After having a stroke four years ago, I am finally able to crochet again. Before stroke, I was fanatic about crocheting and actually had been able to make doilies and tablecloths with fingering yarn and the smallest hook. I actually was able to make up my own patterns. With with the help of my family, Healthcare team, and a lot of prayer, I have started to crochet again. You and so many other instructors on RUclips, have encouraged me and inspired me to crochet again. I just wanted to make sure somebody tells you how important you are to many of us. While I was in rehab discovered I could do finger knitting using soft super bulky yarn. My right side of my body was affected by the stroke and I found it that I needed to. Develop a system of using both hands. I found I had the Knack of making very long chains and I was known for my colorful strips of ropes, trailing behind my Wheel chair, around the halls. After I moved to my foster home, I was still not able to hold a hook, Loop yarn became my new best friend. All my family and friends now have blankets or scarves and hats made with this novelty yarn. Now on to actually using hooks ghtbecause I had all that yarn I used to make all those miles of ropse and my family decided that they had blankets. I started out with a 12 mm hook and super bulky yarn. I am now using a 6.5 mm hook and graduated down to using the red hearts Unforgettable yarn. RIght now I do need to stay with working on repetitive patterns because my attention span is not the way it used to be. I saw this beautiful wrap and thought I can do this. Problem is I can't hold too many pieces together because of dexterity challenges. Is there a pattern using this sequence of stitches in a row by row a turn? Just hoping. You are very gifted, as well as others on RUclips, sharing your love of this art. I am so blessed by you. Thank you. Oh, I forgot to tell you this is my very first time of sharing my story in print. Thinking of what I want to say, transferring that thought into sentences, and then to scream has been a new experience also. Thank you for allowing me this time. Marj Clinton
What a wonderfully inspiring comment to read Marj! Thank you so much for taking the time to write 🙂 I'm not sure I've seen this done in back and forth rows before BUT I am sure there must be something similar out there - a slanted shell type pattern (of which there are lots) would give a similar effect. Especially if you used a larger hook with your yarn for a more lacey open effect? I hope that somewhat helps, I will have a little play with some yarn to see if I can figure this in back and forth rows x
@@HookedbyRobin I will continue to search also and when I find something similar I will let you know what I find. It really makes a lot to know that you answered my comment so quickly. And I also got another comment that I will be replying to also. I will be looking forward to contacting you again thank you
@@kailat.9127 hi there thank you so much for letting me know that he read my story. I have been truly blessed and I am excited to know others are being inspired by what we're learning on RUclips. I love this blanket and I am hoping that we can find a way to make this a row by row pattern. By the way I live in Oregon what is your area? I love how you can meet people from all over. Thank you again for contacting me blessings to you. When I got my tablet my husband had it put in his name so that's why everything says George Clinton. He's a good man.
Marj, you are an inspiration to me! I have a traumatic brain injury and learned to crochet all over again, too. I am so grateful for Robin and other RUclips teachers who help me on this journey. I enjoy On The Hook Crochet, she uploads interesting videos twice a week, more conversational than tutorial. I am MaryAnne in New Mexico and I have added you to my prayers 💜
There is no such thing as too much information my love! And for the ones that feel that way, that’s fine , but they can stop the video and skip ahead! That’s the great thing about technology, as for me I love watching and hearing everything you have to say and do till the very end and sometimes repeat the video! Thank you a million thank you’s sweet heart 💜 I can’t thank you enough! 🥰🥰😘😘😘😘
Hi thank you for going through the whole sample piece, lots of others just expect you to know what to do, and it can be very confusing and difficult, new subscriber here and I’m looking forward to more of your beautiful work, I’m going to really enjoy making this wrap, Carol from Scotland x
You are very welcome - I went a bit more in depth than I usually do and was a bit concerned I over explained things to the point of confusion so am glad (relieved!) to hear it was helpful! x
Robin, I so appreciate all of your hard work! The fact that you provide so much to us for free is so generous. Your patterns are always so cool and innovative and you are such an excellent teacher. The way your videos are split into chapters is wonderfully helpful! I know how much time goes into filming and editing. How do you find the time to do all of this?!? I just wanted to shout out some of the great things about you because you deserve to know. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us!!!
Hello Robin! You are such a Great Teacher, never doubt about your clear and amusing lessons!! I'm sure everybody enjoys them!! You always encourage your pupils to reach success!Besides, your English is so sweet to my ears!! Thank You for another original Masterpiece, dear!!from Argentina🌹🙋🇦🇷
My sample piece is complete and looking lovely. With Christmas in mind (sorry!) and not being very well at the moment, having to stay in, I thought I'd make three for presents for people I think will like them, matching colour choices to their particular colourings. I like this pattern very much. It gives me just the right amount of challenge and at the same time great satisfaction. Thank you Robin. Great, patient, understanding, teaching.
Hi Sheila, I’m sorry to read you’re not well at the moment.🤗 I hope you’re feeling much better soon and great idea on the crochet presents. Handmade gifts are the best!🎄
Me too! I have 3 balls of it in a bin and now I have something lovely to make with it. I make try to make this with my Latte Cakes that I have stashed away too...

