming on the later albums is incredible
Thought that was 94 .
Polo it wasn't on this reaction. But you started off with I love senior citizens LOL! I'm 60 yrs old now and I love talking older folks and you are right young man! I'm not bragging but I have a few stories to tell. My sons will listens to my life experiences and advice. Keep doing what you do love your reactions truly genuine.
Cheers from
San Diego Calif 619😎
The Mighty Led Zeppelin was know for improvising alot in their live shows never playing a song the same way twice. I once had tickets to see Led Zeppelin when I was 14 years old but sadly the drummer died and the tour was cancelled...
Saw em 7 times…cried like a baby when Bonham died cause I knew it was over…
I had tickets to the show in Pittsburgh for October 1980 😢😢😢. Oh the sad memories of Sept 30, 1980 😭💔
I'm almost 58, my sister is 12 years older than me and I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin on vinyl! To this day they are still my favorite band
Mine also and I'm 67 and saw them in 1973
i like the studio version a lot more
The song "Come to me" was from Puff Daddy played with Jimmy Page. Also fantastic version. This version was used in the movie, Godzilla".
