THE GREATEST guitar solo ever is Pink Floyd's song comfortably numb ON THE CONCERT DVD of theirs NAMED PULSE WHERE David Gilmour PLAY'S the GUITAR And it's amazing
@@rodhanson7112 I like Gilmore, but no one combines the scales and modes to create emotion the way Jimmy Page does. The Comfortably Numb solo is awesome, but relatively simple compared to the complexity of Page's guitar performances.
He was fantastic. He became a legend. His son did the drumming for the tribute of Stairway to Heaven done by Heart. Incredible as well. So, glad that you enjoyed!
It’s a drum solo. They were very popular when there were real bands out there. Bonzo is the best rock drummer ever, in my opinion. Think about how rhythmic he stayed through the whole performance. I’ve seen drum solos that were just about how fast someone could drum, and just a lot of racket. Did you notice how he kept the same beat with his snare and his bass drum using his foot?
When I heard this I gave myself a tattoo and it was shit but I love this band they were a band that made me rebel my mum always said turn that shit down which made me turn it up John Henry Bonham is the best drummer of all time and this proves it he sadly missed 😢
John would play for his wife. She loved it, so he called it "Pat's Delight". The band cut the song and recorded it with John's solo. John' s son, Jason Bonham would hear his Daddy play and said it was huge, like Moby Dick. "Pat'Delight" morphed into "Moby Dick". John did solos during ever concert, the longest being close to 30 minutes. He was incredible!
Phenomenal!!!!! Still the standard for drummers today. He was a beast!!!!! Closest thing I’ve seen is Larnell Lewis on City of Lights. His drum solo is shorter, but just as meaningful. Larnell has a musical IQ that is top notch.
Oh yes, thank you for turning me onto Diana. Her voice is amazing. It’s one of the best voices I’ve ever heard in my life. As for Steve Vai, his style of music is not for everybody, but I really hope you enjoy it if you get around to it.
i read an interview with jimmy page where he said that when bonzo went back to sticks a runner would come to the dressing room and just say "sticks" and the band would return to the stage, but from then he might play another 10 minutes b4 bringing the band back in, it was bonzos turn to have fun, and he took as long as he wanted.....interesting side note Jim Henson based the muppet drummer Animal on Bonzo, not a bad claim to fame....
This is not an improvisation, this is a drum song. In the 4:20 long official song, he solos for 3 minutes. Of course, he "colors" it in concert, but you can also hear variations of the original song here.
Drum solos were/are common at rock concerts. It allows bathroom breaks, beverages and for some bands early access to groupies. Some bands then have acoustic # or guitar solo to let the drummer get a break. Bonzo is my favorite drummer but check out Neil Peart ‘the Professor’ solo and Black Sabbath has a song called Rat Salad the is in same vein as Molby Dick
I seen a drummer play black dog as if he was the whole band not just the drums I never saw a drummer play a whole song on drums but my friend played the whole song as if it were guitar base and drums all together as the song on his drums never saw anyone do that oh and he had a double base drum on the bottom not one drum for his foot but 2 the way he rolled it but he was better that this guy in drums I’m like why you so good he said he sold his soul to the devil lol
Drummer here, what the hell are you trying to say? Ask your friend if he ranks himself up there with John Bonham. The mind blowing thing about Bonzo is something that your not seeing, the man's right foot. Non drummers have no idea how important this drum solo and Bonham are in the history of drumming.
Moby Dick was a song that was written so the other three members jimmy page Robert Plant, John Paul Jones can take a break and go to the bathroom and then come back on stage and then they usually start it off in the in my Time of dying after
Being born the year of this concert, 1970, Moby Dick, is THE rock n roll drum solo and John Bonham (RIP), did NOT improvise this. He was influenced by past jazz and big band drummers and this, if I remember correctly because I had ALL LZs albums as a teenager, is their only tune that's entirely instrumental and as popular as any other and when Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones comes back into the song, it is truly EPIC rock n roll! 😀🤘 Oh and found yr channel today bc I saw you react to my man, Larry Bird's mixtape. Thanks for showing him some love. Your new sub as of today, Aszneth "Asz" (FL)
6:50 jimmy page OOOOZES passion through the guitar, generally i agree with you but theres a few guys who make the guitar sing and cry, jimmy is 1 of those few
Passion you say? Guitarist and composer, Steve Vai. FREAKSHOW EXCESS, and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, live from Where the Wild Things are. He has so much passion it oozes out of his body. I hope you check it out. If you like it, I would watch the whole show. He’s one of the greatest guitarists to ever play.
Often back then the band gave the drummer his own part (if it was a good drummer) like in Mody Dick. Cream had a similar song called Toad and was in fact a drumsolo for Ginger Baker. Cream - Toad (Live) Royal Albert Hall, 1968 ruclips.net/video/GDDPn4k10WU/видео.html But I prefare TOAD from the doubla LP Wheel's of Fire. Toad, mainly a drumsolo for almost 18 minutes live. But then you have to close your eyes and just follow.......... ruclips.net/video/5RVdVq6_nOw/видео.html
1:15, he could keep that pace up for HOURS! 1 of his nicknames was THE BEAST. i highly recomend you check out achilles last stand, MONSTER drumming track ruclips.net/video/1t4KLOm7pO0/видео.html
The greatest live drum solo in music history in my opinion. John Bonham blended blues, jazz and hard rock along with other random elements, there's been alot of great rock drummers over the years but John Bonham is considered one of the greatest and most influential drummers of all time. I agree for the most part, but honestly when discussing who is the greatest rock drummer ever? Keith Moon from "the Who" has to be included in that discussion somewhere. 14:25 he was drumming so fast his drumsticks were producing distinct "tracers".
Had not watched the whole thing in a while....the drummer was a brute...oh...yes...what Ronnie James Dio...1983 Children of the Sea live or Last in Line...enjoy!
Muscle memory is a musicians best friend. Drums, guitars, keyboards, it is all patterns to be practiced and known like the back of your hand. Looking is not necessary.
Drum solos were a thing back in the Buddy Rich days. Drummers like Bonham, Charlie Watts, Ringo Starr, all had this in their arsenal, although it was rarely called for after the big band era. Just like Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption", this is based on an outline, or scaffold of parts and improvised partially as feel dictates. This would be slightly different every single time.
Bonham played this solo over 200 times, it’s pretty much the same, it may very a little. There are longer versions then the one you chose, he does this solo during a 3 to 4 hour straight concert. He was the greatest drummer of all time, sadly passed away in 1980. It’s not actually a song, it’s a drum solo.
I don’t know 🤷 f you have read their bios but Bono’s was quite sad. He was one of the best drummers ever. He died in 1980. Robert Plants little son died and he himself was in a terrible car crash and almost lost his leg.
Drum solos were very common in rock in this time period. And i'm not bashing you but drums certainly aren't the only instrument that can portray emotions. Watch any David Gilmour Solo.
Now, for the greatest guitar solo ever recorded, check out the 28 minute version of Dazed and Confused live from MSG 1973!

Dear Bonhan. The best drummer
Moby Dick… brought to you by Hellmann’s Mayonnaise
I'd recommend listening to the studio version aswell! It's good to hear both the live and studio versions of any song.
it's one of the greatest drum solos you'll ever see, there are no lyrics, it's pure improvisational play !
