Sorry but that isn't what the report says, It says there was no evidence it improved the quality of life of the patient when taking them, She also said there was no evidence of potential harms , So what your saying is not factually true because there is no studies that show puberty do cause harm, that what it says in the report, she dismissed 50 studies showing it did help with quality of life, But they are doing a study now , so some children who partake in that study and will get puberty blockers.

To be fair everything you listed includes life altering chemicals (or near permanent body modification in case of tattoos). And we know those substances to be dangerous regardless of age. The case of gender affirming care is the opposite. It improves quality of life in adults and it can improve quality of life in many adolescent patients.

Sad to reflect that the only winners in this are going to be the lawyers.
And all the gender confused kids that will not be delivered to these appalling activists. Many will be saved from terrible life changing experiments, and left to simply grow out of their confused phase as we know the vast majority do.
But if it was wrong treatment, wrong schooling, wrong parental advice, wrongful use for far reaching celebrity platforms or influencers. Then that should carry with it damages.
Some detransitioners have had their lives ruined by this. I mean no more sexual pleasure, urinary tract infections, constant pain, impossible to very difficult to now find a life partner in light of the above and potential infertility, or now only very expensive methods to now have their own children.
Theres been a lot of bad advice and damage done, its been irresponsible and it should carry with it damages.
If theres no punative fines to pay. Then theres no deterent of it ever happening again. So yeah I think people sewing this bad advice should never be allowed to work in healthcare in any capacity, because they really were not working in the best interests of their patients.
Of all the terrible things that have happened throughout history im actually embarrassed in the current day and age with the amount of technology and information we have that we took all of this and just became ignorant. I can argue or understand just about any general topic in good faith. I don’t feel sorry for the children but the parents some of them don’t even understand the whole process. I’m gay myself from a Muslim background and I never came out I’m still in the closet. I’m in the closet because I love my mum and I don’t want her to go insane she is deeply religious and I know how she feels about homosexuality she will probably loose friends things will never be the same for her I would rather stay in the closet so my mum can have a functioning life rather then going insane and when I tell you I’m happy I really mean it because I’m ready to sacrifice for the person I love. We don’t let children buy cigarettes alcohol how can we allow them to decide about their gender at such young age.

This is important because it also gives laypeople something to point to when questioning ideology without having to feel like a bigot. All this talk of losing the "expertise" of those with years working with trans children misses the fact that these distressed children need clinicians who will first see them as individual human beings, not trans avatars born in the wrong body. A bunch of idealogues working in medicine became SO CERTAIN of one insufficiently-tested protocol which centered around an insufficiently defined or evidenced concept, gender, and another suspect theory coming out of Psychology (which has a long history of pathologizing natural human variation), so that they were unable to recognize an entirely new cohort of mentally distressed children, which differ from the earlier group in very important and varied ways.
There's a great deal of expertise and evidence. Cass decided only very specific studies qualified.
People might have been fleeing Tavistock because they had thousands of patients but only the capacity for a few dozen.
It's amazing how Cass can say there's not enough evidence to support use of puberty blockers yet concludes it's harmful. And their reasons have _nothing_ to do with effectiveness or safety.

That's like saying Tylenol is unsafe for an aching broken arm because it wasn't tested for that condition.
This girl says that speaking to someone wouldve helped but what she means is someone who wouldve affirmed her. They have an expectation of what they want from medical professionals and if they dont get it from one they move on to look for one that will give them what they want.
Her and her mother likely wouldve not accepted help or advice from a doctor who said "Im not sure you are trans, I think maybe your autism/body dysmorphia/past trauma/whatever else is the cause of your distress. Lets explore that." They probably wouldve called them 'transphobic' or reported them for being 'non affirming.'
This is a huge issue I saw in my brief time working in CAMHS, particularly in girls with ASD. So many had their anxiety around puberty combined with their ASD interpreted by their parents as body dysmorphia and then nothing else mattered
I'm gay and just want to remind everyone that there is NO SUCH THING as a gay or trans child. Though statistically rare, there will be some children who MAY grow up to be gay or trans but acting on either should only be done as an adult. I know some people will say "I knew when I was a child" but "knowing" doesn't mean "doing" - kids don't need a "sexual orientation" and they certainly don't need to be medicalized to "affirm" something they feel.

From the website of Dr Aidan Kelly and his private clinic, their team consists mostly of clinical psychologist, and only one psychiatrist. There is no paediatrician ,endocrinologist or surgeon to safeguard the children's physical health. Who will be responsible for explaining and follow up the side effects of the medications or surgery?
Teach kids to love selves, as they are - no pain of surgery or pill needed.
See that takes real effort and mental fortitude, which that 'mother' seems to lack. Shame on the west for letting this happen to it's children.

