I can't imagine life without hearing Led Zeppelin.
At the time i had a friend who was a music agent and he got us tickets for this show. When they broke into this song the eruption was so electric that i got goosebumps from head to toe. The coolest thing though was the acoustics when plant does his legendary scream it just echoed at the same time making it sound like it was a gallery of singers screaming. Jason played flawless too. Of all the songs that night this was the closest to the original especially in plants voice. He really sang most of it in original octive. The rest of the show either jimmy played solos in different keys or plant sang in a different range. Ive been to a lot of concerts in my life as i have several friends that are signed musicians a couple with interscope as well and this concert is by far the best concert i have ever seen. Zeppelin showed why they could still very well be the best band of all time. They play off each other so well that you would think they never left. If they even played half a dozen shows a year today i have zero doubt they could fill 100k people in a matter of minutes shattering any artist today. I dont think i will ever see a better group than this.

I was one of the 20 million people who applied for tickets in the first couple of hours on sale. Needless to say I didn't get any. The people here are very lucky.

You can feel how committed Robert Plant was during this performance, he knew this was going to be it FOREVER and he left it ALL put there.. When he does the ad libs Can I, Can I, Can I, Can I .. Whoooh!! That is my favorite part of the performance and gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it..
This song with a good pair of head phones will give you goose bumps.

My favorite line in after concert press is when they were asked what was each of their favorite parts of concert. JP said That we lived through it.
I was born in 1958 and grew up with these guys in their prime. Can you understand why we say we had the greatest bands and music of all time? No Autotune, no half-naked women dancing around, just pure from the gut and windpipes into the vocal cords songs of talent. Some songs are sung by Led Zep like "When The Levee Breaks" which is a cover song written back in 1925 and became a hit in 1927. This song was written by the singer Robert Plant. I hope you will take the time to check out our time in music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, right up to today, which still has some great bands and music. Not many, but some..

A masterful performance and rendition. To say these guys rock is a gross understatement. Perhaps the greatest rock band of all time.
AMAZING performance 32 years after its release. They may be decades beyond their peak, but WOW! Some will argue this isn't true Led Zeppelin but let's give Jason Bonham a big kudos. He really stepped up to honour his father and the band's legacy. This was their final concert. It was a one night show and tickets were by lottery. 20 million tickets requested for this concert.
Jason was the star of this show. But this was not Led Zeppelin. A great alternative version, but not the same dynamic without Bonzo.

I’m 64, my first concert 1971 Jethro Tull, I was 13. I’ve seen, Zepplin, Stones, Eagles, Dylan, The Dead, Jefferson Starship, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Petty, Heart, Doobies, Jackson Browne, Kiss, Bonnie Raitt, Blues Brothers, James Brown, BB King, The Band, over 400 concerts, and counting.
And Jimi Hendrix. Nowadays they just use electronic beats and sounds so no talent needed. Oh, and rap is just talking, not singing.
One amazing fact is that John Paul Jones plays the base with his feet at the same time as the keyboards!
I saw Zep at their final UK performance at knebworth festival in 1979. Shortly after that John Bonham died. The fact that they sounded this good nearly three decades later is testament to the quality of these guys. There will never be another Led Zeppelin
The Knebworth Festival was two weekends in August '79. Bonham died in September '80.

One of the crowd shots after the encores is a young woman in tears. She knew. This was going to be the band's last performance together. She was too young to have seen them in their day But she did get to see that even in old age they were the GOAT, still able to bring a stadium to its feet as they dazzled with power of their music and their virtuosity.
I would've cried too. Just to have had the chance, but I never have. Hey they weren't too old here...late 50s and early 60s 😁
& this is precisely why 20 million people tried getting tickets for a venue that they were selling 20 thousand tickets for!!! Bonzo’s sons name is Jason. So glad you listened to all us crazy LED HEADS & watched this version too. Definitely Trampled Under Foot Earls Court and I strongly recommend In My Time of Dying also Earls Court 1975. ☮️

