My personal rarest car in all GT2 is the Lancia Stratos Rallycar version. Me and my dad used to share playing the game in the early 2000s, and he once won the car pretty early on, but i decided to sell it since is was valued like 125k (which was a lot for that moment), with the promise to earn it again. He couldn't remember which race gave him that stratos and it took me more than 20 years to learn that it's one of the prize cars for the Apricot hill 200km endurance race, after reading the list of all prize cars. Sadly he's no more here, but i still have the ps1 memory card with the original savefile, so one day or another i shall do that race 🫡
The rarest cars for me are the two prize cars from the Rome 2 hour endurance race (Toyota COROLLA Rally Car '97, Toyota ALTEZZA LM Edition) given that neither is available elsewhere, and when I completed the game I accidentally won that race with a full garage and won no prize car, and I sure as heck wasn't doing _that_ race again 😅
The Lancer Evolution V RS has two advantages over its Evolution VI and respective GSR counterparts: its lighter weight than the GSR helps with handling, and its lower power than the Evolution VI when fully upgraded lets it enter events with 591 hp (600 PS) power limits.
I maybe have an explanation for the 2 RX7 RZ being made rare in the game. In real life some model years of the RZ version of the FD RX7 were sold in a very low numbers of units, like 150 for some iirc
The Demio was my first favorite car when I played gt1. When I got my uncle's ps1, I didn't play simulation mode cause I thought it was for grown-ups. Green was my favorite color, so when i would occasionally see a green Demio in arcade mode, I just knew I liked it and thought it was a hidden car. I think my earliest memory in simulation mode is buying it and wondering why it isn't winning. The mazdaspeed version cemented it as being cool to me. And finding the glx special in gt2 felt special, kinda tying back to my original idea of the car.
The evo 5 rs is scotia white not scotch, ive had one. Its the only colour they came in. they where stripped of any luxury items such as electric windows, climate control etc because they where bought by rally teams to strip down and change into rally cars
Yeah I remember when I played GT2, started with civic eg6 then grinded until I can afford the impreza 22b, it’s fun to drive and also can beat the 4wd also turbo event
For me it's definitely the licence prize cars. I've been playing GT2 on and off since I was a child, and I've only developed the skill and persistence to get all gold in the international and S licences two years ago as part of my 100% effort in dedication to my late uncle who always played GT2 with me when I was younger. Rare used cars are just a matter of regularly checking the stores (there are also online spreadsheets where you can look up the occurrences) and rare endurance prize cars are just a time sink (less so if you emulate and can put a savestate right before the finish line). But the only thing that helps with license prize cars is mastering the truly unforgiving tests.
Version 1.0 of GT2 sim disc is missing some cars in the used car dealership(i.e one of the MR2 models and 300ZX models). It was corrected on v1.1 & 1.2
@@ChilledGemini99 I don't believe there are any unintentionally missing used cars in the US version - the US 300ZX simply doesn't have as many variants as the early Japanese Fairlady Z, there's no 2+2 turbo version of it in the game.
@@pez2k Ok gotcha, so the same situation with the Honda NSX Type R and the 1993 Acura NSX. (Kinda?) Edit: also *I think* the GT wiki is incorrect with the listing of 300ZX cars. I went to the GT2 used car rotation website and my used cars didn't match up with the 300ZX that's supposed to appear in my copy.
@@ChilledGemini99 A bit different actually - the 300ZX is the only car that has an actual US market duplicate instead of just being renamed, no idea why. The US disc has both the early Fairlady Z and the 300ZX on it, but only the 300ZX is available to buy (as well as the late Fairlady Z renamed as 300ZX in the New Car lot, confusingly). The used car list for the US version contains more cars than actually show up in the game - the Fairlady Z from the Japanese version is in the list but is blocked from appearing by the selected US English language (the same logic that stops Opels showing up in UK English). The list on the wiki might be showing those hidden cars, or it might be from another region. There's a data dump by adeyblue on his Airesoft website that's 100% correct to the game files, but that too will list the hidden cars as I think figuring out the whole language blocking thing came later (I think it might have been me, working from his research).
