@@jamesrramey Such a remarkable and extraordinary song from my all time number one BLUES GUITARIST PLAYER FOREVER STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN Totally agree with your comment thank you.🤠
I dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
at 7:42....wth is Stevie doing? Holy shit. What a valuable clip...SRV stretches out a bit more than even typical. Awesome. And what a singer Strehli is...so much soul.
i dreamed about stevie last night, and he was hugging me for a long time , best dream i,ve had in year,s , i wake up so happy. it was so real.it,s almost like i can say i was with him for real. love you stevie, and i told him so.
Jimmie Lee's rhythm guitar is the unsung hero of this performance. It's him perfectly timing those minor chords that makes this so haunting. Fucking awesome!
Positively true! Chris H, you nailed it. All of you just now learning, old or young, be sure to get your rhythm chops , chords, double stops etc. down first. Also if I may say you probably don't see massive pedal boards here either. They have their place but learn without FX first otherwise "your" tone will be obscured and you won't be able to feel and hear what you really need to work on nor know where you're at as it relates to your overall playing feel, skill, technique and tone. Hiding behind pedals (unless you already know what you're doing and have your developed signature sound) is kind of like covering up a really good steak with excessive sauce, etc... I guess its OK if its a bad piece of meat to start but but otherwise, condiments sometimes obscure the real taste. learn to play so as to not serve up bad meat at your next gig or jam. In any event, that's the truth in my world lol!
Ok, I want the lights down low, surround sound in every corner turned way up and this picture projected on all four walls. Would LOVE to see the whole concert
What a precious gem, just discovered today! It seems SRV still has new material for this world. I’ve heard SRV live at Carnegie at least a 100 times and the funny thing is I always pictured Strehli as black. She is amazing! Great to see him on stage with Jimmy also. His brother said that he played guitar like he was breaking out of jail. I can see that here. What a timeless performance.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is remembering always in his mind Albert Kings teaching when he sit in with Albert..and Stevie gets involved with playing that guitar and feeling the words at the same time..r you with me? Stevie is a genius on the blue's and it's the beginning for him with Albert King and the other legends Stevie got to sit in with also..nothing shy about Stevie Ray Vaughan..RIP Stevie..you are remembered..
Stevie was a genius in everything he did. Damn, when he does slow blues, it just wants to make you cry and smile at the same cause it was just so damn beautiful. The music just channeled through him like no other! Thank God I saw him live...
Had to watch this video in big screen just to get an up close and personal look at the greatness of Stevie Ray and Jimmy. Seeing Kim Wilson playing that Chromatic harp....moving. And Angela and her blueslady vocals makes you feel her blues. Damn good stuff!
Will never be another that compares to this man playin a 6 sting ever. My gosh.....UNREAL! I do miss you Stevie!! What a voice Angela has, and the ole boy on harp dayummm. This ranks up in my top 8 blues performances ever....The first 7 involve SRV!
Angela is really telling a story here. Her facial expressions and the movement in her voice sounds so authentic. Same with SRV. Every accompaniment on this song is just too good. Happy I have the pleasure of listening to this performance
Blew my mind to hear that thick Dumble tone from Stevie, and Jimmie quickly rolling the volume knob to get the tremelo effect for the minor chords chords is genuis!
Stevie’s guitar tone here is superb! Basically a clean sound wrenched with soul from SRV’s fingers. The best I’ve heard from him and I’ve heard all his material.
The intro solo sounds SO MUCH like Peter Green from the late 60’s. Brilliant feel and phrasing. First time I have seen this and what a set of performers !!!!!
Peter Green inspired is correct. Great! Otis Rush is it foundation! During SRV's first solo he is hitting notes i ever heard before. Video is a true treasure.
I can't believe that the entire 1983 ACL performance remains unreleased and unaired...hell, I would be happy if they would at least air the complete original ACL '83 broadcast as it originally aired. Why on Earth don't they release this or broadcast it?!?!?!?!
Most flawless Blues ive ever heard in my life. Stevie was so Gifted in a way that i could die to have what he had...I miss the Man so much. he was a beautiful Person. R.I.P sTEVIE:(.......
