I lost my boyfriend of 6 years a few months ago- it's crazy how even if you didn't know the lyrics to this song, the guitar alone still fits the title. Straight up perfection.
To anyone watching or in the comments grieving a loved one, I'm sending love

This was the night Stevie Ray Vaughan officially took the gloves off and became the GOAT. From the seamless guitar switch, to the MID-NOTE plug change, to the soul of the singing.
Then, THAT SOLO. Almost three straight minutes of shredding. Live feedback control with manual amp changes WHILE STILL PLAYING. The soul he pulls from Charlie is UNBELIEVABLE. Then the behind-the-back spectacle, into the break. But the true testament: after the break, he restarts for the rest of the solo FROM BEHIND THE BACK.
Then he plays with his teeth, loses a tooth on stage, and keeps going.
This is not a blues show. This is a religious experience. This is a man ascending to the top guitar providence.

@@Craigkimmel I was not there, and never said I was. I was born in 2001, eleven years after he died outside of Alpine Valley. But I have seen this recorded performance dozens of times. I have analyzed the majority of SRV's discography, including his sessions with Dick Dale and Albert King. And this still stands eternal as one of the best performances of his career.

Losing someone who makes that choice to move on hurts as much as someone who passes on. My ex wire told me she no longer wanted to be with me. We met at 15 years old and am in my mid 50s now. I don't wish her any ill will but a little part of me wishes she would come back to me. Not sure how to measure pain but knowing she could come back but chooses not to still hurts. I even remarried and that was a disaster. Very sorry about your loss.

Greatest guitarist ever IMO. People are so blown away by his soulful guitar expertise, that his vocal talent is mostly overlooked. Stevie had a pitch-perfect voice, melodic and tender when appropriate, or husky bass-laden throat growl when appropriate. He was, IMO, musical perfection. This song really showcases his vocal talent.

For souls to move on, Given life back again
Fly on, Fly on, Fly on my friend
Go on, Go on and live again, Love again
Cause day after day, Night after night
Sittin' here singin', every, every minute
As the years go passin' by
A long look in the mirror, We come face to face
Wishin' our love we took for granted
    A love we had yesterday,
    Life Without You
All the love, you've passed our way
Angels have waited, for so long
    Now they have their way
    Take your place....
    Talk at 6 min
I hope we've all learned something lately about a few things
There's no longer time for any of us to do things
Like what happened to a few friends of mine
In a part of the Country.. Down South.
Anywhere in the World where people push people
down instead of pick them up
We are all here to help each other
Love each other. And be brothers and sisters
We got one chance in this life
to get out of here weather we have to do it
over and over or not. And that is to learn
To love everybody else and treat them just like
ourselves or forget it. Let's all try to learn a few
things. Pick each other up when we are down.
And not ever push people down because we are up
    You with me? All right...

This song makes me cry everytime I hear it. Such beautiful deep emotional blues, lyrics written from the heart of a guitar legend to his hero and close friend, Charley Wirz,( owner of Charleys guitar shop-Dallas) How incredible that Stevie lifts his audience calling on his brothers and sisters to stop drugs & drinking and to help each other. Thank you kind genius Stevie for spreading love the way you knew how. So amazing he was so down to earth.
He cared enough to say what he felt in his heart. I will love him forever for just using his reach to help others.I.m grateful SRV graced humanity with his extraordinary talents.Stevie was underrated for sure., but has an eternal legacy. Many Thanks to God in heaven for SRV talents ,gift of wonderful lyrics (Lenny, Riviera Paradise&his verson of Little Wing) and for his wonderful kindness he gave to the world in such desperate need of compassion and brotherhood
    Stevie Ray Vaughan Lyrics
    "Life Without You"
Well hello baby, Tell me, How have you been?
We all have missed you, And the way you grin
The day is necessary, Every now and then
For souls to move on, Given life back again
Fly on, Fly on, Fly on my friend
Go on, Go on and live again, Love again
Cause day after day, Night after night
Sittin' here singin', every, every minute
As the years go passin' by, by, by, by
A long look in the mirror, We come face to face
Wishin' our love we took for granted
A love we had yesterday, Cause Life Without You
All the love, you've passed our way
Angels have waited, for so long

I was there one night with some band mates and we watch this guy in a funky hat long hair, and a Keyboard, Had no Idea who he was! It was THIS GUY! Probably 5 years earlier, before he really, really took off. I can still remember, we were all metal heads, and yet this band was so good at the blues it just caught us off guard! He was the same way as the friend you talk about he would give you the shirt off his back and then go to the store with you and buy a few more and I saw him do many wonderful things while I got to know him and he was like that with everyone I think he was just a wonderful person with compassion and humility and I saw him do a benefit concert for a child who had cancer and his parents were as poor as they come and he gave everything that concert made to those parents and I don't know what ever happened to that child but I know that Stevie was a great person and a great friend as well I think he taught me more about humility than anyone else I know and it wasn't on and off like a lot of people who do that he was like that twenty - four seven seven days a week on and on I will miss him more than people might know because of the type of person he was he did care about people who struggled in life and I think it was because of the path that it took for him to final become successful which I think he was still rising up and hadn't hit the ceiling yet but we will never see anyone like him again and I'm saying that as to the type of person he was the fact that he was the best blue's guitarist in the world was a bonus for us and I actually brought him to my house before I knew who he was but I found out later on that day when my brother came by to play guitars with us it was our usual jam session with our friends which we did several times a week when everyone could make it which sometimes was within a couple of hours notice which was always okay because it ment time to relax and forget about all of the hassles of life

Truly a Guitar God!! not mention how he can change guitars mid songs and tweak his pedal board mid solo and his amp without messing up then play an entire solo behind his back!! Long live SRV!! 🤘🏾🤘🏾