60 Used Car lists eh? Someone confirm that or somethings. I say that because I happen to have a Japanese guide for (Japanese, obviously) Gran Turismo (the first one as I didn't specify, obviously) which states there is 61 lists and lists all the contents of them (in Japanese text). I have no idea if that info is any accurate though, as we know sometimes these guides are made with non-retail builds, so... ...and also that may make one wonder "Did they change that with the sequel?" probably. And before ye readers ask, the guide is "The Best Navigator - Gran Turismo Official Guide Book" copyrighted to "ASCII", in 1998.
Both GT1 and GT2 have 60 lists that rotate each 10 days. Unlike GT2, the list was the same in all regions for GT1 - I exported the full set used in the game for the unofficial GT wiki a while ago, so it'd be interesting to see where the guide varies.
@@pez2k I approve this especially if even all the revisions were checked as well just in case (both GT1 NTSC/U ones, three GT2 NTSC/U ones and both GT2 NTSC/J ones) as one never knows
@@PSXDRIVERPLAYERBSTH Yep, I even went as far as buying the GT2 PAL Platinum release to see if the rumours of it being a different build were true (it's not). Part of planning the GT1+ and GT2+ mods involved researching exactly what changed between each and every release in order to collate a definitive version, so I ended up with a whole shelf of GT1 and GT2 discs.
@@pez2k All righty then, local man approves. I also got GT2 Platinum some years back not only because it was the only packaging that was localized to Finnish (Black Label never was not to my knowledge, thus I just have 2 different English language packages, UK and AUS since the latter came in a big box plus the French 3-disc Limited Edition) and I also wanted to know if Platinum is a different revision but since I never saw any definite proof online and there was no reports, I got what I expected from the beginning, no revisions there, can confirm as well.
Well, I thought FOR SURE it would be the Suzuki Cappuccino. Because whenever I did the 100 % playthrough, it was NEVER there. Whereas this #1, I felt I got it whenever I wanted. I must have been lucky then.
5:50 I'm playing GT2 atm at around day 80 and I got this exact FB RX-7 at the day 50 cycle, the credit and color are exactly the same, this is the first appearance but after that it appears quite frequently even 3 in a week, not as rare as 22B, AZ-1 (incl A-Spec) etc.
I have been able to get the 2000GT within the first 10 days. The earliest you can obtain it is day 8. One day for each license test with all golds before backing out the menu. (Day 1 for Nat. B, Day 2 for Nat. A, Day 3 for IC, Day 4 for IB, Day 5 for IA, Day 6 for S.) Be sure to gold all the S tests to get the TS020 from the S license. Day 7 for winning the Red Rock Valley All-Stars race and selling the Speed 12 and then buying the 2000GT. Fun strategy for getting it early and saves the pain of waiting later down the line.
It's just not a very useful car. It costs a lot of money, you can't tune it and it's not as quick as many of the touring cars and LM cars you can win for free in races.
The R390 '97 road car would be the rarest if you translate to real life since the car doesn't exist anymore due to being remodelled into the '98 road car. The XJR15 is at least classed as a race car so you can downforce tune it.
so glad I snagged #1 on this list when I did. my all time favorite Impreza besides the '99 rally car. I've been a longtime gt2 player and I had no idea just how rare all of these great vehicles were. now I know
I always thought the Cerumo Supra was rare because I only ever had it in my garage once in all my years of playing GT2 and I don't think my dad or older brother ever won it on their playthroughs of the game. Then again, they had the Kure R33 Skyline and I never won that. One rare car that I had back in the day was a Lotus Elise GT1 with the racing modification installed, but no livery. I don't know how it happened, but it did and I've never been able to replicate it.
Hi Matt. Nice content you make, i'm a huge huge gran turismo fan as well, from gt1 up to day, with over 25.000 confirmed in game race wins in total over the series 😊 is this video about the eu pal version of the game? 😊
I already knew that the Impreza 22B was one of the rarest, but... it's THE rarest??? Lol But I think it's worthy because it's the most powerful road Impreza that you can obtain, and as a curious fact, it's the unique road Impreza that can reach 500 hp
