  • The widow of murdered Garry Newlove has spoken out about the terror of living as a target of anti-social behaviour. Baroness Newlove wants the Government to do more for victims of anti-social behaviour who are suffering a “daily torment of harassment, intimidation, or vandalism” and are “living in constant fear in their own homes”.
Baroness Newlove's husband, Garry, was murdered outside their home in Cheshire in 2007 after he confronted a gang of drunken youths who were defacing his wife’s car. They kicked him to death in front of his daughters. She believes that victims are being denied access to specialist support, with anti-social behaviour often “downplayed by police”. Helen Newlove wants the Victims and Prisoners Bill to include a “trigger” system that will mean if someone reports three consecutive anti-social behaviour incidents to local authorities, it will unlock access to victim support services under the Victims’ Code.

It's happened twice in my life the second time far worse, I lived next door to a family of nightmares, had my door broken, bins turned over, verbal harassment coming and going to my own home, my back garden being invaded and these were juveniles totally unsupervised and out of control. Was told by housing to keep a diary! Nothing was done and I left the area, the nightmare families still in situ in both cases. Obviously not on the same level as Gary Newlove - but it ruins and upturns lives so much. Just wrong and nothing is done.

I m so sorry you went through that..although mine is a bit different in that it wasn't our neighbours more so large groups causing all sorts of grief literally in front of our home it was and is still distressing to say the least. We are trying to move away as it has affected my sister and I mental health .Hope you're OK now.

i've got a number of complaints on the go against the police for intimidation, bullying, falsifying statements, disposing of evidence etc, most conversations and phone calls recorded by myself(police did not know), also got complaints with ICO for breach of data by police and more than once, police sergeant decided to work with suspect who was a drug user/dealer,suspect recorded their conversations so police sergeant could not allow suspect to be prosecuted🤬

Who are these people? The ones who do this? Something major being left unsaid here??? Why aren’t the police intervening?

Werid how the British suddenly became so anti social.

There is nothing edifying or useful here. What is “anti social” behavior? Let’s be specific as to the behavior complained of, and it better be something more than getting yelled at by a neighbor through a window. What a waste of time. Absolute nonsense

Antisocial behaviour can have devastating affects on a person. I wish @golfer would bear this in mind
