SweetnSourSoren Agreed! Once I read your comment, I knew she was gonna stick the landing :) Yeah, this is slightly better than what I previously thought was her best beam routine (Beijing EF).
this is probably the greatest balance beam routine in the history of gymnastics. Like literally , this was a 100% perfect and flawless routine. No balance checks, she connected all her skills, no form breaks, and she stuck the landing. The absolute best. She was phenomenal on this event. Maybe the smallest deduction because her legs slightly crossed on her dismount but that’s literally it. Other than that, this was an incredible routine.
Ehhh great routine but plenty of errors that would get slaughtered in 2017-2020 COP. Switch ring -0.1 (back foot at shoulder height, not to crown of head), crossed legs on dismount -0.1, -0.3 for sheep jump feet below shoulder height and also no difficulty value, -0.1 for not hitting 180 degrees on switch half (you can see she's very clearly off in another angled youtube video titled "nastia liukin bb pac 2008", leg not completely horizontal on full turn -0.1 and also downgrade to simple turn, -0.10 flexed feet on side somi..
@@emmsy9295 okay, that's only 0.8 in deductions, where the top gymnasts lose at least 1.8 on the international stage. OBviously, her connections are questionable in the 2017-20 quad though.
Her body line is the most ballet like, poised, elegant, and dance like I have ever seen. Her moves are the most aesthetically pleasing I've ever seen. God bless this girl, she was born talented!
That was simply PERFECTION. Does anyone have any idea what a 9.8 in execution ON BEAM means these days? That score was huge, and the best part is that she totally deserved them.
And people still think she didn’t deserve to win the Olympic AA. She was absolutely ROCK SOLID throughout that whole year, peaking epically at Beijing. The queen of gymnastics!!
This is THE Single most perfect Beam routine I have ever laid my eyes on. It’s so satisfying, I could watch it over and over. Everything in this routine was text book.
Her routine here is beautiful! It's very reminiscent to Nadia Comaneci, Olga Kurbot, and many beautiful gymnasts back in the '72 & '76 Olympics. She definitely deserved the gold here! :)
what could you want more from a gymnast than such a strong and really nearly perfect routine. Nastia at her best! love to watch it again and again even if it was so long ago.
The best beam routine of all time. Stunning. Should have been a 9.9 in execution at MINIMUM, the ONLY thing wrong here were the crossed feet on the dismount. Not a single bobble.
I got 0.1 for the slight arm adjustment after the L-turn, 0.1 for leg separation during the sheep jump, 0.1 for slight arm adjustment after the Liukin, and 0.1 for crossed feet during dismount, so I would've given a 9.6, but maybe the code of points back then didn't consider some of these deductions. Nonetheless, I personally think this was the best routine of her career
MC Hernandez i didn't think there was necessarily anything wrong with the wolf 1/1 maybe just a little slowly connected which should come out of the d score not execution. but there's no doubt about it, this was an amazing routine
the BEST routine shes ever done if she had competed that in the beam final in bejing she would have beaten Shawn...dont get me wrong im glad for Shawn i lover her...but this was amazing!!
This was AMAZING. But still had too little deductions. I have to say her L turn, sheep jump, and switch ring had form errors along with crossed ankled on the dismount and landing with her feet slightly apart. That said, this was probably one of the most flawless beam routines ever. Not deserving of a 9.8 E score, and more of a 9.4-5 at a domestic meet, it was still really good.
I'm sorry if I come off rude, that's not my point, I'm just curious. But exactly what "form errors" are there in her turn or sheep jump? Like really I see nothing. I wouldn't necessarily say she had form errors in her switch ring, but I could definitely see saying her head wasn't laid back enough... And considering her heels were together when she landed, just not her toes, I doubt the judges noticed or would have cared.