The integrity this band has, promoters were salivating watching and listening to this performance. The $$$$ that was thrown at them to take this on the road was bananas and they said NO you have to respect that.. 👏🏾👏🏾

it's just another masterpiece from Led Zeppelin. one of many.
This was their last performance. They had done a couple of one-offs in the 80’s but both were marred by lack of time for rehearsal. So when they agreed to perform for this tribute to Ahmet Erdogan, their friend as well as the person who signed them to St,antic Records, they did so with the intention to show the world that their fame and legend was not hype but deserved. So they carved out the time to rehearse…to make Jason feel comfortable and part of the band, and to make sure they were in the best form they could possibly be, including a full dress rehearsal, which is also on RUclips. Off and on, they rehearsed six weeks. Jason was a treasure trove for them, because he had ALL the bootlegs of Zeppelin, and had studied his dads drumming from all the concerts for which there were recordings, so if Jimmy or JPJ couldn’t remember a particular transition or how they had ended a song, he could literally say “well, in Detroit in 1973 you did it this way, or in 1975 you did it that way”. What a resource they had in Jason! Plus, he’s a damn fine drummer in his own right.
I have always believed Bonzo came down and Jason channeled his spirit that night. Jason sounded so much like his father when he was playing. I got chills so many times watching Celebration Day.
And he can pretty much nail dad's solo.

Literally, hundreds of millions of dollars was offered to them to tour after this show. There was such a desire by their fans to see them that they could have toured for a year and not satisfied the demand. But Robert refused. They all said when Bonzo died that Zeppelin could not continue. But after this performance, Jimmy desperately wanted to continue and tour. Remember, Zeppelin was his creation, and he was the “keeper of the flame” if you will. But Robert refused. And there were many reasons. Casual fans were furious…..they wanted to see Zep perform again. But if you were are a serious fan, or had followed Plant through his long solo career, and knew something about his character, it was understandable.
Zeppelin had ceased to be, as Robert himself put it , “an affair of the heart” for him after his son died. Bonzo talked him into retuning to the band. And after his best friend died, that cut the last chord for him. There had been allot of dark and rough years for him in Zeppelin starting in 1975, and some of those old tensions were still there. He had spent decades having a successful solo career, and he didn’t want to be drawn back into that “Golden god” roll again. He didn’t need the money. Trying to sing like that at 59 years old on a tour could have damaged his voice irreparably. Finally, and most importantly: Robert’s idea of hell is repetition. Throughout his life he has sought musical inspiration from from different traditions. He was at the time of this concert, also touring with his own band, Strange Sensations. He also had started his collaboration with Allison Krauss, which was musically exciting and challenging to him…and the album from that collaboration led to a year-long tour and won 5 Grammies in 2009. When he comes to money versus what moves his heart and drives his musical passions, Robert will pick his heart every time. He does not live his life for Zeppelin fans….nor his own for that matter, but for what feeds his soul. I respect that. He is still performing, and he is touring his new album with Krauss this summer. He’s now 74 and has no intention to stop until he has to…..Willie Nelson being his example. He writes and performs music because he HAS to…..not for the money, but because it’s who he is, and, as he has often said, only half in jest, it helps to keep him sane. Ever moving forward to the new, never dwelling in the past, that’s who he is. I don’t know as Jimmy has ever made his peace with Robert’s decision, and Jason and JPJ were disappointed. But so be it.
I think there are 2 reasons. The first and main reason is - he just can't sing like that any more, but he knew that from about 75 onwards. Second is, he respects the legacy and knows it remains in the past, to carry into the future. I for one am glad they didn't do the whole glitz reunion, and I don't think Celebration Day is Led Zeppelin, because it isn't. People that rave about this need to go and watch Denmark. That, is Led Zeppelin.
When their together at interviews and a reunion gets mentioned, you can visibly see the disappointment on Jimmy's face when Robert shoots down the notion.
THe band had agreed to tour with Jason but Jimmy broke a finger and the tour was postponed then canceled after Plant decided he didn't want to do it. this was after Celebration day.
@@paulriddle7818 hmm….actually, CelebraTion Day was originally scheduled for early November of 2007,but had to be postponed until December because Jimmy broke his finger. Heard allot of interviews and read some books….never a mention of Jimmy breaking his finger again after the concert. What’s your source? Plant had no intention of touring…He was in the middle of his collaboration with Alison Krauss and a tour was planned for 2008 fir that. He agreed to this performance to honor his friend Ahmet, and to honor Led Zeppelin’s legacy…..to finish it off with a triumph. They accomplished that. And then Robert was done. If you have a source that says otherwise I would be very interested in knowing it.
Page was disappointed, but ultimately OK with Plant's refusal to your again. He understood that Plant wasn't the fearless, brash young guy he'd been when they originally formed.
This is f-ing amazing!! Plants voice is spot on, still holding those notes! Of course Jimmy still has it, probably the best guitar player ever!! And then Jason, John's son who said he practiced n practiced and practiced all of the songs to get them down pat, and that he did, just like his dad.. 🎶🤘🎵
This is the last performance to honour Armhet Ertigun who signed them, but only did this concert as a memorial to him.

