In this video I will be taking a look at and comparing Eufy’s NEW HomeBase 3 to the older Homebase 2 as well as looking at the EufyCam 3 4k which comes in a bundle. I will also be showing you the setup process and upgrade process, SPOILER, there isn’t an upgrade process!

I am sorry but 12 Minutes of talking without answering the question that clearly makes out the title... Yes you've mentioned lots of details of the new generation (all public information) but as a long-term user of the Eufy portfolio you should add way more details of what makes the 3rd generation superiour to the 2nd generation, supposing this is the case. Especially some first-hand impressions of how the AI is doing and how it is improving itself over time is missing.

The continue push back on support with HB3 with so many of their cameras is very disappointing.

My biggest problem will probably be that my cameras will be up to 30 feet from the base station! Will this work? They will all have full Wi-Fi with a good quality signal via Unify system but not able to directly connect to the Home Base only via normal Wi-Fi network
It’s a really quick answer, yes or no? I would leave the home base permanently connected to the Ethernet
Do you know what format the hard drive needs to be to install a larger capacity one?
2.5 inch SATA. A SSD will eventually fail with so many re-writes so if you can afford it get a spinning disk HDD (or nick one from an old laptop) ideally a surveillance specific one.
Can you show how to connect 2k and doorbell cameras to eufy home 3?

Thanks for the video. I bought a battery powered dual camera model #T8513 which works great with the Homebase. Since I've been flooded with emails from Eufy promoting the new Homebase S380 with all the new features. Well decided to upgrade. Now, i'm fustraded, I just got off with support and I come to find out Eufys new homebase are not compatible with these dual camera doorbells. Geeze! It would have been nice to know before I spent my money. Buyer beware!

Does the Homebase 3 work with the wireless dual-camera doorbell? From what I have read it doesn't but then I read other places that it does work with the new Homebase.

I'm very impressed after upgrading from an Arlo Ultra to a EufyCam 3 system with Homebase 3 -- far fewer false alerts! better video quality! no subscription! The issue with factory resetting cameras seems to be solved with the new cameras

Eufy are offering the upgrade for existing App fans to the new Homebase 3 at a discounted price of £105. Good review Scott looks like I need to find the cash to upgrade.
Oh wow really? I couldn’t find any info about this but I do know they are out of stock in the UK and it will be available on the Eufy store at the end of this month.

@@scottpinhorne It was clearly advertised directly in the Eufy app for several weeks, by showing a nag screen on almost every app start. The discount is still valid, just use the "discover" tab.

@@0900McShizzle, it actually IS THERE, so it doesn't have to be a "Eury rep" to bring up the subject. I precisely looked up videos on HB2 vs HB3 because the app has the nag popup.
How far from the home hub do the cameras work ? I am considering installing in on the roof fender facing the drive will it still be able to communicate with the hub ?

You should have included outside footage of the cameras, I wouldnt buy this system without seeing how good the video quality was .... A 5 sec bit of footage in a small room isn't good enough ......

Just purchased the homebase 3 and so dissapointed that it NEEDS to be wired connected to our WiFi router.. With the homebase2 I could leave the WiFi router in one room and place the hub somewhere else. Now they have to be side by side.
its actually only wired for the initial setup, at which point it can then be removed and used as wifi. only time it needs to be fully wired is if you have a 24/7 surveillance camera

There was one video where they took this info (and ONLY THIS INFO) and manifested the narrative that they were storing EVERYTHING including VIDEO indefinitely and unencrypted. The amount of gaslighting simple minded people for views is insane.
My thoughts exactly, from what I'm seeing this is one of the most data secure (for the user)camera systems out right now.

Great review, thank you. I've got a few questions: What's the maximum distance can I have between the camera and home base? Does the home base connect wirelessly to the router? In UK weather, where sometimes you don't get sunshine for days, what happens to the camera? Does it stop?
Lack of HomeKit support is putting me off currently on upgrading to the 3.
Your compatability chart is out of date, Eufy have move up the compat dates for indoor pan and tilt and others to June 2023 instead of late 2023 so they are upping their game all the time. Only a few have to wait a little while. Anyway, yes Eufy is the ding dong of home security and the solo cams and the newer cams make fantastic bird watching cams for the garden too. Nice vid mate . The kit you have here is discounted now at £399 ...20% off

Just adding a Homebase 3 is $149 US on Amazon. So I decided to buy it for the two cameras I have.
I bought the 4 camera bundle and I tryed holding button for 20+ seconds and it didn’t do anything.. camera still is view able and it doesn’t delete anything.. guessing it has been fixed or maybe you didn’t actually check? Supposedly it was fixed in a late January update.

