Yes the rectangle is your page. It is usually letter size or A4 depending on the settings. You can adjust the page size. It might be useful to make a page size the same as the stitch area of your hoop e.g. 4 inches by 4 inches. Then you can size your image so that it fits inside the page and therefore will fit inside the hoop. The dimensions of the embroidery are more important than the file size. Your first embroidery was far too big for the hoop. Also you will get a much better stitch out if you use an embroidery stabilizer on the back of the fabric. A cut away stabilizer would work for that thicker knit. For really stretchy knits you will need an adhesive stabilizer. For woven fabrics, a tearaway stabilizer usually works. Those are just general guidelines. You may want to research this topic a bit more. Great that you shared Inkstitch, which is a great free resource for those who cannot afford to buy software. Purchased software will have more features than the current version of Inkstitch, but it is improving all the time.
I want to add: Adjust density, stitch style, stitch angle and so on in the file. Never resize on the machine/the machine file except you're aware of how it'll impact your stitches. Yes, the first file was funny: about 250.000 stitches. Her machine is probably only capable to go up to 50.000 stitches. Beside the size of that embroidery it would have taken her over 100h to embroider with her machine. I'm sorry to say but the whole video shows that she has absolutely no idea what she's doing. I'll look at some never videos to see if she has improved.
This made me so much less intimidated by machine embroidery! So many people on RUclips take it so deathly serious that it makes me afraid to start but the way you handled your mistake with grace and humor 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
yall are some amazing people. thank you for the video it taught me alot and i feel like my brain was able to be "so interested" (I have adhd..) because you're so fun to watch.
this is a little more complex, basically you need to create multiple images from your design each with the same size but onlz containing the elements belonging to a specific color, convert them to svg and import into inkscape and stack them all on top of one another - then associate different fill colors for each of these elements. With the inkstich functions under "Params" and "Visualize and export" you can then adjust the multicolor pattern before you export it... that is the very short version. It can be done with inkstitch definitely, but it requires a little patience and frustration tolerance before the goal is reached :D
You are not only talented, but creative and absolutely a joy to listen to and learn from. And your wingman (camera guy) completes it all for me. Tears were rolling down my cheeks laughing at the two of you bantering. I am the type, teach, I don’t need all the extra chatter in between. But you and your wingman are awesome. I’m actually going to pay for your channel because you deserve every bit of it.
You are teaching us how to do things. We are learning by your mistakes lol. I would do the wrong side. You are so talented and creative. I love you so much. You both are wonderful and make my day. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful adventures in art.
I literally laughed out loud when the moment of truth was upon us and we found out the sweater was stitched together 😂 I've totally done this sort of thing before!
Thanks for this video- I'm super new to machine embroidery and was wondering if I could stitch my own designs that I've done in procreate. Yes i can!!! Love your vibe ❤
I'm pretty sure the rectangle in the middle is your page / work space, that's why it said it was too big because the image went outside / over the lines, if that makes sense. love you by the way, x
That is cool. I love Inkscape for making SVG files and turning hand drawn stuff into SVG and also saving as transparent large PNG files. It's so awesome. I have an older PS and AI but I still use Inkscape the most. - Heidi
Yeah, she could have saved a step doing the vectorizing of the image in inkscape directly. Draw png, load in inkscape, convert to vector, convert to embroidery.
I literally gasped @14:49. I have had that moment and welp....... lessons are learned and mistakes become teaching moments and not failures. Thank you for sharing the whole ride, even when the rollercoaster doesn't exactly follow the desired path. I just pickup up an older machine while thrifting and am excited to get hacking. Thanks for making my ride, just a wee bit easier!!! I love it when the Universe provides🖤
So much fun watching you go at it.... I have made the same mistake, ooops another shirt... lol.... never thought about cutting it out and using it as a patch. Loved your video... hope you make more ;) Cheers!
Well I had my share of frustration trying to use Inkscape but I did use a PNG file sooooo maybe that’s what messed me up. You have a great attitude and I love the design!!! Thank you for sharing
OK. You can change the size of your working space. Set it to the same size as your hoop. Also change your tool bar sizing to mm or inches so you can see the size of your icon. So you might want to have a pumkin that's 1inch and once that's 4 inches
Don't worry about the sewing mistake, everyone has made mistakes before, as long as ya learn from them and then good to go. Love the designs and they turned out great. Have fun watching you and learning from ya as well. Have a great day and may our Lord bless you in everything you do.
15MINS was perfect help give a heads up to everyone else. Super realistic! Also make the sweater. Patch Sweater, Demo Sweater, and accomplished what you were trying to even if it was a surprise
This was a straigt forward tutorial and I'm glad I found this. Now I can get other patterns I want, instead of using the ones standard on my machine. As for the sweater, use it for testing patterns. So you can be extra sure it looks great
As she started the machine I wondered if she had slipped the back of the shirt over the embroidery arm. But good thing is you didn't ruin a shirt you loved!
Omg i am so sooo soooooo glad i had this recommended in my YT page!!!! I was hoping to find a way to do this without another $300 program! Thank you thank you thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
LOL! Such a cute design, perfect on an orange sweater. Oh, well it will make a great patch. So far I have bought designs. Most are excellent but I got one that is too thick - practically bullet proof. I'm gonna do my own even though I can't draw worth ... beans. Throw something at your peanut gallery.
BAWHAHAHHAHA OMG I'm so sorry you ruined the sweater but it was so funny. And this video was SO HELPFUL! OMG I'm so excited to make things!! Thank you so much for this Knowledge. life. changing.
Thank you so much for this video and sharing your knowledge! I'm so elated that you've found this path to creating on a Brother Embroidery Machine. I've got a question. I followed your directions and exported my procreate image with NO BACKGROUND as a PNG. Then used Adobe Express to convert to an SVG. Then imported the SVG into Inkscape to create the PES....When I generate the image for preview, the first strokes it makes covers the whole background with stitches with black and I uploaded the painting without a background. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thank you for your help.
Using convertio to create the SVG saved me. I tried for hours to get it to work prior to this video with an SVG exported out of affinity photo and it wouldn't work! Thank you!
Hi can you revers the embroidery design in the software I mean after you turn the svg Design into Embroidery Can you undo Turn it back into a JPEG Or. Into what ever You had it Before you turn it into Embroidery ? Can you do that in that software or. Any Software ?
You said you switched the needle to the embroidery needle- can you please clarify the number of the needle that came with the unit that works as the embroidery needle? I just got one of these and I embroidered with the default standard needle for my first project. Is that okay?
i hate when this happens! i upgraded into a professional one and never happens and you can do free flo embroidery but with this i ruined sooo many things and usually happens at the end !
hey, thank you so much for this video it’s been really helpful, i have one question: approximately how long did it take for you it to “render stitch plan” ? mine is taking ages
Hi Heather, I just started using inkscape to create rhinestone templates, that box is called the workspace. You are supposed to put your image on there to save them for exporting into circuit.
For anyone following along (like me) You actually have to install ink/ stitch into inkscape but it's free and has great instructions on installing (:
Thank you!!!!

