I have been on Etsy for only 2 years. First-year did about $30,000... This year just under $100,000. I never knew that there were Alt tags for images. That is crazy. Something so simple I missed all this time until I saw your video. Learned a lot with this video... going to create a new (3rd) shop... I will be putting this to work to see what happens... and will advise. Thanks for taking the time to put out your videos. They are helping sellers new and seasoned.

wow! Lets face it, you didn't exactly lose out by not using alt tags. How on earth does anyone make a living on here. I've followed advice, I've researched, i've seen stuff sell that even I can't get my head around. Still not getting sales.

    • @lecourageuxame100

@@DameNelson I wonder the same thing! I have an Etsy shop for 2 yrs now. And I researched about SEO and use Pinterest & social media and my annual income is only $1,500! That to me is realistic for someone like who’s clueless about running a shop on Etsy. Anyone who succeeds right away have either one of the following: experience in digital marketing, has a marketing or business background, or social media savy! You must be knowledgeable one way or another! Cuz man it is hard to grow your shop! 😩

I opened my shop jan 2 with 60 listings. Made my first sale 2 days later. I add anywhere from 3 to 10 listings per day. Now it’s Feb 6 and I’ve made 75 sales and I have about 130 unique listings up. I’m constantly adding more which is very time consuming because each item is unique and can only be sold once. I HAVE been running ads, $1/day, with the goal to compete with similar shops. I feel secure that my product, photography, videos, and descriptions are top notch. My conversion rate is 2.1%, it would be higher if I lowered my prices, but I’ve decided I will not lower prices until it’s time to renew the listing. None of my listings auto-renew. Revenue for January was around $2500, my actual profit after all the fees and subtracting COGS was about $750. I will say that I put literally every spare moment I had into running this shop, photographing, measuring, writing listings. But I don’t mind the work because I’ve chosen it & no one bothers me and I listen to podcasts and music, or I do listings while also watching dumb TV.

@@avtarkirtankaur6838 mostly it was the cost of the goods I sold. One thing I sold out of my personal collection, I bought it retail for $750 and I sold it for $850, so that was a big chunk of it. Great information but you said to spend an hour on Etsy and then said just list one item a day! Listing one item doesn’t take an hour so what are we doing in the meantime to take up that hour time on Etsy? You also said to sale things 10.00 and up but I’ve seen a store that had 65,000 sales and she sales digital item and she has alot of items under 5.00 at that price her store is still successful.
Sometimes I wonder if listing items at .20 cents each if it’s better to just buy a store from shopify because you get more listings than if you list an item for 20 cents each on etsy😮

How foolish of me to watch more than one of those videos as someone about to start up. You have mentioned a couple things like: video, product in use, it's normal to not sell anything in the first weeks, don't use etsy adds, don't make more than 20 of one item to begin with. These things really made some lightbulbs go off and/ or put my mind at ease. Thank you! Subscribed!

But within those 5 minutes, you managed to convince me to get on board with you. That has to be a record. I am guilty of taking Etsy as a side hustle or a joke before and well I got what I put out. Thank you for your honesty. Ok, now going back to the video so my 4th attempt is my last😂 Cheers from France

@@etsyconsultantI definitely will. I am a bit late for a start in January but are working toward opening the shop this February so I can build stock for Q4. I am going for a niche a printable word wall art around affirmations, astrology, manifestation. When researching it seems to be a good niche that sells well and it is also a topic I really like. I plan on starting a website of my own that will be alimented by my RUclips channel traffic (when I get some😂). Any thoughts on my plan ? I also plan on booking a consultation with you at one point but at this point I could only afford the 5mn consultation. My question would be about my niche. Do you think I should book a consultation or the niche I explained before is ok and I should wait to have a well stock store (100 to 200) ? Thanks in advance

I've started publishing on January 1st every day my digital products and, as you said, it's hard work. I started to be disappointed because I don't have a lot of traffic yet, but you're right. I have to be patient and keep publishing. (I'm just brand new!!)
I have about 30 more products ready to publish, but you're right, I have to see what is working to know what to design. So I will lower a little bit on designing and keep more time on Etsy watching, observing and researching.
I found your videos logical, practical and most of all, very useful. Thanks a lot!

In 2018-19 I had a Etsy shop making decals & shirts. I made my first sale on my bday, I'll never forget that! I made just over 1,000 sales in my first year. It all happened so fast that I didn't really realize & appreciate how well I was actually doing. It didn't take long for folks to start stealing my original artwork & selling it cheaper than me. My sales dropped. I had a case where I got scammed by a buyer & Etsy took their side. I lost the item & my money. I was also working full time outside my home at the time & it got to the point where my Etsy store felt like work...like a chore, rather than my once beloved passion. I was burnt out & discouraged. Then covid hit. After so many blows all at once, I gave it up.... Now I'm a stay at home mama to a toddler & I've been dying to get back into selling on Etsy! I have so many new designs (that I'm definitely going to watermark & protect alot better this time!) I'm really appreciative of all your videos here on RUclips! ❤ You're awesome!

@@serendipidy watermarks on every image you upload, even your mock up images. I use photoshop to to add my watermarks & make them the lowest quality Etsy recommends (2k pixels wide). I even tried to "steal" my own artwork by then taking those photos into photo shop & trying to clean it up. My watermark was still visible. Now can people upload it to procreate & trace my artwork? Probably, but I don't think there's any way to stop someone that dedicated to stealing someone's design. But the watermarks and/or a copyright warning usually keeps thieves away.

Being patient is hard for me. I run ads right away after listed the items because I have validated niches & optimized listings(have good title, tags, description & video). I run the ads for about 1 month, turn off those that don't sell & continue the ads for the selling items. I've been on Etsy since November 2022. For November, the revenue already covered all the fees & got a little profit, so I don't have to use my own money to pay for anything. It was the same for December, thanks to Q4 season & it was part of my plan in 2022 to open Etsy shop during Q4.
For January so far, my Etsy Finance balance is already positive. My initial aim for running ads was to get those sales count quickly & gain the data. I was ready to invest for the costs, but turned out the revenue itself can cover the fees so I'm happy. Now, my focus is to get my shop to 1000 listings within this year based on the data & statistics that I have. My shop is selling digital products, so it has a streamlined process-research, create & list.

I follow your channel for a while now. It seems that I came across you a little bit late. I opened my photographic store in October last year. In my first phase (without any previous knowledge) I put bit over 100 item to my physical wall print shop. At the beginning I use a lot SM too. Since the moment I found you channel I change completely strategy and also store design. First I decided to split my shop into to sections physical print and digital one. Than I stopped SM and started to focus on SEO, general design and one day new listing formula. In October I had around 160 visits to my shop, next month in Noviembre i reached almost 190, in December I hit over 320 and I sold two digital files in Xmas time. January started again bit slowly, 81 visits so far, so 8 visits per day roughly. I am not in rush with my store, I know that product I sell is very personal and definitely not high demand. I will keep with one day listing strategy until I reach 220 item in my store so, few more days and than I want list one photo each second or third day to keep regular routine going. I am not sure if my statistic numbers are correct or if I do everything right, but I try follow you advice. Big thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I came to your channel from Reddit and honestly you're such a breath of fresh air. I love how honest and straight forward you are. So many people try to spin etsy as this passive income but I can't wrap my head around what is passive for them? It takes A LOT of work and I just pushed my store live with some listings this week. Now I have a concrete plan to follow for those 365 listings (cries). I do have several ideas for digital downloads -- are you of the philoshophy to stick with one thing (ex printable art) or try a mix throughout the 365 to see what will get more sales and traffic?
