    I am driving a fully loaded (including air conditioned seats) ecoboost version right now and let me tell you, I am stunned! Mine is an automatic with the transmission, suspension, and steering mode selector. I put that car in sport mode and let me tell you, you'll get out afterwards and open to hood to make sure you don't actually have a V8. The turbo 4 cylinder can burn rubber, get to 100MPH right now, throw you in your seat like a jet taking off. Honestly, It's a beautiful relationship between having all the power and still getting 20 to 28MPG. Before anyone knocks the ecoboost, go drive one, put the steering and shifting in sport modes, and then tell me it sucks afterwards. Spool the turbo, street race it, that thing kicks some pretty good ass if you know how to drive it.The automatic allows for steering paddle shifting, I have that option as well.

    The power does taper off up high for sure on the 2016 model. I got the Ford power pack tune for 600$ and it breaths life into the car. Up high, you get an extra 100hp and 70ft/lb torque.
    That tune is all dead easy to install on your own, so worth it. Added power throughout the band. Been driving mine for 2 years now with 73k miles.

    Those who complain about a bad reviewer should perhaps do their own and post it. It's always easier to criticize about anything no matter how good it is. I think that the ecoboost has plenty of power for most driving conditions and offcourse the v8 will provide the best driving experience from Mustang. But I'm more than happy with my ecoboost and have no regrets and can live with less horsepower and V8 growl.

    I think the turbo and the weight reduction both work nicely together because the turbos usually kick in more in 2nd / 3rd gear if I remember correctly, but the weight reduction helps you out on launch as well. Not so much for traction, but makes it easier to get up to the part where the turbo kicks in faster

I hope Chevrolet and Dodge follow suit. There must be others out there who love the look of these cars but wouldn't mind if they were not as fast and more fuel efficient. Bring on the V-6 Corvette! People should start getting over the V8 thing; gas guzzlers and heavy. Driving enthusiasts in North America are discovering that handling is just as much fun as power so why not have both? And a 4-cylinder turbo (with 310 hp!) is light, fast, and racy. I'm sure K&N will have a CAI kit for it soon to let it breath on the top end. What is the point of 400 and 500 hp muscle cars? If you want to lose your driver's license buy a 1000cc Sport bike and you will smoke any car on the road for 1/3 the money.

    4 cylinder Mustangs have been around since 1973 and the SVO Mustang was great 4 cylinder turbo Mustang. Dont know why people dislike the new ecoboost the ideas been around for 40 years. As for American muscle, the Mustang is the original pony so it seems fair that they should be entitled to do as they please with the design.

    The engine noise is part of the Mustang experience. Really hate the EcoBoost option. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I feel like it's gotten too mainstream with the styling and the EcoBoost. I'll sacrifice the extra 2-4 mpg for the V6/V8. EcoBoost engines rarely get their MPG ratings in the real world anyways.

      You are aware that the Ecoboost outperforms the V6 right? Also the V6 is a carry over from previous generation, it is a gas guzzling pig and the Ecoboost is superior in every way. I am planning to buy a demo 16 model 6 sp manual, leaning to the GT w performance package and Recaro seats. However with recent word that Ford will offer a mapping upgrade to the Ecoboost which will only improve its performance with more HP and torque I have not ruled it out yet either, just because as a daily driver for me for the next 3 years I dont know If I need 440hp to just go to the grocery store or run simple errands. • @lawrencerailey
    @lawrencerailey 9 лет назад +7

    Man, the vitriol in this thread is stupid. I bought my Ecostang for less than $23k (dealers will negotiate on them, you know). It's a base model, but the base comes pretty loaded. HID lights, Track Apps, swappable gauges in the info screen, bluetooth, push button start, soft touch materials, etc... the base stereo is way better than previous Fords. Base automatic comes with paddle shifters, which are great. I slapped a custom tune on it, and the butt dyno says I picked up some serious gains with that. So people saying that you have to buy a loaded $35k model are being stupid. You don't. These are very well equipped even in base trim. If I had $35k to spend on a car, I'd have gone for a base GT over a loaded Eco.
    With the tune, it spanks the 2010 and older GTs with the 4.6L motor. Yeah, it's not the 5.0L V8, either -- but it handles and drives so much better than the previous generation that you hardly notice. The 5.0 engine gives you more bang, for sure, but the bang-for-the-buck of the Ecoboost is hard to beat. Could you buy a previous gen GT for that money? Yes, you could. I considered it. But as a daily driver... this is just a better car.
    Now, someone explain to me what other car I could buy for $23k that is this fast, this nice looking, this well-built and handles this well. That's almost as cheap as a loaded Corolla for crissakes. So people saying "this isn't a real Mustang" need to read their history -- the SVO was a badass car for its day -- and those who say that you need a V8 to make power are dumb. You don't.
    But, I will agree on one point. If you have $35k to spend, don't buy a loaded Ecoboost, buy a basic GT. The Ecoboost is a good car in the Sports/Muscle Car under $30k segment. It's not really meant for the higher price ranges.