Dang! That's some furious playing. I wouldn't have been surprised if Stevie's guitar didn't burst into flames. Angela Strehli is tugging on my heartstrings as usual too
omg , Robert cray big band sound , Albert king licks super charged, Clapton smooth , and Hendrix over tones . man srv is on this jam . vocals sound haunting jj yet familiar. thanks for posting , what a jam
Blues Royalty! All of them! Thankful, I still get to see Jimmie Lee a lot! Would love an evening watching Angela live! The Angela Strehli band was freaking amazing!
Kim's chromatic playing here is wonderful and tearjerking. Stevie's playing is both understated and strong. Angela was the perfect choice for this performance.
Holy carp, this is incredible! SRV and Jimmy are of course outstanding, and the singer, Angela Strehli, has some serious pipes, but what truly blew me away was Kim Wilson on the harp. WOW all around! Thanks for sharing this!
Best version of this song thank you so much for reuploading it love this song I wish youtube would just keep these songs and preformances up this is real music
Stevie is the greatest of all time. Sonamassa? It's nice everything he does to keep the blues alive, he's put together a hell of a blues band and he plays the shit out of that guitar, but Stevie was the real deal. I saw him 8 times, not nearly enough. It was an otherworldly experience. You knew you were in the presence of greatness, A force of nature, nobody made the blues come alive like Stevie.
ronnieguitar99 Albert King laid the groundwork for Stevie Ray, Albert was the template. If it weren't for Albert Stevie would be just another log in the river
ronnieguitar99 You are lucky to have seen him so many times. I was gyped. I was born in 90. My uncle (who got me hooked on Stevie) saw him 5 times, and said the same thing. He said that out of all the shows he's been to and people he had seen in his 60 plus years, SRV was the Best he had Ever seen. When he told me about Stevie he told me that this guy blows away any comprehension of category. He is just the best....period. Cool story. best regards to you
@@zeleniouszeleniou6766 Have you seen the Albert King and SRV jam session? oh he passes the torch to SRV willingly and knowing it was in the right hands. Aint no log if it knows and lives the roots.
That was the first time a song brought a tear to my eye. Not “a” tear, they’re pouring down my cheeks. I love Stevie so much but I’ve never heard anything like this. You know when you watch a movie like The Deer Hunter you remain in your seat unable to move for a few minutes after? I can’t move right now. I can’t thank you enough for posting this. Man there ain’t nothing like the blues ❤️
Living in Austin had the pleasure of seeing all this greats many many times,So much so guess I took it for granted, that all came crashing down with Srvs death, the music scene there took a major hit, was gloom and sorrow. Happy BDay Srv RIP
@CoryWellsIsHeaven I couldn't agree with you more. I dream about Stevie all the time, like he's still here. Which, of course for many of us, he is. Thanks for sharing. With Stevie's cryin' guitar, and Angela's sexy voice - woohoo dreams are gonna be good tonight!!!! ha!
Love Angela's voice... also kind of rare to see/hear Kim Wilson on chromatic harp. Can't be more than a dozen alive on the planet that can play like Kim W.
I love me some Kim Wilson on his Chromatic Harp! The first applause was after his first harp solo. The whole song is understated, with great leads. The caliber of talent is very good!
This is great stuff. Angela Strehli is superb. Another terrific blues number that has mostly gone unnoticed is "As The Years Go Passing By" sung by Al Kooper.
Afknmazzing!!>>> you can take the Eric Clapton's , Robert Johnson's & Buddy Guys all day long , but i will take Stevie!!! r i.p >> Loved & missed like crazy!!!
Always LOVE to listen to Angela! That's Fran Christina drums, Tommy Shannon bass. That must have been a couple of years before I first saw the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Double Trouble perform in Houston (at Rockefellers and Fitzgeralds)

What a treat. Didn't know this recording existed.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is feeling every effect of this song on that guitar..the guitar and Stevie are ONE.
He called that guitar "his wife".

YES!! All of you budding guitarists out there - learn rhythm before you learn lead. Watch this, listen and pay attention!!
So true. It's the heart of the feel. You can't teach it, you must live the style to play it.
