What surprised me regarding the convertion is that : A person converts to Catholicism after earnest study, sincere research, reflection, prayer and dedication. Whereas a person leaves Catholicism after a quarrel with the authorities, personal greed to satisfy ( divorce, abortion..)... Etc
"A strong protestant becomes a catholic; a weak catholic becomes a protestant." I don't know where I read that, but it proves to be truer and truer with every conversion.
It seems often true; but still a bit of an over generalization. Some certainly come to Catholicism for other reasons. I've known several who became "Catholic," or more dedicated "Catholics" through aberrant teachings and "spiritual practices." Ugh! Many turn to Catholicism (or Protestantism) based on reasons that are light in theological content, but moved in their spirits. Others come through studies. Some come to Him having had a religious experience, and others by an intellectual awakening to truths of the Faith.
@@nelsonstone467 No one cares about the difference between heresy and orthodoxy? Or I assume you mean left winger atheists who can't be bothered to educate themselves so they lump all theists together? Either way you are wrong.
Dr Hahn's conversion story is never boring. He had the best intellectual grasp of the issues he was struggling with, and passes on his milestones. He is an Every-Protestant in his story.
Wow!! This is exactly what has been happening to me. After 46 years in the Pentecostal churches I can't stop reading everything Catholic and am busy with several books of the fathers. Have been shocked to see that what we call Christianity is actually a watered down joke, compared to what these forefathers went through. If I had know about this as an option earlier I would have considered religious life as a Vocation. I just still cannot swallow the whole praying to Mary thing, there is just no scriptural reference to this. However I have renewed respect to the worship, rituals and prayer life, inspired by my recent study mentor who is a nun. Would love to listen to more as I have no one to ask. Thank you for sharing
I find it strange that these people was willing to send him to Catholic U for his degree and yet spit and hate Catholic. I find his remarks on Calvin and the spiritual presence. My husband had a friend from Venezuela and move to Spain since her dad was Spanish and married a JW and they visited the USA and us and we were seating at dinner table and he was preaching his JW believes to me but in Spanish and my husband explain for me. they believe he raise from the death in spirit only. I looked at him and said how do you call yourself a Christian when you do not believe in the Resurrection of Christ Body and Soul ???? spirits do not eat and HE eat with HIS Disciples after HE Rose from the Death. read your bible..... HE is the SON OF GOD and HE died for all of us unworthy sinners. Nothing is impossible with GOD. Carlos translated and he looked at me with shock. I was raised in a protestant town and the things they said about the Mother of Christ and that we worship her made be fight for the teach and fight for HER HOLY PLACE as the Mother of the SON of GOD then. so I was fighting for the Truth than. and I am praying everyday as best as I can to find for the TRUTH of CHRIST TEACHING to stay and spread instead of this Modern teaching of bowing to today form of Cesar and making HIS TEACHING to suit people way of life today........
If you believe the Catholic church has gotten everything right about Christianity chances are they got it right about Mary too. If you don't understand right now, it's okay. Submit your will to that of God's true Church, and you will soon see how much Mary can help bring you closer to her son. Her whole existence was/is for her son.

