My favorite inconsistency in the story is following the Decapri scene. Cammy escapes with Juri on her motorcycle in Brazil, and then next time we see them, they're suddenly in freaking England on that same motorcycle. While it doesn't take too much imagination to assume they got on a boat or something in between those two scene the way it's edited makes it seem like no time has passed and that Juri literally drove to England from Brazil.
Well, SF6 does indeed reveal (via one of Juri’s unlocked flashbacks) that, yeah, Cammy and Juri did pack onto a speedboat in-between Rio and London…. Only to wind up running straight into a thunderstorm Cammy barely navigated them out of. So, there’s that.
Never skip the intros because its quite the roller coaster of nostalgia that leads you to the end where that symphony puts a tear in your eye. Great content as always
The character G was so hyped up and even Capcom stated that he was the "final boss" of Street Fighter 5 but he was only a secret sub boss in the SF5 Arcade version
I'm still mad we were robbed of more with G and his ties to Q, but the consolation prize is that SF6 seems to be building him up. So far there's 1 cameo in Beat Square of Q on the Giant attack poster and 3 references to G so far: -Poster showing he's possibly building an army in Guile's bonus barbershop ending artwork - Santa G with Rashid pulling his sleigh in the Holiday bundle video - A silhouette of G in Hadou Pizza So hopefully he makes it in season 3??
@ShockyD honestly unless they reveal that JP had ties with them all along, I wouldn't be mad if they keep that plot for SF7, so that it can fully take center stage. Worst thing that could happen is trying to cram several plots in one game and not executing them well. We don't want another Necalli. Of course that doesn't mean G cannot be playable in 6,hinting at what he is cooking for 7. even if they don't do it in SF6, they could add Q or G (or create a new one) late into the game with their world tour content just hinting about what is to come.
@@emperormegaman3856 Regarding G, I'd be more intrigued to see what kind of Cross-Over Shenanigans they could have with Terry. You know, with the whole "Power of the Earth" thing.
@@emperormegaman3856speaking of SF7... Do you remember Thorgi's video about "Let's make a sequel: Street Fighter 6" where he said that G and Q were like servants/the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse of a bigger threat that he called Z? What if he was right? I mean, think about this: G debuted in SFV, then Q debuted in SFIII that chronologically takes place after SFV and now we have JP debuting in SF6, doesn't this sound like a COUNTDOWN TO THE APOCALYPSE to you? When SF7 will come out don't you think that there's gonna be a NEW CHARACTER with a single letter for a name? And SF8 is just gonna be this ultimate showdown between all the world warriors and this huge apocalyptic threat that will appear in the game along with JP, Q, G and the character introduced in SF7? This logic checks out if you think about it!
One thing I love about the plot point of Cody becoming mayor of Metro City is that in SF6, damn near everyone in the city seems to know martial arts and street fights seem to be entirely legal. So either Cody got so sick of the criminal behavior in the city that he ordered what appear to be mandatory self defense classes for everyone, he legalized street fighting so people wouldn't go through the same shit he did in his Alpha/4 story, or both.
Thank you for being a historian, people's memories are like goldfish's, Max had to remind people that SFV stunk when fools were saying SFV's Season 1 was better than SF6's!
The rosiest tinted glasses right there, saying SFV had a better launch than SF6 is like a factually incorrect statement when one was instantly beloved and the other stunk so hard it ruined the reputation of the game for years
The character selection of the base roster of 5 with the Season 1 inclusions is better compared to SF6. The problem is that SF5 implemented its characters awfully while SF6 implemented its characters amazingly.
Honestly, the art in the storymode was probably my favourite thing about the game. It was actually the saving grace for me at release. "Wow, this game is barebone as shit...but at least the storymode has cool art." Thats honestly my memory of the launch. And when i got an updated version later with new characters, my first stop was the storymode, to see more of those artworks. Yeah, they look sketchy...but to me that looked like a choice, not rushed. And i really like that kind of artstyle.
Same. I do get the criticism/praise with the art of this story mode (since Bengus does deserve props for getting all this art so quick) doesn't look as good as other Bengus drawings but IMO I always saw it as storyboard drawings or alike as well as the MvC2 ending visuals.
