Thank you Mr. Chen for a simple yet effective process. Can I ask what brand of paper you used for this painting? Some watercolor paper can not sustain rubbing. Thanks
These two brushes are wonderful. The calligraphy brush comes to a fine, delicate point for detail and the one-inch smoothly covers a wider area. Definitely worth the investment. Lovely, quiet painting! Thank you, professor Chen!!
I'm a big fan of your instructional videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skill. I've painted along with you and I plan to paint this beautiful sparkling ocean scene too.
This will definitely be my next project. The jewel like sea is a memory realistically of the years my husband and I had a sailboat.. I think I will make my sails tan bark red as I always wanted to have those beautiful sails on our boat. I will work to do a good job over the next many months to have it as a gift for my husband for our 45 th wedding anniversary. I do enjoy your teaching style, no stress, no unnecessary talking too much or music that would not be in harmony with your instruction. Also the video where your journey was shared is so fascinating. Thanks for all. Marjorie from Georgia US👩🏼🎨🙇🏼♀️👍🌻⛵️
Thanks for sharing your expertise! I followed your instructions and demonstration and painted this scene. It turned out beautifully. I'm a beginner and I was happy to paint something so well. I could never had done I without you$ video. 😊
Yong Chen Thanks for your great tutorial. I enjoy listening to you and your explanation of using color and blending colors. I painted this with three fishing boats and some seagulls in the distance, but 99% of my painting was from your great instruction. Thanks again sir. Don Sylvester Houston, Texas
Thank you Yong! I enjoy learning in your class and following up with the videos. For me, this lesson was more about taking risks and being ok with them. Like you say, "Watercolor is easy to fix, no worries. Just relax and have fun!" And we did. :)
English is very good indeed. Teaching and paintings are awesome. Just says the word “color” wayyyyyyyy too much. Red color blue color yellow color.....
This brought back memories of when I tried out the boat on a river mountain scenery tutorial 4 years ago? I gave up watercolor two years ago because I didn’t feel like doing art anymore. Now I want to do art again and this channel found its way to me again 🥺❤️
I found your technique outstanding for representing wave action. The issue is horizons on the ocean is rarely a line of breakers. The day the ocean is not darker than the sky is not a good day to be sailing.
thumb up again! I used a big round brush and it worked fine. Instead the calligraphy brush i took this time my Da Vinci Dartana- Spin for the small lines. Thank you Mr.Chen for an other great lession! You are the best teacher for me! I had a lot of fun!!👌👍
Me too, me too! Cloud reflections are even harder for me. Sometimes his water pictures look wet, simply because of his talent to turn simple into realistic, and effortlessly. He's sure a "must watch" artist!
I love the way you teach. I gave up on watercolors because it just looked terrible and just use acrylic paints. You have given me I hope the knowledge to be able to do this painting. I am so excited. Thank you.
I just found your channel, and I’m so glad I did. Yesterday I was doing a project and used masking fluid. It was a Daniel Smith brand. It adhered to the Arches so badly that it ruined my painting. It left sticky residue that attached to the watercolor, and some of it wouldn’t even come off. Does the masking fluid go bad with age? I’ve had it about 2 years. Maybe when I used the dryer it made it stick worse. IDK, but now I’m afraid to use it.
Lovely video, well explained and results are superb. I don't know who did the thumbs down but as an artist myself, this is an excellent video to refresh your skills. Thank you for sharing!
Would you share the pigment numbers of the blue, red, and yellow watercolors you use, please? Very pretty sky and sea. I can't wait to try your techniques.
At about 5.30 you painted on top of the sky which was still wet. This caused cauliflowers which you later cleaned off. So why did you do it in the first place?
Great lecture! Too bad I just finished drawing the ocean not long ago. If I had watched this video before drawing it, I should have known to get the masking fluid to help with the sparkling. I’m more confident in drawing with pencil but I wanted to enhance my drawing skill so taking the challenge to paint with watercolor, which I’m not quite familiar with. Still a lot to learn!

It is a beautiful technique, I just have a quedtion about composition. Why do you put your boat directly in the middle?
I love your videos.
Very beautiful! Thank you Yong!
I love listening to you.
I learn so much oh my god. I like how you explain things. Im definitely subscribing. 😁
Wouldn't it be easier to avoid the hard edges as scrub them off later.?
Beautiful thank you for such a nice lesson
I feel the sky is the most difficult to do and mine either get cabbages or too sharp edges .
Me too, me too! Cloud reflections are even harder for me. Sometimes his water pictures look wet, simply because of his talent to turn simple into realistic, and effortlessly. He's sure a "must watch" artist!

喜欢看你的教学通俗易懂,更喜欢你只用三个颜色画出美丽的画。谢谢你的教学。
不客气,谢谢你的到来和陪伴。
What is the best way to adhere my a3 paper to the board
Me encanta como usa el pincel ancho y los colores que logra.
Would you share the pigment numbers of the blue, red, and yellow watercolors you use, please? Very pretty sky and sea. I can't wait to try your techniques.