Does "the one true church" mean that I am not a Christian Fred? I know that's what Rome teaches, I'm just wanting to know from your personal theology - Rob
Yay! I've been so close to returning to Catholicsm after 16 years away. During that time, I got involved in the occult before completely bottoming out in sin last year and turing to Christ. As someone with some occult understanding, I'm very cautious about Mariology and don't want to worship annnnything that isn't the one and only God. And yet, I feel Christ asking me "who do you say I am" in regards to devotion to His true church and recieving the Eucharist. Anyway, long story, but I discovered Scott Hahn recently and he's been helpful in getting a right perception on things in Catholicism and it's good to see him here.
Do not turn away His Beloved Mother because of your experience with the occult. Pray instead to see and love her as Christ saw and loved her 🥰. Keep seeking the Truth. May the Light of Christ illuminate your path.
I took a long time , even after the most astonishing experience of God that followed my going to confession after 10 years of being too smart for the church. She really is the light of the world and don't have any fears at all about Mary, the woman God chose to bring Christ into the world. If we did not revere her and seek her help as Christ tells us to pray for each other...then THAT would be weird. Welcome home No Jo. She .. the church is the most wonderful and beautiful thing on earth despite the failings of all of us. I am very happy for your present and future happiness. Wonderful.
We could never love Mary more than (how much) Jesus loves her. Mary brings those that ask for her help to her Son, Jesus. Her last spoken words in the Bible are: "Do whatever He [Jesus] tells you." Even in Sacred Scripture Mary points to Jesus. So, any soul drawn to Mary belongs to Jesus. Also, there is no rule that you have to ask for Mary's intercession, one can pray to God directly, if that is what you are comfortable with. However, there is no denying that mother Mary's intercession is powerful. To use this simplified analogy: if our direct prayers reaches heaven, prayers to Jesus through Mary doesn't just reach the throne of God, Mary delivers these prayers and earnestly places them in her Son's hands (as it is her privilege as His mother.)
The Blessed Mother, as Jesus’ Mother, is our Mother in Heaven too. When we pray, we ask Her to ask Jesus (perhaps he is saving a town) for our intention. Our intention may be to protect someone or for good health for someone etc. That is not worship. If our mom on earth was here we would ask for the same. We would ask mom to ask dad for something. I hope this clears it up for you, from a cradle Catholic. Non- Catholics will tell you differently, but does that count? Be at peace brother. We are glad to have you back. Jesus is overjoyed. As a Catholic, I really respect Dr. Hahn and his decision to become a Catholic, and on another note, I can also bear witness and say as a Catholic that some Protestants can also lead others to Christ because one of my Grandfathers was a Protestant and he played a very important part in my return to faith in the risen Christ Jesus.
Love Scott Hahn, his awesome books & conversion testimonials: never tire listening to him: his re-kindled love for the Bl. Virgin & the Rosary is so spiritually inspiring! Never tire of listening and reading about him!
Hi Dr Hahn. Saw you in Charlotte NC about a year ago at St Thomas Aquinas. Got three degrees at Marquette in English. Felt the same way. Could not proceed in life without fidelity to orthodox Catholicism. Sent me in a direction I couldn’t anticipate but do not regret
Someone had told me once to just accept where i was at in my ignorance, and i was like nope... keep searching for truth. Inadvertantly, it led me to orthodox and catholic dialog, and theology, and it really really seems like catholics have one out.. or in other words, the seat of st. Peter. Id much rather know truth about Christ's actual church and teachings rather than not know, and be lost in my faith life for sure.
Very few like Dr Hans could change. We are naturally rigid. Now we are hearing, listening and understanding thru the eyes, experiences, wisdom, knowledge etc... from them. Heaps of thankyou.
Scott Hahn’s videos were instrumental in getting my dad to convert to Catholicism. He is a wonderful presenter and provides excellent reasoning behind his own conversion.
Awhile back, I asked who is Jesus Christ...through Catholicism I learned that a friend has a deeper connotation ..I desire to believe the authenticity of the Eucharist....my spiritual family...’timing is everything’🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I worked at a Mennonite Brethren church for a few years. I came to realize that they PLAYED church, but the Holy Spirit had nothing to do with their preaching. God and Jesus were casually mentioned, but never taken seriously. I had to walk away. The Catholic Church is the one, true church.
I am currently reading Introduction to Christianity and also De Lubac. I have read "Jesus of Nazareth" and men, never was my life the same. Fan of De Lubac and Ratzinger here
I am a protestant and after many of these videos I am still pretty firmly Protestant. However...I have seen that the reason many people become Catholic has less to do with actual expressed doctrine (which to be honest I really think the Catholic church has messed up big time) and more to do with lived doctrine via the liturgies. There's a sense of awe and severity in many Catholic traditions. Catholics are meeting in cathedrals whole protestants are meeting in the local high school gymnasium, and I think that can cheapen the, in my opinion, the more accurate theological teaching of the protestant church.
Same my friend. I think we protestants could benefit from regaining a sense of the magnificent and the sacred in our spaces of worship. I can't stand gymnasium churches.
...Not even Pope Benedict himself - the most Erudite Catholic in the world, could have possibly fathomed the beauty, awe, humility and wonder of moving away from Protestantism and into Catholic Church. I think His Holiness himself would have agreed. I can see it in Dr Hahn's face when he talks. He was knocked off his horse too.
Protestant seminarian, author, speaker, minister... Left to study Catholicism these last two years and likewise, gave up my career. I've given up on RCIA and am now meeting with a Priest 1:1. The Eucharist is a big deal for me... And frankly, Marian Theology really appeals.
The only home Christians have is in heaven. How can a Christian knowing the word of God be content with participating in the perversions of the Roman church like the doctrines of transubstantiation, purgatory, Mariology, indulgences, etc etc.?