@dnmstarsi Bengus is probably my favorite capcom artist. If he can make really decent art for a game that's barebones in launch, then he can probably do anything.
@@Sonicman4155 Same. I still have fondness for Akiman and Kinu Nishimura's artwork but Bengus (as well as Kinu-sensei) kinda gave Capcom their art style for lack of a better word.

The whole Sakura wanting to be a mom didn't throw me off too much because I thought it was a callback to her ending in Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter.
Love how the modern Street Fighter story for some characters are inspired by their endings from the Marvel crossover games. Sakura being a mom and even Ken's son debuting in X-Men vs Street Fighter.
@@tsuneomccormick115hell they even canonized Dan’s sister from his parody ending in Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, she runs the in-game shop in V and works in the Battle Hub in 6

I loved this video, as someone who's new to SF and the FGC as a whole. I loved seeing the history and build up to SF6 which is the first FG I took seriously and one of my favorite games. Can't wait for the next part.
I don’t know if you’re into watching the competitive side of SF6, which has been hype already, but despite all the turmoil V had, it still had a lot of great competitive moments, and that’s thanks not only to Capcom pushing it, but the amazing players that kept things alive.

One good thing about Street Fighter 5 was Gill returning. Gill had never been in any other Street Fighter series other than Street Fighter 3. He didn't even appear in Street Fighter 4.
SFV is the best sf game. It didn't start as a good game but it had solid foundations. Today it's by far the best one yet. Roster, OST, single player content. The best out of any sf
Honestly I think you can do the whole female stalker angle right by making a completely new character. Hell it would be extremely funny if the character was stalking Blanka or Dan. Imagine how Dan would feel, believing that he’s found a new fan and apprentice to train. Only to realize that this girl is absolutely creepy and obsessed with him to the point that Dan just wants her to go away. Unfortunately she’s extremely dense and can’t take a hint so Dan is trying everything in his power for her to no longer find or see him. Of course over the series if the character comes back. I would like the character to eventually mature and respect Dan as she gets older.
I just realized I gave the video a like before it even came out, but that’s how sure I am this will be a banger. 😎 Edit: This was indeed a banger, thank you for the hard work. I love watching these retrospectives as someone who missed out on the history for the most part. I’m getting some much needed context about the state of the scene through the eyes of someone who lived it. I hope one day you’ll cover Tekken as well! 😊
Speaking of the costumes and targeting people's horniness, you cannot convince me that SFV didn't start an entire trend of making fan service out of male characters with Hot Ryu. He even became Ryu's default in SFVI
I would agree more if the scale of the sexualization wasn't so extreme. "Hot Ryu" is just Ryu with a beard and his shirt off while the female characters get dozens of skimpy bikinis and other fetish costumes, sexualized cinematics and being sexual as a part of their characters even while male characters just get to be kinda handsome. as someone with extensive knowledge in sexualizing men, no none of these games ever done a good job with male fan service lmao. fan service isn't just the character looking attractive. just look at how the camera treats Laura and try comparing that to any male character and the difference is night and day. not saying you cant have fan service, i like it personally but its pretty weak for anyone who isn't straight
3:12 No, that message to herself deal wasn't an attempt at a reboot, that was a closed time loop. The omens that Alpha Rose got from SFV Rose was what moved her to act in Alpha, leading to her getting possessed by M. Bison.
Hey Thorgi, I watched the first 5 parts in the hospital recovering from an emergency appendectomy. Became a street fighter fan over the course of that time and you managed to help me take my mind off all the pain I had at the time Having some recovered, I’m so excited to watch one of these when I’m totally feeling better. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE WORK YOU PUT INTO THIS
One thing Street Fighter V definitely did right was bringing back as many Street Fighter III characters as it did. I was over the moon when I learnt Oro was in the game.