for the sheep jump, she should receive 0.1 deduction because her feet aren't as close to her head as they should be. she also swings her head up instead of back. and she scrunches her feet. the last two aren't technically form deductions but her technique is unpleasing. it is a 0.1 form deduction for the lack of arch. honestly, I wouldn't argue if it was downgraded here. nothing wrong with the L turn but she should be getting a 0.1 deduction on her side somi for the flexed feet. i really like nastia on beam (minus her damn busted wrists). she has a nice fluidity and ease. but the 9.8 e score was still too high. I mean, it makes sense given this was in the us and it was still an impressive routine with no wobbles and a stuck dismount.
Poor head release on the switch ring leap (would downgrade to D), slightly under horizontal on the L-turn, and a slow connection on the Onodi + wolf 1/1, but otherwise a very solid routine.
Only 0,2 in deductions? I believe her full turn, the wolf jump 1/1, Crossed legs and leg separation after landing were quite deductible. Were these deductions not present in the old COP?
i mean... the COP was super lenient back then. shawn’s beam would score like 9 in E back then, but nowadays wouldn’t even reach an 8. i think in this COP there would be at least 1 point in deductions for this routine tough, and that’s still considered super good
Ok. Not trying to be an expert. I absolutely love gymnastics because... it's just cool. but that flippy twist thing she did at 1:00 ... WHOA!!!! Almost didn't see it. FANTASTIC! And her moves are so fluid. (if that's the right term) just... awesome.
I'm not even gonna rewind because I'm sure that you are referring to a skill called the "Onodi". Yeah, the half-twist is so fluid that it looks almost impossible for her to begin backward yet finish facing forward. IMHO, no other gymnast (including Henrietta Onodi herself!) has ever performed the Onodi as well as Nastia executed the skill -- on a regular basis, no less. Amazing 😍
Well yea the scoring system changed a bit after the 2008 olympics, and it is now also. Maroney's 9.733 is the highest execution score for Women's gymnastics at the Olympics (under the new system) so it's the highest one from the beijing and london olympics. Idk what the highest one is at a nonolympic event, but I guess Nastia's would be up there, even though the Pacific Rim scores are a tiny bit inflated
After watching again definitely convinced the other tenth was for the wolf 1/1, the second half of the jump is nowhere near in proper position, but if it wasn't that I'm guessing her L-turn was considered to have a balance check or not held at a 90 degree angle enough. Foot definitely comes above the head in the switch ring, but she may not have pulled the head back enough which is the other possibility. All of those deductions would have been a .05 previously. Absolutely stunning though.
@leeny11 who knows...it's ridiculous. that routine was even better than the one she competed at the Olympics in the all-around. the ONLY deductions i really saw were the crossed feet on the dismount and the really small wabble when she did the front arial to arabesque
Her connections were super slow, head didn’t go right back for both sheep jump and ring leap. Cross legged on her dismount too. Other than that, very stable and solid routine.
Probably the best beam she's ever done. Scary good.
SweetnSourSoren Agreed! Once I read your comment, I knew she was gonna stick the landing :) Yeah, this is slightly better than what I previously thought was her best beam routine (Beijing EF).
Hey we got another Mary Lou
Absolutely insanely great, Nastia would have scored so many 10s had she competed in the 80s/90s
kamila Ford This. She would have dominated like maybe no other gymnast in history with the old scoring system.
So true.
she would have DOMINATED if she performed in the Soviet Union era. but i’m more than happy with the lovely gymnasts we had from that era

