    Hey, Hannah I notice that when I raise my ads to 10$ a day all my listings spotted on the 1st page of the Etsy Listings but when I turn it off my listings gone on the 1st page. When I lower the price of ads to 1$ my listings got spotted on 3 page. So it means ads will help me to rank my listings depending on my budget. On your experience what is the best choice on Ads is it to maximize visibility or to drive short term order?

I am constantly working/tweeking and researching as my goal is to turn this into a lucrative income. Should you keep ads on for something that's been getting alot of views but no sales (4k views-3 sales) most of my listing are 1- 6 dollars

    Thank you for so much value. I love that you addressed using other metrics to determine the profitability of the ad. I know that my ads have generated more money than what is reflective in the Esty Ad performance data - ex. initial sale stemming from an Ad click and then multiple orders coming in from an event based sale from a link shared with a group.
    I just wish I could figure out how to make Etsy spend my money. Right now I am running a 2.5% conversion rate on my ads and Etsy only spends about 10% of my set budget of $100 with 300+ listings advertised. If allowed, I would up it to the $1k, but Etsy must have some sort of incremental increases built in to its algorithm.
    I would love it if you could do some kinda lesson on your pie chart. I have no problem doing an expense pie chart, but the profit piece of the pie in the example always throws me off. My mind goes back to reporting charts I created for sales in my previous job and I view the Profit slice as Payroll and so I know I am missing something big for those new businesses that don't have a profit. lol

    Hi Hannah, discovered your channel today. Few questions ❤ 1. I opened my account last year but I opened up my shop a few days ago. Is that something that Etsy sees as negative? 2. I saw that there is a pro option. Imo not much extra for $10 pm. Do you think Etsy also favors pro shops over non pro shops? 3. Do run more than 1 shop? I’m considering (once this one is up and running) to open up 2 more stores. If you do run more than one shop would you say it’s a good decision? I just have a few big passions but they are all very different. I want to keep my niches clean. Thanks so much for making these videos. Soon I’m going to marathon watch all of your vids haha. • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  Год назад

      If you have organic data and some good indexed listings you def want to fuel your fire and add some ad spend behind those organically selling ones. Historically if you have never spent on ads in the beginning that marketing cost % might change your net for the worse but over time as you tweak the dials you should be able to scale way passed where you currently are.

    I'm spending this month testing out different ad budgets, I've done $50 for a week, then $125, $250, and now $500 but as I increase the budget my Ad Spend stays around $50 (no matter the budget limit) and my revenue and profit are declining. Any thoughts? Next week I'm upping to $1000. I've been doing stages so I can gather data on each level.

    • @bearr1942
      @bearr1942 Год назад

      Etsy has changed dramatically since April. It doesn't matter what your budget is now. They have screwed up majorly. I used to have $50 a day and my sales were crazy. After April. 0. Literally nothing. Changed it to $5 a day and Etsy only took around $3 a day. With or without sales. There are tons of sellers will tell you this and have tons of complaints about this. So it's not you. It's Etsy. Don't waste your money. So her video would only be good or make since up until April.

    • @itsmichellehinsberg
      @itsmichellehinsberg Год назад

      @@bearr1942 I've been doing $1000 Ad Budget since May and my results have gotten better over time: May was $1,221.30 (AdSpend) and $1665.36 (Revenue) - June $476 (AdSpend) and $1,369.04 (Revenue) - July $772.51 (AdSpend) and $3,168.58 (Revenue) ... I think her advice still stands. And I believe the theory is with an Ad Budget of $1000/day you are telling Etsy you are willing to outbid your competition not that Etsy is going to spend $1000/day. In fact, you want to look at your ad results each month and try to get the ad spend number down while increasing the revenue by eliminating listings that aren't giving you a good ROAS. Also you're listings need to be top-tier and fully optimized for this to benefit you in my opinion. I made adjustments for my product offering in the first week of July and the increase in sales was almost immediate.

      This is my theory as this is how most ads platforms work, amazon, FB, google, etc. Unlike these platforms where it is shared public-ally Etsy is super cryptic and does not but I would imagine it would be no different for Etsy. If I was a business who would I give that ad position too? the guy saying Ill give you .30 cents a click or the guy saying ill give you .35 cents a click. You know what I mean? But that is just my opinion and I am not telling people what to do I am just sharing what I do personally.

    I greatly enjoy your videos and your vibe, Hannah, but it's worth prefacing that this video's information is only useful to sellers who sell/resell from large inventories. Some sellers on Etsy, myself included, are hobby makers, and we don't have large inventories and that makes big advertising budgets redundant. I am also a customer on Etsy and from that side of the fence I see Etsy's marketplace is totally flooded with mass-produced product coming from cheap labor forces and that greatly detracts from the initial appeal Etsy once had.

    • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  Год назад +2

      Thank you so much for the love and watching! I totally understand your perspective. I also make everything in house but what happens with these third-party selling platforms is as they become flooded with competition eventually, it will push out all of the mom and pop shops that just do it as a side gig. You can either evolve and make your processes scalable to build a more serious business or unfortunately overtime Your shop will get drowned out. As someone that does not sell print on demand or any of those digital downloads low barrier of entry models it’s definitely harder for someone say like me or you that in order to scale properly you are forced to restructure your business model in order to make systems that are sackable and that make sense financially. Harder task? Yes, but with it as usually brings a stronger moat around your brand long term. Competition forces us to build better businesses, and put systems behind all of our processes, to make it a legitimate scalable business.

    • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  Год назад +1

      An example of this is, if you’re making things made to order, you would want to consider fine tuning your design or process or even the types of product you launch so that you can make it to hold inventory.

      I make my jewelry myself and without ads I would probably make one sale a month so it is 100% worth it, I price my jewelry on the higher end so ads totally worth it, I found that not everyone buys cheap mass produced stuff because and I do not compete on price and still make good sales but only because of ads

    I don't know if I should wait a bit and let SEO do its job (for 1 month for example) and :
    1) see which items sell (I add 1 product sheet per day) AND then only do paid ads for these items?

      This is contingent on a few variables. Could be yes could be no
      1. Yes, if your store front is optimized with 20-50 reviews and it collected multiple hundreds clicks and 0 ATCs
      2. No, if your store is brand spanking new with little no reviews, if its showing signs of hope with ATCs
      3. Yes or No depending on how comfortable you are willing to invest before you give up (for me I invest 40-60 in a listing before its uncomfortable but I sell high ticket items), if it is a low ticket item and it has spent an uncomfortable amount of money stealing clicks from your other listings with no signs of momentum

      How many listings do you have? If you have hundreds of listing and a lot of searchability with your words this could be causing that, but also keep in mind that if your store is super new and have no reviews, ads are going to be more expensive for you, then say somebody who is fully optimized. I turn off the ads when they either hit a threshold of spending a certain amount that I’m like OK if I invested that much in the listing and I have zero return on ad spend or really low organic sells I’ll turn it off.

Your budget being spent on a day to day basis is contingent on many variables but the way it is spending is also normal. Do not analyze from the day to day but from the month to month, that is true valuable data to look at. I would not recommend opening a business if it is too risky for your livelihood as it takes money to make money so you have to be willing to lose / invest money you are willing to lose

      So I actually made that comment before watching your whole video.
      Upped my ads to $100 (which is my max) and I made 7 sales the same day. Didn’t spend the entire budget, only advertising my best listings.
      Thank you for your advice 😅 sorry for the dramatic comment.

      @@EcomHannah okay SO. I’m currently making out my ad budget at $1,000 per day. I ended up focusing it on my best listings and any new listings. I’m doing really well. It’s only been two weeks.
      I also made sure to add videos to all of my listings and improve on the ones already doing well / make similar listings to those.
      I’ve been binge watching your videos and I’m so impressed with the value you’ve provided.

    I used to watch your videos and enjoyed the content and visuals. Now I only can listen to audio since your videos use excessively distracting effects. It doesn't add anything to the message, it is highly distracting and it just downgrades the production to cheap level of a TV reality show. It feels like a desperate attempt to keep the attention of the listener on the contrary does quite opposite.
    Just be confident in yourself and you won't need any fireworks to amuse the crowd. Best regards and good luck!

    yikes... this is painfully bad advice. You've posted how much you make on etsy and shopify and there is no way this is sustainable or good.
    First thing... etsy is an algorithm that makes money, they don't favor sellers based on psychology, the favor sellers that sell. If you have good products that sell etsy will push your ad ahead.
    While marketing budgets are a thing, 80% of revenue is insane... you should put ~5% of your revenue or expected revenue toward marketing.

      Hmmm perhaps watch the whole video to hear the whole strategy, I do mention all these things above. 80% of revenue would be insanely high but sometimes brands do have to spend that much when they first launch or any business really. Also I am just sharing what I do and what’s worked historically for me. My 7 figure brands usually sit around a 10-15% marketing cost percentage so we beat the market average of about 20%. I think what you saw was the income from the ad, remember that’s not top line sales and you want to look at your business as a whole not “your ads generated you”. 5% is extremely low for a new business but like I say in the video something is better than nothing and you also don’t know what that 5% actually is when you launch since you do not know what top line will be. Obviously the goal would be 5% haha that would be amazing