Reason I'm typing this to you... cheers for the info vids, I have two home base 2 with two 2C pro cams hooked to each [was cheaper to buy my setup that way] and I have one home base positioned at either end of the house used as wi fi repeater stations as my cams are a long way from the house and one motion detector hooked to one of the home bases.
It may have been an update, I can't remember if I've had it from the get go, which the app tells me.. "we have protected you for 280 days" but I can chose different alert tones for each camera from the app. Carry on and all the best!!

I have the homebase 2 and the dual doorbell. My biggest gripe is the MASSIVE delay between doorbell ringing and being able to connect to the live feed on the app. Trying to have a conversation is damn near impossible due to the homebase lag.
With the homebase 3 having a quad core processor I'm wondering whether this has been resolved ?
From what I experienced (HomeBase 3, using Dual Cam Doorbell), it’s about a 1 second lag for most cases.
Great review. The AI filtering sounds really good! I currently have a Homebase 2 with a bunch of 2C Pros and a Pan and Tilt and was thinking of upgrading to the Homebase 3 hoping to get a better range to the cameras. However, the end of your video doesn't sound too good with legacy gear unfortunately! :(...... Any thoughts on the range question would be appreciated.
Thats exactly the question I'm trying to find out. I also run a bunch of cameras, and some of the outdoor ones just have such weak (or loss) of signal back to my Homebase 2. I really hope the Homebase 3 would make a better connection.

I heard that the delay on detection is slow, by the time someone comes on to your drive or property, to the time the camera starts recording, you only end up seeing the back of their head walking away? Is this still true? Has anybody had this issue with these cameras? Cheers!
I have had this on maybe 2-3 occasions but most of the time it hasn’t been a problem.

Besides the new people/pet detection added to the floodlight camera, i'm more interested to know if the new homebase 3 support continuous footage for my eufy floodlight camera (1080p). The compatibly page said my device is compatible, but i would like to confirm if it is not only talking about the detection features, but also support continuous recording. Thanks!

You can indeed. The security system works with the HB3 although you will need to manually re-add all the components of this.
Does the new home base have a longer range to connect with all cameras? I am having issues with one cam losing connection, which is the one furthest away from the base . I have swapped cams to ensure it is not the camera and it all points to a slight weak connection to the base.

Quick question: when upgrading from HB2 to HB3 like you, did your different devices lost their current configuration? (recording settings, audio/video parameters, etc...)

I’ve read ppl’s experiences on your question and they all said that they had to reconnect every single camera to the new homebase 3 and all settings for those cameras also had to be reconfigured

Thank you for this great video, I'm considering this setup for my home , but i have some questions, does the camera use internet bandwidth when recording an event? , Or does it only communicate with the home base , also what would happen if the internet goes out? I know i won't get notified but will the event be recorded on the home base?

This setup doesn’t need internet as it records on Homebase 3 which you can put next to your router
Is there hard drive that is larger than 5TB on 2.5", how can we fit 16TB hard drive on this??, they should've gone with 3.5" hard drive...

If you are in the same room as the homebase 2 its loud... it isn't very loud if your anywhere else in the house.
I’d say it was pretty loud yes, more so than the Homebase 2, that’s for sure.
Still not convinced by these over-priced solar cameras, Plus they have to be south facing , so no good facing north even though they brag about "low light" charging. What exactly are the "low light" tolerances?? Hence that's why they give you the ubiquitous USB cables to recharge which can be an inconvenience having to take them down time after time.
For that price you can get a decent 4 cameras, 4K POE with dvr for 240 quid.
How many add on cameras we can add with home-based 3
I just bought a Eufy S340 and I hate it. I only get notifications when some activity happens but I would think that the camera would come on and I could see this live....sort of like the live feed from the E340 doorbell. I need a camera that comes on when there is activity!!!
If you are true, please introduce a 16TB SATA, HDD or SSD 2.5 inch hard drive that is compatible with this device.
If I have Eufy cameras that were used before purchasing the HomeBase 3, and I add them to HB, will it erase (or make unaccessible for donations) the existing recordings? I just installed a new SoloCam S340 & when connecting to HB3 it told me internal videos saved on camera would only be accessible again if I removed from HB3. I'm not sure it things are deleted, or just stuck on the device. Thanks! Your video was awesome, and I wouldnt have know I could add these and get the additional AI features on my existing cameras (which I'm obsessed with)
For surveillance applications a spinning rust HDD will last longer than a SSD and can have more capacity.
Eufy does have there issues, I bought the entire set up including there $299 Flood Light cam, it broke down after 1 yr thus out of warranty so no return, it would not reconnect with the hub even after removing this wired device then connecting it directly back to the hub, nothing.. So they do have quality issues..