thank you

a year later and im glad i scrolled down before i commented...
Wow do you do tutorial videos? that was fantastic!
@@chloemccall2293 I teach Bernina digitizing software here on RUclips.
If you haven't sewn something together and had that moment of realization you can't call yourself a sewer lol. The amount of times I've done this too
This made me so much less intimidated by machine embroidery! So many people on RUclips take it so deathly serious that it makes me afraid to start but the way you handled your mistake with grace and humor 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
Glad I chanced across this site. I've used the Brother SE625 machine in past and want to improvise some PES files 😊
yall are some amazing people. thank you for the video it taught me alot and i feel like my brain was able to be "so interested" (I have adhd..) because you're so fun to watch.
How do you do it with different colors??

Who among us hasn’t made a catastrophic mistake like this before. Love that you took it with humor!
She has a refreshing sense of humor😊

I love this!! I used to embroider by hand a lot in high school but this is such a fun easy way to upcycle stuff from the thrift store!
Thank you so much! 💜 That’s so cool that you did it by hand, I felt like I wouldn’t be that good at doing it by hand
The box you could change it to the size of your hoop. So that it wont be too big in the future. File, documents properties and change the box size
OMG I'm SO excited to watch this! I've had a very nice machine just SITTING because I can't afford the programs. Uggg.
THIS (the pumpkin debacle😂)is why I love your videos. So many people would have edited that out. Thanks for the info!
Yes we all have 😂
Learn the correct use of literally, and stop running the language
Thanks for this video- I'm super new to machine embroidery and was wondering if I could stitch my own designs that I've done in procreate. Yes i can!!! Love your vibe ❤

You should use stabilizer when you embroider. It makes a good difference! Thanks for the software info!
I love how authentic this video is!!!
Great job!! And thank you!!!
So much fun watching you go at it.... I have made the same mistake, ooops another shirt... lol.... never thought about cutting it out and using it as a patch. Loved your video... hope you make more ;) Cheers!
I can totally see myself doing the same thing with stitching the front and back of the sweater. ❤ I totally understand the rage laugh.
I like this style of tutorials, very bob Ross like in its own way
I am on a similar path right now, my frontier is converting the strokes to satin stitches so it ends up looking more clean and shiny
I probably would have never been able to figure this out. Thank you so much !!!
This comment made me laugh so much😂😂
Well I had my share of frustration trying to use Inkscape but I did use a PNG file sooooo maybe that’s what messed me up. You have a great attitude and I love the design!!! Thank you for sharing
The way I cackled at this video! Thank you for putting your “happy accident” in the video! You are NOT alone!!!😂🤣😂