I have started this. I think it looks so pretty. I'm using Summer Nights by lion brand. I'm using 2 strands at a time. Thanks for sharing this pattern. I didn't have any problems understanding the pattern.
Robin, you're such a wonderful teacher, and I LOVE it when you "over explain" because you answer a lot of doubts that I might be having and such. Keep doing what you're doing! I love this pattern, and I'm currently making one right now! Yes, 90 is the magic number. It is looking more and more beautiful the more I continue to crochet this! 💖
Ohhhhh WOW! BEAUTIFUL PATTERN 💕 And this is perfect as a gift for someone special...will appreciate this. So thank you for sharing 🤗 and putting smiles on our faces 💕
LOL don't be fooled, my nails are a lie - they are ONLY nicely painted when I'm filming, every other day of the week they are chipped and horrendous 😂😂😂
Thank you for this beautiful pattern and such clear instruction. Finding your channel is very inspiring and I am so grateful to you. Thank you again 👏🏻☺️👏🏻
I have to admit that in the beginning of joining the rows together, I was scratching my head a few times BUT, once you get going it zips along pretty quickly. I've decided to make myself a wrap using Lion Brand Mandala in the color "spirit" so I've done 115 of these little gems long...not sure how many rows I'll go but this was a fun one to do...Thanks a bunch Robin!
You are so thorough my love that how can we get baffled ?!!! You explain so well and continue the pattern for most of the project which I love and appreciate so so much! You are an amazing teacher! You patience is virtue my dear friend 🙏 to that patience and your teaching so thoroughly I am able to make such wonderful works of art as a beginner! As a beginner and I’m sure I’m speaking for all beginners, it’s people like you, who are kind , patient and thorough that keeps us motivated , excited and passionate about this beautiful craft . This is lovely wonder how it would look using a scheepjes whirl 🤔 I think would be nice to make a light summer blanket if used a cotton mix yarn 🤔 oh my mind is racing lol Thanks for sharing
Thank you for a beautiful pattern n so much patience in explaining it. I have some Eri yarn in natural colour. I'm going to make this pattern! Thank you n God bless! Hira from Pune, India.
I've just started my first column. As I was crocheting, I came up with a name for the stitch; stretched double crochet. Since it has been 8 months since you posted this tutorial, my first DEA is probably irrelevant, but I wanted to share it anyway. I'm loving working this stitch, possibly because I haven't yet tried to join anything 🙃😆
Thank you so much for this. Such a beautiful wrap! I'm a Norwegian newbeginner and you explain it Soo well! Now I have a holiday hobby :-) Too bad about the mohair, but still, thanks for the warning...Maybe next summer then :-)
@Hooked by Robin I really want to make this, but I literally started making a one mile blanket prior to this video popping up AND I have got another 5 projects in progress already 🤪🤣 maybe when I've completed these and my arm stops hurting from so much crocheting 😆
Beautiful pattern! I’ve had an idea to use it to make ‘stems and leaves’, then add some flower appliqués to one end, and tassels the other for roots! I’ll pop a pic on you Facebook once I’m done! Just gotta pick which flowers to make!
Robin this is such a cute and unusual pattern. It is lovely. However, I wish you could slow it down a little at the beginning. I feel I missed something in making the shell and then going on to the next. I've rewatched the video but still I have problems. Well thank you again for a beautiful pattern. ❤️

Finally something to do with all the shawl in a ball yarn I bought 2 years ago
I know! So true. I kept thinking there's got to be something we do with this!
😂
Me too! I have 3 balls of it in a bin and now I have something lovely to make with it. I make try to make this with my Latte Cakes that I have stashed away too...
I got it when it was 5 for 10 and got every color they had and I was just learning to crochet and boy it was a bugger to use.
This was a very well explained tutorial. Talking through each step was super helpful for me as a leftie.

Thank you Robin, I like this pattern though joining is still challenging me a bit.
The written instructions on my website might make more sense than my on video talking? X
Beautiful scarf will try it not very good at crochet but will give it a go
Very nice. I think I may attempt a blanket with this technique + try to attach the second row to the first not the third shell.
That's a great idea!
Gorgeous pattern! You rock!! Thank you!

I'm glad you like it Su! 😊
Ooh nice
😊
So trying this one too
😃🥰
Thankyou how beautiful God bless
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you! 😊
Its very pretty! Thank u! ❤
I have four unicorn tails that I am using to make the scarf. Except I am using a trouble crochet stitch instead of an extended double crochet stitch.
Is it possible to do it without snipping off yarn in one continuous go?
What wizardry is this? A c2c potion? Just kidding, but it is very reminicient. Ingenious!
😂
What a gorgeous wrap. And fabulous tutorial.
Also may I ask which nail polish you are wearing. It is lovely.
It's Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish (either the shade Caramel Cupcake or Let's Get Nude, can't remember which but they are very similar!)
so pretty color and easy to do thank you
Robin, this is such a sweet shawl🧶💞
Love this look...awesome! Thank u💖💖💖
So pretty and love the pattern. Can you do a froggie pls :)
