Never fails to get the feels a-churning. I remember the night I found out that Bonham died and it ended with my neighbours cursing me out from their garden due to the loud music :O
Led Zeppelin broke up after Bonham past away because " There is no Zeppelin without the original four". They only got back together ( after years of being offered the sky and moon and all between) cause Bonham son played drums. How cool is that! Plant vocal still sick, Page, no words for his guitar skills.

Jason wasn't even guaranteed the spot. They made him try out and work for it just like anyone else.
I believe the reason they did this show was to honor the passing of the gentleman that signed them to Atlantic Records & they actually made Jason Bonham go through an audition to get this gig.

Robert Plant fully embraced his and Zeppelin's place in rock music history that evening at London's O2 Arena. It's as if Robert knew he would not be doing it ever again, and the concert was the perfect coda to the greatest rock band ever created.
In their twelve years together, their impact on our music is legendary. I recall my niece called me from her college dorm to tell me about this new band she had discovered. She went on and on about their incredible music. It was 1990. After I got up off the floor and stopped laughing, I told her who they were and that they were playing before she was born. Totally defeated she acknowledged she had not discovered this phenomenon. But…. I had a new designation as the “kool” aunt. LOL.

Everyone knew that this was going to be so epic that more than 27 million people applied for the 20,000 tickets, that were available for the event, in a worldwide lottery. I've always been a Led Head, but this performance, I just can't get enough of. Great reaction, and thank you for keeping this amazing band in the limelight!
Awesome reaction! One of my favorite songs and favorite live performances. The fact that John Bonham's son drummed for them was even better. The closest thing to an actual Led Zeppelin reunion.

I was thinking the same thing. As good as they sound here, it had to have been even better then with John on drums and the energy of youth.

This was really excellent. I have all the albums, and this was a great live performance. Robert's vocals were excellent as well. The whole band was tight and on point. I don't think they could have done any better, even in the 70s.

My favorite rock band of all time. Lead singer, Robert Plant’s vocals are legendary as is the rest of the band. Lead guitarist, Jimmy Page broke new ground and conventional norms. Deceased drummer, John Bonham is still regarded as one of the best rock drummers of all time. He was certainly the best of that era. Bassist, John Paul Jones doesn’t get the recognition he deserves for his work.
Robert Plant has stated, all of the songs he has written and recorded - Kashmir is the best.

One word comes to mind as I watch this performance... "Unstoppable" I wonder if Bonham ever thought about the possibility that his son would step in and KILL it on drums? He played like he was playing for his father.

Led Zeppelin might be the best rock band that ever existed.. you need to check out some live performances when they were young... legendary.
Watch the live version of this song from 1979 they did in England, it's on YT. You will be blown away, no auto tune, 4 amazing musicians at the top of their game, sounded like a journey to the other side. This band defies equal, I saw them live twice and they have been my favorite band since I was 14. None better.
It's amazing that at 60+ years, these guys can still bring it. It's called talent.

I saw Led Zeppelin live 7 times, between 1969 and 1980, and their musicianship was second to none. I only wish I could have got tickets for the O2 gig, to see them one last time, but I was competing against 20 million other people trying to buy tickets. This was truly the best live performance ever.

I'm pretty sure that is my favorite too. It's like trying to name a favorite child. No Quarter and The Ocean are pretty close. Ten Years Gone just hits different. In a great way.

Need to be said that this performance is forty years after they first released this song. The drummer is the son of the original drummer who passed on 1980 that ended the band from touring again, so this performance was something special and imo never sounded better.
Not bad for a bunch of rockers in their 60s (at the time), except for Jason of course.
You may have heard this beat sampled many time, notably most known as Puff Daddy's - Come To Me (Godzilla sound track) where Jimmy Page actually played guitar in that cover recording. I guess Jimmy didn't want anyone else to do his own riff so he happily obliged.

Not that it’s a big deal really, but 2007 is not 40 years after Kashmir was released Physical Graffiti was released in 1975. So that’s 32 years. Think you were going for “about 30 years”. But that doesn’t take away at all from how magnificent this whole concert was…and yeah….in their early sixties (Plant was 59, but why quibble).