Hi Scott, being a complete owner of the 4 camera Eufy 2 Pro 2 k kit (worked brilliantly) I added another Pro cam 2 and the door lock with camera, finger print, key pad etc then my problems started. I have a samsung S21 and the 'notifications' were just blank white screens when you get notified. Previously I got the notification and when you click on it it would show the clip but now no video but you still get audio. I called the support group here in Australia (as I live in Perth, Western Australia) and they were brilliant but had never heard of it but sent me a heap of commands, unplug the home base, dump the Samsung cache, reboot the phone, etc, etc. All failed.
I got my old Samsung S8 out of hibernation and its good. The app works on the wifes iphone, my ipad and all's good but alias the Samsung S21 is doomed.
I told the support group I'll probably go and just buy the Home Base 3 and see if that resolves the problem?
I asked if anybody else had experienced this world wide but they didn't Know.

Homebase 2 update broke my homebase all together. Within a year. I hugely recommend disabling the update.
When there is a power outage, all Homebase 3 safety will be zero...
This is true and would pretty much be the same for any security system so isn’t specific to Eufy. No power means no router/internet, no DVR, no PoE so no app access to any security system whether it’s cabled or battery powered unless of course you UPS your homes core systems 😀 Thanks for your comment.
What about multiple live feed view? Others cheap camaras can do it like wyze, and eufy dont.

From what I understand, the camera sender is 4K, but the upload is 1080p. The 4K sensor is for zooming in and keeping the same resolution.

Face recognition is nice, but what if I take a screenshot of your face from this video and print it and use it as a face mask. Would that ignore the alert?

Does this have the feature where you can have a live feed onto a stationary screen similar to like a baby monitor style set up (I understand it has the phone feature which would be good for after hours). Looking to have it set up in a office space that has front door, back door and retail space.

i wanted to buy two E2 cameras but it turns out that if I want an internal siren need the homebase. I can only get the homebase 3 which has battery because our country has daily power outs

I have Eufy 2 homebase sensors plus 1 camera. It has been working perfectly for 1.5 year. Recently the app very slow and unresponsive. basically useless. Is there any experience what can cause this? i tried to uninstall reinstall app, but its the same? Could it be that the 16Gb storage is full? Thanks.
I’ve checked with my brother who has the HB2 and he said it hasn’t noticed anything like this. Has anything else in your environment changed with wireless devices or router changes etc?

So far so good. Not has a single issue yet! The dual camera doorbell isn’t yet compatible with the homebase 3 but it’s in their list… apparently.
Hi. I want to to install a HB3 and camera, but the camera will be beyond the range of the HB3. I have a mesh wif network that reaches all parts of the proerty. Can I connect the camera to the HB3 via the mesh network? Thanks
It depends on the camera as some of the standalone ones are wireless but also connect with the HB:.
The Homebase 3 does NOT yet work with Floodlight Cam 2 Pro...here in the US till May 2023 (the latest date as of 3/2023). If that is no longer true please let me know.
Same here in UK their site says May and the indoor cams in March… we shall see…

Great video, with the new facial recognition ability can separate notifications be set for each family member. For example I hate being notified every time I walk through the room but want to be alerted when my father, Alzheimer’s, is wandering.
Currently notifications based on whom was detected isn’t a thing although it will tell you who it has detected if they have been added as a familiar face.
I'm a little confused. I see an advertisement of expandable to 16t; is that only with the internal hard drive, or is it also compatible with the usb 3.0 link for an external?
Sadly the USB port doesn’t support external storage so it’s the internal drive only.
I added my face but still the eufy can 3C is not recognising me. I tried this under very good lighting and looking straight into the camera.
How to train the camera to detect me better?
In the app i often go into Edge and then assign unfamiliar faces to familiar ones to help the learning and this seems to work well for me and people get recognised much better so maybe the AI just needs a little help from us mere humans :-D

I did not know a video can have a shape 🙂 Do you get notifications from the doorbell camera when the internet is down? In other words, can data/video flow from the camera to the homebase 3 to the cellphone directly?
That would require the Homebase to have a inbuilt 5G modem or be connected to 5G hotspot dongle over WiFi
i think eufy needs to make and outdoor siren also that's the only missing devices to make this the best security kit as the camera siren is not too loud and i dont want to attract attention to my homebase i dont think they thought this through
