    WARNING for those considering purchasing.
    [Update: Eufy eventually agreed to replace them camera as I created such a fuss. I do think that these RUclips comments played a part. Current replacement working well for the last few months]
    I purchased 3 Eufy cameras in total. Two of which were different models. In 14 months, one of the cameras went faulty, wouldn't charge and wouldn't turn on. Eufy support wanted nothing to do with it and we're adamant that as it was outside their 12 month warranty.
    Another camera has gone down and will only hold a charge for 9 days. After contacting support, as the camera is 17 months old they will not do anything about the warranty.
    It's not like their products are cheap either.
    I had purchased a replacement for the first faulty camera but I will not be buying a replacement for the latest faulty camera. The products are not cheap and do not even last one year.
    Horrible customer service and warranty. Do yourself a favour and purchase another product.

All this happened right about the year mark. They really do not care to support their customers even though we spend a lot of our hard earned money on these products. At this point they are refusing to do anything about the issues I am having!

      @@cardanium5790 battery life will be fine, solar charging will be fine, recordings will be missing "initial video" as the PIR sensor detects motion first, then turns on the camera, and THEN the camera is recording. People misinterpret this as "lag" when it's actually just bad product design that focused on maximizing battery life. Hopefully eufy can add an option to detect motion from video (in addition to PIR sensor) with the obvious penalty of consuming a LOT of power. Otherwise I will not be buying another solar/battery camera of theirs, waste of money for security/surveillance.

    I have 4 of these for 4 days and here are some problems. It is not true as stated in this video that the human, pet and vehicle detection will keep unwanted events from triggering cameras. The fact on this is tree branches, shadows, flag blowing, bushes moving will trigger events just won’t record them. This created a problem of over 700 events on my camera and only about 21 recordings draining the battery to 94% in full Florida sun (8 hours no clouds) yesterday. The battery drained faster than charging. The detection of humans etc. are just to not fill up with unwanted recordings but this does not eliminate the battery draining from trees and bushes or shadows moving in view of the camera. I am experimenting with the features to try to come up with a solution since the system is actually very nice. If no solution can be found, I will return them.

    • @miraclelove991
      @miraclelove991 Год назад

      You brought out 1 extenuating point, the cameras if they are set to be to sensitive they will trigger unnecessary events. Since mines are hard-wired I never thought about.I was really wanting this E.ufy camera. I love the pan. Guess I will have to have it hard-wired. But I have 10 cameras. But when the neighborhood lost all power, I know I need the solars now.

    • @sexyplexie
      @sexyplexie 8 месяцев назад

      Given that the "battery" cameras use a PIR sensor to detect motion, a moving bush or shadow shouldn't cause an event to trigger or record.. which is a huge fail of the "battery" cameras where the "wired" cameras detect motion just fine, including smaller items like birds that the PIR sensors completely miss.

  • @Jarob9
    @Jarob9 11 месяцев назад

    Nice review~! Do you happen to know the Motion Detection Range? I want to capture 2 sliding doors and to get them both, I need to be 65+ feet away. Will this camera detect them at that range? If Not, Is there others that do? Thanks for the nice work!

    • @sexyplexie
      @sexyplexie 8 месяцев назад

      For the solar/battery cameras it's about 15 feet reliably, at 25 feet they struggle with small objects. They are poor at detecting "head-on" motion. At 65+ feet you will get nothing, you would want to buy a "wired" camera, such as their indoor E220/P24, since they do not rely on a PIR sensor for motion detection. The obvious problem is then poorer video quality (2k vs 4k) but maybe that is okay for some people, the secondary problem is if you have a homebase it will not use the "ai" detection on the homebase at all, and you can't use the automation features (such as starting 2-3 cameras when your doorbell detects motion.)

      I have done the research and asked questions, and Eufy 3 will probably be replacing my existing setup on the outside of my property. No I don’t expect 12 month battery life nor 30m range to the cameras from the Homebase, but they should be better than my current solution.

    I have Eufycams and biggest flaw is they turn off AI motion-detection of humans at night. I get notifications of cats, dogs, moving tree branches all night. Their only solution to all these false alarms is to turn off notifications at night. So guess what. You won't be notified of human lurking around your home. That is not security at all.

    • @ThatOneguy-br3uf
      @ThatOneguy-br3uf Год назад +5

      No it doesn’t turn off human detection at night. Battery cams switch to all motion at night due to less visibility. This is to increase the chance of picking up any movements as to not miss an important event. It will still notify of a human if the AI can identify it. If you want it to not switch to all motion at night use a ac powered camera. This is almost as dumb as the people who think their solar battery powered cams should record 24/7.

IF internet goes out and you still have home wifi should still record as only uses internet for you to view away from home.

