In high school from 1972. I began listening to Zeppelin abums in 73 and since I lived in nowhere USA in northern Illinois we basically never really saw or knew much of bands except for the music. Zeppelin was my favorite because of their music. So above anyone else to this day. Only now I can see them and watch concerts online here on RUclips. It has given me what I did not have access to in the 70s.
Yes! And to expand on that, over 20,000,000 people put into the lottery hoping to score one of the available 20,000 tickets. An unprecedented phenomenon… just like the band itself.
Thanks! As a hardcore Led Zeppelin fan it is enjoyable watching you react to their music with an open mind and appreciating their musical genius. I would love to see and hear what you think of a couple other songs. Please take a listen to "Since I've Been Loving You" live at Madison Square Garden in New York City in July 1973, and 'Dazed and Confused' in front of a sold out crowd, live at Royal Albert Hall in 1970. I look forward to your reactions and reviews.
Plant always said it was baed on a vacation him and Page made to the Middle East in early 70s. They were driving through the desert and it went very long and what was known a white dream got Robert Plant and he saw both the beauty of the land and the mysticism of the white dream that was invading the mind from the heat, sun and desert. The trip made a huge impression on both musicians and in the 90s they went back and recorded some music with the people there. I don't remember the album but, you can find videos of it on here. Just put in Plant and page. You can scroll through it and find some videos. As for Zeppelin videos you can do Trampled Underfoot, the Ocean, Misty Mountain hop, When the Levy Breaks and Since you Went Away. But, basically anything you do from live Zeppelin is going to be amazing since they never did crap. They were the best band and full of GOATs. Musicianship and songwriting were way above par.

But here a few months ago, I pulled it up on a whim and really paid attention to what was going on, and it was like I was hearing it for the first time. Lyrics aside, the way this song is constructed, and how you're basically "yanked" from one chorus to the next, only to have everything start all over again and again. . . Simply ingenious. And as awesome as this live performance is, the studio version, what with its orchestra backing, is also worth listening to.

Diane, just something I've not read in the comments so far. JPJ on the keyboards is playing the Bass riff with his feet using pedals. (The man is multitalented). Enjoyed your reaction.
People wonder why disco grew to be so hated. It's not that disco is necessarily that bad, it's just that it crowded truly great music like this off of the airwaves.

Kashmir has always been one of my favorite Zeppelin songs. It just has such a mystical atmosphere to it. It's awesome that you're enjoying this musical journey, Diane.

I've seen pretty much every live version of the song and this might be the best ever recorded. Even in his 60's Robert Plant still sounds amazing, he can't hit the very high notes he used to but he's so much more in tune with his voice that it resonates in a completely different way.
Kashmir is known to me more through its use in many films, than as a stand along song. It is great for building tension and seems perfect in so many soundtracks. Robert Plant vocals seemed more like another instrument in the mix than a method of conveying a story. To be honest, I found many of the lyrics unintelligible, so never bothered to learn what they were. This reaction told me some of what the interpretations were and still don't care. The overall musicality of the song is what I love. Diane was once again groovin to the beat and that made this reaction even better. Chewie just wanted Diane to feed him, he don't need no background music to enjoy diner. Enjoyed this I did.
The song makes more sense the second time if you listen to version with captions & lyrics. I couldn't make heads or tails of what Plant was saying the first time I heard it either!