This video was such a great help in getting me started on digitalizing! Thank you so so much!!
This video had me laughing so hard 😂😂
I was looking into the files type and found this video just what I needed plus the humor!❤
Thank you so much! I have been trying to do this for years and by the grace of God just stumbled upon your video. You're an embroidering angel! lol
Didn't know if you knew. You could've used inkscape to create svg by using trace bitmap. It's under path option.
Should have gotten yourself some glow in the dark embroidery thread, could have made all your designs extra spooky for halloween!
subscribed after the "foreshadowing" scene XD You're hilarious
thank you thank you thank you! your tip on importing it as an SVG saved my life!
This was a straigt forward tutorial and I'm glad I found this. Now I can get other patterns I want, instead of using the ones standard on my machine.
As for the sweater, use it for testing patterns. So you can be extra sure it looks great
You have helped me more than any other site or teacher. Thank You!!
I can’t believe you picked my suggestion!!! I literally screamed!!! I love how the haunted plant party came out! You did an amazing job as always!
Such a great random idea! I totally want a haunted plant party lol
Thank you thank you thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Fantastic, made me laf. This is the thing with embroidery, so many things can go wrong before one masters the art
I just bought an embroidery machine for $100 today and this is a lifesaver 😵💫
Wow!!!! Great deal! Enjoy!
How do you make colored embroidery files? (such as designs with multiple colors)
I AM SOOOOO DAMN HAPPY I FOUND YOUR VIDEO 😭😭 I’ve been searching for this for ages aaah thank you so much 💗🫶🏽

This was awesome, you made me laugh and I also learned something.... Thank you so much for sharing this

ROFL😂I absolutely love this video...learned so much & had fun doing it 😅you're the best 👌🏾
Lol, I knew it!! 😂😂😂😂 still love it! You need stabilizer too. ❤
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and mistakes. Can we change the colors of the design with this software?
cut up the whole sweater and use it for a pattern ☺️ vintage boxy clothes are cool again and finding patterns for them is hard sometimes!
Thankyou so much i was about to spend money on software i didn't need!
Lmao, because I did the same thing lol it was my first time on a sewing machine. Thank you for the video you’re so chill the whole entire time.
This was chilll
This video helped SO MUCH. Thank you! Subscribed and following along for more helpful tips and tricks!
BAWHAHAHHAHA OMG I'm so sorry you ruined the sweater but it was so funny. And this video was SO HELPFUL! OMG I'm so excited to make things!! Thank you so much for this Knowledge. life. changing.
Girl, your hair is gorgeous!
Does this work for all types of embroidery machines or specifically Brother machines?
These are the cutest!
lmao. That's great. You are great for leaving it in.
Bahahaha. We have all had blonde moments like this. I laughed so hard... so relatable.
Can this be done on older machines? Same process of converting a procreate file to an embroidery one?
Love this Video! Thank you for your Realness♥️♥️
Thank you so much for this video and sharing your knowledge! I'm so elated that you've found this path to creating on a Brother Embroidery Machine. I've got a question. My new soda machine will be here soooon 🤪
Using convertio to create the SVG saved me. I tried for hours to get it to work prior to this video with an SVG exported out of affinity photo and it wouldn't work! Thank you!
I'm wondering if you can do multiple colors.
Yes you can, as many as you want. It’s a little tedious changing the thread every few minutes but yes!
I have a question, does it only work on the drawings or does it also work on photos or a personal logo??
Holy shit now she's doing embroidery? Will she stop at nothing? 😱 What an artsy madwoman!
I literally yell NoonOooooooOOoo! use a seam ripper ! when u cut it out😭😅😳
Thank you for the info. I have a question do you know how to add color stitches to your artwork?
Don't feel bad. Once I was at the kitchen table sewing while my kids were at school, and I sewed my shirt to the table cloth! LOL
Hii may I know can I just use my iPad and not a laptop to do all this will it work ?
I love this video 😂😂 something I’d do but 🤷🏽♀️ hey learn something everyday. 👏🏽
I was wondering you never used stabilizer??
i am new to ink stitch and when i go to see the preview it just does the outline how can i get it to add the details inside as well?
thanks a lot for the video very helpful!! much needed
Hi can you revers the embroidery design in the software I mean after you turn the svg Design into Embroidery Can you undo Turn it back into a JPEG Or. Into what ever You had it Before you turn it into Embroidery ?
Can you do that in that software or. Any Software ?
Is there a school or program to learn this type of stuff?!
You can put haunted plant party on the pocket
It’s 2024 and I’m only seeing this video. Very helpful
Great guide, thank you!
You said you switched the needle to the embroidery needle- can you please clarify the number of the needle that came with the unit that works as the embroidery needle? I just got one of these and I embroidered with the default standard needle for my first project. Is that okay?
Ok Heather, I see you, so cool great job. Hey Shane
If you don’t like the way it came out can you edit it?
thank you now feel so much better .....i
Hi. Can I digitize using an ipad only,
I don't have a computer. Thanks
i hate when this happens! i upgraded into a professional one and never happens and you can do free flo embroidery but with this i ruined sooo many things and usually happens at the end !
hey, thank you so much for this video it’s been really helpful, i have one question: approximately how long did it take for you it to “render stitch plan” ? mine is taking ages
Why didn’t you use stabilizer?
what should I do if it did not digitized the way I wanted and not all my drawing can be see ?
Hi Heather, I just started using inkscape to create rhinestone templates, that box is called the workspace. You are supposed to put your image on there to save them for exporting into circuit.
Love you for being truthful.
