Robert Plant and John Bonham were best friends since childhood. After Bonham passed away in 1981, his son Jason was just a small boy. Robert and the rest of the band were like surrogate fathers for him and they fostered his passion for drumming he got from his father. The drummer for Led Zeppelin was John Bonham. He is considered the greatest rock drummer. He died in 1980 and the band decided they couldn't go on without him. The surviving members played together less than 5 times since 1980. The drummer for this concert is John's son Jason who is a great drummer himself. There were 16.000 tickets available for this concert - there were 20 MILLION requests for tickets. That's Led Zeppelin. They really are the GOAT. Check out others from this concert:

One of the things that makes this song so unique and gives it its vibe is that the drummer and guitarist are playing different time signatures. Bonham (drums) is playing 4/4 time, while Page (guitar) is playing 3/4 time. It takes extreme talent to do that in the same song.

Getting the vocals takes a bit more focus these days, but my guitar playing keeps improving. (It's great that I'm anonymous here so I can say this stuff.) Creativity is life. If you've got even a little spark, fan it into a flame.

Robert is 59 here..,Jimmy is 63. The drummer is Jason, the son of John Bonham, the original drummer who passed in 1980. At his passing, Zeppelin disbanded. They couldn’t continue without all four of them. They never again toured or recorded as Led Zeppelin. They were each integral to their sound. ButJason just channels his father’s spirit here. He studied every bootleg he could get his hands on and knows his father’s licks perfectly. It’s like having his father back in the band. This was a one-off performance in 2007 .Although Robert Plant ( singer) and Jimmy Page had played together for several years in the nineties, they had not played together as Led Zeppelin since one-off brief performances in 1985 and 1988. Keep in mind this fact: the O2 arena holds 18,000 people. The number of people who tried to get tickets to this was 20 million. That’s less than 1/10th of 1 percent who scored a ticket to the most anticipated reunion concert in rock history. zeppelin did not disappoint. The entire concert is magnificent.

In my time of dying is one of my favorites. Really heavy blues influence mixed with Jimmy’s modern (to the times) guitar work. I also recommend Rain Song from The Song Remains the Same! Such a beautiful song

In their prime, I'd say find the movie "The Song Remains The Same" it's a live concert of them. You also get to see the current drummer (Jason Bonham) as a baby (I think maybe 3 or 4) playing drums. He the son of the original late drummer John Bonham. I think you would enjoy the concert movie. Lots of their earlier material. By the way, I believe P Daddy or Diddy (whatever he calls himself now days), used the riff (with the bands permission) on a song he did for the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack.

@@jbojoify Well I was trying to encompass the whole thing. The band, John Bonham, Jason as a kid learning from his dad. And Robert's vocals. Yes a few cracks, but it's still a solid performance. Just trying to kill multiple birds with one stone.

Robert Plant is 74 years old. His and the rest of the bands history goes all the way back to the late '60's when Led Zeppelin formed. Jimmy Page, the lead guitarist, is now 79 years old. Unfortunately there original drummer, John Bonham , died September 25, 1980 at age 32. He was, and still is, considered one of the best drummers of all time, but he was trapped by drugs and alcoholic poisoning.. And if you are wondering who was filling in for him in this performance that is none other then Phil Collins! The last member of their band is John Paul Jones. He is 77 years old. and plays bass and keyboards.
At a time when most would retire and simply fade away, these people demonstrate what true professionalism and the love of their music really is. If you take care of yourself you can latterly go on until the good lord calls you home!
I'm glad you appreciate it! They have been playing this tune since 1975!

There were only 20,000 seats available and when they went on sale, all
the servers crashed with over 20 million request for tickets in the
first 2 hours. Also they were all in their 60's. Kashmir was first
released in 1975. Singer is Robert Plant, guitar player is Jimmy Page,
keyboards and bass, John Paul Jones, drummer, Jason Bottom, son of
original drummer, John Bottom. When they were rehearsing they told the
crew, NO AUTO TUNE OR OTHER ENHANCEMENTS, they wanted to do it just
like they did in 1975. Voted best rock band of the 60's-70's & 80's. Then came back in 2007 and did this in their 60's and killed it with NO AUTO TUNE OR OTHER ENHANCEMENTS today singers use.

If i'm not mistaken that concert is 2007 which would have made every member except the drummer in their late 50's but when you have talent you got it and they all have it. Good to see the young listening and reacting to this music. Take care and God Bless.

Rick asked the questions we all want to know. If you're a Led Zeppelin fan the interview is a " must" listen. Robert's influences we're the big bands of the 50's, blues and jazz singers from Chess records and such. I won't give the spoilers away. Robert explains everything in a full circle

Robert Plant singer. Jason Bonham, son of the late John Bonham, original drummer for Led Zeppelin. After his death, Led Zeppelin disbanded because they couldn't continue without their drummer. But they made an exception for this performance because John's son was going to play in his dad's place. He grew up knowing all of the members. This concert was a one-off that wasn't originally planned, but when it was made public, 20 million fans tried to get a ticket.

GREAT reaction video to Kashmir! This song is likely among the top five most influential classic rock anthems ever composed by ANY band. No disrespect intended toward so many other astounding bands, but Zepp is arguably the penultimate of all classic rock bands, and their entire catalog is flawless and breaks all limits. Of their complete works, however, in my opinion, only Stairway to Heaven eclipses Kashmir as the two greatest original songs this or ANY band of that era ever created.

"All of my Love", written when Robert lost his 6 yr. Old son Karac to a stomach virus. He was in the US when it happened touring. They took off a while so he could tend to his family. He almost didn't come back but John Bonham convinced him that he needed to in order to not let it consume him with grief.

Check out the song "Black Dog" to hear what Robert Plants vocals can do. How they came up with the name for this song was, during rehearsal for the songs they were doing for their album, Led Zeppelin IV, a "black dog" kept coming to the studio, and made friends with them, they didn't have a name for the song, so they named it "Black Dog" for the dog (The title is a reference to a nameless black Labrador Retriever that wandered around the Headley Grange studios during recording.) From Google search.

The Drummer is Jason Bonham, son of the original drummer the late great John Bonham, filling the very big shoes of his dad playing his dad's original (YES ORIGINAL) drum kit at Jason's request. A 5 Piece Ludwig Vista Lite with Timpani and Gong. 14" Hi Hats, 16" Crash, 18" Crash and 22" Ride Cymbals. The bass drum has no padding so it is all raw power.