I've heard the original song of Led Zeppelin Kashmir. This is my first time hearing the live theatre version on celebration day. I am so glad I got to hear it for the first time with You. You have been helping me expand my musical journey too that brings me great happy joy.
I remember Led Zeppelin from the 70's, I was 16 years old in 1976 when their movie The Song Remains The Same came out, and I was blown away by it. A few of my friends and I all smoked a bunch of weed and went to see it in the theater, and it was awesome. They had 3 of the best ever, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Bonham.
This review of Classic rock n roll is very positive like all Classical music. The first time I heard Kashmir was on the Celebration Day album. I was totally blown away, it stood out vividly amongst the other songs. Then I heard earlier versions but this takes the cake. Well done Lass !! ❤❤
At 7:00 it is interesting see Plant changed the lyrics. Instead of singing "Leave the path that led me to that place" he sings "Who is the band that led me to this place" while pointing to Jones and Page. Lovely little tribute
After jamming out to good music Chewie does need a good dinner and some water. Having dinner in house, Chewie doesn't have to wait in venue lines to get his food. Chewie's Shangri las is being in a store with all the foods and a chef serving the foods.
An absolute rock classic. One of the greatest numbers ever. It beats 'Stairway' all of the way. (I love Stairway as well) My good friend is in a pub quiz team with Robert (when he is not touring) She always tells me about the evening. Not gonna say where the club is before anyone asks !
WOW! Just Grand, Diane! I was fortunate enough to see LZ a few times and I can attest that seeing bands live is just a life thrill that's hard to beat. Yes, it is Theatre; of the Mind, of the Ears, and also of the Soul. A number of concerts have literally change my life, all for the better! It is certainly a blast to watch you react to the music I grew up with and enjoy. This is actually the fourth LZ song you've done (Whole Lotta Love, Immigrant Song, Stairway to Heaven) and the journey has only just begun. About 50 songs on, it's like a handful of sand from the modern music beach! I look forward to the next great experience you have to share. Rock On, Irish Girl! Let's Dance!! 💃🕺🥳
You have to listen to "Since i've been loving you" live from Madison Square Garden.. ruclips.net/video/4gT63xovuWE/видео.html you'll like watching Robert on this one..
Musical artists with real talent are just as good or better performing live. This is a good example. Hmm, a video featuring a London based performance. I sense foreshadowing...🤔
Shangri las was a also a girl band in the 1960s. they have a lot of good jams. I think of them as the original spice girls group the came out in the 1990s. The best album to listen too the Shangri's Las the complete collection their songs are really good.
The video you watched has the original drummer's son on drums. When LED lost their drummer John Bohnam, the band disbanded because they felt he was irreplaceable. It was so good to see them get back together with his son. If you want to try a bit different take of them listen to the song Battle of Evermore. I see you reacted to Stairway to Heaven, you should also check out the Kennedy Center Honors LED Zepplen. The last song of the award ceremony was done by Heart, along with a full orchestra and choir, it is a tear jerker. Jason Bohnam, John's son, made a surprise appearance and played the drums for the song. Best cover ever.
As always, Patreon and channel memberships allow these copyright claimed/demonetized videos to continue. For context, Kashmir is a region in Northern India, and Ahmet Ertegun was a record executive who first signed Led Zeppelin to Atlantic Records. He died in 2006, and the tribute concert this video comes from was in 2007. I've never been a fan of Led Zeppelin. Just too bombastic for my tastes. (And yet I like the even more bombastic Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Go figure.) I am familiar with the band and like bits and pieces OK, but I wouldn't go out of my way to hear them. Also, my evil ex-wife liked them, and this song in particular, so there's that...
Great song by one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. So glad you enjoyed it. Next on your musical jouney, ZZ Top. You might try the song Sharp Dressed Man to begin.
I also knew the intro guitar riff, but I don't think I've ever heard the rest of the song. Not sure what the lyrics are, I really can't understand him.
An interesting fact for you, Diane. The drummer in the performance you watched is Jason Bonham, the son of the original drummer John Bonham. Love these videos. Keep up the great work,Diane.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Gettin' the Led Out! Luv me some LZ! I will beat this one to death, but please give 'Since I've Been Loving You' live at Madison Square Garden 1973 a listen. Master class jam! ❤ Led Zeppelin. That concert was epic! Try out the group OK Go. I know you will like them.
Jeez, Dont forget J.P.J., who was a clasically trained musician, & equally as good as the other 3.
Same. And I am the same age too.
Such an amazing song. I have zero music ability so it blows my mind that someone can just create this song from nothing.
That’s a really beautiful way of looking at it!
This review of Classic rock n roll is very positive like all Classical music. The first time I heard Kashmir was on the Celebration Day album. I was totally blown away, it stood out vividly amongst the other songs. Then I heard earlier versions but this takes the cake. Well done Lass !! ❤❤
What is there left to say? It checks every box as one of the most important masterworks in rock history. Fun reaction.
At 7:00 it is interesting see Plant changed the lyrics. Instead of singing "Leave the path that led me to that place" he sings "Who is the band that led me to this place" while pointing to Jones and Page. Lovely little tribute
🎸🎶😎Hello fellow travelers of both time and space...
I tried to suggest a group called OK Go so I apologize if I'm repeating myself. I'm not sure if it posted. They have very innovative videos.
I recommend them several times also!
Have definitely heard this song before myself. Also, we’re not a cult…yet
Yet… or would you even knoooooow?! Nah you guys aren’t brainwashed unfortunately. Darn independent thinkers drat
Led Zeppelin uses the word Shangri Las in there lyrics. Shangri's Las means a imaginary paradise aka happy place.
Hi! Dianne! You must play Stevie Ray Vaughn, the greatest guitarist of all time. Especially Voodoo Chile and Texas Floods! Cheers! Dennis
Can you imagine being with her back in the 70s watching this live?😮 I feel old. I watched this live sad.
One of Rock’s greatest hard rock bands! Very interested in your reaction!
Poob!
After jamming out to good music Chewie does need a good dinner and some water. Having dinner in house, Chewie doesn't have to wait in venue lines to get his food. Chewie's Shangri las is being in a store with all the foods and a chef serving the foods.
You should check out a song from Kiss called I still love you from the MTV unplugged video.
You won't be disappointed..
There were 20 million ticket request for this Concert!
Kashmir is simply a crescendo from start to end .... Really Really Just Simply Awesome
An absolute rock classic. One of the greatest numbers ever. It beats 'Stairway' all of the way. (I love Stairway as well)
My good friend is in a pub quiz team with Robert (when he is not touring) She always tells me about the evening. Not gonna say where the club is before anyone asks !
Three guys that could walk into any room on the planet and leave with your woman.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! I got a taste for them 😊
Glad to see Diane getting into and learning about GREAT Rock songs older than than herself. 🎉🎉
You have to listen to "Since i've been loving you" live from Madison Square Garden.. ruclips.net/video/4gT63xovuWE/видео.html you'll like watching Robert on this one..
A true psychodelic band. So you knew the music but didn't know the artist? I have done that before.
The Great song EVER recorded.
Listen to Deep Purple's "Child in Time". Listen to studio version first.
Your enthusiasm makes this old guy smile. Keep it up. These old guys can still rock probably even to this day
@user_officialDiane why for?
How about John Paul Jones playing the keyboards with his hands and the bass with his feet.
What? In this video?
@@DianeJenningsTo clarify I think he means JPJ is playing bass on the pedals of the keyboard.
It is a beautiful song that captures your heart and soul. It is truly an experience.
Musical artists with real talent are just as good or better performing live. This is a good example.
Hmm, a video featuring a London based performance. I sense foreshadowing...🤔
Teehee 🤭
How about stargazer by rainbow..best song ever written..
🇨🇦 What I believe is that this track has always shaken the world of Music !
if there is one consert i would love to go back in time to see, its either this one or their live in '73
I enjoy learning with You and You reading What Zed Zeppelins Kashmir was about from the bands thoughts on making the song and the lyrics.
😊😊😊
@@DianeJennings 😊😊😊🎉
Lets not forget JPJ is playing bass with his feet while playing the keyboards. All of them are music gods.
@@jonlight670 It's not a big deal. Any decent church organist masters the use of foot pedals. Ditto for jazz organists.
Thank you again for another great Video.

