Thank you Lois. It's been more than 20 years since I painted watercolor. Life took me to another places. I've just started to get acquainted to the medium again. It's like riding bicycle. One doesn't forget but has to be humble to admit he/she is not an athlete and needs to get back to the principle first before going into some real action. You are really a pretty good instructor for both beginners and professionals.
This is one of my favorites, I'm going to try and recreate it for my 84yr old father who loves nautical themes... Thank you, again you do lovely work and you teach so well... Cheers...
This is so beautiful! Amazing to see how all of the little touches make such a difference! The shadow in the foreground, and yellow reflection on the water really set the piece off! Excellent video, Thank you, Lois!
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial, I have managed to paint this scene today, I am not very good at art but thanks to your easy to follow instructions I am actually thrilled with the result, I will even frame it !! Thank you once again for inspiring me to keep trying.
This is another challenging painting #11 Ship in Harbour I did and quite pleased with the water reflection. Overall, my painting is rather dark. I only started watercolor in mid May this year, and spent much time in watching tutorials. Thank you.
Another enjoyable video inspiring us to have ago, thanks Lois for sharing your talent calmly to achieve detail depth in your painting. Thanks greatly appreciated stay safe.
I'm so glad I found your channel Lois. You've reinvigorated my love of watercolour painting! 🎨 Keep up the fantastic work (and keep the videos coming).
I guess im randomly asking but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Ramon Major i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I loved the mood of this painting & your ltd palette. So much so, I painted this one & your recent pastel sunset boats! My version, of course, but they're good. Thanks so much, Lois! (Oh--I bought 2 Ron Ranson hakes. Learning curve, but FUN!).
Lovely, thank you for sharing this. I found my old watercolors, and tomorrow I'll start using them again. Your videos should help me get started I think.
I forgot to say, you can find the series on Patreon using the tag Safe harbour on the Posts page, message me on Patreon if you have any questions or problems finding it and I’ll send you the link there
I love your painting approach, and the results are wonderful! I noticed you use a lot of yellow ocher in various paintings and I’m wondering which brand you use. I find when I use my yellow ocher it doesn’t have the same warm glow I see in your paintings.
So atmospheric, will try this today for the second time… which flat brush do you take for the ship and the wriggles in the water - my flat one doesn’t work that good thank you for your advice
Hello, I found your channel today, I'm french and I don't really understand when you speak. My question : is it possible to realize your work with inks and water ?? That' beautiful !! Tks Anna
I think it would be possible with ink and water, I think you would have to work a bit more quickly, and wouldn't be able to lift out the ink as easily as watercolour while wet, and not at all when dry
@@LoisDavidsonArt On the other hand, not underlining the junction adds to the mist effect which I find really emotional. Great painting and thanks for your sharing !
very lovely! i am beginning right now with watercolor. is it a wet-tape? why does the paper NOT make waves, as you seem to be using quite a lot of water?
Thanks! It’s just ordinary masking tape, my paper is cotton, it buckles when wet but the tape holds it firmly so as it slowly dries naturally, it usually dries nice and flat like it did here
The water is very convincing. Why did the blue and yellow not create a green? Think it looked more like a sea than a lake, more of a sea-going ship, and I could smell the rum so.....
Thanks! As long as you don't scrub at the paint or overmix it, it shouldn't make green, I try to ensure that the 2 colours softly diffuse rather than mix together to make green
Hi Maggi, sometimes there are if appropriate but not always . There’s a traceable or downloadable image for the ship as well as an exclusive Patreon tutorial for painting the boat
That was lovely to watch. Thank you.
Why do people dislike videos? If they don't like, they could simply avoid interacting. The painting is beautifully demonstrated.
Thank you so much!
Absolutely stunning! And it looks relatively easy. Hopefully the second time I will watch and paint.
Beautiful, Lois.

Thanks, I use a Cotman 3/5" synthetic flat
Hi Lois. Are you able to tell me which water colour paint do you use?
It's beautiful Luis ......,
Yet light orange or light pink would hv been more effective than yellow.....try in next...
Best wishes always
Thanks 😊💐

This was magical Lois!! Why did you not lift a light at the junction of trees and water horizontally?
Thanks, in hindsight it would have looked good!
@@LoisDavidsonArt On the other hand, not underlining the junction adds to the mist effect which I find really emotional. Great painting and thanks for your sharing !
Hi Lois, loving your work :) There is a donkey on the left in the bottom of your paint tin tray, is it really there or just paint marks?
great , it is so much nice , big like from me for your video , , have a beautiful day
Thank you!

dang i really need a flat brush lol

Another wonderful painting Lois ! I don’t see the link to become a patron, also I have never done this before. Sorry to ask✌️😘
Thanks Cheryl, the link is in the description below the video on the desktop version of RUclips!
Lovely, I like the Chinese calligraphy brush, could you tell me what brand?
Thanks, the brush is unbranded, just search online for bamboo Chinese hake brush
👍 👍 👍 🌷
Thanks 😊💐

Really nice! What's the name of the big brush?
It's a hake brush, Japanese in origin and pronounced 'harki' as far as I know
