Seeing Stevie play live was akin to a religious experience at a tent revival on a hot Saturday night somewhere down south. Stevie was the preacher or the vessel if you will that scripture flowed through, thus allowing his guitar to speak in tongues.
"And the guy that's down there on the ground and needs some help, you don't walk up and kick him. If you're gonna do that you better wear his shoes for a while. Cause you know what? Trade places with him and he'll pick you up. It's the truth" -Stevie Ray Vaughan
Stevie wrote this beautiful piece after the loss of a friend - Stevie Ray Vaughan was a huge talent but more than that he was an incredible human being..........
Amen. I listened to one of his sobriety speeches at an AA meeting (It was on RUclips) - towards the end of his life he became a deeply spiritual person who loved God - and his fellow man, as heard towards the end of this song. ...I wish I could have known him personally. He's right - what we do in love is what really matters.
mydogspet Thank you for those lovely words about Stevie - you are right - I always felt Stevie was a very special soul - he went through so much in his short life but I think when you suffer it makes you look at life very differently and makes you more compassionate to others who may be going through tough times- you realise what is important in life and that is to love - miss him and his music so much - bless you ~ Lorraine :))
Lorraine Ashby, you are so right. There is a depth to those who have suffered and come through. They have more empathy and sympathy for the hurting. ...I love seeing compassion in action, which is why I love this video and hearing him speak towards the end.
How the hell can anyone thumbs down this song!!!! These might be the people who need to hear his words more than anyone. Bless you SRV. ..I'M WITH YOU !!!!!!!!!!
Hands down the best ever, there really hasn't been anyone take it any further then this man. He single handedly revived the blues because at the time SRV stepped into the picture the blues was all but dead. Man what mighty big if not impossible shoes to try and fill and just think it's been over 30 years since we lost him and his playing style, passion and love for the music has yet to have anyone even come close to matching . Now that's what I call legendary , you know I believe some things God only allowed there to be only one and this lady's and gentleman is one of those. I remember when I first heard SRV I was blown away because I thought I had heard about all there was as of music, but man could SRV hypnotize you with his playing style that was like watching water flow. When he took the stage anyone who played with him had to take the back seat because this man was gonna steal the show and have you know he played with all the great blues players from Albert & B.B King, Clapton and so many others and no one could come close to what he could do. A quote from Clapton was that Stevie never seamed to get lost he would just take it to another level. A true master of his art. Thank you Stevie for blessing the world with the best heartfelt blues music this world will ever know.
"You better pass around as much love as you can in your lifetime, that's all we really have to give or accept." SRV gave us so much to love in this lifetime. "It's the truth!"
Isn't that something.... what he said.... "its the truth" .... it brings tears to my eyes.... because it is the truth..... I like it when Stars ... are just down home... and .... remember.... for they went through the .... hard times I would say ...to go and have been hungry.... wondering where they are going ...wondering they are going to lay there head to rest.... to get where they got to.... He remembered and acknowledged... I was so saddened to hear of when he died.... I was just getting in to his music....you were taken from us way too soon... you still had a lot of music to play and words to convey... your wonderful and amazing guitar playing skills will always be remembered....your memory lives on in the millions of people that you conveyed your music to ....RIP my brother. RIP Stevie Ray Vaughn
When Stevie stops playing his guitar and starts speaking at 5:27 he gives one of the absolute best sermons I have ever heard! The Message of Christ delivered succinctly, clearly, and with love. I miss SRV's contributions to our larger community.
@@jamesdean8022 Are you kidding? Have you read what Jesus of Nazareth said? Read The Sermon on the Mount, the story of the Good Samaritan, or anything else from Jesus of Nazareth and get back to me.
@@malamuterescueandrehabilit400 no, didnt hear him mention Jesus once. Ghandi, MLK, All kind of people have said these things. Again, timestamp me where he mentions Jesus.