It is very fun to watch the beginning of this concert where they briefly show a clip from a news report on a Zeppelin concert from 1970 or so on a “TV” screen, and then you hear the opening chords of Good Times Bad Times ring out and the stage lights go up and the crowd goes absolutely NUTS. And why shouldn’t they? Those lucky 18,000 or so people had LITERALLY won the lottery for tickets to this once in a lifetime event. If I had a time machine, this would be one of my stops…..assuming I had a ticket of course! 😁🤘
Just getting around to checking this reaction out and ... I LOVED IT!!! love seeing your appreciation for these legends. I could go on forever about Zeppelin, this song, the performance and your reaction (which was awesome!!👊🙃) but I'll spare y'all that and simply say that this performance is proof of what I've always known (some people just don't seem to get though! lol!!🤦♀) But I'm gonna say it again for whatever it's worth...
IMO, this performance highlights one VERY important fact in the journey here on earth and that is that while their bodies have aged greatly... their souls remain the same (that's my silly play on "the song remains the same"! lol!!😅). Robert and Jimmy's souls in particular SHINED exactly the same as they did back in the 70's. And that is because... it's only our bodies that age!!!👊 We gather a ton of wisdom in our heads throughout the years (and a lot of bullshit too!!🙄) and live according to the crap in our heads but deep down inside, our souls remain the same!!! In a nutshell, our souls don't age... it's just the body that does...

This was--to date--Led Zeppelin's final performance. The 3 surviving members of the band only reunited to perform together 4 times: Live Aid in 1985; the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary celebration in 1988; the band's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1995; and the Celebration Day concert in 2007, which was in tribute to the late Ahmet Ertegun, the Atlantic Records executive who originally signed Led Zeppelin to the label.
None of those performances were "Led Zeppelin," as John Bonham died in 1980, taking that band with him.

@@johnpetrie1918 So let me ask you this: If Jimmy Page had died, and not Bonzo.....and Plant, Jones, and Bonzo went on tour and called it: "Led Zeppelin," would it be "Led Zeppelin?" Would you consider that "Led Zeppelin?" If you answer is "no," then a band without Bonzo isn't Led Zeppelin either. And it isn't.
And I'd sure love to see proof of where the band itself called these performances "Led Zeppelin," because I've never seen that in print or in an interview.
@@tektoniks_architects umm... the concert has literally been released as a Led Zeppelin album & concert film. It's included in the band's official picture book released in 2018. Your hypothetical about Page dying is irrelevant. The band itself have referred to their handful of reunion performances as official band performances. You're free to hold the opinion that Celebration Day "doesn't count" as a Led Zeppelin album but I assure you the band itself would disagree.
So in other words ....you didn't answer my questions. Fair enough.
Led Zeppelin's last performance was July 7, 1980 in Berlin, Germany (I have a soundboard CD). The last song they ever played was Whole Lotta Love. They were closing out a European tour just prior to a US tour, which never happened.
This concert (2007) is the last time the remains of the group played together, and is likely the last. The large Stonehenge-like pylons you see on the screen graphics are a clever nod to "The Object" from the album cover,: "Presence," the next album.
The WLL from that last Berlin show was such a spectacle, as well. Listen to JPJ!

ticket sales and requests for this concert set worldwide records. McCartney, The Stones, Pink Floyd, the concert was filled with top celebrities and musicians, too. What an experience for all whom were able to see these incredible musicians. The best of the best, then, now, forever!
Robert Plant has a good set of solo material going back quite a few years, and is still a great singer.
His live cover of Song To The Siren is outstanding. Hope you eventually get to his solo work.

