This routine wasn't actually as bad as I've been told, I'll watch day 2.

Too bad she couldn't get her switch ring quite like she did in 2008-- she was great at that skill in her prime

kras118 She was never great with that skill, she always lacked amplitude and shouldn’t even be credited for the skill.

She had a fantastic switch ring on floor always and did it great in 2006/beginning of 2007 on beam, but she soon started to cheat on switch ring and not throw her head back far enough on beam. She got away with it because the hardest part of switch ring is getting the back leg up high enough and Nastia did that amazingly well.

    Late on comments.....
Did those connections get credited? By the current code, almost all of them had significant pauses.

Would she had made it in the Olympic team if they had six instead of five, like in the 2008 Olympics.

I dont think so, She wasnt ready. I think Elizabeth Price might of made it, she was an alternate.

Yes, Nastia tried to make a comeback in 2012 to make the London team, but didnt leave her self enough time to really prepare

She should've started training in 2011 but she didn't and it got to her.

Wasn't she kinda passed her prime in 2012(as far as gymnasts go)?

She was 22 and from what I know had not been back to training for all that long, so I wouldn't necessarily say she was past her prime, but she definitely wasn't prepared. Gymnastics shape is sort of different than almost any other sport. Even a couple of months off from training can really be felt when you get back into it. That plus the mental game and I think it all unfortunately worked against her. Too bad, because she is one of my favorites. Would've like to have seen her at the games one more time.

Amanda Ok thanks as I wasn't sure as it seems like Olympic gymnasts are typically under the age of 20.

Really, I love gymnastics and ice skating (figure and pairs skating). But the artistry while brilliant from the stocky short athletes is not a beautiful as everything Nastia does. I find myself exclusively watching her performances and ignoring the rest. And with ice skaters, I only look at performances of those who share Nastia's physicality. The rest don't have the elegance. The announcers are overly critical of Nastia apparently preferring the short stocky athletes.