I recommend watching Sui Lu at chinese nationals! also terrific routine

Emma Stevens some of that is just false
@@emmsy9295 I wouldn't even credit that switch ring. God that was awful.
@@emmsy9295 okay, that's only 0.8 in deductions, where the top gymnasts lose at least 1.8 on the international stage. OBviously, her connections are questionable in the 2017-20 quad though.

probably the single best balance beam EVER performed in international competition.
I love the sound it made when she stuck the landing, so satisfying
And people still think she didn’t deserve to win the Olympic AA. She was absolutely ROCK SOLID throughout that whole year, peaking epically at Beijing. The queen of gymnastics!!
One of the best executed beam routines ever
Least wobbly beam routine I've ever seen...just amazingly steady and balanced.
It really strikes me how much Tim and Elfi adore Nastia. The way they talk about her has so much warmth.
lol Elfi was basically just grunting at everything and everyone else by this point
Most well performed balance beam ever done.
This is THE Single most perfect Beam routine I have ever laid my eyes on. It’s so satisfying, I could watch it over and over. Everything in this routine was text book.

I can watch this over and over and it just doesn’t get old! Like the male commentator said, “WOW!”.
I watch this like once a year I think it’s the most perfect routine I’ve ever seen aside from some perfect vaults
I always come back to this routine, too!
I'm so amazed that she got a 9.8 in execution! This is why nastia is the best gymnast ever!!
this never gets old
Her lines are so elegant, from her beautifully pointed toes to the gorgeous extension on her jumps. Always flawless.
what could you want more from a gymnast than such a strong and really nearly perfect routine. Nastia at her best!
love to watch it again and again even if it was so long ago.
OMG almost perfect 10 😨
this was the best beam routine of this quad and even at the olympics.
She reminds me so much of gymnasts from the 80s.
Just perfect. So effortless in her movement
Nastia is so amazing!! She truly deserved the AA title in 2008
Really good landing
Absolutely beautiful! Still one of the best beam routines ever!
this is pure perfection! It´s like text book!
The best beam routine of all time. Stunning. Should have been a 9.9 in execution at MINIMUM, the ONLY thing wrong here were the crossed feet on the dismount. Not a single bobble.
i can watch that dismount for 4365469883165 times and it always makes me speechless
She did well and I luv her skills especially the flick flack and backhandspring step out she is very flexible
omg, this was the best performance i've seen by her.
Wow 9.8 execution score?!?!?! perfection
PERFECT
wow,that was absolutly amazingg
LOVE her dismount!!
the only deductions I've found are the crossed legs on the dismount, and the full turn was a little wonky
Best I've ever seen Nastia on beam.
Her legs cross in the dismount, that's where they deducted I think. Absolutely amazing! Thanks to Nastia & her coaches.
The re-beginning to an amazing Olympic run after a year of pure pain and suffering. 🌹🏆🌹💖
I'd say .1 off for the switch ring bc her head wasn't thrown back enough and .1 for the crossed legs
.1 for the wolf 1/1 and .1 for the crossed legs. I think there should've been a .1 for the switch ring as well. Regardless, this was crazy good.
MC Hernandez i didn't think there was necessarily anything wrong with the wolf 1/1 maybe just a little slowly connected which should come out of the d score not execution. but there's no doubt about it, this was an amazing routine
Ryan Salamo She's not in a strict wolf position; her leg is below horizontal
Joshua Paik I feel like I'm watching a different wolf jump than you... her leg looks beyond horizontal to me.
Dennis G Her Bent Leg isn't. Exactness of position
So beautiful
Perfecta😍
there is nothing like watching her on the bar. simply fantastic.
Mega powerful and this was so Elegance😍👱💪👍and she is a Beautiful young Women!😊
Excellent performance congratulations 👌👌👌
the BEST routine shes ever done if she had competed that in the beam final in bejing she would have beaten Shawn...dont get me wrong im glad for Shawn i lover her...but this was amazing!!
PERFECT!
the best evaa!!!!!!!!! i saved it to my favorites lol :D
This routine by Nastia was insanely good and flawless
Beautiful gymnast
Perfection
she is flawless!
Beauty in motion.
9.8 execution!!?!? That's insane!
perfect!!!!
amazing!
What?! Why the hell did they not show the score!! I know they changed the system around this time but that should have been a PERFECT 10!!!
Her score was a 16.400 with an execution of 9.8
This was AMAZING. But still had too little deductions. Maravilhosa
perfect !!!!!
flawless.
stunning
her landing
@xxLOlliPOPLUVERxx Yeah they do deduct for crossed ankles. I watch this routine every few months or so...amazing set.
Simone at this years Pac Rims reminded me of this routine.
9.8 execution!
Beam queen.
Ela foi perfeita nesse dia.
IMPRESSIVE!!!
SO GOOD
Her flexibility is phenomenal.
I like her style on beam better than shawns. She is amazing
Ustin , she bents her leg because it was suppose to land straight into scale
crazy score
I watch this once a day to feel what it’s like to be a god
Amazing

Is that her hair whipping around that's making the sound on her dismount? That's so rad. x)
❤❤❤❤
What a landing.

A simple routine but was well done.
What was the deduction for?
Her connections were super slow, head didn’t go right back for both sheep jump and ring leap. Cross legged on her dismount too. Other than that, very stable and solid routine.
Correct me if I'm wrong.. wouldn't the judges take off 0.1 on her wolf jump full because her knees were not together?