One thing the Cass Review has proven is that we should stop referring to these kids as 'trans', use 'gender questioning' maybe. A 14 yo 'trans' kid may change their mind in 6 months if left alone medically and psychologically. Counseling is fine but not counseling that only 'affirms.' As this scandal is studied in coming years, we'll likely see that the manipulation of language and meaning had a lot to do with it.
This movement has appropriated the 'conversion therapy' issue from the LGB movement. Changing the meaning and weaponizing it to go after any dissenters.
The cass review is heavily flawed, with many untrue statements, and also many statements that have been retracted by the people who said them. How about we trust children, I'm a 15 year old trans kid and have know for 2 years, I'm not questioning my gender, I know it, so I think children should be more trusted, especially on a topic where experience grants way more knowledge that research.

In contrast, Dr David Bell presents a more thoughtful response eg the role of the unchecked 'affirmation' as a Human Rights directive absent of any clinical consideration - children self diagnosing and Doctors handing out hormone blockers like sweets or candy.
Bell took issue with Tavistock "fast tracking" some children. They weren't following the rules and that WAS a problem.
Nothing Bell said changes the effectiveness or safety of puberty blockers.
Meanwhile EVERYONE agrees these children (even those that desist) need of help.

Ideally I would try to find someone who has experienced what they are explaining, eg; if I wanted to learn about menopause I'd look to a doctor who had experienced menopause.

When I recently got a puppy, my vet said that the latest research said that early spaying and neutering causes problems with bones and joints. Now I'm wondering if people are so different.

So we need to stop treating central precocious puberty. That's puberty blockers in use since 1980.
And we need to stop giving TEEN girls breast augmentation / reduction and rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and TEEN boys mastectomies. Those surgeries _literally_ occur about 100,000 times more often than trans surgeries. And all they require is 1 parent to agree.
And we need to stop giving girls birth control pills until they're 18.

I can only speculate that is was because of their own stance which shows how they themselves participate in the unwillingness to have a adult conversation about it by not letting the two doctor’s respond however briefly that would’ve been at times. Common sense at last. Puberty blockers should of never been prescribed to these children, they are too young to make an informed choice and many of them have been influenced by social media.
As if private practices are better and the argument of being in line with the NHS ans Cass makes the practice better equiped to deal with children.

The idea that we would mess with the development and health of children who's brains aren't even fully developed is another level of ridiculous. Children can barely keep their own ideas consistent, there is no way they can be trusted to make a serious decision like changing their gender during puberty.
Most of these kids will grow out of it, they're mostly influenced by what they're seeing online and they're desperate to try and carve out their own identity. If they don't grow out of it by the time they're 18 and they believe transitioning is for them then go ahead, but not a moment before.
The fact that you would push for such serious options to be open to children says a great deal about your own ignorance.

Puberty is important in our development.
Its so hard for me to get hormone treatment replacement therapy for actually low hormones due to a medication I take that affects testosterone levels, im 41.
I have to push and bug my doctor to even test my hormone levels.
But, somehow "trans kids" are getting hormones so easy.

as a parent who was lost in the correspondence sent to me telling me and my child that there is no actual support for them and what there is or rather was has now closed down is about right for medieval England, i feel that the delays are to see if your child is going through a phase so as to not address our children becuase that would be easier,

The NHS shouldn't be paying for this.
the nhs is struggling as it is. this just seems like a huge strain on NHS/funds when there is people with actually life threatening illnesses like cancer who are having to wait even longer for treatment/tests. thousands of people do this any it only makes it harder for the nhs to treat emergency responses and people who are legitimately dying. there is priority and people dying are on top and should always be.

I wish people in the comments would actually think about the thousands of children awaiting even an initial appointment to discuss their gender identity issues, rather than go off on one about what clinicians (not any of you or I as amateurs) think about prescribing medication.

Outright denying that Transgender people exist and have rights is ugly. But raising caution about Trans diagnoses and surgery as default options is not ugly, it's common sense. The Trans lobby do themselves no favours by having an anti-research stance. Do I think some right-wing nutjobs want to use research as an excuse to see Transgenderism as a mental illness? Of course they do, but this doesn't mean that there aren't lots of well-intentioned law makers and medical professionals who genuinely want to get to the bottom of this in order to best help many so-called Trans people. I say so-called as not every diagnosed Trans person is Trans, and making them believe they are Trans as a default is abhorrent, and causes more harm than good in many cases.

Alarmed to see a mental health professional refer to being trans as a 'problem' and a 'disturbance' I know many healthy happy trans adults post transition. Their identity isn't a 'problem' and they are not 'disturbed', they are living fulfilling lives
