Hi there! UK-based. This happened to me ONCE when this feature first came in. I complained to Etsy and quickly realised they didn't give two hoots. How I fixed it without any help from Etsy (and btw their fix they sent you is nonsense lol) is I never ever write a price in before I hit the toggle switch to bring up the domestic and global pricing. And I'm talking about when I'm first listing a new product. I deleted the first listing that glitched and started again because I immediately didn't trust it. I think the glitch occurs when you write in your domestic price, hit the switch and the number always vanishes over to the global pricing box. Even if you edit it, it's like the first number you've provided "sticks." Anyway, sorry if my fix doesn't help anyone, but I've stuck to it and never had the issue again. Etsy's interface is so silly and broken, stay vigilant! There's aaaaalways something.
The thought of having to delete and relist 190 listings on the off chance that it will fix it is a nightmare lol. BUT thank you for sharing this, it might help someone else out! I didn't think to check whether only the 'old' listings (the ones I put in my shop before they changed to the new listing process) were affected - but to be fair, that is the majority of my shop, so it didn't occur to me.
I stopped selling on Etsy 6 years ago, after they ripped the guts out of my little business by redirecting international buyers away from me. I’m now wanting to list one new product and quite frankly don’t care if it sells to overseas buyers, but I will take your tip on board, so thank you for sharing.
Are You selling somewhere else & can /would You share with us? I am about to start Etsy shop, but aparently they're not caring for their customers! I know some sellsites in Europe that are improving techniques for their customers, latest one was to fill in text based on pictures, that one just have to check if it is correct & maybe add somehing..👍 Blessings 🙏🕊️🌟
This happen to me roo as a UK seller. I contacted Etsy and they denied all knowledge of the issue. My US customers sometimes paid the UK price for items. The fix? Switch off Global and Domestic pricing. The problem is you get penalised for not offering free shipping. But it solves the problem. So glad to hear its not just me having this issue. Thanks for putting the word out there.
Happened to me also. A USA customer bought a ceramic item paying the domestic price (I live in Italy). I was appalled. I had to cancel all the domestic prices, so I basically lost the domestic market because now prices are too high. Such a bug in a big company is unbelievable
I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY MONEY BACK (AFTER ALMOST A MONTH) If it hadn't been for this video, I wouldn't have been able to see the mistake, which I originally thought was mine. A thousand thanks!
Honestly, if I were a software developer, that would be a massive market opportunity (to create an alternative platform). I'm not working for Etsy, but I'm quite familiar with the corporate environments and how they are trying to save money (including in IT). Wouldn't be surprised if they are not fixing the issue simply because they have no clue how (and not because they 'don't bother'). Their codebase must be huge and they probably outsourced all IT support to India and all good in-house software developers have left.
Thank you for your in depth assessment of this situation. While my shop falls in the realm of hobby rather than livelihood, I have never done free international shipping. I have been on Etsy for 2 years selling handkerchiefs. My handkerchiefs are the same price for both domestic and international buyers. I offer free shipping in Australia, and a flat fee for international shipping (currently $23AUD). This covers most shipping costs to Europe/UK, and covers all shipping costs to the USA. I offer international buyers free shipping on a second item if they buy 2 products together, as shipping costs to me are the same for 1-2 products. In fact, I can ship internationally up to 4 items at once before size and weight push the parcel up to approximately $30AUD. 😊 Considering your products are small, there may be some value in prompting your customers to purchase a second item with no additional international shipping fees, if you can post 2 items and still fit within Australia Post fee guidelines as for 1 item. From a buyer perspective, if they have an eye on a few things in your shop, free shipping on the second item effectively saves them approximately $30AUD if they decide to purchase in conjunction with their first item. Also, don’t forget buyers are paying any shipping costs in Australian dollars, which is a bargain against the British pound, euro, and American dollar. My products are inexpensive, yet people still purchase internationally. Sometimes the shipping is more expensive than the actual product. Yes, I was surprised that people would do this. I wish you all the best, and appreciate the time and effort you so generously give to educate Etsy sellers.