Evil exes will put you off music forever
Great song by one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. So glad you enjoyed it.
Next on your musical jouney, ZZ Top. You might try the song Sharp Dressed Man to begin.
I also knew the intro guitar riff, but I don't think I've ever heard the rest of the song. Not sure what the lyrics are, I really can't understand him.
Saame!
I think we played this song in high school band, or at least a version of it. We didn't have anyone singing though. Lol.
Very cool 😎
do kashmir live 1979
An interesting fact for you, Diane. The drummer in the performance you watched is Jason Bonham, the son of the original drummer John Bonham. Love these videos. Keep up the great work,Diane.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Gettin' the Led Out! Luv me some LZ! I will beat this one to death, but please give 'Since I've Been Loving You' live at Madison Square Garden 1973 a listen. Master class jam! I'm so glad you're diggin' on these cats now. Better late than never. I get a real kick watching you get into some of these LZ rockers that I grew up with and have been rockin' out to for 45 - 50 years! 'No Quarter' from MSG '73 kicks butt too!
Noted it in my lil notes… they’re actually very big notes 🗒️
@@DianeJennings Thanks Diane.
Quite the musical accomplishment by L.Z. Good choice Diane.
Thanks Richard! It was highly recommended
Since I've Been Loving You at MSG live yall think she's ready to see such a thing
I've been requesting that one for a while. A vocal master class
