Thanks for the opportunity to collab, Matt - I've been watching your videos for over a decade now so it's pretty surreal to actually feature in one myself. Keep up the good work 😀 P. S. I think the secret 'End' track is actually used for the final scene in the credits where you see the R33 GT-R LM drive into the sunset, not 100% certain though
There is a reason why the Nismo 400R doesn't have the increase displacement option available. That car already has the stroker version of the RB26DETT engine, the "RB28" as some call it. So, can't get a displacement upgrade since it already has received it. That's the attention to detail and pure love for cars that this franchise always had!
It's honestly ridiculous to think what Gran Turismo accomplished during PS1 and PS2 times. "Head and shoulders" doesn't even begin to list the body parts that GT was actually above all other racing games. They managed to balance freeform driving simulation with a progressive campaign mode really exceptionally.
the 400R had a Stroked (increased displacement) version of the standard 2.6 RB26DETT and in real life that's about as big as an RB26 can go, unless an RB30 block was used
One bit of trivia that wasn't included in the video: I think there are only three cars that have a 7-speed gearbox: The Dodge Viper GTS-R, the Toyota Castrol Supra GT (the version you can buy at the Toyota dealership and the one you can win from the Grand Valley 300km Endurance Race), and the Mitsubishi GTO LM Edition. I wonder why these three gained a 7-speed gearbox while many other cars in the game topped out at 6 speeds.
You can also tune some stock 5-speed cars to have 6-speed gearboxes by putting a super-close ratio gearbox in, I haven´t seen 7-speeds on 6-speeds yet but there might be such as well
@@artoodiitoo The GTO, Supra and Viper can all gain a seventh gear with the super close transmission, though in the case of the Viper the seventh gear is useless. I'm curious if the Corvette can also have a seventh gear.
@@indigomizumi It can, but just like with the Viper, it will be rarely reached, since the Corvettes have very long stock gearing that carries over to the super close transmission. Imprezas also gain a 6th gear with super close ratios too.
Some things I´ve noticed during the decades of playing GT(1); Did you know there are unused graphics for a fuel cauge in the game data? I guess fuel use was planned at some point too. Near the end of production, Arcade Mode was make slightly sped up, which also makes the steering harder. I recommend trying Gran Turismo mode if you get scared of the Arcade Mode handling :D Some tracks are different in Arcade Mode with extra jumps added in them. There is a bug on some of the Demios, if you put stage 3 weight reduction on it, it becomes 100kg lighter than the racing modification, becoming the lightest car in GT 1 and an insane cornering monster. Removed "Vxi" Del Sol can be an opponent in the Arcade Mode in european version. In Arcade Mode, some cars aren't the actual models the car selection screen says, for example R33 Skyline GT-R Vspec is a R33 Skyline GT-R in the post race screens, also NSX Type S Zero is a NSX Type S. I don't know if this is a error in the title texts or if Arcade Mode uses different cars than Gran Turismo mode. There is mention in the game manual of a feature in the Home screen, that you can "display car changes and record times", I guess that unused menu graphic could be like GT4's "Diary". The "End" map might be used for some parts in the ending video, the part where the Nismo GT-R LM races into the sunset looks a bit like that. The European version dealership says "Chrysler" on the map, but in the dealership it´s "The New Dodge" I think it´s also Dodge in Arcade mode I think this might be just a glitch in my disc, but sometimes if I looked back after a race on Grand Valley, the game would freeze for a while, then glitch and colours would go all weird, sometimes even play unused songs from the disc, then the game wouldn´t load the main menu anymore.
The JP Nissan theme can also be heard in GT2's world map menu And the pre/post race music from JP GT1 can be heard as license test select menu in GT4 and test menu in GT2 before you start the test.
One other tiny trivia from the European version is a small spelling mistake. The Starlet Glanza V's description misspells it as the "Granza", not Glanza. This is likely due to the Japanese dialect often blurring together Ls and Rs.
I liked the idea of alternating between Matt and Rofl for the facts, definitely works out well. Really well put together. :) By the way, if you do see this comment Matt, I'm still always interested in doing more voiceover work for ya' if you'd like, just got to shoot me a message.
Gran Tursimo 1 is the darkest game in the series when it comes to songs. if you listen to the track sweet 16 by feeder and listen to the lyrics... you'll understand why.