Hello Thorgi or Thorgi's wife, thanks for finally uploading the next episode of the SF retrospective, i was particularly looking forward to you talking about this because so far this my favorite SF game roster-wise along with USF4. Before i can watch the video I'll let you on something that copied from the SF wiki, i don't know if you will talk about it in this video but i hope you understand It: "Ed appears to bear inspiration from SNK fighter Rock Howard, the lead character in Fatal Fury: Wolves sub-series. Along with sharing origins stemming from their series' main antagonists, Rock was depicted in his ending to a morally ambiguous path of helping his uncle Kain R. Heinlein start a new questionable enterprise in the city of Second Southtown within Fatal Fury canon. His neutral taunt in Street Fighter 6 dwelves further the similarity, making Psycho Power flow out of his arm akin to Rock's iconic ki wings. Additionally, Ed may also be inspired from Bandai Namco fighter Steve Fox, due to being boxers whose past lives were once being experimented to be potential vessels of antagonistic powers like Psycho Power and Devil Gene, respectively. Ed may also represent the further nearing of a New Generation much like Rock and Alex, as he takes on his fighting style after Balrog and M. Bison, and is quite young." So, as you can see, you weren't too far off of turning Ed into Geese Howard in your "Let's make a sequel - Street Fighter 6" video. They are going for a Geese's son angle, not Geese himself. I hope that i was useful to you
This was an amazing watch. I worked a 12 hour night shift from 8pm-8am tonight and watching this vid off and on and on breaks really helped. Thanks sir!
You know what I love this channel I love that he does some really good history of video games especially fighting games can't wait till he does mortal Kombat that might be the next one
To be fair, seeing how MK and Tekken have quite the Heavy Lore, there's a chance he does the same thing with the Blazeblue retrospective : a Video for the making off of the series, and a video dedicated to the Lore of it.
What I'm getting from this is that after their big fight, Capcom and SNK have been leeching off each other to keep themselves alive for as long as possible.
The saddest thing and about a Shadow's Fall is that before Sf5 release there was a comic called Street Fighter Unlimited and its story is great and way better than what we got, Street Fighters done great story modes before, the alpha games have had really great story telling and the Udon comics are incredible. But a Shadow Falls just felt rushed
Just finished the retrospective. I've only heard a bit about the struggles you had to release this episode, and I just wanted to say, thanks for all of the hard work you've put into your videos. This channel, along with Triple KO, have both been my go-to channels recently, and it's honestly helped me get through a tough year that I've had so far. Just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work.
It's so funny how in such a restrictive game that has a hands on approach to practically any combo in it, Dan of all characters had a day 1 infinite that was apparently pretty easy to execute lmao.
3:06:08 I really hate to be that guy but Lasengle only PUBLISHED Melty Blood: Type Lumina, the team that actually developed the game was French-Bread (the same guys who developed Under Night and the original Melty Blood). If anything he took credit for acting like he brought back Melty Blood when it got nominated for Best Fighting Game at TGA 2021
Will say though, it does make the baffling DLC decisions make so much more sense. Even without Nasu in the equation, if Ono was somehow overseeing Lumina in some capacity, then I can completely believe that he would screw the Tsukihime fans over to force in a bunch of Fate characters instead, in their Tsukihime fighting game. Yeah no I can't imagine his involvement being a positive for French Bread.
Just wanted to say - I watched your entire retrospective after this video popped up in my feed, and man... The vibes, the nostalgia you conveyed and most of all the passion for fighting games got me to buy Street Fighter 6 and hop in to learn it proper after only mashing buttons on SF2: World Warrior back on my SNES when I was a wee lad. Amazing work on all the research, editing and recording of B-roll you went through with this. Always nice to see people putting in effort for the topics they are passionate about - makes me feel like less of a weirdo when I talk my friends' ears off about the stuff I love seeing how endearing projects like these are
For the juggernaut it is, Street Fighter's development has had to overcome a lot of longshots and last minute hurdles over the years. It's amazing how they can make it happen, and you can make your videos happen with as much depth as they have! You just never know what's going on behind the screen. Thanks!