    Of note in this video there was a lot of valvetrain noise (at least what I assume is valvetrain noise) during the under hood footage. Reminded me of the 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 that I had a few years ago. Pretty noisy under the hood but made a similarly nice exhaust note.

    thats what i said from the beginning , for that price u can buy something REALLY GOOD used. Again, no idea why people buy new, you get half of what you could get used for the price of a new car. As long as you aren't full blown brain dead you can safely buy a car with low to middle of the way miles for the same price. Get a nice Cadillac CTS-V or Camaro ZL1 or bmw M6 or something way high end for the 35-38k, not an ecoboost mustang. Stop getting robbed people.

    • @BrayZap
      @BrayZap 9 лет назад

      Again as I stated, if you aren't brain dead you can buy used easily

    • @Stressless2023
      @Stressless2023 9 лет назад

      Braden Rikli I personally bought my last 2 cars brand new because of the lower interest rate (my current car is 0.9%) than I would have had if I bought used, and that's not an uncommon thing either. $35k can indeed get you more prestige, more performance, and more bang for your buck than a Mustang (but you can say the same thing about any car), but if you're not a cash buyer then you'll likely still pay more for that used car in the end, and it will likely be worth less.

    • @BrayZap
      @BrayZap 9 лет назад

      SuchANiceGirl22 lol i never care how much its "worth" in the end, you keep it long enough like you should and really love the car, it'll be a long time till you sell it (talking performance car wise)

    • @Stressless2023
      @Stressless2023 9 лет назад +2

      Well most people don't keep their cars until they become dinosaurs. Depreciation is still a factor when deciding between buying new or used.

    • @BrayZap
      @BrayZap 9 лет назад

      SuchANiceGirl22 i dont care one bit about "deprectiation" every single car on the face of the earth "depreciates" even bugattis. If you're that tight on cash you're worrying about deprectiation you should be going more in the Prius direction. A good 5-10 years is what a daily driver should last you. Another story even if its a garage queen.

You want more space, buy a four door sedan or something and quit cussing the mustang. It's great just the way it is.

    • @mikewill3176
      @mikewill3176 9 лет назад

      Redline Reviews It's possible it's the same block. That not coincidentally made like that either I mean Ford's owns the rights to the engine and the platform the fusion is built on is the same. Theirs no doubt the blocks are the same. I don't hate the car it looks great but a turbo I4 was not a good solution. You can't even make it sound good with flowmasters either lol. Good review though you got lucky with that all black one.

      Mini Moto I've read about this theory as well. Mazda derived that 2.3 from Ford because Ford made a lot of the parts for Mazda until quite recently. They may indeed share the same block

    • @mmiller1188
      @mmiller1188 9 лет назад +2

      maximus9401 The Mazda Speed 3 had DI and Turbo added to the MZR I4 - which was essentially the same as the Ford Duratec I4. Mazda designed, produced by ford. There were some differences (timing chain, etc) between the two. Ford went in a different direction for their DI and Turbo DI setups than Mazda did with their Skyactiv engines. The Ecoboost 4 and TI-VCT 2.0\2.3 are an evolution of the Duratec\MZR engine ... Skyactiv is supposed to be a clean slate design

      In all honesty ik this is a 2 year old comment but still
      The Ecoboost is for someone who wants a coupe with a sporty feel but without the gas cost and insurance cost of a V8, which is fine. the ecoboost i feel is more targeted towards the retired crowd or younger crowd who want a mustang but can't afford the V8 or don't want the now discontinued V6 that was known to be unreliable and guzzle gas for less performance out of the box, but anyways I guess you gotta be a bit more of a car person to understand the market.

      @lilmoris1 9 лет назад +3

      roy e My car is worth two or 3 Mustangs, this is no lie. While I do like Muscle cars, the new Mustang 4 cylinder is not what I would choose. It's a goddamn mustang, it's meant to have a v8 in it. That's like buying a Bentley and mod it to have a Honda engine. And, because I do have a life I also have the time to comment on the things I want to do so. We are all free to share our opinions on things we like and know about. And while my car is not a big block b8, it packs quite a punch, this is coming from a 911 GT3 RS owner.

    If you are considering buying a 5th gen Stang, really there is only one way to go imho, GT 5.0. The new '15 model uses the antiquated carry over V6 still w no changes. One is far better off to go with the Ecoboost option if fuel consumption is paramount. The ecoboost is a far superior motor to the V6. Friend has the new F150 V6 ecoboost and it tows more than his previous V8 model and gets better fuel economy. Marvelous job.
    My struggle is far whether I buy a low mileage 5th gen '14 w track pack and brembo leather seats plus nav and glass roof for a very good price relatively soon or whether I hold off and look for a low mileage same optioned '15 in a year but pay more. Gut tells me good things come to those who wait!
