Lastly, you seem so genuine and not just here for profit but have a passion for helping/teaching. Nick,
    I stumbled upon your RUclips channel while watching another RUclipsr discuss the lengthy process of learning SEO and getting products ranked for new Etsy sellers. As I listened and tried to grasp the details, I found myself growing disheartened, almost convinced that attempting to sell on Etsy was an insurmountable challenge. However, as I was about to close the video, I noticed your channel's thumbnail and decided to explore its content. I'm so grateful I did, as the way you articulate and break down everything provided me with the confidence I needed to believe in myself and my ability to tackle this endeavor.

    I have a question regarding tags. When you suggest that the seller should use two words per tag, does this mean that these two words need to create a cohesive pair (eg "trendy son") or we can pair them up randomly (eg "wedding university") and it has the same effect? Thank you in advance for your helpful advice!

    • @etsyconsultant

      Hi Mystic good to hear from you. The problem with all these sites is:
      1 Their data is not from Etsy, and is inaccurate
      2 All sites make the fundamental mistake of not understanding how ranking works, it does not come from SEO at all.

    Nick I’m so grateful I found your channel. You are so transparent and truly want to help people out there. It really shows as oppose to any other Etsy so called expert on You Tube. 🥰 You have opened my eyes in things I truly did not think about… I opened my Etsy shop on 2021. I’m a children’s book illustrator and even though I’m using print on demand, I’m trying to make cute and unique products with my art. When I opened my shop I did make some sales but it’s slowed down so much. I think my problem was I worked hard making around 40 listings and then I pretty much left it thinking it would be a form of passive income and boy I was wrong. You made me realize it’s my fault so I’m slowly adding a new listing every day and also starting to change my titles and tags like you explain here. I can’t think of anything else that can explain this other than I left the shop inactive for some time. I want to thank you for what you do 💕

      Hey AP thanks for your story, and for the feedback on what I do, I really appreciate it.
      Yes, as you have found out there is no such thing as passive income on Etsy, it does not exist. When stores are left not doing much their revenue always ends up going to zero.

    I’m loving your videos! Can you give some examples of how you put the words you have listed for tags together (from the who, what, where list you made)? I’m confused how some of those could go together.
    Also, should we not repeat the title keywords in the tags?
    Thanks so much.

    • @etsyconsultant
      @etsyconsultant  2 года назад +4

      Hey Caroline, you do not need to repeat keywords in your tags, not necessary.
      ALL keywords are cross matched by Etsy, all you have to do is describe your item to your customer as accurately and completely as you can, Etsy will do the rest and match your words in your title and tags to the customer search query.

    I absolutely loved your video, it explains things in a way I have never seen before. But it did leave me with a question about tags. In your example my tags would be things like “son university” or “brother stag do” so I’m just unsure as to how Etsy will use those tags to know that they are about a tshirt and show my item to potential customers?

    • @etsyconsultant
      @etsyconsultant  2 года назад +1

      Hi Sarah, and thanks for your comment, and the feedback! So, Etsy will cross match ALL your keywords to a search query...if you have the keywords that the customer has searched, you are then ELIGIBLE for that search.

    Hey! Thank you for this video. My Etsy shop has been doing quite well for last few years but I can see a significant drop in views/sales in last few months. I was sure that to be rank high in Etsy search all tags must match the title and be included in the product description. As I sell amber jewellery, I had a lot of similar tags or similar phrases in my title and tags such as: amber earrings, amber earring or stud earring, stud earrings, studs earring stud earrings for woman, baltic amber earrings etc as they have really good search volume. I used marmalade and now I use salesamurai to find the best tags for my products and this video literally blew my mind.

    Very helpful. Here’s a question, though: Regarding Etsy titles does it make any difference whether we use or not use commas, dashes, or any other limiter? Does using a comma break up the way Etsy “reads” the title? If commas are not used then it becomes possible to have many search terms in one title if you see what I’m getting at?

    This is such a different style compared to what everyone else teaches for Etsy SEO, especially for tags! They come out reading so strangely. @@etsyconsultant oh I just thought of one more thing… what are your thoughts on trending aesthetic niches that the young folks are all about (I’m pretty young but not that trendy so I’m just learning about them). Think “cottagecore”, “light/dark academia”… a new one I found that I got some traction with is “bookish” for my reading themed mugs.
      Do you think these trends are worth following and working into your keywords? I’m just worried they come and go pretty quickly and it might backfire if a term goes out of style.