@@jamesdean8022 "After graduating from Crozer Theological Seminary in 1951, Martin Luther King pursued his doctoral studies in systematic theology at Boston University's graduate school.". Martin Luther King, Jr. was an American Baptist minister, so I am going to make a huge leap that, as a Baptist Minister, his message drew inspiration directly from the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Stevie Ray Vaughan was also a Baptist, so again I am going to make a huge leap.......... I hope you caught my sarcasm with the words "huge leap". Had you read Jesus of Nazareth I'm sure you'd hear His Message in the words of BOTH MLK Jr, and many of SRV's lyrics. Clear as a bell starting at 5:27 Have a good weekend.........
Pure, intensive smoldering from start to finish. His guitar play was the only thing on earth that could perhaps overshadow his amazing voice. We will never again see his equal. RIP SRV. We were blessed for the time God let you be here!
"Life Without You" was a song Stevie wrote after the untimely death of his great friend and mentor Charley Wirz. the song shows his love for Charley and how much he truly missed him. The White Stratocaster Vaughan played that was fitted with Danelectro Lipstick Tube Pickups was made by Wirz with the help of Stevie's Guitar Tech Rene Martinez.
Stevie loved Texas so much, he gigged literally every small town. I'm happy as a mfer that I got to see him pre-youth thanks to this fact. The vibes in the performances are real is all I can say. They sound the same. They sound a little bit different. We all have the same story, but he had his story; basic modality of musical communication.
+Tim Hoover This has made both my girlfriend and I cry. makes her think of her Grandma. she's been gone a year now. Makes me think of my grandma and Grandpa on my dad's family! RIP
Twenty five years listening to this song and everytime I hear it, I see my best friend who passed away R.I.P. Bull. We loved to listen to Stevie together. His music was our music and now so much more, a very special place in my heart Life Without You...
I'm still so heart broken over Stevie. This song is one of my very favorites. It took a long time until I could listen without breaking down. Hes such an extraordinary entertainer with angel personality. I just hate the way he had to get to heaven. Play on Stevie ,your fans are still here and will never forget you. Love you till the end of time!
@@jfa689 It's true that the great ones are only here for a short time and then they're taken away. Life by the drop is also one that is him. Keep playing the blues!!
Damn, you see how many times he makes adjustments to his guitar? All during a solo? 3:18. Each time getting subtle differences in the sound. He does this like 10 different times, all the while not missing a single note. It was probably just like riding a bike through the park for him. Extraordinary guitarist by far.
Well hello baby, Tell me, How have you been? We all have missed you, And the way you grin The day is necessary, Every now and then For souls to move on, Given life back again Fly on, Fly on, Fly on my friend Go on, Go on and live again, Love again Cause day after day, Night after night Sittin' here singin', every, every minute As the years go passin' by, by, by, by A long look in the mirror, We come face to face Wishin' our love we took for granted A love we had yesterday, Cause Life Without You All the love, you've passed our way Angels have waited, for so long Now they have their way Take your place....
It's not sitting here singing, it's second guessing every minute. If you Google the lyrics, it says "sitting here singing" but never once have I head Stevie say that. He says "second guessing"
Lord have Mercy! Supreme guitarist with a perfect blues voice. Can you imagine what he would be playing now if he was still with us? Such a loss...I've played guitar for 32 years and my jaw still drops....Never a missed note....
I saw Stevie at the wiltern. for the first time in 82 or 83 he blew us away. Saw him 3 more times. Wish everyone had the chance also.. God bless you Stevie. You saved my life.
None of his live performances are the same, and they are all absolutely fucking incredible.. he is one of the few musicians who truly played from the soul. I was born after the guy died and I still feel an emotional connection to him.. Coming off of drugs and playing even better, what an inspiration. RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan
I played this at my husbands funeral. We were married for 22 yrs. but I knew him for most of our lives. Our motto was All You Need is Love. Thank you SRV for bringing my thoughts and soul back from the abyss. Maybe you ran into my hubby in the there after. Again thanks you most beautiful of human beings.
Words cannot express how beautiful this song is, one of the best , still bringing me to tears all these many years later as my wife died 95 and songs like this remind me we all have losses and life is still wonderful, rest in peace SRV
This man was filled with the Holy Ghost. Honestly believe God took him so he could play in heaven. The best guitar player that ever lived. A man after God's own heart. He inspired so many people.