Fantastic stuff here, guys! There are a couple things here that I didn't know about. I grew up playing the NTSC-J version of the game - since my dad owned an import copy of that as well as an import NTSC-U version. I always preferred the Japanese soundtrack though, so I played that one. I remember one time, back in the day, I played the PAL version at a friend's house and couldn't believe it when I experienced the jumps in Arcade mode.
Man, there a lot of content that would of made the first one better. I love watching what some secrets that the first game had layover out for future titles. I really would like to play the first 4 in my PS2 but I need to take it apart, replace some broken components and clean it up. I really would like to revisit it since I don’t have enough money to buy the newer ones and having to get a new console.
Great collab guys, really enjoyed it. Now, If only i could have the blip, blip, blop menu sound effects in the contemporary games 😅 i miss that about the original game.. and some of the menu music
I somehow always remembered seeing this glitchy C2 Corvette at some point in Gran Turismo. I couldn't recall exactly but I remember that it blew my mind as a kid (I was about 8 when GT came out). Seems like I had that one specific demo disc. Thank you guys!
i thought the video was about all GT games, but more than 20 minutes ONLY from GT1... Amazing. Would be great to see the same concept for each entry, particularly the kinda overlooked GTPSP

Few extra notes on the points covered - the reason that the two del Sols are missing from the US and PAL Honda dealership is because it was rearranged to split the two pages into Honda and Acura, and there isn't enough space on the Honda page for them. PAL kept the US layout instead of reverting back to price order like the Japanese version. There are two other unused cars that you missed, visible in the printed car list for the Test Drive demo: the non-turbo R32 Skyline GTS and R33 Skyline GTS25 Type S. Unlike the Prowler, the demo has physics data for both of these cars, just no models. Neither one made it to the final release, in favour of the turbo GTS-t and GTS25t. From more recent research, the cars with broken 4WD actually behave that way because the torque split is set to 100% front. There's a duplicate Celica in PAL with the issue fixed, but it's not used anywhere other than as an opponent car. Unfortunately, it's set up to use parts from the original Celica, which opponent cars can't do, so it falls back to the performance of the first opponent in the event, a FWD Corona Exiv. The merged and generic Arcade version of the Eunos Roadster is actually what the special colour prize car is based on, instead of any specific trim level. They also have mismatched tyre sizes, a cross between the base 1.8 and the higher-spec cars with larger wheels. It also gets used as an opponent very rarely, which breaks in the same way as the Celica above.
I have to correct something here. I have the European version of Gran Turismo (even as a disc), and the European version also has Dodge. I'm not sure, but I think that only the Japanese version had Chrysler.
Keeping with nostalgic topic of Gran Turismo 1 & 2, I post drum and bass covers on my channel of the soundtrack!! I have more coming soon, I know you'll all enjoy it :)

im sad nobody has ever pointed out the vr-g, and the fact there's no na/turbo upgrades at all for the poor thing, making it the worst car in gran turismo 1
Just got a copy I bought on eBay last Sunday and man, I forgot how fun it was to play this game…… brings me back to Christmas of 98 when I was 11 years old. Favorite part of the game is when selecting the modes in the beginning of the game the noise it makes. funny that gives me nostalgia like a MF 😅 now to get the A licenses
@@MattJ155 that sound too is awesome. yeah man and this time, I’m gonna play through back then I wasn’t very good at it so I couldn’t get that last A license so I gave up hahah.
Thank God that there was a Gran Turismo that didnt use jazz for once. Just listen to the Subaru and Crysler dealership. I would never trade those for any other ost. Oh and the clicking sounds were too better for me
A curiosity that I discovered by accident. The PCSX2 emulator is "compatible" with PSX games, with the new texture replacement feature I tried exporting the textures for a project with Blender, unfortunately the emulator is not 100% compatible with PSX games so the textures are exported incorrectly (yes , I know there is a tool to export textures in RAM but takes a lot of time). However I discovered that the texture that contains all the HUD elements during the race contains two elements that didn't appear until future games. The first is the Turbo which was not added until GT2 and the other is the fuel which was not added until GT4.
