Before Steve Nash, the Suns were like a race car with no driver, and he filled that role perfectly. Sure, the "car" might be powered by the talents of people like Shawn Marion & Amare Stoudemire, but it goes nowhere without the "driver." Where others spun out, Nash excelled. That's why he was the MVP. He made the system work.

      @@noahberry5786 Nope.
      1. scoring isn't everything. J Kidd was 2nd in MVP voting in 2002 with 14.7 PPG and it was a close one.
      2. 2005 Lakers didn't even make the playoffs.
      3. 45 wins (2006) are not enough. Lebron & Dirk had a greater MVP case if not Nash.
Deserved or not, he had a MVP valid case for both of them.

@@noahberry5786 Kobe who "does not pass the ball" led the league in assists? where did you get that? Even Odom had more assists that year!!! Also, his best steals season was in 2003.
Nash lost 3 scorers (injured Amare, Iso Joe to Hawks and Quentin to NY) , made Diaw and Barbosa relevant and Bell had best season in his career. That's overachieving. Cast who stepped up is more correct than had more help. Valid MVP case.
And like I said if not Nash, it was either Lebron or Dirk before Kobe.

The thing with Nash is that he won it right as he joined the suns. He turned a 29-53 team into a 62-20 team. I feel like it’s very under appreciated. Even though he didn’t have the best stats he definatly had one of if not the biggest impact on his team.

05 was Nash's first season in Phoenix and he brought the Suns from a .35 lottery team to an instant championship contendor and had the 4th best season to season win improvement behind the 08 Celtics and 90 and 98 Spurs, he DEFINITELY deserved it in my eyes. However I would agree that he should not have won in 06. BTW I'm Canadian so if you wanna call me biased then sure

Or with the superstar method it’s worth acknowledging that going from not in the playoffs to being good but a non contender is not more significant than good non contender to true contender. It’s much harder to turn 60 wins into 70 than it is to turn 30 wins into 40.
