The rhythm section in this band is second to NONE. Having that level of drum and bass is just insane from the start but when you consider how perhaps the least renowned member of this band, John Paul Jones, was already an arranger and keyboard player and multi-instrumentalist for many many other bands before Led Zeppelin- HUNDREDS of sessions as studio director, music director, and worked with the absolute cream of the crop of bands from this era... it starts to give you an understanding of the DEPTH of this bands musical virtuosity. His Wikipedia page is pretty mind-boggling.

Considering half the riffs they ripped off were from blues artists, including Page using Joan Baez cords for Babe I am going to Leave you , and Spirits guitar part for Stairway to Heavan I am not so sure they are the greatest in contrast to the Beatles who were far more experimental and diverse in song writing. That said I am still a big fan of theirs.

Have been singing this albums praises for a few years. The 2016 remasters did wonders for this album, that’s when I rediscovered it lol.
Was always my least fave . Now it’s ranks top led zeppelin for me.

I've been listening to this song (and their other music) for more than 36 years and it never gets old, it never feels stale, and nothing out there past or present can compare. I'm so glad you hear every element because that's part of the true appreciation of getting why it's so good.

Zeppelin were the masters of witholding, but hinting as to what is to come in the song. They like to build, to play, to create tension then release that tension, only to go higher on the next musical cycle. If you like what they're doing early in the song, it's only a sneak preview of where they're going, where they will take you.

Keep in mind, I was only 5 y/o when this song came out, but it was on regular rotation on the radio stations and is part of the soundtrack of my life. I feel so blessed to witness another generation hear/experience it and be moved as I was at 5 and I'm still moved at 52years old. True good music is timeless (as it comes from the soul), I think you are beginning to understand that. Beautiful reaction.❤

Can you imagine hearing this blaring out of car in the high school parking lot? I got to experience this stuff. I knew it was great, but as the years and decades have gone by, I really recognize how good it really was. We took this music for granted. We had every expectation this kind of greatness would continue. But it didn't. At least we (and everybody else) can listen to it. It has stood the test of time. I have my memories and all that from then. But, those memories have been somewhat been replaced by seeing the generations after me getting into this.
I love the off-kilterness of Bonham's drums. He was brilliant.

They were the shiznit ! May 31st - the drummer, John Bonham, would've been 75 yrs old. The syncopated bass n drums are incredible.
Robert absolutely murdered that harmonica. The singing, guitar and bass are off the hook !
    Great reaction man ! ❤
