I will never forget that feeling of playing T2 for the first time as a kid. Not only it was a great game, making another quality leap in the series but it also made me wonder for what amazing spectacles might be created with better technology. As years went by I realized it's the imagination and courage of creators which manifest greatness, not just capability to utilize hardware.
the tekken franchise is an incredible one, thanks namco. i started with tekken 5 on home systems and tried out all the prior games on arcade after that. i dont think i play the older ones that much but admired tekken 2's physics and secrets. defs an incentive to go back and put some more time on the blast city to play this. also the green thing in the speech bubble is a sort of melon. it's sometimes a powerup in pacman and is referenced in other japanese games like doa2 mamco loves to reference pacman everywhere. even in wangan midnight maximum tune and mario kart arcade gp just to name a few haha. namco don't ever change.
I didnt know alot of these facts, especially the ones about the arcade version. One thing you didnt mention was that Version A re uses the Tekken 1 announcer. Also, the remixed medley is used for the results screen in survival mode.
Wanted to make sure nobody beat me to it. Played it a bunch in the Ridge Racer PSP game, you got to unlock the Rally-X car for use in races, looking straight outta Minecraft. Was awesome.
I first saw T2 on my local TV game show, the camera, the movement and the character made me on awe back then. And of course the first one I play (at PS1 rental cafe) and owned was Tekken 3
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. T2 is, probably, my favourite game, and the more attention it gets the better. Like you, when I play it, I try to do everything and learn everything about it. One thing that still confuses me, though, is the difference between Ver. A and Ver. B arcade releases. I know that in the arcade release Jun and Baek, for some reason, switched places as regular and secret character respectively. Also, fun fact, but there is another tombstone featured in the game, in Kunimitsu's ending. According to a Japanese friend, the inscription on that tombstone spells "Kingu," which is rather weird, given that Kunimitsu and King have no relationship.
I always found it odd Jun fought at Stonehenge in Salisbury, England and prototype Jack fought in a post apocalyptic London, you can see Big Ben in the background but I think Big Ben is only there to make the Windermere music make sense. It's good to see my home country so well represented! Or with prototype jack he might have ripped the top off of Big Ben and transported to a remote beach somewhere, that seems more plausible as there are higher and bigger other structures in London, Big Ben is tiny in comparison. I went to the top of the shard and Big Ben was a tiny speck, like a wall clock!
24:51 Fact 38. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I swear you heard it on the results screen for Time Attack... and maybe Survival. At least one of them anyways. Great video either way! I always love Tekken 2 content ❤️
As my 2nd most played fighting game series, love seeing you videos on Tekken. Ironically, Tekken 2 was also my first Tekken game as I had never even seen or heard of Tekken 1 (But even as a child, I figured there was a first one somewhere and I wouldn't be able to play it until Tekken 5, where you could play the first three games on it). 3:05 This was always an interesting to me and was made even more interesting when I looked into character backstories and read about the various rivalries. Sadly, this doesn't seem to happen anymore after Tekken 5. Would love to see it return. 5:28 Interestingly, Jinpachi was originally one of several characters that were meant to appear in Tekken 3 as there were sound files with the announcer even saying his name. 17:30 This was something I noticed straight away when I played both characters. Its a nice subtle reference to who they are as Devil's has a sort've demonic roar in it where Angel's has a sort of bell effect. Interesting that neither subtle differences can be heard in future installments (Save the console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 1 I believe), you don't hear it either when Kazuya switches to his Devil form and does his laser or when Devil Jin uses his laser. In fact weirdly despite Angel being back in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, she doesn't have that distinct version of that sound effect at all. 28:56 This similarly happens with the Arcade version of Tekken 3, though its instead with all the hidden characters (and it appears to be effectively the first rough version of what would eventually be Julia's individual theme for the Console version)
13:32 Good old cheat section in game magazines for me, but you are right, if i didn't read it in a cheat book i would have likely never unlocked them. I think Kazuya will fight them twice if you fufil the stage 3 requirement too.
If i remember right to hear the remixed melody you had to set a new record in survival or time attack or win a team battle but i will have to double check
Years ago I played TEKKEN 2 arcade version through Tekken 5, not sure how it happened, but I faced Kazuya and he did Devil’s standing stance before fighting him. Not sure if it was a glitch or coincidence but pretty cool.
Wow, I remember finding your tekken videos a long time ago and I used to get hooked watching them. And now this video just popped up on my recommended and didn't even realise it was you at first. 30s into the video I recognise your voice after all these years! Good to see your still making vids!
The thought bubbles are mostly the powerups found in Pac-Man with the exception of a few. Galaga ship is one of the power ups. The flag with an S is from Rally X, also a NAMCO game. Cheers!
That's not a blue ghost it's a vulnerable scared ghost. The bell could also be a reference to wrestling since King is a wrestler. Tree stump could be meaning they are stumped also protection of nature since she is a native American. Anna loves coffee by the way. I know this for a fact. Yes generally most of these are character specific. Also, King in Tekken 1 and 2 is not the same person as King in all the games since. That is probably why they have a missing move.
No one knows about tekken 1 kazuya 3rd costume is the Devil. And another alternate second ending by is. Tekken 1 some people called it platinum costume. Hes evolving in to Devil . Hes full complete in tekken 2 last boss
@@gltchy971 I remember playing Tekken 1 once on ps1 with our neighbors kid when I was a kid myself. Other than that I only played Tekken 1 when it came with Tekken 5 😂
@@jadeDurge1373 Ah yes! Tekken 5 had the arcade versions of Tekken 1-3 ❤🔥. I always preferred The arcade version of Tekken 3, because the stages where better but it lacks Gon and Dr. B lol.

Arranged "Medley" is used for results in Team Battle, Time Attack and Survival Mode.
the easter egg with Kazumi on Heihachis stage blew me away. never once noticed there was writing on the ground

26:19 It was used actually. You can hear it at the results screen of Survival mode in the console version.
Fact 51: this game is nuts
Fact 52: the whole franchise lore is fucking nuts.
Strange how I didn't notice these minor differences, I used to have this game for almost 20 years. Still a great game years later.
5:46 Jinpachi is Kazuya's grandfather and Jin's great-grandfather.

As a diehard fan of Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, I got another fact. Fact 52: TEKKEN 2 still hard game to master.

8:24 I believe that is a honeydew melon.
Only now I realised that in the intro video, when we see the storefront at Jun's segment, the screens are showing endings of the original Tekken.
The T2 medley remix is such a banger
I don't know but I feel like the remixed medley might have been on the Survival leaderboard screen.

Tekken 2 (Japan) had it's own theatre mode

As far as I can tell, all of the thought bubbles are references to other namco games.
Ver. A of Lee's Laser Edge Kick was d+4,4,4 instead of d+4,4,4,4