My favorite rock band ever. I grew up in the 50s and 60s, served in the 70s and listened to all of the amazing music we had then. Led Zeppelin just did it better, their creative genius was sublime.
Just when you fall in love with Zeppelin, and assume no one should cover their songs, you must watch the Kennedy Center Honors... Heart performing Stairway to Heaven. Bonham's son played on that also. I promise if you haven't seen it, it will take your breath away!!♥️

I saw Page and Plant live in 1995 as a birthday present from my dad. My best friend, and his Dad, joined us for the show. It still ranks in my best 3 concerts ever, and only because I didn't know enough of Led Zeppelin's songs to really get it. Kashmir, however, was a genuine experience. It surpassed this performance by several degrees. While it lacked Jason Bonham on drums, it did have a full complement of middle eastern musicians filling out the orchestra. It was, at least, a 15 minute version of the song. Astounding.
The amount of skill and talent on that stage will never happen again. Enjoy it!

I do love watching young folks find these gems floating around in space time. I attended a concert in my home town (in New Zealand) in 1972, it is a long way to travel for bands so this was a life changing event. They had released 4 in the previous year. I cannot tell you how much their music has meant to me through my life. Glad you dig it...

I watched an interview with Jimmy Paige and he said the guitar riff of this song was something he used to play to warm up before gigs just to get loose. Later it developed into the song it is now.
How fortunate were we to grow up with this exceptional music as our early youth born in 58, now at 63 yrs young still love it

The drums in this song are fantastic. It's really hypnotic! It feels simple but it's really complex to play, lots of swing in the drums that adds to the feeling.
This song is really closer to a classical piece of music like Ravel's "Bolero" than a rock song. It's a musical trip (a good one). It brings you to places you have never been...

You should check out something from the 1973 Madison Square Garden Concert when they were young and Gods of rock. The lead singer Robert Plant is the definition of lead singers and just exudes sex appeal and charisma. And Jimmy Page the guitarists was equally bad ass. Generally speaking Zepp to me is always best live but this is one of the few Zepp songs I prefer the studio version over any live version. That being said, you did pick the best live version of the song out there. Unfortunately they are all 60 years old in this version. LOL. And the drummer is long dead. He died in 1980 from suffocating on his own vomit after throwing up. Thats his son filling in for him. This song is actually 46 years old and probably their second most popular song. Thats saying a lot for the number one band of the 70's.

Led Zeppelin is a whole different thing. Their talent and experimentation of sounds (Arabic carpet ride) is beyond the talent of what most rock bands can do. It was fun to watch you witness that. It brings back how we felt when we were first blown away.
They're playing like they did in the 70's. Tapping back into that high Rock energy like they never aged a day. Amazing!

John Bonham's son on the drums. No one else could replace his old man on the drums. The band couldn't go on after Robert Plant lost his best friend. This celebration Day performance shows the band being just the same that made them the best Rock band ever! Jimmy Page's guitar playing always exceptional. John Paul Jones wasn't just a bass player, he carried all the other instruments to make their sound original. Robert Plant's voice still strong at crooning and moaning, none can compare!
Love and dedication to his father's craft, Jason Bonham practiced in his apartment to get his Dad's strikes perfect and he's the only one that could respectfully take his Dad's place.

This is one of their songs from the double album "Physical Grafitti" that came out back in my senior year of high school. It was an amazing song then it's still amazing when this video was shot some 32 years after the original and damn almost 50 years later now IT STILL KICKS ASS! Man being a teen in the seventies was the greatest.
The drummer is the son of the bands original drummer who died back in 1980, after that they stopped touring. This was the only time since then they played a full set, they did a couple songs together here and there over the years.
Now if you want a kick in the seat, there is a live version here on RUclips from 1977 or 1979 to see them in their prime.

When word came out that after 30 years they were having this one day show...20 Million people tried to get tickets (World Record). After the show they were offered 1 Billion dollars to do a world Tour.
And let's all have a nod of respect for John Paul Jones, the Led Zep secret weapon. The reason they could have synth strings in a live song like this and yet not have a keyboard droning away during Black Dog

I was one of the millions that were heartbroken when Jon Bonham died, realizing that it meant the end of Zeppelin forever. Then over 20 years later another Bonham made the dream come true again. And it's truly amazing that we get to hear and see this and so many millions more unbelievable performances through the magic of the www !!!

This was done in 2004 I believe. One of the very few times Led Zeppelin played together, and normally w Jason Bonham playing drums. Plant was his Godfather and they are extremely close. At an age where most vocals are thready Plant sounds like they just stopped a week ago. Jason kills the drums, Page is Page…magnificent.