    • @sexyplexie
      @sexyplexie 8 месяцев назад

      No, it's considered a feature, not a flaw. I am not defending the decision, I am just sharing current-state. The real issue is bad system architecture, it's okay for the device to purge data, what's not okay is that when I access my homebase3 I have no way of reviewing the recordings of the person that removed the camera and held the reset button for 10 seconds. This was an oversight in their software implementation which I hope they can address. The camera should continue to appear on the app so you can continue to access the video/event data stored on the HomeBase3... but for that to happen people are going to need to engage with a lawyer.

    Buyers beware, the camera comes with a significant lag. Human detection on cameras comes with a lag of 3-4 seconds which is good enough for any intruder to gain access to your door or window. Not exactly an effective camera security system.

    • @aZiDtrip
      @aZiDtrip 9 месяцев назад +1

      And what is your "lag" from when you get an phone notification until u have picked up your phone open your app and seen whats happening on the recording/stream and then try to reach the location where the "crime" is happening ?
      its not the camera that has lag. it starts recording when it detects an event, its the notifications that has to travel of the network that have some delays

    • @sexyplexie
      @sexyplexie 8 месяцев назад

      There is no such lag in my experience, but, the PIR sensor on the solar/battery cameras (all of them) is terrible at detecting things and this could be misperceived as "lag" when it is in fact a failure to detect motion at all. Completely different issue.

    • @sexyplexie
      @sexyplexie 8 месяцев назад

      @@aZiDtrip Actually, I have three camera brands on our property (over the course of 10+ years you tend to upgrade things but keep all the old stuff.) And I have IP cameras that rightly capture 10s of video ahead of detecting motion, then store that along with the video feed of the detection event. This is something eufy battery/solar cameras (like the eufyCam3) fail to do because they are built to conserve power, there is no "pre-capture" and the detection function on these cameras is (currently) dependent on a PIR sensor (and not video/picture frames like 99% of the IP cameras on the market.)
      I really like the product line, but at least I can admit these things have a serious detection flaw, and for the price (a security system that costs hundreds of dollars for just a couple of cameras) I expect WAY better. Everyone should. Anker is making a killing on units sold, hopefully people stop defending their failures and they spend some of that revenue addressing the problems ... otherwise eventually eufy will become a dead product (or a class action lawsuit) as more and more consumers become aware of the flaws and misrepresentations.

    I don't know why they just didn't make the night vision better. In today's world of technology there's no excuse to have a poor night vision on an upgraded camera

    Only watched the first few minutes. The amount of commercials (almost every 80 seconds) is just sickening.

    The biggest flaw of these solar cameras is that unlike most cameras they do not detect motion using video, they detect motion using a PIR sensor (the small panel just below the camera lens is a PIR sensor.) How bad is it? Well, we put one camera (eufyCam3) "inside" our home above our front door, facing out. It has never picked up a single person. Not one, in 90s days. Why? The glass is double-paned and the PIR sensor can't "see" through it because of the thermal barrier the window creates. We have another camera (eufyCam3) in our back yard, which we installed to detect small animals like the neighborhood cats and some wildlife. Pet detection? Hardly. We've watched cats, squirrels, and trash pandas walk around freely and the camera completely ignores them.
    PIR. All in the name of saving some battery power!
    But it gets better, also in the name of saving battery power these cameras will often stop recording even though there is still an active event. By default they cut out after 20 seconds, you can configure them to record for up to 120 seconds (two minutes.) I have endless captures of things walking into the backyard and then getting outside the distance of the PIR sensor, stand still long enough (or pass behind something) and the camera stops recording. It will then NOT continue to record until the thing comes back within range of the PIR sensor.
    Had I known this about these cameras I would not have spent hundreds of dollars on them. They are useless for what I bought them for. That said, their "wired" cameras work like you would expect, like the other 99% of IP cameras on the market, but these solar/battery cameras are basically overpriced trash. That's what nobody is telling you. Trash. I wish eufy would add an option, at the expense of a LOT of power, to detect from VIDEO motion by taking still frames 2-3 times per second and using the homebase to perform motion detection (in addition to the PIR sensor) because I would immediately wire them for continuous power and be very VERY happy with the cameras. Instead I am using their "lesser quality" 2K indoor cameras to monitor outside of my home since they are the only ones that actually work well enough for SECURITY and surveillance.
    PIR. It was clever, but it's not good.

      The problem is easily solved. Just spend another $750-$1500($1300- $2050+) or more on a wired system with true motion sensing like my neighbour did. He also has beautiful videos of his back yard foliage. My understanding is that pet detection means that it won't record them. It is only meant to record humanoid bodies. You can set the system up to record pets if you want to.

    NOT a very good video. AND it's repetitive AND it offers non-relevant jabber, (ie, if your car battery is low . . . ) If it was edited to be 👉 On Point, it would be around 5 minutes. AND it totally misses WHAT OTHER ITEMS are necessary for the cam to function.

    A very biased review with a click bait title. Makes me wonder if I can trust the channel. But I know I can't trust a camera system owned by the Chinese.
