      Yeah the guy doing this review has no historical knowledge of muscle cars, not even of recent years, any diehard follower of the muscle/pony car segment knows the Camaro has been copying the Mustang since it's inception. The Mustang came out in 1964, the Camaro 1967, the second-gen Camaro actually did it's own thing and didn't seem very influenced by the Mustang, but in 1979 when the Foxbody came out, a few years later, Camaro had the same look going, starting in 1982, when the Camaro took a hiatus through the 2000s, they came back again in 2010 after the Mustang had already started with the revival of muscle cars with all the old styling cues and designs, and it's been well documented that the 2016 Camaro looks way too similar to the 2015 Mustang.

    • @Dynoids
      @Dynoids 7 лет назад +4

      yeah these cars can definitely be made to preform the way a 5.0 does, however once you get to it, you can spend enough money to match and beat the stock or lightly modded 5.0 and match the price, but once the 5.0 takes on bigger mods especially supercharger it blows the eco out of the water, but it is more expensive. So this car definitely competes, just sadly not in noise and wow factor. And to answer Anthony i havent made the mistake either but i always do have to double check what button i am pressing, not the best toggles switches but they do what they need to.

    I just bought my Mustang ecoboost 2017 from carmax 4 weeks ago .
    This car is awesome...
    I just took my first Ross trip fro..vegas to Newport Beach California.
    Top off my tank with gas in vegas preamam ...
    On the highway in normal mod Crouse control 80
    I was gett 36.6mpg average.
    When I got to Barstow I hoped off with gas . I only had to add 4.9 gallon s to top off . From vegas to Barstow 157 miles .
    Got back on the highway. 80 mph .
    Again 36.6 mpg .
    When I Got into Newport Beach it too 5gal To top off thr gas tank
    Thus car runs great fun to drive and comfortable.
    I have t premium package.
    If anyone is looking a a mustang I highly recommend the ecoboost.

    I have one exactly like that, and gets 31-32 mpg's consistently on the highway at 70 mph, just as the EPA estimate states. Not disappointed at all, I average 23-25 in overall driving, again, very close to EPA estimates. Get's econobox mileage but looks way-better and has ooomph when you step on it. The sport mode is fun. Have had zero issues with mine.

    • @peterdragon9630
      @peterdragon9630 2 года назад

      @@moodz524 so far so good. Put an aftermarket free flowing exhaust on it that helped a bit. FORD offers a tune that doesn't void the warranty that raises the hp from 310 to about 350 and the torque from 340 to 380. It will stick together at that level. It pulls at least as hard as a small V8 and just as fast or faster than most of the old muscle cars. Doesn't consume the engine bay like the Coyote and cheaper on insurance. Mine is a Premium package with heated and cooled leather seats, love that, the paddle shifter, different transmission modes, and the handling. Drive train warranted for 60k miles so we'll see.

I recently took a day trip and, on a stretch of highway I knew to be mostly flat and straight, did a mileage test in 10 mile increments using the onboard reporting as you did. I enjoyed the video. About the only comment I'd make is with regards to the fuel economy. First, that car has the performance package which comes with a lower final drive ratio. That doesn't help. Second, of course you're going to have to stay out of boost if you want maximum fuel economy. There is no free lunch, if you use that turbo all the time, you're going to loose in the gas mileage race.
    I worked for Ford back in the early 80's. They had a turbo four in the Mustangs back then too and in those days, the turbo four was very close to the V8 in hp numbers. Anyway, we had one customer that we were never able to satisfy with regards to her fuel economy in her turbo four car. It seems that her "salesman" convinced her that she could have V8 performance AND four cylinder fuel economy. She was not happy when we told her she could have V8 performance OR four cylinder fuel economy, not both at the same time. There is no free lunch!

    • @steverhodes7036
      @steverhodes7036 7 лет назад +1

      Well, even a muscle car can return fuel economy that isn't totally awful but the driver does have make an effort to keep their foot out of the radiator. Easier said than done, I grant you, but it can be done.

