Look at Warren Smith, a teacher in Massachusetts that got fired for doing just that. He's not the only one. He's just the most recent that we know about.

Public schools teach to the average/below average student's capacity. If your child is exceptional, then he will be lost and bored in public schools. Also, whatever your child's academic level is, he will be at risk of drugs, violence, and sex. Public schools are only slightly preferable to your child working in as an illiterate in a factory.
Yes, this is the truth. A policy of inclusion has various levels of mentally/physically handicapped students being placed in classrooms with healthy children. The end result is that the class time is constantly being interrupted by the handicapped students' behaviors, and the material for the class has to be simplified to meet the disability of the slowest child in the room. Thus, the healthy students are learning little or nothing and will not be able to advance to the degree they could. This is intellectual neglect. We are mass-producing ignoramuses because of this inclusion policy. It is a social agenda that undermines the whole educational mission. If only parents knew what goes on in those classrooms.
I had 3 Nuns as teachers the first 3 years in public school in New Brunswick. We were taught what we needed to know, learned to read, write, play music, sing O'Canada & pray the Lord's prayer. My wife teaches music in the public schools. As bad as they are, they sometimes provide a bit of normalcy for children growing up in homes with two "mothers" or two "fathers." (You know what I mean; I can't use the proper word or tolerant/diverse/inclusive/open-minded/non-judgmental RUclips will delete my post.) Boys and girls that are so unfortunate as to grow up in such circumstances are love-starved. They come to school needing the affection and attention that only the opposite sex can offer. My wife tells me of boys that make up all sorts of excuses - they fell and hurt themselves, so on and so on - just to get a little TLC from a mother-like figure. Although she cannot replace a real mother, my wife tries to offer them some gentle motherly compassion. It's tragic; no, it's evil. But some good does take place at some public schools in that the society that now surrounds them is even worse.

I can't help but recall 2 things here. The first being this period of I believe late elementary where we learned about the origins and stories behind the different major religions (Siddhartha's journey, Muhammad's teachings, etc) and I the diligent Catholic boy was actually very fascinated with it and I grew to appreciate and consider all these other walks of life. Now my niece goes through school and I hear all these things her teachers kept pushing on her and I was so baffled. My own mother nearly had a fit when she saw my niece's project on Vietnam and how they presented the war (my family ran away from the Communist regime). Second thing that came to mind is the movie "God is NOT Dead", decent enough movie but it was kinda silly, and one of the main critiques people would point out, me included, is that the University Professor was too comically antagonistic and it was unrealistic. No, pulling out of public school is the answer. Socialization outside of public schools is possible and options are readily available. Homeschool groups, extra curricular sports, free play time outside are all available and preferable to public school “socialization.” Which basically means the least socially mature people possible are socializing your kids with bad influences. Think sexual deviancy such as trans, gay, fornication, porn, etc.

I would not worry about that, plenty of kids go to traditional school and feel isolated. You would just need to be intentional about social time and extracurriculars can be really helpful with that.

He went from barely attending school due to bullying, kids misbehaving in class, being bored, to becoming an engaged student who graduated with a 3.8 GPA and is now a Marine and in university. He went from failing to thriving. As for socialisation, he had friends in the neighbourhood and on XBox as well as his brother. We never did this, but homeschool co-opts offer meet-ups where kids can hang out and engage in local activities like museum visits.

Maybe you're right, but Jordan Peterson did an interview with someone on his own channel some months ago who has been developing and implementing a new type of school system directly geared towards encouraging entrepreneurial thinking and problem solving. Of course it is all probably financially out of reach for the average family, but... interesting to consider the outcomes on the kids' lives and careers who are able to go to those schools.

I’m a teacher and I’m tired of our profession being dragged through the mud from people who only read sensational news and have no idea truly what the institution of education is now. It’s almost a cliche trope at this point to bag on Public Schools. There are still many apolitical and noble, hard-working professionals in schools across the nation. JP really is not describing the modern education system in any honest light here, I am sorry. On a day to day level, this is just not accurate. He should know better. Or better yet, join the field and improve the system from within. Be the change yourself if you believe the institution is so bad. If you’ve been in a school anytime in the recent decade, you would know many teachers have abandoned straight rows of desks for constructivist teaching models and project-based learning. Most classrooms I see are more of in a collaborative “U-shaped” orientation or desk groups clustered by 4’s than anything.