Love exit/quick select menu buttons. GT1/2/5. Can't tune but do they still work in GT mode events though if not programmed for entry? Displacement yeah always wondered about that. I did in GT4 some car but forgot. Nismo is tuned so yeah. Didn't know about used cycle. Unused bump for credits sure maybe terrain/cars move like ramps/jumps platformers? Comments in code stuff. How an oversight they'd be too powerful & not street cars GT2&3 some race cars don't work in some events too. Maybe 10k/12k as max price limit they set to sell? Eligible cars for K car cup I had to look up in the manual I love its there for all events. Demio I think in ghe manual overdight as compact cars make sense where few car limits aka GT3 has irs 80/90s cars issue there too. Or some historical cars in GT4 work in K car too. Had no idea about the used car dealer cycle. I mean compaito Test Course 10/11km sure. Yes IA has 2 cars they reflect this in GT3 too for Griffith SSR11. But yeah Viper and Griffith. Region differences (words/visuals/cars/bug fixes/music) make sense, MegabSpeed is Like the Wind nowadays. Reverse always noticed. Spot Race is a smart but cheap prize money single race then the championship format of the other cups. Never again in the series as no need for it anymore. Didn't know about the Not For Sale concept car how to get it but not surprised. But B licence gold right. But did notice it in the dodge dealership. GT makes sense it is yes Grand Touring most people know that. Yep arcade mode rewards. Ah GT2 not selling anywhere yeah I think a bug in GT1 or oversight or felt yeah well better price in other dealers being too sneaky. Still cool though. XD What a great feature. Yeah GT2 MR. Ah the series and remixes/music similarities or not universal till later games. Really good stuff. Knew about the GT4 Power and Speed & 6 arcade mode one. But yeah many mrnu muaic tracks are remixed across GT1-4 of course. Less so 5 & 6 but arcade mode GT6 I always appreciated. Eunos Arcade yeah makes sense nor something you'd easily notice. Ah seasons would have been interesting. Ah prototypes/press kits. :) Nice glitch. Ah dealers hmm. Maybe. I do wonder about the brands in US/EU for sure but due to time limits of release or few cars compared to Japanese cars to out any in used seemed not necessary. Yes the sky box. A the louts placeholder but yes GT2 irs appearance. Ah English options hmm. Interesting detail. Such brands yep. Geand Valley length maybe too long, maybe car HP limits to balance things on fhe track no idea. Maybe it had visual conflicts or just ghe way they designed them they overcalculated/design decision just because it looked weird who knows. Car colour yeah makes sense. Geand Valley does look similar to anotygame or dome other track I forget I know it was to an older racing game or close to a similar time period. Prawn Short/Speedway interesting I guess it lokks like one. I mean I think Laguna looks like a Spyro thief in shape dven if a real track not fictional. Even if it could a badeball glove too/whatever for the sand/hills. Ah wheel hmm. Yeah the 5th quick select menu buttons cool. Who knows. Trade menu? Maybe a suggestion button or something else. I know not a Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift 1&2 kind of talk to people feature. But we can speculate a feature it could be unless in the code some comments about it in the prototypes if anyone has in the hexcode or otherwise of builds. A good mix of your two appearances. :) Roflwaffle making their way.
The 83 and 85 Sprinter Trueno have the body codes reversed. The 83 body appears for the 85. The 85 body appears for the 83. I only noticed this in the American version. One can tell by looking at the vehicles' blinker placement.
Hey Matt could you do a video of GT1 regional event glitches? I talked this about in comments in a another video (TeaKanji Ultimate Guide) in some events if fps drops ai opponent cars turn into "shaky" and "wobbly". Their car really struggles to pick up speed and rpm vibrates.
Ugh, I hate to say this Matt, but despite you being an incredibly precise guy, you should've done the japanese/overseas comparison parts side-by-side. Or split-screen, if you will.🙂
I woud love they make a gt1 and gt2 as the original but with newers cars, and the old ones, same old circuits, new ones aswell and the same pixelated psx pgraphics for cellphone 😂 like a polypony real racing 3 but max lile gt2, like a super port online an bla bla, micro transactions could be money or wheels and such so the corp wont complain 😂
About the naming of difficulties, calling the third difficulty in the European and US versions as Difficult is not true. The European version of the third difficulty is called Hard (just like the Japanese version), while the US version is called Difficult. interestingly, the European demos of Gran Turismo also calls Hard as Difficult. This is something you didn't mentioned in this video. Oh, and how about Chevrolet's branding? While the European and US versions has the updated branding, the European version still has the old Chevrolet branding, but only if you enter the Chevrolet dealership on Gran Turismo mode. And also how about Chrysler/Dodge? Well, this is quite weird. The European version has Chrysler on Gran Turismo mode's main menu, but when you enter it says The New Dodge. On Arcade mode it's even weird, as Chrysler/Dodge doesn't say Chrysler Corporation like the Japanese version does, but instead it says The New Dodge. Another two things you didn't mentioned in this video.