Thanks for another great video Jess. This has happened to me more times than I can count. I reached out to Etsy after seeing your first video on this subject and they gave me a token refund. But when it happened again I got the, I will have to pass this to someone higher, comment and then an email saying sorry there is nothing we can do. Unlike you I put it in the too hard basket and didn't follow through with it. It is very frustrating and so now I am also keeping a close eye on my listings but maybe I will turn it off like you suggest. It has been so long, I really cant believe they havent fixed it yet. It's so very frustrating.
I am so pleased I came across this video!! This had been happening to me for months but I assumed it was me. I never reached out to Etsy at all. I spent hours one day in the summer checking over 350 listing's and fixing this issue to then find it again! It will take me absolutely hours and hours to try and find the affected orders 😢
This was a good reminder to go and check my listings and I just found that 4 of my recent listings had the wrong prices. It won't even work every time I try to change the price, it just sets it back to the same as domestic shipping. Thank you for this video and the advise on getting Etsy to refund the difference. I'm from the UK
Thanks for bringing this up, Jess! Etsy has definitely been overdue for some strong competition to shake things up. They’ve gotten too comfortable knowing most shop owners don’t have many viable alternatives. Their fees are at least double what’s advertised when you really scrutinize the details of a sale, their customer service is awful, and they show no willingness to address the thousands of "manufacturers" posing as crafters-which is SO unfair to genuine artisans. That’s why my husband and I decided to close our Etsy shop, build our own website, and focus on driving sales directly to it...
Hi Aussie based seller here. This has happened to me too often to count. I've reported it but I'm getting nowhere with Etsy. I'm going to stop using the function as it's costing me too much $$$$. Thanks for a great video.
I'm in the UK and I would love to offer free international shipping but this glitch happened to me on my first sale after offering it and I turned it off, I ended up having to cancel the order, I can't remember what Etsy said to me when I reached out but I don't think they were very helpful! Thank you for bringing this issue up I thought I was the only one
I'm sorry to see your frustration. I am operating in negative on etsy even paying etsy adds and etsy plus. Yet getting less than 30 views a day. Customer service don't know what to do.
THIS! Everything you said and feel is what I felt😭 6months went by where I got the same response and emails over and over and no solution. There was a definite tech problem. They caused me so much stress. I closed my account. You are right Etsy doesnt care about International customers. This discouraged me to open my own shop afterwards. Seriously got PTSD watching this. Im so sad that so many other people are going through this too💔
I wish it would be just one major problem with Etsy... But sadly during the last years business with Etsy became totally frustrating. I am in Europe, and for many years I was selling my goods mostly to the US. Americans love our local items, while Europeans never really were too much interested in them. Now Etsy makes me visible for Europe and almost invisible for Americans. I understand, they want to minimize their troubles with import/export taxes and really, the situation with taxes in the US and the EU becomes more and more cruel every year. But in result of such primitive policy my shop lost thousands of dollars just this year. I am visible for people who are not inerested in my products and almost invisible for people in the US, who love my products. It is impossible to fix by using settings, it depends on their new policy and common algorithm. And this is just one of crazy things which happened to Etsy shortly. Troubles come one by one. We loosing our business.
I am glad I have never used that feature. I didn't realise it was setup for the free shipping feature. I didn't like the sound of using 2 different prices for the one item. I'm in Australia and I just got Auzi insurance and they wouldn't cover me to sell my jewellery in the USA or Canada and told me not many insurers will. Auzi only will if you pay 1200- 1500 a year.
We thought we were going mad! Selling vintage items from UK, we have over 2000 listings - this is a complete minefield trying to remember and check prices of each individually different item. Madness.
Etsy need to fix the basics rather than bringing in new functions and algorithm changes. Time to get back to basics, this is one of many issues with basic functions of the site.
This happened to me also, exactly as you have described. When I first noticed the glitch, I went through and double checked each listing, opening them up and fixing over 150 listings individually. After this, the summary page looked correct (one price for Canada, a different price for everywhere else). But the listings did not stay fixed and randomly reverted to domestic pricing. It's been making me insane. My working theory was that when I went in on the app to update the photos, that's when they reverted. But I honestly don't know why it's happening and I'm so frustrated. For now, if I update anything with the app, I go in on the desktop to double check the pricing.
