  • The theme for this video really was "I dunno?" because we seriously had some issues with this bottom bracket and crank set. Nothing about this was easy but we managed to get them installed and they look awesome! This is a long one due to the fact that we had to do some trial an error along the way but that's what backyard mechanics do right?

    My first BMX in 1981 was a black framed bmx, chrome forks and gold/yellow accents, geometry and style similar to the old Raleigh Burner, I absolutely loved racing, wasn't the absolute best but it was more about the fun factor for me, I raced local and regional in the Netherlands.
    I have just ordered a 2021 SE So Cal Flyer (24" wheels) and can't wait to ride again.
    I do like the chrome and blue theme but I also love black and gold. I was also looking at a GT but the bike I ordered was on sale at 46% discount and just couldn't pass it up!

      It's a Monza, a new brand started a few years ago by some dudes like us who rode BMX back in the day. Check out their website at monzabc.com/ . Their 26" chrome is just like $600 for the entire bike which is insane. They sent this bike to me and I have loved it. I shot some videos for them and then upgraded some parts on it. They are super nice people to work with and they have a Facebook group too. If you are looking for a big BMX bike to get back into BMX with, this is a good choice!

      Yep, Bernie and I interestingly enough both bought the same stand without knowing! For the price it's pretty solid! It won't hold up a heavy e-bike or anything but for the big BMX bikes we're building, it's held up just fine! We bought it for around $80 but it's since gone up to about $100. If you don't have a stand it's not a bad one to get!

    Hi guys, I LOVE watching your video's! Its great seeing 2 buddies just hanging out and having fun together, doing it with BMX bikes makes it all the better :) I have 2 questions for you if I can... First is...How are you feeling about the Monza bikes now you have had them for a bit? I am thinking of buying one. Also, do you know if its possible to drop 29 inch wheels on them? Thanks for your time, and keep up the great content. Aloha!! :)

    • @cruisinginthe808
      @cruisinginthe808  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much! I really love my Monza. I had no idea what this bike company was all about until a friend of mine picked one up. I created a video on it and Monza saw it and we started working together. They provided me with my 26" so that I could create some videos. I was able to customize it later and I really love how it came out. I do not know if 29" wheels can fit on the 26 but there may be a 29" from them in the future. I've requested one from them and while they can't say for sure one is coming, my gut tells me that they are working on one. Before I got it I was only riding 29s and I thought maybe the 26 would be small, but after riding it, I've found that the 26 is a really good size for someone like me. I'm 5'9" tall and this fits me really well. The price is good and you get some really decent parts for a full bike. It's a great bike to get back into the big BMX thing and I think you would like it. If you are on Facebook, join their owners group and you can see what others have to say about it. Thanks for watching and for the kind comment! Appreciate that!

    @barryrobbins7694 2 года назад

    I am really enjoying your channel.
    Here are a few things that might be helpful in the future. Although, it might make your channel less entertaining. :)
    The bottom bracket bearing cups need to be fully tightened so that they will not unthread as you pedal; both cups unthread in the direction of pedaling. The crank arm bolts also need to be fully tightened. Ideally there is no space between the crank arms, external spacers, inner bearing races, and the internal spacer, assuming the bearings are not binding due to side loading. If everything is fully tightened and there is side loading, it means the internal spacer is too long, or the external spacers are too long and the internal spacer is too short. Keep in mind bottom bracket shells are not always milled to the exact width specified - they are not made by NASA. You don’t absolutely need the internal spacer, but it can help share the natural side loading between the left and right bearings that occurs when pedaling.
    In the real world, there is usually a slight under sizing of the total spacer distance. This means that the crank spindle slides back and forth across the inner bearing races; it is best to put a bit of grease on the spindle at those contact points to prevent creaking.
    Some one mentioned using Frame Saver on the interior of your frame and fork to prevent rust. Boeshield T-9 and Amsoil’s Heavy-Duty Metal Protector are also good.