Stevie Ray Vaughan...my name is Stevie Ray Hendrick...and i just wanna take this time to say thank you so so much for being you and sharing your gift with us. You are and always will be my idle. I love you much and I will always idolize you. Rest in Piece forever my brother
The late, great Stevie Ray in a reflective mood; we will not see his like again. What a great post Duke, just don't know wtf is wrong with the 180 peeps who gave this beautiful song the thumbs down.
+universe54 I don't even know how anybody at all could give this a thumbs down. 188 people???? What is wrong with people? This song, as you see by all the above comments, is SO very beautiful, so perfect for those of us that lost precious family and friends. The song itself is so moving that I never can listen to it without the tears dripping down my face. But like I said, I DO believe we will all be re united with those that we have loved and lost. Thank God for SRV.
+Debbie G I totally agree with your sentiments. I can't listen to this sone sometimes without becoming a blubbering wreck. Great to see you appreciate good music x
I don’t think there was anybody that knew a guitar like Stevie, he knew every nook and cranny of a guitar. Never felt so much passion watching someone play. Just doesn’t get any better than srv.
My brother Greg died just 3 months before Stevie. He lived in Austin when SRV was just starting in the clubs. He made sure I got to see him 5 times live, in some amazing venues...dancing in the dirt drinking Pina coladas and fried chicken&potato salad I made earlier that day. My hilarious brother screaming "Look at Little Sister" along with SRV live. I always contend when he got to Heaven he started raising Cain for some live rock. He can take the blame. There's one heck of a concert up there!
Mom looooved her some Stevie Ray. Her passing was so sudden. This was the first song to come on the Stevie Pandora station. No other song seemed to fit the bill. It was played during her services and Lenny at the end to walk out. " The angles have waited for so long... Now they have their way.. Take your place.." So very true. The prettiest flowers are always picked first.
He lives in my heart along with Elvis and a few others..I saw Stevie and to watch him and his soul flow through that guitar ..He makes me cry and feel some real feels in the heart. Gone but never forgotten..3
The library of congress needs to have this song in its archives and I'm not being sarcastic. It's WAY TOO POWERFUL a recording of a GREAT SRV SONG to loose in the dust. CHILLS.

Wow. This made me cry...not that you found him or that he's gone, although both very sad, it was the way you said that last part about them jamming up in Heaven. I can hear your smile in it. The resilience of our spirit is amazing. God bless you and your brother and Stevie. I hope I get the chance to see that show, too. Thanks for posting.
I guess he knew this song was about him. It seems it was written about him. I know hes still playing that guitar. I hear him every day. Miss you stevie . I will forever be your fan. Love always
@@DaddyyCrab they say music soothes the savage beast, music soothes the soul, what would life be without it? SRV was definitely put here to do that. And all of the songs going thru my head right now ,one still stands out .....life by the drop. Glad to know a fan!
5:29 " ya know there's a lot of Love that goes on but we don't think about it until we need it more than ever, cause it's gone... It's up to us to carry on a few new rules. like if we go on through our lives taking from each other,,, You can bet your life we are gonna give it all up in the end...But if you go through your life giving all the time, all you have,, You already had it , you gave it, you never had a problem. And the guy that's there on the ground and needs some help,,, You don't walk up and kick Him. if your gonna do that, You better wear his shoes for a while ... cause you know what, trade places with him he'll pick you up. It's the truth, You better pass around as much Love as you can in your lifetime. that's all we really have to give or accept....Are You with Me. -' Stevie Ray Vaughan
Words we should all be living by IMHO! God gave us 10 commandments. Jesus only gave us two. "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." And, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Just think what a wonderful world we would be living in if everyone lived by just those two commandments, JMHO.
This song just gets me every time.....and how he breaks into the guitar solo after the speech is like no other, just unreal how it sounds like it feels
Stevie your music still impacts people's lives. Best guitar player. This song touches my soul. God I wish I was the age I am now when you were alive to see you in person.
