    4:40 - it doesn't no, at least not on Western releases of GT3. On an emulator, you can save state on the "congratulations" trophy screen (or the race results screen after an endurance) and the prize car will be random every time you enter the roulette. Resetting this way is much faster than the save-load method. NTSC-J works differently; the roulette RNG is fixed and needs to be manipulated by doing certain things, like entering the options menu a certain amount of times.
    Heat Man already pointed out that you can cancel out the 1st place 10 point bonus by driving to 1st before exiting, and yeah, it's crucial for clearing championships in as few races as possible. In that Test Course race you skipped, for example, you could have pushed the NSX down to 6th, driven to 1st and exited, so the NSX would only get 1 point and nobody would get 10 points. It enables crazy stuff like beating 10 race championships by completing only 4 races. Great for beating Polyphony Digital Cup to get the F094/S without much time commitment. May have also been worth mentioning how you can exit and re-enter the championship for a favourable line-up where the 'rabbit' is 4th or 5th. I know you said you held back on including things for the sake of brevity, but all of this really takes the pain out of prize car collecting and is very useful to know.
    Side note: how come you're using 4:3 display settings while recording in 16:9?

      I'm literally watching your GT3 Ultimate guide as you posted this comment lmao. You make fantastic guides and I wish I watched them earlier. I might do a sequel in the future taking more notes from people like you.
      About the side note though, I legit just forgot about that. I was on my initial hype train about finally recording PS1 and 2 games in 60FPS and I just wanted to record as much footage for my channel as possible. I generally prefer playing GT3 and 4 in 4:3 as I find the 16:9 option really weird, and I couldn't find a way in my Elgato HD60S settings to record in 4:3. So I didn't mind manually adjusting the video screen to make it pleasing each time, but if there's something I'm missing in the Elgato settings to fix the issue I'm more than happy to follow the advice!

      @@Driff97 Ah, oops, hehe, that's a funny coincidence. Thank you, glad you enjoyed the guides! A lot of the stuff in the GT3 guide (particularly reverse shifting and series manipulation strats) was stuff I observed speedrunners like Sough and Viper Racing doing in their any% runs, and I wanted to spread the word since it can be very useful for casual playthroughs. Would be cool to see you elaborate a bit more on it, yeah.
      That's fair about the 4:3 thing by the way, figured I'd mention it when I noticed it. I guess it's a shame that GT3 doesn't have the same view options as the PS1 GT's, meaning the car looks very narrow in 16:9. I know RandomCarGuy records in 4:3 and blurs out the space on both sides, not sure what his recording method is, might be worth looking into. Wonder if it's possible to make a GameShark code to decrease the chase cam distance, like the secret menu in GT4.

    I thought he was gonna mention that you can press X go "select the car" in roulette. If you time it right you can always get the cat you want, this is key because from what i remembered, the game will always pick the car you win depending on the position it starts. However pressing X will speed up the roulette, so i guess you can save those 2s for speed runs

    • @Driff97
      @Driff97  Год назад

      There have been many different theories surrounding that roulette manipulation but from what I've seen from trustworthy resources, none of them have been true. You can only manually manipulate the roulette in the Japanese version of GT3, and it's through selecting the options menu.

    What I love most about prize car collecting in GT3 is being awarded a color variant that you normally can't buy straight from the dealership. And also receiving a more hardcore version of a car that is unlisted, for example the Toyota Sprinter trueno GT Shigeno version.

      I know what you mean! Stuff like the lime green Supra or sonic mica blue Impreza Wagon STI. Those were also a staple in Gran Turismo 1's prize cars and there's just something about those special colored prize cars that hits different.

    This trick also works if you want to bring home ALL 4 cars from the championship, all you need is 4 memory cards. Here's how to do it :
    1. After the penultimate race, save the game on all 4 memory card slots (you need to swap out memory cards as you go), then on the 1st memory card, bring home the most valuable car, then save the game under the 1st slot.
    2. Load up the game on the 2nd memory card slot and bring home the 2nd car. Pro-tip : if you want to save up money in the main save file, buy every possible upgrade under the 2nd slot, then save under it.
    3. Load the 1st slot again, then choose Trade in a garage, then choose 2nd memory card, and then choose the 2nd prize car you won there.
    And tada! Two prize cars in your garage! Repeat this process with your 3rd & 4th memory cards under the 2nd slot.

    I remember doing this as a kid when i found out i could do it to get the formula one car on the speedway endurance tace so I could breeze through all the races. This GT gets pretty difficult especially in the professional races so this trick was basically a life saver for me as a kid to rack up credits. I just wanted to buy the cool cars anyways

  • @Aunini
    @Aunini Год назад +1

    Funny you chose that event/car as the N1 could also actually be won from the Trial Mountain 2 hours, but one of the prize cars that got turned down, the Raybrig NSX, is *only* possible from that event, so possibly the better choice for the first run through 😜

    • @Driff97
      @Driff97  Год назад

      I was initially doing a minimal car purchase playthrough where you only need to buy a Mercedes and Tuscan Speed 6, and the event/car here was what I found my favourite option for preparing for Race of the Red Emblem. I didn't want to gamble 2 hours on an endurance event only to get a car I don't want, and the NSX, as fantastic as it is, doesn't have any specific event required.

    Can you do the endurance races again to win a prize car ?

    • @Driff97
      @Driff97  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'm sure you can. And in case it doesn't work, just save before you start the race.
      I'd say Endurance races are more for getting a good prize car early on regardless of what exactly it is than obtaining a specific car, as all of them can either be bought or won from other leagues. The only Endurance race I'd say is worth trying multiple times is Super Speedway. And even then it's only if you're doing a minimal car purchase challenge and you need the Renault Clio race car.

    Buddy, you dont even know the most important trick. The point at the end of a race a distributed according to the positions of each car at the time that the race was prematurely ended by the player. If the top scoring AI starts the race in the lead, all you have to do is to crash into him to get him in the furthest back, and then when you end the race, the game assumes that everyone finished the race in their current positions, and so that guy ends up getting the least points in that race, excluding yourself of course. By taking advantage of this trick, you can win a 10 race championship by playing through only 6 of them. Even 5 may be possible if you ask me, but I never really gave it much thought. I think I figured this out on my own back when I was little

    • @Driff97
      @Driff97  Год назад

      I do know this trick.....After this video was made. I pinned the comment that pointed this out. This is more for people who's more humble in their driving style and doesn't like being a prick to AI drivers and I hope that some time in the future I'll do a sequel that does this exact thing.