I will appreciate Street Fighter 5 for having a nearly awesome roster especially for all the fan favorites coming back and despite the rocky foundation and development it's definitely an accomplishment. Thank you Thorgi, for covering the fighting game content, especially KOF. Take care of yourself and others
Thank you Thorgi, not only for your hard work and dedication in getting this video out, but for explaining in detail how the inputs worked in the game. I thought I was going crazy back then when I would randomly super. But no it wasn't just me 🤣
My relationship with this game is complicated, I am fully aware of all the issues with this game, but can't help but feel nostalgic for it as this was the game that got me into the FGC proper. It was at EVO 2016, I went with a friend for Smash, but wound up watching everything I could, culminating in the SFV Top 8 at the Mandalay Bay Arena, with LI Joe's legendary run, from that moment on, I was hooked (although I didn't actually put in the effort to get goodish at any fighting game until Strive in 2021, when I actually had friends to play with and learn from). So I'll always be thankful for it, it was the domino that led me to meet a lot of friends and get better than I ever thought I would be able to
Thank you, Thorgi. Especially for pointing out how unfriendly this game was for casuals. I was casual that came in with Street Fighter 4, and when I saw SFV I went to Tekken 7.
Three and a half hours of a documentary on Street Fighter V?! And it was amazing. Thanks Thorgi! It flew by! Really insightful, interesting and funny! Love your videos and this was a gem ❤
Thorgi, I love these retrospectives, I love driving home from work, from locals, from our monthly bracket and your retrospectives come up ❤️ all the research and time spent on these is probably massive and I'm 100% sure everybody is thankful and enjoys every one of these retrospectives 🎉
Really enjoyed the video and effort that went in is apparent. Despite ALL of its many problems SF5 will probably always be my favorite fighting game. Introduced me to the genre as a lad and I’ve never stopped since. Need my homie Birdie to make a comeback some day.
The accidental use of super moves was one of the things that pushed me away from the game the most, but I thought it was just me being bad! After all these years, to find that not only more people had this problem, but that it also does have a logical reason to why it happens, is amazing! Thank you so much for explaining all that stuff about negative edge and buffering. As a super casual fighting game player, I would never have realized any of that.
Thorgi. My dude. THANK YOU for talking about that accidental super thing. That has annoyed me to no end and I notice it's not really happening in SF6. Magnificent video! I was cleaning the apartment for 3 1/2 hours and barely noticed because I was entertained the whole time.
I've been making a personal playlist of retrospectives for various media (games, movies, tv series, comics etc) but I have to say yours are always some of my favourites and I always eagerly await your next one. This whole series has been probably my favourite from you and I'm really looking forward to the finale.
Thanks, Thorgi. This retrospective series is theo me that got me interested in your channel in the first place. You've been doing some excellent work with it! I enjoy your others too, and create the roster is always very enjoyable.
36:28 all I can think of now is a yakuza style meeting with yoshinori ono, katsuhiro harada, and ed boon talking then the SNK president tries to join but is forced out only to later find out how bad it went and is secretly thanking god that he was thrown out of that meeting
Three and a half hours just for talking about Street Fighter 5! Amazing video as always Throgi & can't wait to see you finally cover Street Fighter 6 after all this time
This was one of the biggest rollercoasters of a SF Retrospective I've ever seen. Knew SFV had it's problems, but I never knew it was *THIS* insane of a journey... 3:06:09-3:06:44 I'm sorry, not only did this Blanka Dude Ono revive Street Fighter, but he's also the madlad that revived Melty Blood and gave us Type Lumina?! I care not for the controversy of this man, this dude is the GOAT in my eyes for this!
The thing with F.A.N.G. is that his character design is actually _really_ good, it's just that his writing is so.... you know. If he carried himself with dignity, he could very easily be the intimidating villain the story pretends he is
The same thing with Abigail. The Udon comic has him as a villain and an intimidating one at that. His size and that creepy grin of his gives him a real sense of power.
@@wdcain1 Abigail is particularly disappointing because he had the potential to fill the unique spot of comic relief that can still be taken seriously when push comes to shove. But instead, they just gave him an extra chromosome, told him he was a "twukk", and called it a day. Because that's _way_ easier than having to write a comedic character ioì, much less one who you want to root for. Well... one you want to root for for reasons other than Make-A-Wish-esque pity.