I was at his final performance at Alpine Valley, what a tragic loss but his life is a beautiful story. He beat his demon's and shared that with the world. God bless you SRV, I miss you.
This song has been with me almost my whole life. Lost my mom to cancer at 15, 13 years later on the eve of her 13th year passed, my dad didn't want to see another day and decided to take his own life. It was devastating. Destroyed my siblings and I. Life goes on and I had to continue. My sister however was utterly destroyed. She couldn't handle the life and situation with our father. Anyway, 2 years after dad's passing my sister overdosed in a cheap motel room and after being in a coma for about a week, passed. It's my brother and I. My wife and my daughter. They're my world. Every now and then though, I have to have a timeout. This song just opens the "emotional gate", and I feel a little better. I don't know... Thank you Stevie.
No other guitarist gets to my heart and soul like SRV does. I won't even argue he is the best, there are certainly many others with better technicality, more innovation or crisper execution. Halen, Montgomery, Hendrix, Smith, Tárrega can all make justifiable claims in their own right but in the matters of one owns heart nothing else matters except the feeling the moves you the most. What a performance by Stevie!
This guy went home way too early. He is sorely missed here, but as many other said before me, he is now among the other gods of music (Hendrix, Harrison, BB King, Lennon, Morrisson, Freddie and many many others) having the best time non stop.
There isn't a stereo in existence that can play this loud enough...

Best quote by him
Dodie Stark totally
totally
Dodie Stark that is so true
I will always have room for SRV
When Stevie stops playing his guitar and starts speaking at 5:27 he gives one of the absolute best sermons I have ever heard!
The Message of Christ delivered succinctly, clearly, and with love.
I miss SRV's contributions to our larger community.
Its The Truth 🙏
Where does he mention Jesus?
Clear as a bell starting at 5:27
Have a good weekend.........
Pure, intensive smoldering from start to finish. His guitar play was the only thing on earth that could perhaps overshadow his amazing voice. We will never again see his equal. RIP SRV. We were blessed for the time God let you be here!
yes...the always overlooked voice ....it is as amazing as his guitar ....and nobody sounds even close to his vocal tone
absolutely love that little speech he gave into that solo
What a man
"Life Without You" was a song Stevie wrote after the untimely death of his great friend and mentor Charley Wirz. the song shows his love for Charley and how much he truly missed him. The White Stratocaster Vaughan played that was fitted with Danelectro Lipstick Tube Pickups was made by Wirz with the help of Stevie's Guitar Tech Rene Martinez.
Don Miller "Life without you" 🎸WAS ALSO WRITTEN FOR 😇GIRL IN MIND. HELLO🎼 BABY HOW HAVE YOU😍 BEEN!!
Rene is Stevie's main Guitar tech, RIP SRV
Not true
Don Miller Thank you
Correct, RIP Stevie and Charley
No words. Tears streaming down. Miss you Stevie. Still in our hearts and souls.
I can't wait for the day I get to go to rock n roll Heaven so I can jam with him I'm not getting there QUICK ENOUGH
One of the most soulful emotional guitar solos.
Fuck yeah TEXAS HAS THE BEST
Absolutely incredible. He’s a fucking legend and a true inspiration
Still listening 28 yrs after you’re gone. RIP SRV.
Me too! I start my day with a little Stevie Ray
Mee three
Stevie loved Texas so much, he gigged literally every small town. I'm happy as a mfer that I got to see him pre-youth thanks to this fact. The vibes in the performances are real is all I can say. They sound the same. They sound a little bit different. We all have the same story, but he had his story; basic modality of musical communication.
This will always be the best version of this song 💛
I see this in such a different lite. I will always miss u my [smiles] srv thanks this came at me so different 2 day.❤
Yep! Much love to you from beautiful Southern California!!
Sim! É a que eu gosto mais! Absoluta e genial! 💖🙏✨
that solo gives me chills, everytime
there's a 13 minute version on the remastered in step CD that near makes me cry every time.
