  • Going through many of the Augments
    What they do, how they help your pawn be what you want them to be
    One Correction - Proficiency only reduces Stamina by 25% and Conservation reduces Stamina by 15%. I think I said half, which would be 50%.... Woops

    i had no idea trajectory would make pawns use bows more- that's amazing. And now i finally know the toxicity skill doesn't make poison stronger, just faster to proc... that's a shame, honestly. But the fact that these augments effect pawn behavior just like inclinations is a massive breakthrough to me.

    I knew I would miss-state something or forget some detail. And I did a few. I will never claim that know everything about this game. I know a fair amount, and I like to share what I know, but I do feel pretty shitty when my info is wrong.
    - Conservation is 15% reduction of Stamina, and does NOT apply to Spellbows or Magic Shields.
    - Proficiency is a 25% reduction of Stamina.
    - Ferocity is any Core Skill. Which a single slash from a Sword or Dagger, and so on would apply. But that is a 10% for attacks that are not used very often, for the most part. Focused Bolt and Sword with Perfect Block are exceptions, however you get the gain from Vehemence with a broader gain toward all attacks.

Might explain why my sorcerer kept getting smacked in the mouth. • @duffduffington843
    @duffduffington843 3 года назад +6

    I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but I believe "Grit" also allows you to move, while stamina is depleted. Without it you are anchored to the ground.

    • @Whitebreadonly
      @Whitebreadonly 2 года назад +2

      I just pause it, unequip a weapon, and reequip it. Then you can move again, but you’ll still need to wait a few seconds for your stamina to go back up if you want to sprint again though. However, you can still just rinse and repeat, and spam a skill over and over. It also works if you’re a low level with a BBI weapon/armor equipped. See, all weapons have a level requirement to equip them. If you don’t meet the requirement for your currently equipped weapon, the game will rapidly drain your stamina even with just normal use. This works with any weapon, at any level, and any skill can still be used if your stamina is near empty, as long as your stamina is at least 1, you can still use a skill.

    I just want to point out one thing about Sanctuary:
    1st - The augment Sanctuary is supposed to increase M.Def and Def. by 20% when on red, but it's probably bugged.
    With that augment on when you are at red health most physical attacks will do around 1 damage, while magic attacks will still have around the same power. So it probably increases your physical defence by a number higher than 20% and ignores your M.Def. (Tested on cursed dragon: Breath killed me. Hits and grabs did 1 damage. Bites did around 10 damage, low def character).

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  6 лет назад +1

      That is interesting Pedro. I never noticed the magic vs physical, especially the Cursed Dragon's breath. I am now curious about more details.

    • @pedrosg7628
      @pedrosg7628 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah.
      This augment basically trivializes exhilaration play as long as you avoid all magic attacks. You can just tank physical ones. Sadly I don't really have extra detail.
      By running around with the augment active I noticed that I barelly take damage from physical (1 most of the time, only specially powerful attacks break the threshold to give me from 10 to 30 damage (30 was the highest that I've seen)) while magic still deals around the same amount of damage.

    00:01 The knowledge of when to adapt is important. But how to adapt in a certain situation is what will save you. And that's why you need to know what these augments do.
    00:14 Snape finds Harry Potter in the Philosopher's Stone. A new Harry was needed after this "incident". ***Several Harry-s later*** Producer: That's it! We are going an animation! I can't afford the deaths of so many Harry-s!
    00:45 So, the Augment gets nihiled?
    01:50 I wouldn't say that this augment is useless. I like to think of it as doing its role in the play very, very poorly.
    02:01 So.... Using augments on pawns is like messing with their minds. Maybe thiese augments are some kind of drug aimed at making a pawn do something?
    02:23 But without fitness how will I look good for the babes? Or compared to my buffed up pawns I will look nice, sleek and mysterious?
    03:04 Yes! Non of us will be dexterious! Come to me my lefties!
    03:30 The ulimate firefighter cosplay?
    04:35 You see... Four people look much scarier that just one.
    05:23 Helping wheel for learing Perfect Block
    05:55 Is this why the Assassin is a trap? (rip Admiral Ackbar)
    06:08 See? Not using drugs as they are intended can lead to bad alterations in your pawn's behaviour!
    06:35 Only a volley of arrows can save you from a ManEater.
    07:21 I like this one. I usually keep my items for myself and I don't let my pawns hold them. Also one never knows when one may need something, but usually everything goes fine without using anything that is in your inventory.
    07:59 Super Mario jumping joice. I still remember that day. There was alot of jumping.
    08:47 One know when an armour is level three when...?
    08:59 Holy! That there is my boy! Ye! Looking good! You got it, dragons are easy fries for you!
    10:23 Well, at least it is a pawn's drug.
    10:44 And the other helping wheel for training Perfect Block
    10:54 More drugs!
    12:03 For these last four I imagine something like this: A warrior is channeling Arc and then an earthquake strickes. The warrior is just standing there yelling on top of his lungs of the damage he takes and still charges.
    13:30 This is not fair! The magick one is 15% weaker!
    14:35 Only the Spamwitch can use poison and be good.
    Good and informative video!
    Also sorry for being MIA for so long. I still have much work to do until the end of next week. But the good part is that it's getting better. I have done most of my finals and I just have two projects to do. Almost done!

