I said absolutely nothing, but just stared him down. He backed off after a minute and just walked. But I was prepared if he invaded my space. however, I didn't have a great body. I just told him with my eyes that I was willing to fight rather than talk... And thankfully, he backed down.

Yeah your totally right. i had a guy who came to my door at 1 in the morning and he said he could take me. I just shut my mouth and watched his eyes waiting for him to make a move. It seemed he was waiting for me to say something stupid so he could get angry and with some Adrenalin he would probably have the advantage . So when I didn't give him a reason to get angry he left calling me a dog etc. The guy was high on drugs and alcohol he probably wouldn't even remember it the next day. Ive been in a couple of street fights and I can give you life saving tips. What you want to do is never let the guy close to you within hitting distance. I cant STRESS enough how important this is, you tell him to back off or you keep your distance when you back away slowly the fight usually ends there but if somehow he manages to get within distance YOU STRIKE FIRST. And you blast that sucker with full force to incapacitate. Aim for the jaw, neck, liver or balls. Take him out of the equation and you leave the area take a cab immediately if you can, this is also important because that guy can come back looking for you out of your field of vision and stab you or whatever. (had this happen to me more than once so its more common than you think) so leave the area fast. Remember in a street fight, there are no rules.

Race has nothing to do with it. I’m 5’9 and I’ve done the same technique, actually, mostly with black guys because they tend to come at me in a rude as fuck way.. I’m cool and I’m talking to them and then they get to the point where they actually piss me off and I intuitively do exactly what Brandon is saying here, I step into them and look them dead in the eye and then say my piece and they save face after that because they can tell what would happen to them if they don’t chill the fuck out. Last time the guy came back around and apologized to me and I shook his hand and we respected eachother more as men.
I’m very slow to anger and I would never fight without anger, but if you persist and choose to ignore the warning signs you bet your sweet ass I’m going to deck you the second I realize you only understand irrationality and a conflict is unavoidable.
My philosophy too. I'm always hesitant to throw hands. Rarely get in these type of altercations due to size (them gains) but my draw back to fighting is getting arrested getting charges and all that law court bullshit just for a dumb fight. Great video!

I perfectly understand trying to avoid a fight at all cost Brandon. Some people might not fall for the stare and wont be intimidated. I teach my sons to avoid confrontation. I tell them though if someone approaches you in a threatening manner. Eliminate the threat. Basically swing first and hard as you can. You dont want someone else to swing first because you may not ever get a chance to recover.

E.g you might go all in, just to get knocked out cold LOL. That's why you don't fight a person if you are uncertain of their capabilities.

I've used the stare down plenty of times and it worked.You just have to use your imagination and make sure you make your presence felt.Usually in a situation like this you have to maintain the balance.In other words do not allow the incident to enable a robust outcome.Your composure and keen instincts should allow you to be aware of your surroundings when the occasion arises.