Even the math portions with the word problems are poorly chosen & written. Many of the questions don’t assess children with all funds of knowledge in mind nor are some of them even culturally competent. They’re the antithesis of creative thought and it’s modern education in 2024 that would like to pull away from that old model. Yeah, been there; done that. During my graduate education as a teacher, we were told in no uncertain terms that only 1/2 of our job was to educate students. The other, more important half was to create model citizens. This meant indoctrination in the LGBT and DEI agenda. When one actually taught in schools, any deviation from this agenda would be met by a severe reprimand from the administration. I left when I refused to acknowledge the nonbinary nonsense (sorry, hon, you're not that special. There are only 2 sexes) and voiced my frustration that students with several learning/psychological disabilities as well as those who couldn't speak 5 words in English were pushed into standard classes, to the detriment of themselves and the average students. This absolutely is a broken system which will likely not be repaired in our lifetime. If one has the choice, then he absolutely should remove his child from this mess.

Kids as a group can be quite unruly, and imagine a bunch of kids in a room that don't know each other and are probably mostly disagreeable. Public education may have it's issues, but there is a reasonable application of it, if we really do care about the future of this country. We have to reject politics in education and bring back the thing that made us great which is raising a bunch of curious kids equipped to take on the world.

If you’ve been in a school anytime in the recent decade, you would know many teachers have abandoned straight rows of desks for constructivist teaching models and project-based learning. Most classrooms I see are more of in a collaborative “U-shaped” orientation or desk groups clustered by 4’s than anything.

Modern education wishes to pull away from that infrastructure - not perpetuate it like JP believes. Many comprehensive scores are invalid based on the poor assessment design alone. Have you ever proctored or administered common core standardized exams? Have you been involved in decision making about what questions are asked on those tests? Even the math portions with the word problems are poorly chosen & written. Many of the questions don’t assess children with all funds of knowledge in mind nor are some of them even culturally competent. They’re the antithesis of creative thought and it’s modern education in 2024 that would like to pull away from that old model. Students are taught only to perform on tests and learn to think and retain knowledge in one way only. If you’ve worked in schools recently, you would be aware that many educators are resisting this.
Right Wing dark money plays into this, they want to privatize everything into their preferred charter schools. Peterson is just a talking head for those interests.
Yeah, been there; done that. During my graduate education as a teacher, we were told in no uncertain terms that only 1/2 of our job was to educate students. The other, more important half was to create model citizens. This meant indoctrination in the LGBT and DEI agenda. When one actually taught in schools, any deviation from this agenda would be met by a severe reprimand from the administration.
I left when I refused to acknowledge the nonbinary nonsense (sorry, hon, you're not that special. There are only 2 sexes) and voiced my frustration that students with several learning/psychological disabilities as well as those who couldn't speak 5 words in English were pushed into standard classes, to the detriment of themselves and the average students.
This absolutely is a broken system which will likely not be repaired in our lifetime. If one has the choice, then he absolutely should remove his child from this mess.
The Prussian school system is also the one which our school system is based on here in Poland. And it was designed by the same people thaf tried to eradicate Polish culture & Catholicism, through deportations, kulturkampf & forced germanization. They also are the ones that first introduced compulsory universal draft, compulsory public education, & compulsory state pension system to make people more dependent on the state rather than their families. As you can see, I am not big fan of the Prussians.

I don't disagree with the facts of the matter, but I don't fully agree with Dr. Peterson's analysis. Kids as a group can be quite unruly, and imagine a bunch of kids in a room that don't know each other and are probably mostly disagreeable. Man, a bell is a hell of a thing to help bring order to kids. Public education may have it's issues, but there is a reasonable application of it, if we really do care about the future of this country.
We have to reject politics in education and bring back the thing that made us great which is raising a bunch of curious kids equipped to take on the world.
