Very Nice review. I am testing a base model Eufy camera I received for Christmas. I think this one is 2K and looks better than my Google Nest system. Will probably have the pro model at some point.
Thanks for acknowledging the delamination. I had this problem with 5 s330 cams. I also experienced 1 camera with water in it which was out of warranty and they still replaced it. The new replacement camera did have the new solar panel as the S3 but I’ve only had it a couple months so not enough time for me to make a judgement on its longevity. I will probably chance it and pick up some S3’s and try them out. I almost never had false alerts but I do have an issue with 4 cameras not recording vehicles at night. The camera spot light comes on but the activity is too short I suppose for the recording to start but it’s not a problem during daylight hours. This may be better with the S3. I’ve been with Eufy since February 2023 and never charged them manually so I still think they are the best for me and will stay with them for now. Also the pink hue you experienced is exactly what happened to me at the same time the camera was full of water. Curious if your camera was taking in water.
I'm thinking of getting my first security camera. I am wondering is there a monitor somewhere in the house or is the phone the only way to view the camera?
I have a couple of SoloCam s340's and a Floodlight Cam that have tilt and pan and my favorite feature is the tracking. I love the 4K feature and the enhanced night vision of the S3 Pro, but not enough to give up the tracking. Now if Eufy would just activate tracking for "pets" (animals) on the S340's.....that would be perfect. I love watching the animals that visit.
That's really good! Thank you. I just bought my first eufy s340 and installed it and the base station this week and am really impressed. This morning I bought the s3 pro. Your review confirmed it was a good purchase!
You mentioned in the Pro 3 presentation, that the home base does not recored 24/7 unless it is hardwired. Does the home base have to be wired to the camera to get 24/7 or did I miss understand? Thanks..whops I noticed that there was a link to the same question. Man, that is a lot or wire to sting.
Hi, great video! Is this camera fully compatible with Homebase 2? Are the Pro 2 mounts compatible - can I just screw the new ones on? Can I continuous record with Homebase 2? Thanks again!
Hi, I have one tricky question. I have a POE cabling in my new home, if i buy this S3 pro camera and if i use a poe splitter (with a usb-c variant), then can i use this to power this camera for 24x7 recording?
I would assume you can, looks like right now we're waiting on an update for the 24/7 recording. I'll update the pinned post and probably put out a short as well once I get that working.
I have the eufy cam s300's and they are decent except the one on the west side does not get a connection and my house isn't that big but it is brick.I also have the doorbell and it is hit or miss with picking up people coming to the door.
Thank you for the video. I have recently ordered the Base 3 and am also awaiting a new S3 Pro. I have not upgrade from my current Base 2 because of the lack of Homekit support with Base 3. However, I notice Eufy's website says the Base 3 is now Homekit compatible. I actually called Eufy as this has to be a very new development and the support person indeed confirmed Homekit support without Homebridge for the Base 3. So, all my hodgepodge of Eufy's should be Homekit when I switch them to the Base 3. Again, I don't have empirical evidence of this yet but their website and support are saying they have pushed out these enhancements.
Not every camera is compatible with HomeKit, even if the base is. It was also my experience that I needed a bridge. Switching over my cameras to HomeKit doesn’t interest me due to the resolution issues… I wish they would fix that.
The oldest cameras I have are 5ish years old, although the plastic has yellowed from the sun the summer. I havnt had any water intrusion issues in the winter.
Great review. Here in canada, we dont get much sun in the winter. Just wondering of the units capability in charging in overcast conditions and the ability to work in -20 celsius
Will using a direct ethernet cable to the hub 3 and using the Hub3 WiFi give you more options and easier access to saved videos rather than using you home WiFi to connect the cameras? Rob UK.
If I want cams to work with Apple HomeKit, do I need to decrease the quality from 4K to 1080p permanently? Or it can work 4k in Eufy app & 1080p on Apple?
Unfortunately it reduces the quality everywhere, the moment you connect it to HomeKit and it auto sets to 1080p it's 1080p in the Eufy app and HomeKit. Only way to get a high resolution back is to remove it from HomeKit, the moment it's removed from HomeKit, in the Eufy app it automatically defaults to 4K again. It's insane that Apple still only supports up to 1080p in this day and age.
Thinking about getting the S3Pro 4 camera kit. It will be my first security camera system. My question is with the 4 camera system, should I get the extra hard drive as well or is the base sufficient enough to record the clips from all 4 cameras?
With it only recording clips, no it won’t. If you decide to hard wire then and have it do continuous recording then the hard drive will definitely be necessary.
