As a newer embroidery business owner, there is a lot of self-learning of how to fix mistakes, machine malfunctions, and screw-ups... I appreciate that you do not cut out the thread breaks or issues you run into while doing a project. great vid thank you
Im learning to embroider because I want to start my own business and I appreciate how you showed everything in real time because it makes it easier to understand and is realistic!!
This is the best video. You do stuff that actually happens. It's not a 'sales pitch' everything is perfect and just do this and everything is fine. I learned so much out of every minute of this. Keep up the great work! This is the way videos should be.
I love your video. The design is beautiful. Just a word of caution to you. That adhesive spray that you are using is a permanent adhesive that is not made for embroidery. You need to use a temporary adhesive that is made for embroidery. The one you are using will gum up your needle and cause needle breaks and can cause you to have issues later on with your machine.
😂😂 I giggled when you mentioned your hoop - not having magnetic hoops.. I LOATH those hoops!!! No one understands how aweful those hoops are.. So I designed and embroidered a hoodie that said 'hoopin ain't easy' 😂😂 i know you get it!! 😂😂
Wow, I am sooooo impressed. Which John Deer Course did you take to learn this skill? How many seperate stitch placement lines, satin stitch, outline, secondary placement, ontop of another satin stitch, post-cut out lines, do you have in this digitized patch? I am clueless how to digitize this many layers in a patch. I have embrillance stitch artist 3 that I just purchased a few days ago. Everything is new, but like everyone else has said, this the BEST VIDEO I have ever seen on patches and the sleek finished look. You in a class ALL BY YOURSELF on this one!!!
Thank you so much! I did take his digitizer dream course. I also have the design as a digizrs patch. The design in the video was part of a hoodie I was making. I really appreciate stopping and watching. I will be doing more lives and tutorials.
Great video and your patch looks amazing! Appreciate the safety tip about the spray adhesive - you probably already know but please make sure you have ventilation/protection for the blowtorch and heat gun parts (especially if you make a lot of patches) Again really appreciate the video!
I am happy to report that because of your You Tube channel I was able to create my 1st patch. It's not perfect and I am ok with that. But it is something I have been wanting to do for years but did not grasp the full concept and steps. Thank you for sharing your know how.Brad-
Your welcome. I remove the plastic off the back after it finishes stitching. So you can use Heat N Bond are you can glue in with fabri-tec are E6000 are sew it. If you decide to do this method please remove the plastic before applying Heat N Bond
Bro Bro, you were very informative. I appreciate you! If you can do it I can do it too! May God continue blessing you my new friend. peace out! I holler.
Good morning, try this method it’ll save you a lot of time. If you change that large black fill area to an appliqué that would save you 40 minutes. But what I really wanted to suggest is rather than use the black fabric you used replace it. Hoop two layers of the heavy tearaway along with your plastic. Then sew your design. When it’s done you pop it out then use a lighter to clean the edges. I sandwich the plastic between the pieces of tearaway. I think it looks better to the customer.
Great video! Just got my first machine. Want to make patches. I was wondering how you figure out your pricing. That one hour for making it must increase the price. Thanks for sharing.
Hey man i loved the video! but it left me with one question. if my customer wants a velcro patch how would I adhere the hook and loop to the back of the patch? in the most professional way.
My experience with the machine has been great. The few problems I had was when I first got it 2 years ago and it was user error from learning the machine. It takes DST and TAP files
wow. I am exploring the craft and getting my first machine. the large machine you have in the video is obviously an advanced investment later on once I feel out the trade. Right now, I'm looking at a couple of first machines, single needle Brother SE700 4x4 hoop, or slightly bigger around 5x7 hoop models. My question is will I be disappointed very quickly or feel limited if I start with a 4x4 hoop size model? Or will I find 4x4 useful enough to avoid the extra cost of the jump to 5x7 or similar size other models, which easily doubles the cost? Yet, I don't want to focus too much on cost for the first machine if it will quickly feel limiting once I get into it and grow out of the 4x4 and want to explore a 5x7 a little bigger model? I had other hobbies before, and have learned that cheap initial purchases, trying to cover too much in one purchase or bundle is not wize, and quickly gets replaced resulting in wasted money where the more expensive option firstly was better. on the same note, is Brother a good first brand, what about Poolin or others you can recommend? Maybe you have already done a getting into embroidery video with tips and what not to do information you can share the link to. Thanks for your response.
I’m thinking you can spray the adhesive into a jar, and the use a cheap brush to paint the adhesive on the patch. This will keep the adhesive from getting on your needles.
Great video! Newbie question…If you are selling these how is the customer attaching to a garment? Are you providing the glue as well? Or another method?
I dont provide the glue. They can can get it sewed on are they can purchase the Heat N Bond, to iron it on are they can purchase Fabri-tac are E6000 to glue it on. I give the customer the option of how they prefer to attach it to their garments. I give them a note in the package explaining that and also in the description of the Etsy Posting.
I was sold on the motor and 7 year warranty. This machine runs like a commercial machine. It also makes machines like Brother and Babylock seem slow as for as the speed and when your in this business you want things done quickly with high quality.
Can you please explain again how you digitized the yellow boarder around the patch for digitizing please, I am a beginner and learning how to digitize, and what is the plastic for because I put the iron on to press on my shirts or jackets for it to stay and thank you so much!
Anyone with stitch artist 3 know how to create these secondary and tertiary outlines, after the initial placement line and satin stitch, and to increase the width on the secondary zig zag and satin stitich, after it is layed/placed onto the plastic, in Embrillance? Thanks
A lot of that fabric and stabilizer just got thrown out as excess at the and of the stitching process. I'm making a mental note to do 2 copies on the same piece if I make a patch. Fill that hoop up as much as you can
It’s kinda funny as I chuckled to myself. I’ve been emb for 20 years and have never thought of this technique. Women go to expensive sewing stores and men go to Home Depot. LOL. I’ll need to get lock tight and a heat gun. lol. I don’t trust myself with a mini torch though. For sure I’d catch some thing on fire. Lolol. I’m wondering if E 6000 glue would be smooth upon application to fabric and laundering??.? Should glue only be applied to edge, or entire patch? Is there a reason you applied black fill stitch under the letters and not use appliqué fabric. Are you using cotton fabric, or something firmer? Please, do tell!! Now I wish you would make detailed videos for your tricks and embroidery tips. Even old embroiders will learn something new! Uhhh, that’s me, old embroiders. You are a fantastic instructor so I do hope you post more of your techniques. Thank you!😊
I now use fabric first the big fill now. I use fabri-tac because E6000 won't stop spilling out lol. I put the glue in the middle and close to the edges of the patch. If I decide to glue it on but mostly now I'm embroidering directly to the garment if I can. I am planning on doing a video are live very soon. I just have some big orders to fullful so my time is crazy right now. But be on the look out.
I noticed when I force my hoop together and its not open enough after awhile your hoop stretches out and you can no longer get it as tight.there are tricks to fix that issue.
@Jonijacque ohh okay I usually use that hoop for hoodies I have another one that gets pretty tight on that fabric. But that one I have the screws adjusted for hoodies.
I’ve been doing embroidery since 2001, your video is one of the most thorough I’ve seen. Looking forward to learning more from you!

