I used to spend 6-8 hrs a day on Hutch Pro Racer when school was out. Then I got my license and the bike got put up. 20 yrs later I got a Haro 24 inch cruiser and could not believe how physical that workout was. Nearly killed me.

I'd prefer my old school 44/16 gearing. I wondered why those front sprockets looked so small. Everything modern bmx looks stupid. The seat slammed to the frame, tiny sprocket, balloon tires, and even the grips.

The axles are probably 10x1mm or 3/8”-24 in size we make these also. 3/8”-26 is the most popular size you tried in video.

Hey guys, the original chain ring has direction teeth for gears shifting for going up and down. Regarding to the axle nuts , yes there's different pitch because I have a Mongoose Fireball mountain bike dirt jumper has a 12mm thru-axle which has 25x.1mm pitch threading, which a normal 3/8 axle nut won't fit.. so now I have to get 25x.1mm type axle nut and for my front , well I have a Manitou Circus Expert dirt jumper fork that uses a 20mm thru-axle for a certain type front hub.... wish I could help you guys out if I was there. See that original chain ring and the chain are specific to be together and so the bmx chain ring uses bigger wide chain. I know it's just hard to understand the bike stuff but you guys will figure it out.....

I think that Knight gear requires a 3/32 chain

If you turn the screw on the derailer just a little bit it will stop clicking and searching for gears

You need to use an 1/8" chain because the new sprocket is 1/8 and the old one is 3/32. Get a 1/8" chain it will fix the problem

The only thing you need is 5-arm chainring in correct diameter BCD 110mm for 9 speed chain. Wheel axle Bolt on rear wheel is 10mm, wheel axle bolt on front wheel is 9mm. Greetings from Croatia

Fun video! GREAT job showing the differences on those bb tools. My guess is the silver one is irregular. It should have fit both sides like the black one. .. At around 29 minutes, that bb cup shouldn't need a wrench until you get to the very end to tighten it down. Typically, when they're hard to tighten like that, I would take the frame to a bike shop with a thread chaser and have the threads cleaned. Otherwise, you risk stripping the frame threads and/or the bb cup threads. But it looked like you got it done! .. Regarding Kev's question at 39 minutes about the chainline - The chainring you removed appeared to be a 'narrow-wide' chainring, designed for single chainring up front and a cassette in the back, it helps so the chain doesn't pop off when the chainline is way off (which will happen when you're switching really low or high up on the cassette). You might be fine with the chainring you installed, if you're riding mostly slow and on non-bumpy roads. But the chain could jump off the chainring. If that keeps happening, you can install a "bike chain guide" (search on Amazon) on the seat tube. They look a little silly, but they work well if installed properly. BUT, it looks like that seat tube is not round, so you might have to shop around to find one that will clamp on properly. Of course, you could get a narrow-wide chainring, or install the one that came with the bike, and it should work most of the time. I have a 1x (front) 10 speed (rear), and even with a narrow-wide chainring, it still jumps off occasionally if I jump off a curb or something. But when I used to have the chain guide installed, it never came off. .. Okay, I see the chain got stuck later in the video. 10-speed chains are thinner between the links than single speed. So your chainring teeth are too thick. Also, that chain doesn't look like a normal 10-speed chain. Personally, I would put a narrow-wide chainring on (designed for 10-speed), and a new 10-speed chain from KMC or whatever. .. The bolt pattern on the chainring doesn't matter for your sticking problem, it's just the sprocket is 1/8 design, and the chain is thinner.

Why on earth would you not hit some singletrack with a BMX? Bicycle Motocross... That means a BMX loves going dirtin' and may be allergic to tarmac!!

What would you guys recommend to get for a 26 in just for cruising that doesn’t need upgrades right out of the box besides the Monza and GT”s. I’ve been looking at the Hora freestyle but know very little about bikes.

Watching you guys cruise these bikes makes me miss my cousin who a couple years older than me and was the major BMX influence in my life! He was my riding/racing buddy and any childhood memories that I have involving anything bike related, he was part of! Miss those days and wish we didn't live so far away from each other. I'm sure we would still be doing what you guys are doing! Much envy! Mongoose-4-ever!