Thank you for the video. I'm also an Australian based Etsy seller and over 90% sales are through Etsy. I've been emailing them all the incorrect orders coming through over the past 12 months with next to no response. I was reimbursed initially and now they're saying they'll only give me 50 free listing credits when they owe me over $1500. I'm not giving up emailing them though I know it's probably hopeless. I wasn't aware of the dashboard issue with price difference and just changed a few listings thanks to you! Such a shame these issues aren't being resolved!
That's a total nightmare, I'm so sorry they're treating you like that. KEEP pushing them, heck, feel free to send them this video! I reckon I only got all my money back because I'm 'known' and I wouldn't take no for an answer.
its so true this glitch is been happening with me as well. i'm small Etsy seller and am from India. Firstly Etsy stopped transactions in India so Indian Buyers are not able to buy from us Indian Sellers, which is frustrating because i had around 70% of Indian customer base. and then this glitch happened and buyers outside India were being shown my domestic prices when i paid attention it i already had 4-5 orders that were undercharged.
I'm in UK and send quite a few packages abroad, I've never saw this but will keep an eye out just incase. The other thing that bothers me is the vat customers abroad have to pay, especially as I'm not vat registered!! I'm under the threshold, feel customers are getting ripped off as paying the price then additional tax on top.
another issue not addressed by Etsy for the benefit of its shareholders seems to be the effect of the new EU/NI rules that came in on 13 Dec - watched a video made by a UK seller, seems so many small sellers won't be able to afford to comply - unless Etsy steps in to provide the required EU agent platform
Thank you for sharing this. I have had a similar but different problem. I don't use free shipping on my listings but I do ship globally and am also based in Australia. I recently (2 days ago) sold 2 mugs to the UK and the shipping price charged was $3.79. They shipped from a POD provider in the US and that was cheaper than the US price! I sold through Printify and never, ever even look at the shipping because it's all pre-set. They basically said that the problem was not on their end. I know it wasn't on mine. I've lost $15 for each of these sales ( manually changed the shipping price after - I should go back and check that it's still changed) and now, I'm wondering if the problem is Etsy? Have you heard of this happening before?
It could perhaps be Printify who should have shipped from Europe or the UK if the mug is the same, or maybe you did not enable this option because their quality score is lower? Off topic but I think it's disappointing that they say they are global companies and thus will automatically pick the closest provider, but then in reality aren't because mugs can be different or items like the glass cup are only produced in Europe or certain colors shirts aren't available in the US or EU. I also am planning to start a pod store on Etsy via Printify by the way, am based in Europe. Depending on the specifics of your mugs you could ask Printify for help. Did you enable the option to automatically pick the closest provider? Sorry I wasn't of any help and hopefully your problem will be solved soon!
Thanks for making this video. I have been selling on Etsy for 3 years and recently I have really given up on it. I am looking for alternatives to Etsy, do you have any advice?
I’ve noticed that if you make any change in the listing it changes the prices Eg. Swapping pictures around, editing tags, change number of items available. I raised a ticket with them about this, funny they were acting like they never heard of this being an issue before. I’ve noticed if I copy a listing, I loose all the price information as well. It’s frustrating, I have 31 different variations in my listings, I told them I can’t keep manually editing all the prices.
Same thing happening from Canada, my domestic and non-domestic prices keep changing. And my tags weren't displaying properly. The tags on my lisitngs when viewed on etsy were different than the tags I entered for the listing. I had to make a copy of each listing, deactivate the original listing and then list the copy of the item (and incur the 20cent US charge each time) for the proper tags to show up. For 200 listings.
I had this problem but other way around! People were paying more than they should. Once I saw it I disabled this option right away and never used it again. Your situation is worse than me of course
I'm in Australia.. and not finding Etsy great. I've only been on it since Feb this year though. But I've never been able to keep up with the best way to make things cheaper and be seen in the US. I wouldn't be surprised if Etsy are charging me incorrectly for my fees. I'm only just starting to work out whether I've made money on it or just lost money.