When Zeppelin steped on thr stage as force unit, it striked like a magical thunder controlled by 4 men.
At this concert, Jason was in his 40s, Robert in his late 50s, and both Jimmy and Jonesy in their early 60s. Robert has focused on his solo career. He will occasionally perform Zep songs in his own concerts but has no interest in performing with the other two.
If you watch more from this concert, there are plenty of shots of the crowd….the entire two hour concert is superb.

Back when they would play this live in 75 and 77, Page use to mimic John Paul Jones' middle eastern keyboard scales and riffs on his guitar, especialy during the last segment of the song. Nice review from a brilliant performance by Zeppelin.

I never got to see Led Zeppelin sadly but I did get to see Robert Plant a few years before this concert. He did some new songs and a lot of Led Zeppelin songs. I was right down the front and he was amazing.
This was last performance ever and only very few ever done since 1980. They nailed this one and Jason great drummer in his own right doing his Dad proud. I prefer Knebworth as Led Zep with Bonzo. Can't be Led Zep without Bonzo holding it all down. But they get real close to the next best thing here. Imagine 20 mill people tried to buy tickets for this one concert 27 years after they disbanded. Amazing!!
There are interviews of some of those attending this concert. It was al lottery, because they had 20m requests for tickets. Lots of musicians and celebrities attended.
Jason Bonham in his own right is one of the best drummers in the world. Why wouldn't he be, his dad was his personal teacher.

This was their last song on the almost two hour set. They closed with it because, to the surviving members, it is THE song that they feel best represents Zeppelin’s sound. It has all the majesty, the power, the Moroccan and Middle Eastern influences…..They then did two encores…Whole Lotta Love and Rock and Roll….making it a full two hour concert. The entire concert is available on DVD and on RUclips. It is my favorite concert movie. Definitely do more from the O2. Once you get through all eight albums, you could screen the entire concert on your patreon channel ……..You would get allot of new patrons if you did that, myself included.
I was there. I had seen them multiple times in the 70s. But if you want to know what the crowd was like, I saw kids in front of me who were literally weeping at this show. I was standing right next to the VIP section and was able to watch Paul McCartney, Brian May, Jeff Beck, Dave Grohl, (god help me) Paris Hilton etc etc etc etc and they were all on their feet dancing during Kashmir (except Beck who seemed to be more interested in chatting up the blonde sitting next to him who had a look on her face like "Shut the f" up Jeff.")
Although they've never played as Led Zeppelin since this concert Jimmy and JPG have played guesting at a Foo Fighters concert and Webley, London. They did a great job, look for Foo Fighter + Ramble On and Rock and Roll.
Led Zeppelin and puppy dogs should live forever.. majestic and worthy!

I respect that everyone wanted a reunion after this concert. All I can say is that Robert knew there were songs that he just could sing anymore. There were songs that Jimmi and JP wanted to do but Robert said no. To sing at 60 + years old there are things your voice can't do anymore. I respect Robert for not wanting to lower the bar on expectations. I would have loved to see them go on tour again, but I understand Roberts POV. The greatest Rock Band Ever and I never would want to hear them and say " I remember when they were good!!!! They were the GOAT and will always be the GOAT .

I think Robert has regrets about not coming to the US after the O2. Keep in mind Led Zeppelin were much more popular in America than in the UK. The States accepted Zeppelin early on and concerts were always sold out from day one. That continued until Bonzo passed in 1980. Robert's solo career was also built here in North America long before elsewhere. So, to not do the Ahmet Ertegun tribute here was a slight to the people that truly supported Zeppelin throughout their careers. It's all on Robert however, the others wanted to do a few shows here after the huge success of the O2 show.

