As much as you demonstrate techniques, the real lessons from your channel are about attitude, problem solving and patience. I always enjoy hanging out in your garage, looking over your shoulder.

      Yes...I suspected as soon as I trimmed the excess material from the blank. Then as I folded the flange, it would get closer, but I knew it probably wouldn't work. Happy it turned out so well or I'd agonizing over the flaw.

    You might have an easier time getting the left one welded if you cut it in the middle of the long side. That makes both sides equally supple, so the short one doesn't fight you as much. It will also make it easier to get the angles to look good.

    • @ThrottleStopGarage

      The rivet gun hits less hard and more consistently than an air hammer. I do have a few rivets to install for this car.

    Very nice. I wonder if rolling the edges over a wire like was done on old fenders would have worked for your edges or if it would have made any difference at all on the ease of construction. Great work!

    • @ThrottleStopGarage

      I considered it and had the wire at the ready. Luckily it was fine without and on the next panel, I'll leave the flange longer to make this easier.

    I bought a tig welder from eastwood and i started welding but i find soething is happening to the longevity of my gas .should last ten hours odf welding and i get two.could it be it's leaking somewhere inside the machine ? Iv'e checked all my conections and im using proper post flow and all that with just enough presure to do the job.Maybe you might have some Idea's. Lou
    Great job on the grill ring.Stainless it tough stuff to shape.

    • @ThrottleStopGarage
      @ThrottleStopGarage  Год назад

      Thanks Lou. My first guess is the solenoid valve in the machine. Test it to make sure it's not leaking. Make sure you're turning the tank off when not in use. I shut mine off as soon as I'm done welding and open it just before I start.