Interesting, I'm in Germany and didn't have this happen with shipping despite having this option turned on. I double checked just in case. However, the prices of listings themselves got changed here or there, without me doing it, and kept overriding my prices.I kept fixing, it kept overriding. It would save what I put, and then undo it. But my sales started dying out in 2023, and now in 2024 they're gone, so ... 😅 If I'm going to put all this time, money, advertisement money and work into Etsy, might as well transfer to my own website since I'm not getting traffic from them.
The timing of this is so interesting. First of all, I'm looking for a platform to sell digital products and that's how I came across your video. But for the past year I've been preoccupied by this idea of what happens to companies when they become publicly traded, and how the soul of a company is lost once it becomes the concern of a board of directors rather than a passion project. Thanks for sharing this. really hope it gets sorted out for you!
Hey Jess, I sell on etsy from the UK, a few weeks ago I noticed that one of my listings was favourited by a customer on the dashboard panel, I clicked that listing and and then, my listing did not display and said: this listing cannot be displayed in your country. Wierd, shouldn't be the case. I checked the listing shipping profile, and uk is selected. Right, so I message etsy and they basically don't know why the one listing isn't working in my own country... They end the message with we will send you an email. They never sent the email, and to this day that listing still doesn't display l. All I can say is that you cannot assume that any of the etsy software works consistently.
I quit Etsy after 7 years. I had a good time with my costumers, sold over a 1000 items and urned a lot of money. No regrets, but it is time to find new way's to sell my goodies.
Ivehad this problem for arround 2 years they said they were aware and were fixing it, i just changed the international orders £3 add the rest into the item price as its £10 to send to anywere else from the uk
My first two sales I have this problem, I'm Canadian seller, started my shop last month, I have one sale to Kentucky , they reduce the price and the shipping was more expensive they charge. My second one was to France, they reduce the price (same item) and the shipping was american one and cost me $18 to ship. Because I 'm new, I was so happy with my first two sales and now I'm overwhelm and complicated because I don't know what to do. Where to start?
Thank you so much for your video, I just checked my monthly accounts and they are excessively charging GST on listings and renewals - almost 50%. Some months the GST is correct other months is almost 50% GST
I'm glad I decided not to open my shop on Etsy. I've been a seller and a shopper a decade ago and to see what's been happening was a really huge turn off. Even the idea of having to drive traffic myself wasn't enough to deter me from opening a shop on my own. I will rather reinvest what I've earned into marketing myself than paying a company that thinks it can tell me how to run my business, while they don't even respect the people who made them in the first place. Dropshippers and AI are slowly taking over. I'd say sure, have an Etsy store, but work on your own store and email list. Drive your Etsy customers to your website (by mentioning it on a thank you note or something). When Etsy goes down, you will have nothing left and nothing to get in touch with your customers. I know it's unlikely it will disappear in a blink of an eye, it's better to be prepared.
I have noticed that when I list and go to shipping , I do domestic , then everyehere else and it tells me this affects 6 listings , well some of those listings the cost to send is much higher , so go to them and check and yep changed , so change back and it affects the new listing , can't seem to win.
I’m from Ireland. In September 2023 I set up my etsy shop to sell my unique small still life paintings and digital art prints. It took me five weeks to perfect my shop and settings. My dear Facebook friends purchased a couple of my paintings and a few downloadable prints to support my shop (Bless them). Three months into the making Etsy shut down my shop for reasons they never cared to explain even after I appealed. Moreover, they didn’t just cancel my shop, I’m also banned from buying anything from Etsy because Etsy automatically blocked my IBAN? This is violation of any human decency.
Hi Jess, I am looking for advice as a Canadian affiliate marketer. I can't sell on TikTok as a Canadian but I am hoping to link a landing page to my affiliates for suppliers on Etsy that I am affiliated with. Do you have suggestions on how to work with creators depending on how much traction I can get them? I started my tiktok a week ago but I have already seen hundreds of people come to my page and tens of thousands of views on my videos.