I was introduced to Dr. Scott Hahn's Lamb's Supper quite by Providence at the age of 70 and keep lapping up and sharing all his sessions since then. Dr. Scott Hahn is so focused and clear on our core beliefs as Catholics. His passion for the Eucharist is so precious. At 1:27. What Scott says about the change to weekly communion is true. I was in an evangelical church which only had communion 10 times per year. When I joined the LDS church I was impressed that they have sacrament every Sunday. The sacrament is the star attraction of the meeting, with hymns and speakers being secondary.
I'm one of those few kids from Scott Hahn's youth group who did not become Catholic (about 35 years ago!). I'm researching it now and considering it. I need to understand Purgatory, the role of Mary & the use of the rosary and a few other things. I love the history and the architecture and so many things, but I need to make sure I wouldn't be doing it because I want to, but because it is theologically sound.

I just subscribed to your channel, right now. I was "born and raised" Catholic (grammar nerds, vocab pedantics, get thee behind me!) and I returned to a deep appreciation of R.Cath. lore after some hiatus. Normally, a channel like yours would leave me really cold and irritated because I have seen too many lay-people behave "more Catholic than the Pope" (do people still say that?) : to my mind, that's no better than atheist OR evangelical extremists, or any others. But most of your episodes are, on the contrary, to my estimation, very balanced and thoughtful. Even when I might disagree with a discussion and/or guest, the final result in your show gives me happy pause to reflect.

Surely you can teach him, cos anythng is saying has any sens. Come back to the word of God and it will appear to you plainly
What surprised me regarding the convertion is that :
A person converts to Catholicism after earnest study, sincere research, reflection, prayer and dedication.
What is with you catholic weirdos. No one really cares about the difference between catholics and protestants these days.
Or really meets Christ for the first time through the preaching of the Gospel.
I love my catholic faith. And I always love to watch and listen to You Mr Scott Hann so inspiring. God bless you both. Watching from New Zealand 🇳🇿❤🤗

And so am I watching from New Zealand 🎉
Mary is the Queen of Heaven. She can and will intercede for you. The rosary belongs to her. What does your mentor say about her?
As a convert to Catholicism at age 48. I struggled with the Mary aspects. Look into the Blessed virgin Mary as the Ark of the Covenant .
Also read the story about the wedding of Cana in the bible and where Jesus dying on the cross said, behold your mother.
"playing church", "counterfeit"...perfect description of what I feel when I go with my folks each Christmas to their Episcopal midnight "mass"...I was baptized Episcopalian but converted to the Catholic faith and one true Church in 2013 at the age of 51.
@Vera haha maybe. But God works in mysterious ways. Take Steve Ray, for instance.
Somebody once said that "There is but one Lord, one faith, one baptism."
Does "the one true church" mean that I am not a Christian Fred? I know that's what Rome teaches, I'm just wanting to know from your personal theology - Rob
@@KnowMyFaith it's not my personal theology. It's the Church founded by Jesus Christ.
@joe johnston your are obsessed with the word cult. Which cult are you in?
Hey, I guess you know about the third eye too? Because I need some answers, can you help me please?
The Blessed Mother, as Jesus’ Mother, is our Mother in Heaven too. When we pray, we ask Her to ask Jesus (perhaps he is saving a town) for our intention. Our intention may be to protect someone or for good health for someone etc. That is not worship. If our mom on earth was here we would ask for the same. We would ask mom to ask dad for something. I hope this clears it up for you, from a cradle Catholic. Non- Catholics will tell you differently, but does that count? Be at peace brother. We are glad to have you back. Jesus is overjoyed. All he wants is for you to ask for his Mercy! Try Divinemercy.org In Peace💖

I wish I could “like” a clip more than once. I watch this for the third time in the last year, and want to keep pressing “like”
I am a protestant and after many of these videos I am still pretty firmly Protestant.
I love Scott Hahn program Everytime..
...Not even Pope Benedict himself - the most Erudite Catholic in the world, could have possibly fathomed the beauty, awe, humility and wonder of moving away from Protestantism and into Catholic Church.
Scott Hahn is the real deal.
