well the most recent one i can think of is gran turismo 6. one of the selling points of the game was that it was a tribute to senna and it even had a whole part of the game dedicated to him where we try to beat his best times from the beginning to the end of his career.
@@aggbkyse5971 Senna was also loved in Japan due to him driving for McLaren/Honda. He helped with the development of the NSX too

The fact there was a Porsche 911 in a GT game makes me want Porsche to really appear in a future GT title. Bastards at EA taking Porsche hostage...

Kinda sad tho cause a lot of game devs like these use the RUF as a replacement which give a lot of attention, and Ruf s are faster than porsches of course.
Although the F1 cars were based on one car from each season, it's pretty cool they added colour schemes to represent other car, eg the black F094 looks like the Sauber-Mercedes, the blue and green F090/S looks like the Leyton House, etc, etc. Then there's Sample 001 001 which in arcade mode is Mika Hakkinen's Mclaren MP4/13, with 'Test' written on the sidepods.
I can't ever get it to appear as the McLaren, I have it in my garage and even in arcade it appears as an RX7 with absurd ground clearance, and that's in my PAL game and an NTSC-U copy. The screenshot I've seen of it was presumably from the Japanese version (power was in ps) and it was in place of the SLK.
+blainyrules Sounds like Xenn's screenshot. He had to hack in the body because there is no other way to get the correct form of the Sample 001. (He also found an RM Alfa 156, his work is very interesting)
blainyrules I'd love to see more F1 legendary cars, like Ayrton Senna's Morlboro car, any of Michael Schumacher, and F1 cars from every generation from the 50s to today.

@João Esteves That Porsche was the personal K. Yamachi 911 GT3, it was added personally without no names and, as that, recquiring no licenses, only for testing dues inside PD, but not to be released to the public at all. As many of the cars shown on the clip, they were left as "residual data" and cut off on posterior updated revisions as for the NTSC/PAL version.
That also explains why it's doing a 911 headlamp on the GT3 NTSCJ/PAL cover.
I'm willing to bet that the Porsche 911 is what we were supposed to use in the final regulation time trial at Complex String, given that K. Yamauchi has 1st Place there. But because of EA, the trial was redone with the RUF equivalent, the RGT.
why is all the removed bodies switched to a daihatsu lol
It's probably the default body for cars or something.
The Daihatsu's body is the first car in the car data, making it default by the ID of 1.
@fomocoboy Forza doesnt have any license, it would be turn 10 Studios. 2nd of all, EA had exklusiv Porsche contracs making it nearly impossible for other studios to get their hands on Porsche.
WammboLovesRedbull Not only that, put Forza didn’t come into the picture until 2005, so they couldn’t have had Porsche Licensing if GT3 was 2001
If you go to the car dealer and select the first car of the first brand of thé first country you end up with this Daihatsu ;)

3:29 the Honda S2000 you show did make it into the game. It was a test car, only found in A-3 PAL license tests. I just believe it wasn't purchasable. Unless I am mistaken?
It's on the US copy too.
The car used in A-3 is the Spoon S2000. It can be won in the Amateur leagues Type-R Meeting.

+Kevin Moondust I might be missing something, because the only EA games I can think of that have the 911 GT3 off the top of my head are Real Racing 3 (which sucks because of micro-transactions) and possibly Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2010. Both of these games probably aren't the game you're talking about.

You are forgetting the BEST NFS game ever, which had a 996 GT3: Need For Speed Porsche.
The reason for my dissing at EA is because EA secured exclusive rights to feature Porsche cars in their games, and no other developer can do so WITHOUT PAYING EA FIRST, thus they are forced to show RUF, or Gemballa cars.
For example, Forza recently showed Porsche packages for their games because Turn10 had to pay up and do all the bureaucratic arrangements with EA to display Porsche cars.
This agreement still stands up until next year, and was signed in 2000 when Need For Speed Porsche was released.

I oddly feel like the Gran Turismo series has gotten progressively less exciting. Certainly not worse, just...it's lost it's relatively arcadey/simulator experience and has turned itself into just a bland, racing game. It was more exciting in previous titles and i just haven't been excited with 5 and 6.
It just has become much less arcade like as at the time of 1 and 2 they were really the only fun simulation racing game which is what 3 and especially 4 fully transitioned into simulation games. 5 and 6 continued this trend which is where you are very much right in the regard, the games have felt like other racing games as most racing games had turned also into simulation games as they’ve noticed kids don’t really play racing games as much as they used to. It saddens me, but I feel as if GT Sport has the right idea as of now. It is much more archaic in the sense of its customization that isn’t over complicated and you get cars pretty easily and the controls let you mess around more with its vehicles, responding much more smoother and with courses that are much more wide which allows for some pretty fast corners as compared to the previous two games which used more closed roads. If you haven’t yet, you should buy GT Sport if you want something similar to GT 1 and 2 and even 3.

Right? I think aesthetics was also something that was much more pleasant in 3 but became hopelessly monotone and the shitty-type of minimalism with 4 onward, not to mention music and menu graphic interface was so much better in 3.

I remember seeing a glitch where on the track with the raised corner that you could flip your car on, if you landed on another car, your cars would merge forming a car on the bottom, driving, and your car stuck to the top of it, also "driving".

It's a little funny that the PAL region got Vauxhall, considering that most (if not all) countries in the region, except Great Britan has the Opel branded versions.
Those two MX-5's (one with a cage and one with a spoiler) probably belonged to guys who worked at Polyphony, seeing as they both have Japanese plates.

I think I may have a rare glitched NTSC Disc because without any cheats, the #51 Chrysler Viper actually shows up and you can actually drive it, but only during the license test.

Just a placeholder made by the dev's of the game. It's an easy way to just use it as a tester to see how the car(s) perform without having to render a body from scratch and scrapping ones that didn't work out.
The trick is used in countless games that are in the design proccess.

I knew, that the Lamborghini is only in the NTSC-version available, but with the Stratos its new for me. And really surprised I'm about the Porsche :O
Because of the Vauxhall/Opel, only when I played the game in English, I had Vauxhall, when I played in German Opel.
I think the reason why Polyphony Digital removed some cars for certain regions is because of marketing. So they programmed certain cars to be for certain regions due to the fact that people buy things in different markets. For an example the NTSC version of the game has generic F1 cars because they knew their products don't sell all that great in those regions while the NTSC/J version got actual F1 cars

Wow, I thought there was only a black F094/S (Senna FW16), which is what I have. I never knew that the F094/H (Hill FW16) also had a black livery. Looks like I need to do another run of the PD cup!

I've also notice that the stratos road car has it's front wheels clipping at the bonnet, the 2 scrapped mazda miatas (MX-5) Uses Japanese Liesence plates instead of the display car name

The solid black Polyphony 001 is supposed to gained by completing the game 100%. But for some reason, the game gave me it after I beat the Tokyo R246 100 lap endurance.
