Hey Hanna! Thank you so much for this great explanation! I just have one question: do my tag words or phrases need to make sense? For example, in the example you provided, after writing our main search tags like thin green scarf , lets say I decide to use a tag like "Great Gift for Wife" which makes sense, but could I also add another tag that uses for example just adjectives and write: "Warm Cute" (which does not make sense)? What if I use up all the 20 characters available and write something like: "Warm Cute Handmade"?? Would this work for searchability? Thank you so much for your answer :)

I need some advice! I started a woodworking etsy shop in 2020 and just recently put it on a break in 2023 at just under 500 sales. I want to start a POD etsy shop - do you recommend I start a brand new page or relaunch/rebrand my existing page?

If you already have momentum on the existing account, I would keep it in that account since it’s way harder to open a brand new account nowadays especially for POD

What you think about this scenario: In my Tags I have the main word but then I write the main word with a s in the end (to make that plural) and in in reverse so I make 3 tags.
You think i'm wasting 2 tags ? Etsy will automatically reverse that (If someone type in reverse for example) and make that plural as well ?

No I think that is good, but try to have long tail keywords in your tags as well so for instance "Silk Scarfs" instead of "silk" and "scarfs" separate, mix up and play with placement too

According to SS, Etsy has put limits on the competition column. The number doesn't go above 1000 in many cases. I am currently working with SS on this.

Odd question, but in my very niche market, I didnt invent something, but I designed something that isnt really in the market, so when creating keywords, its hard because no one has really searched for it. What do I do in that situation?
Use the detailed words but also think of broader times it could fall under, gift for her etc could you share more info on the item I could see if I could help out more
Ugh...I just spent an entire week updating my titles based on what another course said (doing the way you showed not to) - guess I will be spending the next several days replacing them all again. Makes me really wish Etsy had a revert to a certain date feature. Thanks for the video.
I have changed all of them 3 times since November as well, and that's for 150 listings 🙈 but they are performing much better than the previous one!! 450% increase in visits from seo in last two weeks 🙌 but I have high priced products so only one sale from it 😄

I think I'm using the wrong data source for searching key words and tags an such...I think I'm going to try the Samurai..It looks alot better than what I use..
They all will give you different types of data but yes, sales samurai is good too

I am somewhat familiar with website SEO and I want to get your thoughts on these topics:
1) You covered SEO in an search on the website Etsy website. My google search results often contain Etsy products ... how closely do you think Etsy SEO is linked to Google SEO?
2) Following on from above, Google searches strongly favour natural language. It seems that Etsy is going that way, do you agree?
3) Using the Etsy API, alt text can be supplied for uploaded images which is very important in web SEO. Do you use this SEO method on Etsy images?

1) you def want to optimize in accordance to google if you plan on running offsite ads, with the exception of a few things most things that are high-ranking on Google are going to be high-ranking on Etsy as well

Actually I have opened a new shop on etsy and I have leather products.. but I was looking for some catchy keywords which is used by people. so in your video on 8:10 your were showing keywords,Like how people searched .. I also tried that method but I couldn't get.. so I was asking did you used any third-party app for keywords search ??

Wow. I'm getting ready to open a store and just watch a video where they worked the title so it has a bunch of long tail keywords.
Baseball Gift for Her Baseball Mom Shirt for Baseball T Shirt I Love Baseball
to create long tails like:

Gift for Her
Baseball Mom Shirt
Mom Shirt for Baseball
Baseball T Shirt
I Love Baseball
and others inside the title
She also did a second title mixing up T-shirt, tshirt, and Tee Shirt
I definitely need to figure out how to approach it.

Do NOT change any seo on listings that are getting visits/sales you're happy with. It'll 'reset' the listing and depending on what you change, you could kill that listing. If it's getting a lot of visits but no sales, it might be worth killing that rank bc it's not bringing in the right people (assuming that's your title's fault and not something else) it's complicated LOL but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