@@Just.Kidding Udon has been making Street Fighter comics for over a decade. The last year they celebrated their 100th issue. They're apparently really popular. Decapre only made it into the roster because she had a big role in the comics.
Y'know now that we're a year into SF6, it really set in how much of a herculean task it must've been to remedy SFV's issues when SF6, which is still in a pretty vanilla state, has seen an infinitely more successful reception
Yeah! After so many months the 6th part of the Street Fighter Retrospective is out. I was prepared for this part to be the finale, but from how much stuff there is to cover about SFV I'm okay with SFV getting its own video. And that means SF6 will get its own part meaning it will have a lot more breathing room. From checking his Twitter I was gob-smacked to find out this video is going to be THREE AND A HALF HOURS long! That makes it longer than Part 4 of his KOF retrospective at three hours and thirteen minutes. Holy cow! Thorgi must a LOT of thoughts about the entirety of SFV and a LOT to talk about! This one for now will be the longest video we've seen on his channel yet.
I think the weird thing about Ed is that he looks different from the story mode to his official appearance, I guess you could say he aged a bit or something. I also don’t think Sheng Long would’ve stayed the way he had been depicted in joke articles, who knows what kind of legal troubles could have arisen from that since it’s not technically their character? I don’t hate this design either, anyways you did already get Sheng Long, Gouken doesn’t look too far off the inspirations, he’s just more muscular, elements of Sheng Long’s design of a joke fighting character can also be seen in Sean. Great video anyways, if you’ve got anything else you wanna clarify about these two leave a reply!
Oh looks like the same thing I said about with Ed, happened with Gill, we could see him through Kolin’s eyeball, I guess this game REALLY didn’t know what some characters would look like until they had to actually make them a character past random story mode appearances
Thank you Thorgi and your wonderful wife for giving this amazing Street Fighter V documentary. I remember the high point of Arcade Edition's trailer showing off the Season 3 cast with how cool that season really was. Cody, Blanka, Sakura, Sagat, and especially G and even Falke were all such cool additions after such an awfully structured Season 2 and a good Season 1 that felt like it should have been a part of the base game.
As much as I greatly enjoy Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, to this day my worst gaming purchase was the $100 special edition of Street Fighter 5 after realizing the complete lack of single player content. Although that Ryu statue is pretty cool.
Throughly enjoy the work you do here, Thorgi. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to bring us these informative and entertaining retrospectives.
yes hi, I don't know why but the only thing I felt strong enough to respond to in this video was the Sakura design. I'm an animator, I have experience and knowledge with the production of character design and that sorta thing. Any creative project that was well made has at least 20 versions of itself that are awful. It just happens. That Sakura character design is just one of them.
You're a hero for getting this out the way you did! I hate to even ask anything of you, but hearing you go in on this game's story for an hour sounds like the best thing ever lol.
This video is a true labor of love. I'd heard from other you tubers that the launch of this game had problems but I had no idea it went so deep and then ended up being halfway decent.
@@joedatius Because it left room to expand and showcase an other side of Akuma that frankly is under showcased within the games, his capability for patience and softness, because outside of interactions with other fighters and his need to fight to the death, he is cold, but not evil. They could do that while not throwing away the aspects of his character that are popular, such as his ruthlessness (if you read the full document, he would put the child to sleep in his v trigger state and unleash his full power letting him be the akuma we know.) It also opened up a potential way to have Akuma have a pupil that followed more in his footsteps, now that Ryu had established, he would never be like Akuma I can understand why some people would dislike it, the overabundance of "villains" nowadays being redeemed or having secret good sides or whatever. I just think it's pretty in line with what's established for his character, and it wouldn't hurt since we already have Bison and Gill for unabashedly evil.
The problem with the artsyle is that there kind of isn't one. They took SF4, but removed the calligraphy brush, crosshatching, and the entire style in general. What they have left in terms of style is just every character being a brick shithouse, which kills character variety. Ryu alone is seriously as big, if not bigger than Zangief was in SFII.

While it doesn't take too much imagination to assume they got on a boat or something in between those two scene the way it's edited makes it seem like no time has passed and that Juri literally drove to
England from Brazil.
