    Wow! thank you for this video! I really like how you broke things down into easy, basic steps to get the neurological connection going. You helped give me language for what I was noticing about my own walking/running. I’m 26, played soccer all my life and I learned it’s quite an asymmetrical sport with our body. So now I am trying to relearn how to connect myself with different muscles and it’s a struggle. A lot of the exercises I am given to help with getting the leg up frustrate me because I don’t have that neurological connection to the muscles I’m supposed to be using. So I really like videos like yours where it’s way back to the basics.

I had an experience at the post office where as I was leaving the counter and started walking away my right leg froze and my gait and upper torso kept moving. Terrible experience. Thank God I didn't hit the floor. Question : will these exercises assist in prevention?. I'm already practicing the heel and relax method.

    I have been diagnosed with MS for 20 years and the last four years I have to use a walker and a scooter to get around 😔
    I have fallen so many times that
    I have injured my left side
    I cannot rotate my left ankle or bend my toes
    I thought I needed a hip replacement
    I am attending Physical Therapy for the last four years and I feel I’m getting better but it’s taking a long time
    But I will not give up My core is so weak
    Cannot even pick myself up off the floor, unless I crawl to something and pull myself up
    I feel like I’m gonna be stuck like this for ever
    Again
    I will not give up trying

    Hi Dr. Tobias, thanks for all that you do here. I really need some advice. I am 42 yrs old, had a stroke last May. I am working with a physical therapist. My left side side is effected by the stroke. My physical therapist has had me do a lot of weight bearing and exercises on that feet. My entire foot, ankle and toes, have been swelling with pain especially the ankle. It seems to swell bad after each session. I have told and even showed pictures of my 2 feet, so he could see the difference. He did not go easier with the exercises. I have worked with several different pt from different companies. I am staying with this therapist because he 'walks' me some, versus some that just left me to work out at exercise machines for half the session. I want to know if these strenuous exercises that cause my feet to swell would actually do more damage than the intended good. I am so frustrated because of the pain and I am so worried. What should be the right thing to do? In the mean while, I am using ice and heat and also a leg air compression sleeve, along with pain cream and patches. All advice is appreciated. Please help, anyone.

    • @marielhuegel5021
      @marielhuegel5021 2 года назад +1

      Hi. Your situation sounds frightening. Nothing should hurt like that.
      To the swelling, elevate the leg above your heart when resting. Unless you have some kind of blockage - something only a scan can see... you should get some relief.
      Ultrasound. Good luck.

    • @ryukoli4707
      @ryukoli4707 Год назад

      I agree, you need further scans to rule out clots. That said, your PT is correct in working to strengthen and restore function. I had problems with my affected side swelling for about 3 years, until I was able to utilize it more. This, as I understand it, is a normal result of a stroke. The more you utilize it, the better circulation.

    I do have a question for you about the resistance band. Have you by any chance used this on any of the taller people in your care? According to some of the reviews, it is a problem for those on the taller side such as those 5'10" and above. I was wondering if you had any experience with this?

    • @rehabhqofficial
      @rehabhqofficial  2 года назад +1

      Hi Fred! Great question! I have used it on some taller guys but no guarantees :) . 2 things might help 1. connect the resistance band in sitting where there will be less distance between waist and hip 2. you can add extra carabiners to add length to the resistance band. Also, since we are using the resistance to "assist" versus "resist" it might be better to have it a little shorter especially if your tone is really strong. I hope that helps!

    Hello, I really enjoy your channel, there are things you can do to improve. One, stop saying “ you can’t to save your life, VERY NEGATIVE. PLUS it does not go with the sign on your wall. Oh, and a much better sign would be “Believe it till you make it! Just saying.😊🤗

    Those are good ones,but on that first set of exercises,when you was lying on the mat with the leg hanging out ,my leg barely get off the floor,is that ok,or will that get better in time?

    Wow 🤯 GOD must have wanted me to see that I was not alone with having a stroke at such a young age of 46😢.. cause now I won't complain.. I have progressed so much!😊 from not being able to feed myself and bathe myself to doing it all by myself although I still can't walk but I'm going to still put forth the effort and energy and I am going to just trust in Jesus and let him have control ❤🙏🙌
