Kendrick did a Pop Out Concert on Juneteenth- where he performed "Not Like Us" FIVE TIMES- and everyone video taped it, posted it. Every year, the "On this Day Last year" MEMORY post will REPOST these videos and Drake will NEVER get away from it. Kendrick has taken petty to a level of genius that needs to be studied.

Im so confused as to why that's a bad thing. Nick Cannon and Boosie are not looked at twice or commended for making babies. I didn't keep track of the battle but it seems bias that Drake was criticized for things that give others credit. Having many albums use to be the prerequisite for Champ but here he describes it as Emotions to be laughed at. Now I'll Google who thinks Drake won because this seems biased.
@drtroyturner7464 People definitely get on Nick Cannon about all those fatherless babies he's creating. No man can properly parent that many kids with that many women. That aside the issue with Drake is that he denies and hides his kid(s). Hope that helps 🤦🏾♀️
It’s all about the storytelling. Josh Johnson could talk about his grocery list and we all sit on the edge of our seat. So not only does he have a gift to tell nuanced stories, he also has important things to say.
As a 40 something Black woman who doesn't have the bandwidth to listen to and understand all parts of this drama, this breakdown has been priceless to me! You, sir, have as new fan!
You forgot one of the biggest things… is that Kendrick really took a major shot at Drake’s ego… telling him he’s not for the culture. He took shots at his identity… telling him basically “how many more of these antics before you feel like you’re black enough?” Calling him a colonizer. He literally ripped Drake’s ego and identity to shreds… so much to the point that we are literally seeing Drake going through an identity crisis right before our very eyes in real time. Drake has always been extremely arrogant and egotistic… but Kendrick came along and really humbled tf out of this man. That’s why we say Drake lost… because Kendrick has him questioning himself… who he is and where he stands in this culture. We witnessed another Eminem and MGK moment in hip hop. Eminem made MGK stop rapping completely and that man went to a whole different genre of music all together. Drake’s going in the same direction. Drake hasn’t really dropped too many rap songs since… and actually started dropping and featuring on a bunch of pop songs since the release of ‘Not Like Us’. Almost every song was pop with the exception of that song he did with Sexy Red… literally confirming and solidifying the accusations that Kendrick brought against him saying that he wasn’t for the culture and that he only cared about the numbers and the money. I think that’s when we started to see Drake’s demise in this beef. Drake went low… and Kendrick took it to HELL!
Questioning yourself is usually a sign of intelligence and maturity, so maybe Drake might have even evolved and learnt something in the process and should thank Kendrick for it. 🙂
This reminds me of when MJ and Eminem was beefing about what Eminem made a video about Michael Jackson getting burned in a Coca-Cola commercial basically degrading from Mike clap back when he brought his catalog and shut em
I enjoy how respectful his comedy is. Like the whole “pick a member of the audience who clearly won’t know the thing you’re mentioning and explain to that person so you can make sure everyone knows” is a standard comedy thing but a lot of times it feels like the comedian is picking on the audience member and it didn’t feel like that. Props.
Props to the guy in the front who got the names explained for the rest of us. Like that one kid in school who asks the dumb question when we all were wondering the same thing

Do you know how funny it is that Kendrick is dissing Drake for being a bad father? Like rap has this image of being all about street cred and it used be disses about how you can’t get women, and now it’s like “he’s not a decent man, he doesn’t live an upstanding life”
That's why it's a big deal in the culture. Bc the kids of absent fathers grew up. Being a deadbeat is now one of the worst things a man can do in black culture.
@@AS-kf1olsame reason why so many guys are now “soft” raised by mostly not too many good fathers/parents, bc they were raised in likely very bad circumstances, and the next generation is usually always trying to change what the past did “wrong” in their eyes

"It's hard to act hard when everyone knows you have health care." ...and that is the operative commentary here. When Kendrick refers to Drake as a "colonizer" he's really making a profound point about how much more difficult and dangerous life is for people in the US compared to how it is in Canada. Certainly, Canada has crime, poverty and policing problems, but the US is so bad that it can be said of people from other countries that 'They aren't like us." From this viewpoint Kendrick's 'colonizer' critique of Drake is really a critique of how little progress the US has made in addressing the very serious problems that it has.

A bit of an asterisk here for some more clarity: Kendrick was clowning Drake for acting as if he came from a culture that he had little to no idea about. Skin tone was never an issue for Kendrick. Yet Drake, once again misunderstanding things, thought it was about skin color.
People always take it straight to skin color to try to gaslight Black people. Like skin tone is the only way African Americans can be insulted. We have an entire culture that many people want to pretend doesn't exist as our African American culture takes over the world.❤
Well it would be pretty hypocritical of Kendrick for going after Drake based on his "skin tone" as you put it. Drake is mixed-race. Kendrick's partner who has the same "skin tone" is also mixed-race race like Drake.

Josh: I think now it's over.
Kendrick, releasing a video for "Not Like Us" two weeks later: It's over when I say it's over.

@@baronwarborn9107 And went to the Emergency Room?
"It's hard to act hard when everyone knows you have health care."
...and that is the operative commentary here. When Kendrick refers to Drake as a "colonizer" he's really making a profound point about how much more difficult and dangerous life is for people in the US compared to how it is in Canada. Certainly, Canada has crime, poverty and policing problems, but the US is so bad that it can be said of people from other countries that 'They aren't like us."
From this viewpoint Kendrick's 'colonizer' critique of Drake is really a critique of how little progress the US has made in addressing the very serious problems that it has.

We have an entire culture that many people want to pretend doesn't exist as our African American culture takes over the world.❤
He tried to do a Chappelle, but went too far with the farce
Well it would be pretty hypocritical of Kendrick for going after Drake based on his "skin tone" as you put it. Drake is mixed-race. Kendrick's partner who has the same "skin tone" is also mixed-race race like Drake.