That's not a plothole. Using the Feng-Shui engine, you can travel on motorcycle between Brazil and England. That's common knowledge.
That to the Thorgi household to not make us wait one more week. TODAY IS THE DAY
The character G was so hyped up and even Capcom stated that he was the "final boss" of Street Fighter 5 but he was only a secret sub boss in the SF5 Arcade version
I'm still mad we were robbed of more with G and his ties to Q, but the consolation prize is that SF6 seems to be building him up. So far there's 1 cameo in Beat Square of Q on the Giant attack poster and 3 references to G so far:
-Poster showing he's possibly building an army in Guile's bonus barbershop ending artwork
- Santa G with Rashid pulling his sleigh in the Holiday bundle video
- A silhouette of G in Hadou Pizza
So hopefully he makes it in season 3??

@@ThiefofRPGistheWanderingSoul lmao no. SFV characters both look bad and play bad there is no comparison. ffs you had to buy GUILE.
@@aleeceb4993 agreed. The art in the story mode is easily the best part of the game 👍

Man, brings me back.
Nicalli was made to represent this game, showed up and looked tough, then spent his entire story jobbing over and over. Sounds about right.

“Did SF5 have so much content or did something go wrong?”

Thorgi please it’s not Holloween yet😂
"we love fighting games, even though we're bad at them!" I LOVE this motto. I'm not that good at FGs, but I absolutely love the community, games, stories, and characters. Thank you for having a more casual perspective channel! Love your videos, and thank you for your hard work on them!
An Aztec monster that hunts strong warriors? I guess Laura wasn't the only character they got from Harada
Also rashid
One good thing about Street Fighter 5 was Gill returning. Gill had never been in any other Street Fighter series other than Street Fighter 3. He didn't even appear in Street Fighter 4.
SFV is the best sf game. It didn't start as a good game but it had solid foundations. Today it's by far the best one yet.
Roster, OST, single player content. The best out of any sf
Honey, wake up, new Thorgi retrospective just dropped
"yes dear..."
Edit: This was indeed a banger, thank you for the hard work.
It wasn't. Fighting games in general have been sexualizing men better than other genres for a while. Soul Calibur is a bisexual's dream, for example.
Outstanding video thorgi. Damn this video is GOATed. And a big thank you to you and your wife. Thank You both and keep up the excellent work.
3:12 No, that message to herself deal wasn't an attempt at a reboot, that was a closed time loop. The omens that Alpha Rose got from SFV Rose was what moved her to act in Alpha, leading to her getting possessed by M. Bison.
We staying up late to see this one Eurobros
1am here in Ireland, watching the video.
one fun fact about the story mode: the CFN profile for Darun Mister reveals that he is the friend from India that Zangief gave his chess piece to.
Hey Thorgi, I watched the first 5 parts in the hospital recovering from an emergency appendectomy. Became a street fighter fan over the course of that time and you managed to help me take my mind off all the pain I had at the time
Having some recovered, I’m so excited to watch one of these when I’m totally feeling better.
Bison, and is quite young."
So, as you can see, you weren't too far off of turning Ed into Geese Howard in your "Let's make a sequel - Street Fighter 6" video. They are going for a Geese's son angle, not Geese himself. I hope that i was useful to you
I always thought Ed seemed like Iori Yagami as a blond boxer. Never imagined he'd be more like Rock instead. Nice interpretation!
This was an amazing watch. I worked a 12 hour night shift from 8pm-8am tonight and watching this vid off and on and on breaks really helped. Thanks sir!

@@Thewhateverchannel-z5y Tekken with has an interesting history but mortal Kombat is be interesting as well
To be fair, seeing how MK and Tekken have quite the Heavy Lore, there's a chance he does the same thing with the Blazeblue retrospective : a Video for the making off of the series, and a video dedicated to the Lore of it.
What I'm getting from this is that after their big fight, Capcom and SNK have been leeching off each other to keep themselves alive for as long as possible.
Finally arrived home to watch this puppy, hopefully he mentions Urien at least one time 🗣️
SSS class retrospective journey. Another great video in the series.
