    OMG! That’s incredible! I have problems painting rocks and I tend to spend way too much time creating them. I must try your method which seems almost magical! I hope I’m able to make my rocks look as realistic as yours. Thank you so much for this tutorial! 👍 ❤️

    It was very clear just how moist and thick the paint needs to be to get the effect of scraped rocks. I noticed you varied the shapes and sizes too, which is important - it’s easy to make them too similar in the rush to prevent the paint drying. Thanks very much.

    thank you so much for this tutorial. I have tried for years to think of an easy way to do rocks- I applied your technique to a painting of fishing boat in a cove with rocky shores- it turned out really well- thanks so much- really appreciate it:-) NOT being able to do this, kept me from painting many different scenes.

    For a customer once I did a faux finish on one wall, after I finished and left she called and said a face was in the finish and could I come back and remove the face because it watched her. I couldn’t find it but she pointed it out and of course I fixed it.

    • @LoisDavidsonArt
      @LoisDavidsonArt  3 года назад +2

      It shouldn’t do as good quality watercolour paper is manufactured to take a lot of heavy work. What paper are you using? 100% cotton is best, but quality pulp paper should also be ok, some cheap papers will break up quickly

  • @viridian4388
    @viridian4388 3 года назад

    Oh that's wonderful, thank you!
    If I may ask one thing: is this doable with 80% cellulose paper? There is a huge shortage of materials at my local and non-local craft stores, and I have 300gsm, 80% cellulose, 20% cotton paper and that's the best they could do.
    Would it damage the paper if I started scraping?

      Hi Sue, I can’t find it on EBay anymore but I paid about £8. You may be able to find a cheaper online if you do an online search, I know they do crop up from time to time on EBay and Amazon. Sorry I can’t be more helpful, any large hake should do a similar job!

      Sorry, it may have been Millford then but it says SW in the description below the video, and I can’t remember now. I’m a bit scatty🤔😉. Millford is made by the same company that makes Saunders Waterford, it’s another quality cotton paper made to be like the famous Whatman paper that went out of production

    • @anthonytaylor9232
      @anthonytaylor9232 2 года назад

      @@LoisDavidsonArt Yep. Whatman was good. My favourite used to be Bockinford, but that all changed a few years back, when, I suspect they changed their source of supply. I was in contact with St. Cuthbert Mill, and they told me they had recently changed the drumming process, as a result of which, they agreed that the textured finish of the paper was, now, too mechanical. And in my view, it still is.
      It used to have such a beautifull random textured surface to it, it was an absolute dream to use.
      I came to it originally via Edward Wesson, he originally had a great input and influence on the Mill and its production. Sadly he is no longer with us - Happily I do have quite a few of his paintings!
      Peace.