I dedicated this to my girlfriends grandma, it was her birthday celebration on the 5th and also dedicated this to my grandpa RIP Grandpa
+Tim Hoover This has made both my girlfriend and I cry. makes her think of her Grandma. she's been gone a year now. Makes me think of my grandma and Grandpa on my dad's family! RIP
Man,, The sounds a Heck of alike Prince's "Purple Rain Solo"..
ziggy72170 Both this song/solo as like Purple Rain song/solo has that gospel build up that gives you goosebumps 🙏
I was in tenth grade when he passed
I'm going to be 57
I still jam to his music
Another before his time that could put it into music 9:00
@@jfa689 It's true that the great ones are only here for a short time and then they're taken away. Life by the drop is also one that is him. Keep playing the blues!!
Damn, you see how many times he makes adjustments to his guitar? All during a solo? 3:18. Each time getting subtle differences in the sound. He does this like 10 different times, all the while not missing a single note. It was probably just like riding a bike through the park for him. Extraordinary guitarist by far.
Well hello baby, Tell me, How have you been?
We all have missed you, And the way you grin
The day is necessary, Every now and then
For souls to move on, Given life back again
Fly on, Fly on, Fly on my friend
Go on, Go on and live again, Love again
Cause day after day, Night after night
Sittin' here singin', every, every minute
As the years go passin' by, by, by, by
A long look in the mirror, We come face to face
Wishin' our love we took for granted
A love we had yesterday,
Cause Life Without You
All the love, you've passed our way
Angels have waited, for so long
Now they have their way
Take your place....
It's not sitting here singing, it's second guessing every minute. If you Google the lyrics, it says "sitting here singing" but never once have I head Stevie say that. He says "second guessing"
You can actually see the music flow through his body. Magical.
That solo rips my heart out every time
Agreed ❤️❤️❤️
The most beautiful lyrics ever written for the loss of a loved one: Angels have waited for so long, now they have their way. Take your place...
when I feel im soul-less I came here and got back my soul again . This performance is increidble.
Lord have Mercy! Supreme guitarist with a perfect blues voice. Can you imagine what he would be playing now if he was still with us? Such a loss...I've played guitar for 32 years and my jaw still drops....Never a missed note....
27 years ago we lost a great story teller.... 8/27/90 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. The music that could have been.
SRV rules. He breathes total life in all his music.
We will never hear anything new from you again Mr. SRV but you left us so many greats to enjoy, RIP You Sir will always be missed by millions...
Srv wasn’t a human, he was a fender strait that looked like a man!!! Thank you for all you gave , to this world, srv. An incredible man/ guitar !!
💜
Words cannot express how beautiful this song is, one of the best , still bringing me to tears all these many years later as my wife died 95 and songs like this remind me we all have losses and life is still wonderful, rest in peace SRV
Unbelievable talent! 30 years gone :(
Continue to rest easy ❤
5:28 love this speech, never forgot it. God bless.
The most perfect song, ever.
If you don't know, you don't know what YOU don't know.
If you do,
We understand each other perfectly.
This man was filled with the Holy Ghost. Honestly believe God took him so he could play in heaven. The best guitar player that ever lived. A man after God's own heart. He inspired so many people.
I keep coming back for more❣️RIP Stevie❣️🎄🎁✝️
His live performances are so much better than the studio recordings.
For my husband, the love of my life, who died on Valentine's day 2016.
Omg! So sorry for your loss!
LOL
Bad to hear this...... all i can wish you happiness from here !
So sorry , I have to dead children I know some pain. God bless you, stevie saved me
Stevie Ray Vaughan...my name is Stevie Ray Hendrick...and i just wanna take this time to say thank you so so much for being you and sharing your gift with us. You are and always will be my idle. I love you much and I will always idolize you. Rest in Piece forever my brother
Prince & SRV together just once would've have been perfection.
30 years gone by

Effortless blues and Control
Being and Performance
Stunning Stevie ❗
Beiber fans I'm sure. You just know they have the greatest taste in music.
+Debbie G and our pets too.
+Mark Titus lmao
Stevie Ray Vaughan, one of the biggest soul who ever walked this planet
If he never played a guitar he would still be remembered as a great person.
