    Love this pattern, especially with the black and rainbow yarns. I would use two balls of each color and just carry the yarn up the side (not into weaving all those ends in!). Add a nice border to cover up the carried yarn and Bob's your uncle!

    I'm SO glad I saved this stitch because I'm working on a sampler afghan kit that I only have half of and I have too much yarn to just leave it at what the kits gave me, I'm improvising stripes now, this one and the Rice stitch are DEFINITELY getting included

  • @wirralsam
    @wirralsam 3 года назад +11

    I adore this pattern, thank-you. This would presumably work beautifully in the round, it would do away with all those end as you could carry up the strand just used up one row on the inside. It also means not having to come up with a border to help hide ends.

    Hi Robin
    I know this is an older post, but I love the vibrancy of this sample and intend to make an afghan from your pattern and colors -- already bought the yarn. I'm having the hardest time trying to decide on a border. The colors create a "busy" pattern and I don't think I want to incorporate yet another pattern - but again, I'm undecided. I would welcome any suggestions from you or anyone else.
    I don't plan on giving this until next Christmas - so I have plenty of time for comments or suggestions.
    Thank you, again, for sharing your beautiful work, your patterns, and your awesome tutorials. They are truly lovely.
    Cheers,
    Pam😃❣

    to reduce the number of ends to weave in, I do rows one and two on the front side ( returning to the right edge to add color b and work row 2) and rows 3 and 4 from the back of the work. ( againg, moving your work back to the beginning of row three, picking up color b and working row 4) I find safety pin style markers useful to hold the waiting stitches. I use this technique often because I love the look of single row color changes in many stitch patterns. ( the box stitch for example) . in short:
    step one. work base chain and row 1 in color a.
    step 2: slide yo u r work across your working surface from left side to right side WITHOUT TURNING WORK and begin row 2 with color b and work to end of row.
    step three: turn your work, pick up color A and work row 3.
    step 4: slide your work from left to right without turning, pick up color B and work row 4.
    of course, reverse sliding directions 8f left handed
    feel free to use 8n a video. it is remarkably simple if seen watger than described in text lol.

    This is a gorgeous stitch ! I feel like you have to use 2 colors to really see the pattern at it's best.I think I want to try this to make a headband. If I leave the ends a bit longer they can be braided together to make the tie on one side . I think it would be perfect.

      Yeah, I reckon I’m into fringe on projects. I actually want to make myself a blanket with this stitch & the only way it would happen is if I did fringe instead of weaving the millions of ends 😂

    • @katharinawinter3788
      @katharinawinter3788 2 года назад +1

      To avoid the ends, you could use 2 balls of yarn of every color. You'd have a lot of balls hanging on the work, but it also saves some yarn.

You explain yourself very well and I love all your videos . Keep on creating these beautifully stitches patterns. Thank you for all your videos. I love how to have long tails to weave in the ends. There are some people who cut the tails to short. I have had people come to me with there afghans and scarves and others items with all these ends sticking out in their items asking me to fix them. Some I could others I just couldn't. When I come across videos where the tails are short I nicely tell them not to demonstrate using short tail method. God Bless.

      @hart of crochet. I have chronic fibromyalgia, live next door to my 3 grandkids, and cram full time hours into 3 days at Amazon. It is hard to keep up with all the things I want to make!! Especially if I have to concentrate on a pattern. However, now that I know I am not alone, I will keep on trying, without guilt, to make what I can. I wish I could organize my patterns that are scattered on my phone, and do the projects I really like. I seem to start something, and then find another one I like, and forgot I had 3 others going!! I, then, only finish easy blankets. I will keep you, and others like us, in my thoughts when I am crocheting at 2am half asleep. Take care!!!😄

    I love this stitch. I ran out today to get yarns to use it in making scarves for Christmas gifts. 😀💕

    Just scrolling through all your past videos. The thumbnails are a feast for the eyes. As a fellow Brit, I love your voice. Some American accents really grate on my nerves.

    This stitch I will definitely use. It's very interesting and beautiful. Probably a scarf initially. If it doesn't make me crazy, then baby blanket or shawl. NICE JOB and thanks.
