@@BLCKCSTLS Of course it is. GT1 was in development for over 5 years. It's just a matter of getting that build if it still exists... at around the same time "Fighting Force" released on PS1. I played the hell out of the demo and the full version (mostly coop with my dad, good times) but never found stuff from preview builds which i had seen printed in magazines. Over 20 years later, it finally surfaced and i got my hands on it.
I have a suspicion that Motor Toon GP 1 might be using early GT codes. In fact, there's also a chance that Motor Toon GP R (the bonus mini game you got after beating Motor Toon GP 2) is a beta GT, before this demo. I mean, what are the chances that they worked with the physics engine first, and in the meantime, releases a kart racer using these codes, then adapted it to become the 1st GT?
Hooo awesome news! And wow, didn't expect a new build to be found, that's great. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary, besides the lack of countdown sounds (was it that way in Test Drive? maybe.) and the red FINISH text instead of white (again, i forget how it is in TD). I'll be sure to check it out when i get my hands on it in the future :D Cheers to you being on the lookout
The car colors are so different in this. That blue on the Mitsubishi GTO is neither the Mariana Blue Pearl in the release version or the version in GT2 and the subsequent games after that
This is super interesting to me. I remember reading a preview about GT in CVG back in day, and they claimed the Japanese version was slightly inferior to the PAL release. Watching the video, it's evident that there's some frame drops, especially when going over grass. They also weren't a fan of the jazz music in the Japanese version!
This is soo damb cool bro I sware grand terismo was such an amazing game truly ahead of its time with out grand turismo we would not have fortza or dert or eny uther racing sim
Semi related, is there a version of gran turismo 2 where the 1982 toyota starlet is labeled correctly and the paint colours are accurate? In my pal version its called a turboS despite the kp60 starlet not having a turbo, and the name of the solid green it comes in is called "jetliner silver metallic" guess they made a mistake and the name and colour is actually for the 1987 starlet?
What emulator settings did you use? Honestly the basic line graphics and models of the cars are fantastic in this video lol. If they re-released GT2 with car model graphics exactly like this, and just updated things like the environment and performance, I would buy the shit out of that. I bet it would sell like hotcakes.
@@nattila7713 He didn't use the widescreen hack turned on unfortunately (maybe he's using an actual console, and thus couldn't even use widescreen hack at all). For retail GT you can use widescreen hack as well as 60 FPS code, PGXP for perspective correction, and NegCon for adjustable analog controls.
@@ZX3000GT1 yeah I know. still presenting the game this way is an offence and need punishment. like disabling the guys account would be a good start..... ;)
Maybe datamine this disc? I mean if other games AND modes was kinda locked. Or it was on hard drives of developers but they just put part of code in this version. They cant make license part just in some days. P.s. Yeah. It probably built for presentation on that old built but other code wasn't even put. So no reason to datamine.

Man Gran Turismo was such a vibe.. got me into fusion jazz more than cars
Wait, there's a whole genre of that music?
GT2 and GT4 fusion jazz are the best especially Mr. 4WD and From The East

Thank you for the video Matt. This was unexpected! You always will be the Mentor for me when it comes to Gran Turismo. Keep it up!
The music from GT2's West City was an unexpected thing
AFAIK JP GT1 has early versions of GT2 menu music

I wonder about getting a car in GT mode.
Only Toyota is available. Only 300k credits. But the cheapest car is over 1 million.
That's to softlock you to not progress any further

96 was the year I was born... you're telling me they were making this title back when I was being birthed.
I wasn’t expecting to see this today!
This was released on my 4th birtday. Holy shit I still remember I had a Porsche shaped cake.
I like how in the first Gran Turismo, the tires are more visible.
A quirk I noticed is you’re in a EG civic beating skylines and supras in the race lol.
Right?? I was like, what freaking 98’ Civic hatch is going 150mph😂😂

No way...
When you change the color of a used car, does that mean that the dealership has more than one of each car of a specific model?
maybe
No it means the texture is editable
thx
that flickering text in the menu gave me nausea 😂👀
This is like the genesis of all modern sim racing.
