you know what i hate in this world? is that its scarce to recognize this man as a role model. people say, "Well he was a drug abuser so hes not good role model." BULLSHIT!This man is the perfect example of a role model.A role model shouldnt be considered as someone who is perfect, but someone who is flawed but then counteracts those imperfections by doing something about them.Yes he was a drug user, but he was able to break the addiction which is why hes the perfect role model for anybody

He is a role model because he was able to go to the depths of hell and come back clean and sober. Watching someone rise through that type of adversity shows that anyone can get sober….
That’s what a role model and inspiration.
He went to manny AA meetings talked to countless people about addiction.

Willie Nelson used to have the Austin Opery House. There was Music Lane, where musicians would rent space. I watched Stevie practice for years. I was backstage at the Armadillo World Headquarters when Stevie got Tommy Shannon to quit playing with Johnny Winter to play with him. Starting Double Trouble. Stevie was my friend

There will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughan. He can not be copied...ever. SRV, is beloved by so many of us. Hopefully those who haven't had the privilege of discovering the"Blues" just yet, will be turned on to it. It's a wonderful genre. SRV revived the Blue's, and made it come back to life. All in all, he put his own stamp on it. His own interpretation of it. A sort of, Blue's Rockin Jazz. Watching him play live is such a gift. 🌟 Many "Bluesmen" came before Stevie, and he had such an appreciation for them. If I could speak to Stevie today, I would thank him for having such a humble spirit. His music lives on.

About SRV. Saw him early in his career, about 200 showed up in a place that would seat 2000. After a couple of songs, he looked out at us, sat on the edge of the stage, and said, "There aren't many of us, but there's enough." He then sat there for the next 20 minutes and blew the top of my head off. Needless to say, will forever be a fan. Amazing talent - certainly would gave stayed a alternative to the sad current pop strain.

He knew the one true lesson about live music. What the audience feels and how the performer feels back. I remember playing to 4 people. .... They drove 80 miles in bad weather to hear us.... Stevie obviously knew that it ain't the number of people... it's their love of the music done with your personal signature on it. Great song - great bass great drum kick and pretty fair guitar dood.

Kenny has a singer most times. He feels it in his guitar, that's clear. But someone else does the vocals. Some tracks are beautiful and strong. (Blue on Black....) SRV was a single conduit; the guitar AND the vocal. It's a tidal wave of expression that sweeps you up and carry you along. Sitll, some people aren't so hot on him. It's OK though, isn't it?

SRV himself said that about Hendrix. Many feel as you do. An Interesting survey from Sept 29,2018 agrees with Stevie, putting Jimi first, followed by
Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan at number 6. Actually, I would love to hear Hendrix's take on Stevie, wouldn't you? I also love players like Satch. Surfin' With the Alien rocked a whole nuther way.

He was totally humble about who he was and laid a lot of what he could do on a foundation of the Blues giants, Hendrix and all the players that make Blues a powerful fraternity. Some people aren't crazy about the Blues. But it's OK. We're fine.

I can't believe how many more of your albums are released For instance, Your "Mary had a little lamb" was released after you died & I was born.
    Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I even know one more thing, How much you enjoyed playing with Tommy & Chris before you & Double Trouble added Reese.
But then again I even know how much you enjoyed playing for the people that attended your shows, SRV, There's one person I know that saw you & Double Trouble In concert when he was 18. & that was my dad!
    RIP Stevie.

Been 15 years of drinking meeting new freinds which turns into stupid friends but the new fun is getting old also tring to stay idle and I'M ONLY 36. Long story short is do what you love and take much as pride along with it as its willing to let you and maybe find a new true friend.

Doesn't matter what Stevie would say because we know how generous and humble he was.
Stevie stated that Jimmy Vaughan was better than him. EVERYONE knows the real truth there.
If you think Hendrix was better that's fine but, your comment holds no relevence in reality.
Jimi was a true original gifted in creativity. SRV was gifted as an exceptional player with incredible tone and improvisational skills clearly surpassing most everyone that I can think of including Hendrix.