Unfortunately the world wouldn’t have known him otherwise
Today is January 23rd, 2020 and I still miss this man. Thankfully, I got to see him one time in concert before he passed. Peace brother.
Born too soon, on my part. 1997, missed out on my favorite musician. Still love him like he’s still touring 👏🏼
Speaks directly to the soul.
I don’t think there was anybody that knew a guitar like Stevie, he knew every nook and cranny of a guitar. Never felt so much passion watching someone play. Just doesn’t get any better than srv.
If i had one wish I'd wish he didn't die so he could continue to bless our souls
From 1972-1977, I saw him countless times in Austin Clubs before Double Trouble
☮️😊
Mom looooved her some Stevie Ray. Her passing was so sudden. This was the first song to come on the Stevie Pandora station. No other song seemed to fit the bill. It was played during her services and Lenny at the end to walk out.
" The angles have waited for so long... Now they have their way.. Take your place.." So very true. The prettiest flowers are always picked first.
...DAMN TEARS IN MY EYES BLURRING MY VISION!
CHILLS.
lost my older brother to suicide in 2014, tough loss considering I found him that way. but in the house he had Stevie playing live at montreux on loop. this song brings back good memories...rip Ryan and stevie, maybe when I get to the other side I can see you two. jam on stevie
trayse_jordan I hope you're doing good.
Keep hangin on brother, we'll all be together later on, god bless you.
Right on
I lost my older brother years ago to suicide as well! He was the best....always had a smile or made me smile! :)
This gives me chills and make me cry and miss Stevie I saw him right before he died when I was nine years old
I guess he knew this song was about him. It seems it was written about him. I know hes still playing that guitar. I hear him every day. Miss you stevie . I will forever be your fan. Love always
I remember the SRV rallies in Dallas, seeing Cutter, the bands and friends. I think I know who you are. The artist?
@@DaddyyCrab they say music soothes the savage beast, music soothes the soul, what would life be without it? SRV was definitely put here to do that. Hes gone physically, but his spirit and his soul will never die. His fans will make sure that his music will remain. And all of the songs going thru my head right now ,one still stands out .....life by the drop. Glad to know a fan!
Wanna shed a tear? I’m from Austin Texas, if this doesn’t make you wanna love.. I don’t know what will......
It's the truth,
You better pass around as much Love as you can in your lifetime. that's all we really have to give or accept....Are You with Me.

Phillip Uzzo amen 😐
Lost my Dad today. May angels guide your path on your journey to the next life. Rest in peace and travel in joy.
This song just gets me every time.....and how he breaks into the guitar solo after the speech is like no other, just unreal how it sounds like it feels
I wasn't even born when he died, but I miss him so much somehow. May SRV always be close to God Jesus Christ.
its amazing how fluid his licks were.
We fell in love to this song. We loved him so!
God bless you SRV, I miss you.
this song just hits me so hard. the first time i heard it it made me cry. its goes to show you dont know what youve got till its gone
Best to ever touch the strings gotta lotta love for stevie ❤ gone but never forgotten
The angels have waited for so long....
Now they have their way
Take your place....
My favorite of Stevie...♡
Losing my husband 5-8-14....this song hits home....
Lost my mom this past Dec. this song reminds me of her....... Love you mom..... Till i see you again...........
I can't listen to this song and not cry. I miss SRV!
Jesus man that’s awful
Always in tears listening to this song RIP Stevie Ray.....!!!!
Stevie was seriously like the Jesus of the music world.
Amen!
What a gorgeous soul ☀️
Words can't describe his playing and his persona. Truly an excellent man and inspiration.
SENSATIONAL entertainer..SENSATIONAL guitar player..SENSATIONAL singer..A Guitar legend..r you with me
All we are left with are beautiful memories....
the most soulful live performance ever
long live the blues
This amount of talent is truely amazing and an honour to watch.
This guy went home way too early. He is sorely missed here, but as many other said before me, he is now among the other gods of music (Hendrix, Harrison, BB King, Lennon, Morrisson, Freddie and many many others) having the best time non stop.