You shouldn’t HAVE TO daily check that the platform you’re paying to use is working according to what the service provider says it’s supposed to do. It’s on them.
ONE OTHER GLITCH. I've reported this to Etsy and it still isn't fixed. "buyer expects delivery by" is totally wrong and not what it should be. For example I had a sale (I'm from Portugal the client is from the UK) that I had to ship by jan9th (yesterday) with 5-8 business days shipping time but the costumer expected it to arrive jan 7-11 which is impossible. How can the client expect it to arrive even before I ship it? So in order to meet the deadline that the client expects the order to arrive, I had to pay for priority shipping which is more expensive for me. Today I had another sale, same issue again. I'm now going to have to pay attention to that and work faster to not loose money on more expensive faster shipping. Regarding the issue you're talking about in this video, for me on the dashboard it has the same price for domestic and international shipping but when I click on the listing itself, the different prices are correct. But I'm still going to check all of them on a regular basis. Thank you for the warning.
I man, I've heard a LOT of people talking about the shipping time glitch issue. I haven't seen it myself yet, but you're definitely not alone on that one.
Would this not qualify for the etsy bug bounty program? Surely it could be considered a vulnerability as malicious users could use the bug to purchase items for less than the initially advertised price?
I wonder if the correct prices can be seen through the Etsy API. I've been thinking of setting different prices for domestic but I'd also be able to knock up a tool that goes through the listings at a button press and checks whether your domestic and international prices are the same, if you can access that from the API
Unfortunately the API is very limited - as far as I've been able to find, Etsy only allows access to the main (global) price via the API; there's no way to access or adjust domestic prices.
@@planetjune You're absolutely right. There seems to be no way to dig out the domestic price, which is madness. Although, I'm not sure why I expected their API to be any better. I use it a LOT for syncing my Etsy listings to my WooCommerce site but it's always been a bit of a nightmare
Thank you for the video. I also almost stopped using Etsy after the listing format change and charges for promoting. I wonder if this may have something to do with international buyers using VPN or perhaps Etsy just does not care about sellers from the UK and other countries
I'm in Canada and everything you have described has happened to me as well. I've had to learn how to fix the glitch from other Etsy users bc Etsy has extremely poor seller customer service and none of their info helps. I feel that for a company that exists solely as an app, this issue should have been resolved. I can only imagine that their tech help, their computer engeneering, and their coding departments must be the core f their company, so why are they unable to fix this?
I made many complains to, I am a seller from Amsterdam, antique jewelry for 7 years. 995 good reviews, 2.663 sails, 2.287 followers. But sinds the new form, Etsy is done for me. I know I dissapoint my regular customers and I thank all of them for staying with me all those years.
This happened to me! I thought it was a glitch in my computer. I turned off global pricing because of this, I was losing so much money on international postage before I realised the global price had reverted to domestic pricing. I’m in U.K.
I wonder if this is happening because a customer is behind a VPN, masking their real location? I sell internationally, but don't set different prices internationally and domestically - which means I can't offer free shipping on international orders, but this is only a hobby so I don't worry if this costs me visibility or sales.
We think shipping is a lot from australia, yet I’ve seen prices like $90 for five sheets of 320gsm paper from the USA. Our postage is nothing. It’s like the USPS don’t want Americans shipping overseas
they just take the money and there's no help from them. when people unjustly want to give back items that are made personally for them I have to pay them back money and also shipping money to send it back or otherwise they give a bad review and they don't help or delete it neither there's so much problems with everything
I happened to me when i was right starting on Etsy, firts time happened with my second sale there and i Accept It was my fault because i felt a lot new with all the things and i lost money. Second time, i tried to explain the mistake with the buyer, but she cancel the order..... So i turned off that feaure 😢
I found Etsy a very horrible stressful platform too complex Folksy is better, with postage Etsy fees wasnt worth it. the shipping stuff was confusing. im uk based
Can I ask what the problem is with offering free shipping to domestic customers (UK in my case) and then adding extra shipping (minus the free domestic part) fir US and other international customers. That way the cost of the item stays the same. As far as I am aware the free shipping guarantee visibility boost in the US does not apply to sellers outside the US?