There was at least 1 cut game mode in GT1, with a leftover screen for it in the demo builds, i posted it a while ago on GTPlanet, and it's spoilered at the end of this post ( www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/searching-for-evidence-of-hidden-things-gt1-version.233277/post-12849155 )
DRIFT SCHOOL!
The GT1 master delivering the goods as always 🤠
this is the best crossover in history
Wish you’d do a “Facts You Don’t Know About Soulcalibur III” video
So I had one of the demo discs from Japan that featured a saloon civic in it. Was expecting to see that in the video!
im sad nobody has ever pointed out the vr-g, and the fact there's no na/turbo upgrades at all for the poor thing, making it the worst car in gran turismo 1
4:19 This was mentioned in the ending of GT7
This music makes me want to buy a Toyota
Lets gooooo the collaboration that we didn’t know we needed excellent
Just got a copy I bought on eBay last Sunday and man, I forgot how fun it was to play this game…… brings me back to Christmas of 98 when I was 11 years old. Favorite part of the game is when selecting the modes in the beginning of the game the noise it
makes. funny that gives me nostalgia like a MF 😅 now to get the A licenses
Good to hear you're revisiting the game. :) My favourite noise is when you purchase any part for your car in GT / Simulation Mode.
Oh and the clicking sounds were too better for me
The game is fantastic as well as the movie
This collab is insane☠️
Very interesting stuff, as usual lol! Awesome video guys!!
I also thought the Grand Valley Speedway was named as "Persona 4 Speedway" and "True Story Circuit 1".
@@purwantiallan5089 Haha, nice!
The 400R was bored from the factory, that's why you couldn't give it a displacement increase
Its strange that only 3 cars in the Japanese port of Gran Turismo 1 that have 7 speed gearbox like GTR Concept LM.
I always thought the glitched paint for the Corvette was a special color to unlock :(
What is the name of the font used in Gran Turismo? It is just shown here: 24:42
Great video! Will you do this with other games in the series?
Weird, even though Australia is PAL, that version had Dodge 🤔
Thanks for another GT1 video ❤️
Damn that OST takes me back 🔥
The biggest crossover since endgame
I am pretty sure my EU version of the game also had the dodge dealership instead of chrysler
20:52 Where's Gran Turismo Preview Build V1
i need that game.
Duckstation emu also has texture replacement feature
Roflwaffle and matt
Amazing collab
Nice glitch.
Played both versions but didn't realised the recycled music in later gran turismo
The ultimate crossover, I don't care
The 83 and 85 Sprinter Trueno have the body codes reversed. The 83 body appears for the 85. The 85 body appears for the 83. I only noticed this in the American version. One can tell by looking at the vehicles' blinker placement.
In GT2 yeah, GT1 only features one of the two and it doesn't have a year on it.
GT 1 and 2 need remakes!!!
The reason the game crashes with the wheel shop in gt1 is because the function pointers no longer exist in the game's machine code sadly
The Nismo 400R already has its engine bored out so the option is blanked out.
Two people who both show me useless facts colabing. I think i might tear up
Anyone know what a copy of Gran Turismo 3 A spec Press materials is worth?
this is a sick collab guys ❤
the intro music got me off guard 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Insane stuff guys!
The real question is: who's voice is better for narration? Or it's just a British buff
The King is back 👑
AWESOME. Love these…
Cheers!
\m/, 😊 ,\m/
RAINBOW VETTE!
Ugh, I hate to say this Matt, but despite you being an incredibly precise guy, you should've done the japanese/overseas comparison parts side-by-side. Or split-screen, if you will.🙂
Rofwaffle is a new BK4
Will there be part 2???
Seeing all of the trispoke wheels in the wheel selection reminded me how much the last two GT games actually sucked.
I am convinced these two are the same person just talking slightly differently.
I love this channel
👏👏👏
21:11 wrong spelling of Dodge. It was incorrectly spelled 'DUDGE'
Yay roflwaffle and matt