    • @steverhodes7036
      @steverhodes7036 7 лет назад +2

      Oh, I wouldn't say that. Current Mustangs, Camaros, etc make more hp, get better fuel economy, ride/drive/handle way better than their 70s era counterparts. Muscle cars are alive and well in my opinion. I don't find the fact that they're a lot more civilized a bad thing at all. Of course, that's not necessarily true for everyone. To each their own! :-)

    • @steverhodes7036
      @steverhodes7036 7 лет назад

      +WarmSoftKitty
      So is body style your only criteria for judging what constitutes a "muscle" car? Check this one out:
      1970 Mustang Mach 1 (which most would call a muscle car, I think)
      i.wheelsage.org/pictures/mustang/mki/autowp.ru_mustang_mach_1_428_cj_9.jpg
      Compare that to the:
      2016 Mustang GT fastback
      motrolix.com/wp-content/gallery/2016-ford-mustang/2016-ford-mustang-gt-black-package-04.jpg
      Both are fastbacks, not coupes. I don't know about you, but the family resemblance looks pretty strong to me!
      I did a little research on the OEM specs of the 1970 Mach 1. Here's the link I used: www.themustangnews.com/reference_08/spec-1970.htm
      The largest engine they put in that car appears to be a 429 ci V8 producing a claimed 375 hp. That was the strongest engine available from the factory. The 2016 GT is a 302 ci V8 (107 ci's smaller than the Mach 1) yet it's rated at 435 hp, or a full 60 hp more than the 1970 Mach 1 even though the 2016 is sporting a smaller engine. So which car is pumping out more "muscle" here?
      Granted, there's been a LOT of evolution between the two cars through the years but to say there's "literally nothing" in common between the two is just wrong as far as I'm concerned. I mean no disrespect in saying that. This is just one of those things that you and I are going to disagree on! ;-)

    You need to be in more videos. I loved the way you did this. The ecoboost was going to be my first Mustang but could not afford it. I got a 2012 v6 and love the crap out of it. I still would by a ecco but right now I want a 15 GT. If I have to do what I did with the v6 and get the ecco first not going to complain. I want all the trims to be honest. after owning mine now almost a year it is not going anywhere and I am going to collect some how mark my words hahahahaha. For had really stped it game up with the Mustang 8,4,and 6 will kill a lot of things with just a few mods and a tune. Heck the v8 are stand alone monsters. Not the everything killer but for the money they will go.

    All of the critics I read concerning Mustang come from US drivers. In Europe the story is a little different. A mustang should come with a 5.0 engine. Sure, except that in Belgium f.i. there is a tax to put the vehicle into circulation and an annual car tax. The first tax is about 12.000 dollar and the annual tax is around 3000 dollar. The ecoboost engine has less CO2 emission and a less powerful engine, as such this car and engine is very much suited for the european market. And not to forget price of fuel, which in europe is also exuberant.
    For this reason and because Mustang is now generally available in Europe, I bought the ecoboost model. FYI : ecoboost Mustang premium model in Belgium comes at 45000 dollar.

    I like the comments on here. "Yeah a 2.3 ecoboost modded can hang with the v8 or even beat it, but once you put mods onto the v8 it will blow the eco out of the water" ..do you realize a 3-4k dollar bigger turbo kit on these LIGHTER cars put it up to 500 hp? And guess what, you STILL haven't matched the same price as you would spend on a v8. People really are just stupid and uneducated

    • @edgargrimaldo2970
      @edgargrimaldo2970 5 лет назад +3

      Bray Zap, Won’t all that power be detrimental to the engine if you push it to hard? I think to get it to 350+ hp is just enough for some more fun, and so you don’t risk the possibility of voiding your warranty or blowing up your engine!