"As far as I am aware the free shipping guarantee visibility boost in the US does not apply to sellers outside the US?" No it applies to all sellers that ship TO the US.
Hi, Jess, can you make 2 listings for 1 product shipped domestically and one product ( the same) with international shipping. So the glitch will never affect you.
Hi, I'm based in the UK and this has been happening to me for a year now. As you said it happens randomly!! I told Etsy, they said their engineering team was working on it. It's so frustrating, they never told me to ask for extra money from the customers, but I asked them if I could do that and the CS rep said yeah that's fine. And that's what I do. Some customers ask me to cancel the order, others pay the difference.🤷🥴

I NEVER bought off etsy... too high prices of products and postage....things I did see and like I got for 10 times less on other platforms
For such a large platform, there are too many glitches and ZERO customer service!
Agreed
I'm surprised there hasn't been a class action against Etsy.

Thank you for your in depth assessment of this situation. While my shop falls in the realm of hobby rather than livelihood, I have never done free international shipping. I have been on Etsy for 2 years selling handkerchiefs. My handkerchiefs are the same price for both domestic and international buyers. Oh yes, I have free shipping on additional items, for sure!
That was really informative, thank you.
I have found 15 orders with this issue 😮 the earliest in July 2024!
OMG no! I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you!
Wow, you're such a gutsy lady to take on platforms like Etsy and RUclips.
I'm so sorry to hear this is happening to you too!
That's why I did this video, because I know this has affected SO many people, and many of them might think they're the only one.
I'm sorry to see your frustration. I am operating in negative on etsy even paying etsy adds and etsy plus. Yet getting less than 30 views a day. Customer service don't know what to do.
They know, but don't Care! 🤷🙄
Many thanks, I was thinking of selling to usa from uk but now will stick to uk only.
Thank you Jess for this. I'll be checking my listings today. Etsy has to get this fixed ASAP, as it is a huge loose of your money.
Im so sad that so many other people are going through this too💔
Thanks for your Video, I just experienced the same while selling from Germany into the world 😢
Very informative video, Jess! Thank you! 😊😊😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for doing this video. I had seen a lot of people talking about this on social media recently and wanted to know more about it.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Jess. I'm in NZ and have had this happen twice now.
We thought we were going mad! Selling vintage items from UK, we have over 2000 listings - this is a complete minefield trying to remember and check prices of each individually different item. Madness.
My experience with Etsy, is that they deflect by asking you to do the same thing over and over even though they know they are at fault.
Outrageous!!! 😫
Yeah, it's pretty frustrating!
Etsy need to fix the basics rather than bringing in new functions and algorithm changes. Time to get back to basics, this is one of many issues with basic functions of the site.
That would be nice...
Hi Jess, wondering if this bug has been fixed now.Hopfully ! thanks for your answer
It is SO SO frustrating.
Great video, always love your stuff and your jewelry!
!
Thanks so much!
I'm so sorry to hear about your Indian customer base. This glitch has been a total nightmare!
@JessVanDen i so agree with you
Oh gees. I thought it was something dumb i was doing wrong!!!…. Thnx for the video!!!
Oh, that's frustrating! No, I haven't heard of this happening, but if anyone else has had this happen to them, I hope they'll chime in here.
The sad thing is, that until this "glitch" effects Etsy's profit, they have no motive to fix this.
Thanks for making this video. I have been selling on Etsy for 3 years and recently I have really given up on it. I am looking for alternatives to Etsy, do you have any advice?
This sounds incredibly frustrating. Because Etsy is not a free service. They get so many fees on top of fees and then fail to deliver on their end.
Thank you so much for this information
I’ve noticed that if you make any change in the listing it changes the prices Eg. Swapping pictures around, editing tags, change number of items available. I raised a ticket with them about this, funny they were acting like they never heard of this being an issue before. I’ve noticed if I copy a listing, I loose all the price information as well. It’s frustrating, I have 31 different variations in my listings, I told them I can’t keep manually editing all the prices.