Absolutlely loved this version of Kashmir,]. It's the best one as far as I'm concerned. The whole Celebration Day concert is great. I think Robert Plant has a richness in his voice that wasn't there when he was younger. Yay for the old guys (of which I am one).😄🙃🙃.
I have good news SalvoG - you can get yet another later flavor of Kashmir with Page & Plant Unledded tour 1995 at the late great Irvine Meadows Amphitheater (I saw Lollapalooza 1 there). Michael Lee was amazing on drums too R.I.P. - no crowd shots but what a performance! My favorite version of one of my favorite rock songs ever.
"When the greatest rock beast of all time entered the stage for a last reminder of how big, beauty and powerful it still is." Don't know who wrote this after this show, but it fits just well.

The cool part about zeppelin is you can listen to the same song performed live at different concerts and it is never the same! It’s almost like a whole different song each time because they improvise so much! Definitely check out some more songs from this concert
Jimmy was so proud of their performance on this concert that he was excited and sure that a tour would follow but unfortunately Plant did not want to do it and Pagey was devastated and it has caused a coldness between them ever since.....20 million tickets request in one hour for this show
How sad they didn't do a tour! I would go anywhere to see them!

Robert is loyal to Bonzo. There is no Led Zeppelin without John Bonham.
@@tektoniks_architects It's not just that. He has grown out of LZ and thinks he's too old to be doing rock music - that they might sound like a tribute band, and he doesn't like touring and all the hype that goes with LZ. I don't think his voice is up to it now and he doesn't like repetition.
@@heliotropezzz333 We can agree to disagree somewhat on this one, Helen, although I agree with you more than I disagree. I don't think Robert believes himself to be too old to be doing rock music. I agree he doesn't want to sound like a tribute band, and I agree that he doesn't want to be perceived as a Led Zeppelin tribute band. Whether his voice is up to it or not, I believe any time he partners with Jimmy and/or JPJ, people immediately push the "ZEPPELIN REUNION/ZEP TOUR!" narrative, and he doesn't want that.
I also believe he doesn't want people thinking what Jason and the band do is "Led Zeppelin," because Robert knows (and has stated many times) as great as Jason is, he's not Bonzo, and its not Zeppelin without Bonzo. Robert is fiercely loyal to Bonzo, and Jason is not Bonzo...period.
Plant also harbors a little resentment towards the band. In his mind, they were not there to support him emotionally when his son died. Strike one. Jimmy "forced" Robert to record Presence while in a wheelchair (lyrics of the songs on presence allude to his resentment). Robert's resentment was clear when he specifically called out Jimmy in the lyrics to Carouselambra on the ITTOD album. Strike Two. Plant wanted out of the band by that point, and I'm sure, to some extent, Robert blamed John Bonham's death on the circus that was Led Zeppelin. Strike Three. Bonham was "family" to Robert. Robert always said family was more important than the band to him, which can never be said about Jimmy. Bonham's death was the last straw for Robert, and any going back is the equivalent of breaking up with a dysfunctional girlfriend and then going back....he knows its not going to work.
He'd play with Page, but not with Jones....because when you put the three survivors together then it's "Led Zeppelin" again. He did Atlantic Records as "Zeppelin" in 1988 because of his respect for Ahmet Ertegan, and he did 2007 O2 because of his love for Ahmet.....and that's as far as he'd ever want to go. He's staked out his own career, and he doesn't answer to anybody anymore, and he knows you can never go back. So while his voice is not 1971 again, he could certainly do it....but in my mind, he thinks it had its moment, but now I'm free and its time to move on.

You should do No Quarter from this concert. I know you wanted to see more of Jimmy's guitar playing from MSG... this concert shows it really well.
For Your Life is one of the best songs they do at this show, it’s from the Presence album and this is the first time they ever did that song in concert. Jason is also awesome in that song and it’s a groove, which you like .

Whether you can see the faces in the crowd or not...there was 20,000 seats available & 20 million requests for tickets!! They had a to hold a lottery to see who were the luckiest ticket holders on the planet!!🎵🎶🎵
What a phenomenal performance!! Robert plant sounds amazing! I'm going to go see Robert Plant on August 13th and 14th 2024 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, BC Canada tickets were alot but worth it!! Can't wait!!!❤🤘 I seen Robert Plant in 88 and 89 as well in Vancouver!!!