I suck at words so I’m just gonna say that I love this channel and I eagerly look forward to each new video
Just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work.
releasing this on the day i go out to tuscon. im gonna be thuroughly exited
It's so funny how in such a restrictive game that has a hands on approach to practically any combo in it, Dan of all characters had a day 1 infinite that was apparently pretty easy to execute lmao.
I was going to restart watching sf retrospective again, then I saw you just dropped part 6. You're the best!!!
Yooo, thanks thorgi for making this amazing content, kudos to your wife for finishing the video
That cruise ship analogy is the best way I can describe the entire Street Fighter V experience. Very well said. Love your videos, Thorgi!
Thanks!
Max said it best when he said it was the McDonalds of fighting games.
Does that make Ryu the Big Mac of the game?

So I'll always be thankful for it, it was the domino that led me to meet a lot of friends and get better than I ever thought I would be able to
nothing wrong with enjoying a flawed game
Thank you, Thorgi. Especially for pointing out how unfriendly this game was for casuals. I was casual that came in with Street Fighter 4, and when I saw SFV I went to Tekken 7.
Three and a half hours of a documentary on Street Fighter V?!
And it was amazing. Thanks Thorgi! It flew by! Really insightful, interesting and funny! Love your videos and this was a gem ❤
Should've been FOUR and a half hours but I can respect not covering A Shadow Falls here.
I was cleaning the apartment for 3 1/2 hours and barely noticed because I was entertained the whole time.
thorgi, i beg of you, please get some rest when this is all over. you can just hybernate or something, we won't be upset.
You know, I actually thought you were going to cover both Street Fighter V and Street Fighter 6 together for this video.

@@wdcain1 The Udon comic sounds interesting though, what's that?
@@Just.Kidding Udon has been making Street Fighter comics for over a decade. The last year they celebrated their 100th issue. They're apparently really popular. Decapre only made it into the roster because she had a big role in the comics.
Y'know now that we're a year into SF6, it really set in how much of a herculean task it must've been to remedy SFV's issues when SF6, which is still in a pretty vanilla state, has seen an infinitely more successful reception
Dude I would love to see a series like this for tekken, your retrospectives are amazing !
This is the most insane retrospective series ever. It's so huge you could do a retrospective on it itself.
I truly appreciate the work you put into these retrospectives. These things really need to be properly documented.
Throughly enjoy the work you do here, Thorgi. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to bring us these informative and entertaining retrospectives.
I'm very glad that Thorgi has made this series, it has sparked an interest in street fighter which I wouldn't have had otherwise.
yes hi, I don't know why but the only thing I felt strong enough to respond to in this video was the Sakura design.
Thank you for another episode Thorgi, this Street Fighter retrospective has been a BLAST to watch, hope YOU stay safe out there

This video is a true labor of love. I'd heard from other you tubers that the launch of this game had problems but I had no idea it went so deep and then ended up being halfway decent.
“Some of these were going to be so much worse”
Proceeds to talk about the coolest version of Akuma I’ve ever heard of
cool how? Akuma is a demon of battle not a babysitter.
@@joedatius Because it left room to expand and showcase an other side of Akuma that frankly is under showcased within the games, his capability for patience and softness, because outside of interactions with other fighters and his need to fight to the death, he is cold, but not evil. They could do that while not throwing away the aspects of his character that are popular, such as his ruthlessness (if you read the full document, he would put the child to sleep in his v trigger state and unleash his full power letting him be the akuma we know.)
It also opened up a potential way to have Akuma have a pupil that followed more in his footsteps, now that Ryu had established, he would never be like Akuma
I can understand why some people would dislike it, the overabundance of "villains" nowadays being redeemed or having secret good sides or whatever. I just think it's pretty in line with what's established for his character, and it wouldn't hurt since we already have Bison and Gill for unabashedly evil.
Great SF retrospective series, Thorgi. Next series: PLEASE do Mortal Kombat, thank you
Would definitely watch an entire video of you reviewing the story mode for sfv. I hope this happens lol
He said that he was gonna upload this a week after this is up...