    There is an upgrade package for about $1,400 that will put the car at 350 whp. It consists of a cold air intake, intercooler and exhaust. But I have read that there is another turbo, and head studs with a tune along with the $1,400 kit will put the car right at 400 whp. This is a bargain and the best bang for your buck. Without a doubt, the car with a few upgrades will run with the 5.0 because the 5.0 is losing 20% to the wheels as most cars do because of the crank. The 2019 is claiming 460 but that’s motor dyno and not whp. Wheel horsepower. Most cars lose at least 20% to the wheels but it’s said that the ecoboost is really close to the 310hp/350tq. LOL! So, choose wisely if you are a person that’s a tuner or a straight up give me everything you got at the purchase price.

    I would have to say this is a very well put together video and all though I respect his opinions while also agreeing with just about all of it , the one I would have to disagree with one of them! I drive a ruby red premium Ecoboost which is sooo much fun and I drive a lot!!! I'm talking like 24,000 miles a year lol and I feel as though the interior parts are much better and seem to be great quality , it doesn't feel cheap at all and I love the switch options in the center. It makes you feel like your in a plane cockpit which is actually what ford was going for when they designed the interior. Nothing is perfect but I can say after Putting this car through it and driving it like a maniac around turn everyone and then it handles like no mustang before it. It's actually really impressive and worth the fuel efficiency. Also that turbo spools quick which is also very useful!

    • @dominiczanella7378
      @dominiczanella7378 6 лет назад

      Jacob Martin I also have a 15 Ruby Red Ecoboost Premium and agree. It is an excellent choice for a daily driver that can be modded to smoke a stock GT. P.S. 400 RWHP and 479 rwtq.

    I can't stand how people praise the WRX/STI and the Evo etc, because the car company hasn't made anything better than them and they are top trim. This car is guess what... EVEN FASTER AND NICER than both of them and gets shit because Ford is a performance company and comes out with higher trim products. Just because there's a higher trim "v8" etc out there, doesn't make the car bad. So when people get the GT v8 what do you say, "oh , should've gotten the Ford GT with twin turbo v6 because that is just much better" get the fuck out of here seriously.

    • @fj7509
      @fj7509 6 лет назад

      Bray Zap Who TF is comparing a WRX to a Mustang?
      The WRX stands for World Rally Experimental. The Mustang traces its roots back to American 2 door muscle cars.
      They're two completely different vehicles.

I've got the aftermarket intercooler, thermal catback with 1320 downpipe, cobb stage 3 tune, etc... and I'm getting 27 to 30 mpg on the highway with cruise set at 65 most the time and passing a car here or there. It's better than that if I don't mess around and just relax and cruise. 93 octane fuel.

    The perfect mustang to finland, where cars are taxed by the amount of cylinders, power and displacement. The 2.3 ecoboost mustang is about 600€ per year, and the V8 model is way over 1000€/year. Oh, and couple that with a 500€ yearly insurance, and fuel price of 6,5€/ US gallon. You can't even modify the car, because every mod has to go thru an 250€ modification inspect. Diesel wagons can be registered as a vans if you strip out the back seats, and get an discount in car tax, and that's why they are popular in here.

    Yes of course the traditional stang is a V8 but technology is better today than from back in the day the ecoboost stang is the better choice for daily driving especially if you live in a bigger city sure you can get 435hp but where you going to use it at not in a populated city with a ton of stop and go traffic speed cameras red light cameras pot holes and not so bright people that like to walk out in traffic but yeah I test drove the 5.0 first before the ecoboost and of course it had that jump and rumble of taking off over the ecoboost but it felt as if the ecoboost was almost right there as far as acceleration not quite but it was good enough so for the better mpg and cheaper insurance cost I decided to go with the ecoboost cause it ain't like I'm about to go racing I hit it every now and then when it's late and nobody is on the e-way I'm satisfied with the ecoboost and last Ford made a recalibration kit to compete with the V6 camaro so for only $600 you can push the ecoboost up to 335hp and under 14sec quarter mile time and it's got V8 torque it's close to the 5.0 with it and still does good on gas whoops almost forgot top speed is 145mph 2016 performance pack
