I always seem to spot out one area on a painting that I like the most (on mine and the painting I watch on youtube) and on this painting I love the darker blue area in the sky and how it meets up with the light rose color just above the larger birds and the line of darker rose at the top right. Beautiful painting thank you for sharing.
Having more time now that I'm retired I decided to put my late mother's art materials to use 3 months ago. Watching various videos I've settled on yours, as your paintings appeal to me, especially the seascapes. As a beginner, I would advise anyone starting out to stick with it. Out of about 20 efforts, I am really pleased with 4 and it is worth it.

This is fantastic, Lois. I love it. Not ending up with a green sky can be tricky. That faint headland in the background really set it off, and I can hear the birds! The flat brush is a godsend for details like the boats and the horizontal reflections. I don't have the courage to draw on the painting directly. I get my boats to my satisfaction on tracing paper first, and then scribble on the back to transfer them onto the painting. Anyway, thanks for another glorious sunset. :D
Oh Lois, you amaze how you can make a few linear marks then, right before my eyes, boats appear! I know what you mean when you call the painting 'simple', but it is far from that. Well done, another fabulously inspirational demonstration/tutorial.

It would be nice if whomever close captioned your tutorials watched them, then whomever did this one would see you weren't painting a small boy, you were painting a small buoy! lol