Hello do you have a video on creating the patch? Beautiful work
@jessicadeggs5765 not this particular one check my live videos I believe one is there
I love it! I wish I was better in the digitizing department to get those patches right with the satin stitch.
You can do it. Look up John Deers Embroidery legacy on YT he does videos and also has a class that I took.
Thank you….. for sharing… you made it easy to follow…
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid! Question how can I explain how to get this digitized to make the outline stitches?
By far the best explanation and demo, I have seen yet. I have a much better understanding of patches!!
Thank you for such a great learning video
Thank you stopping by and watching
I have been a failure at patches! Thank you! This is so helpful!
You will get it just keep practicing it takes determination and the will to want to get it right.
Use black bobbin thread. Great bideo
This is beautifully done. Can you do a video on the process of digitizing this patch? Please and thank you!
That will be my next video

Hi I actually already done that I started using felt fabric in place of the big fill stitch area. I also will try the heavy tear away option thanks.
If you use the heat and bond as the stabilizer you will make it a simple iron on patch

This is a great video. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
I may have missed it but what is the purpose of using the plastic vs a tear away or wash away stabilizer?
Tear away would rip while doing the satin border wash away will also rip.
Hey man i loved the video! but it left me with one question. if my customer wants a velcro patch how would I adhere the hook and loop to the back of the patch? in the most professional way.
I'm currently trying to come up with a cleaner way to do velcro. Once I do I will make a video. Mostly people cut around the edge at the end.
How has your experience been with that Happy Japan embroidery machine? What file type does it use?

Yes it was
Why don't you float your fabric instead of hooping it? Can stretch out your hoops.spray a little temp.adhesive on your stabilizer then lay it across
The only time I would float fabric is if I'm doing an Appliqué. I'm not understanding the stretch you hoop thing. You lost me on that one. 😁🤔
I noticed when I force my hoop together and its not open enough after awhile your hoop stretches out and you can no longer get it as tight.there are tricks to fix that issue.
@Jonijacque ohh okay I usually use that hoop for hoodies I have another one that gets pretty tight on that fabric. But that one I have the screws adjusted for hoodies.
just making sure but yoy shrink the outline by lighting it, so theres no extra work digitizing a smaller design
I don't shrink the outline by lighting it that is you to get rid of fly away thread. And to make the patch smaller I just resize the file in hatch
A beginner would be lost! You don’t show how to achieve the design first.