I was on Etsy 15 years ago and I loved it back then, but now I want nothing to do with it. They make it so hard for sellers.
Oh man, that's so frustrating!
Thanks! And you make a good point...
This has not impacted me as all my products are digital. That said my Etsy sales have nose dived this year.
Ivehad this problem for arround 2 years they said they were aware and were fixing it, i just changed the international orders £3 add the rest into the item price as its £10 to send to anywere else from the uk
But we get penalised for not having free shipping I don't get many international orders anymore 😔
I'm sorry to hear it happened to you!
Ugh, that's so frustrating. I'd definitely recommend contacting their support team.
@@JessVanDen did that this morning via live chat, no resolution but they are looking into it, I will get an email reply.
Etsy is not getting correct shipping prices.... Had this several times.
I used to have a shop on Etsy and it was worth it. Now, give it a miss.
Good on you for posting this on a worldwide platform! Maybe Etsy might not treat Australia as the poor cousins with this exposure
That would be nice!
Happened to me too and i was loosing big money!
same happened to me once and I thought I had messed up! I had to cancel the sale.
Si haces impresion bajo demanda y todo lo que vendes se fabrica y entrega dentro de USA, este problema no te afectara
Makers should just set up a co-op in which they are members. Has worked perfectly for centuries and there's full control by the members themselves.
Does anyone know if Amazon is this horrible as well?
it's worst
Would this not qualify for the etsy bug bounty program? Surely it could be considered a vulnerability as malicious users could use the bug to purchase items for less than the initially advertised price?
I have not heard of this, but probably not, as it's a bug they are VERY aware of, and just choose not to fix.
Shipping costs are too much! I never order from etsy.
Thank you for the video. I also almost stopped using Etsy after the listing format change and charges for promoting. I wonder if this may have something to do with international buyers using VPN or perhaps Etsy just does not care about sellers from the UK and other countries
I don't know the cause, but it was happening to the majority of my international sales from various countries, unfortunately.
I have no idea...
I have lost money on Etsy, paid for patterns, said they would be sent and never received them.
It's incredible this is happening....a nightmare
This explains why less people ship intl now.
I,m Spain based, by the way.
BTW the last card did not show on the video Jess.
Thank you! I'll try and fix that.
This happened to me! I thought it was a glitch in my computer. I turned off global pricing because of this, I was losing so much money on international postage before I realised the global price had reverted to domestic pricing. I’m in U.K.
That is an attack on the free range independent creators.
and i try to start a store at etsy and all i get is Reopen Your Shop ,,,,, i have not even open one yet!!
What about VPNs?
I wonder if this is happening because a customer is behind a VPN, masking their real location?
I sell internationally, but don't set different prices internationally and domestically - which means I can't offer free shipping on international orders, but this is only a hobby so I don't worry if this costs me visibility or sales.
It shouldn't as the problem is actually in my shop (as you can see later in the video) rather than on the customer's end.
We think shipping is a lot from australia, yet I’ve seen prices like $90 for five sheets of 320gsm paper from the USA. Our postage is nothing. It’s like the USPS don’t want Americans shipping overseas
I never had an issue. I have free shipping in Canada and tracking to the usa.
they just take the money and there's no help from them. when people unjustly want to give back items that are made personally for them I have to pay them back money and also shipping money to send it back or otherwise they give a bad review and they don't help or delete it neither there's so much problems with everything
Yeah, they are way too quick to side with the buyer.
Maybe I’m wrong but this issue could have to do with VPN ?!?!?
Etsy is deeply broken since like 5-6 years ago…
You could, but that might seriously confuse customers. I've just switched the feature off, sadly.
Noo, you shouldn't have to do that, they are the ones making this issue happen. Sorry to hear it's happening to you.
Is this because someone has a VPN on and they are making it look like they are from your country?
Why isn`t etsy capable of fixing this problem? Can`t they find a good programmer who could fix the fault in their software?
A question for the ages...