      Several Harrys later. yaha. Invisibility cloak, Right?
      Yep they get nihiled. or maybe it's nihil'd. maybe nilled, nope, spell correction doesn't like any of these options.
      Drugs. Brainwashing. whatever we call it, it is happening to thousand pawns on a daily basis. The Illuminati is real
      "But without fitness how will I look good for the babes?" There it is. There's your gem. the perfect comment that gets me to laugh for a long duration.
      "Lefties." smiles with a gentle nod to he who spoke it.
      Is that is? 4 Sorcerer pawns are intimidating the Clerk into providing a discount? He scurries as he shovels free armor their way, just so they don't throw a Toxic Spamwich in his face. :) haha
      Yes, Super Mario was a memorable one.
      The level 3 Armors are the Cursed BBI Armor Lv3. Like the Oblivion set or the Carrion set.
      I/U did pretty well. A bit of a show off though.
      Equanimty did get the shaft. 15% is pretty weak for such a handicap.
      Nice to hear about your success and smooth progress with everything. The prepared always fair better.

    Hey Nihil, dunno if you know it or not but i read on the wiki that with the augment "leg strenth" there is actually a hidden level of capacity. If you are already very light and use this augment you are in a "extreme light" mode, but i think stamina usage and all that is copied from "Very light" the only thing that changes is your movement speed which is increased by like 5%.. so not all that significant but still.. just to let you know :P

    I changed the order of both my Ranger’s and Strider’s augments and people who hired them noticed an immediate difference, so thank you.
    Quick question: If Oblivion Hood (‘Increases Strength when noticed by large group of enemies’) is worn by a Strider in addition to Vehemence and Clout augments will the pawn get even more boost to damage while climbing? Is the cap based on the pawn’s base strength or after all strength boosting items are added to that ie Framae Blades, Oblivion Hood, etc. I’d like your thoughts. This would really help me explain it to a few people. Thanks in advance

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  5 лет назад +4

      Armor boosts are applied with the consideration of innate stats, augments and weapons. The augments have a cap of 80, but the 10% boost from the helmet is after total. So if you have 500 stat, 1500 weapon and 80 cap from augs, you will still get an additional from the helmet.
      But also, Strider already gets a 50% boost while climbing. This used to be added as part of the 80 cap, but recently a patch fixed it to where Strider can get still a 50 boost while climbing, even with a 80 cap from augs.

    Really don't like how long it takes to escape a grapple without egression. Feels like the game was designed around having that equipped, but if you play it safe or have pawns open chests, it only sometimes comes up. Usually it's still faster to let pawns smack the person grabbing you, unless it's a garm, but that's it.

    Never knew that Bastion and most other augments affected pawn AI. I have a sorc pawn with Bastion and Fortitude. Is that why he keeps going into melee instead of charging his powerful spells? For example, when a goblin tries to sound a horn, he will literally walk up to that goblin to spam normal attacks trying cancel the horn and fail miserably. It's not actually a chance to debilitate with any of the status effects, it's a build up. Without morbidity, it takes around 3-4 arrows to proc blindness on one of the oxen outside Gran Soren. With Morbidity, it takes only 2. It was consistent, each and every time. I'm only saying 3-4 cause my memory on it is a little fuzzy, but yeah, it's a build up, not a chance. Also, don't ask why I was testing this on those defenseless cows.

    @BooDawggs 6 лет назад

    I played DA back when it was first released on the ps3; I didn’t realize how just much augments affected your pawns behaviour patterns. I recently started a MA, using your 606/605 build. If I run my pawn as a ranger, is their a set-up in which she can play as both a ranged, as well a close combat tactician (one in which she knows the difference between, and when to use them properly)........Or maybe; I should roll her as a warrior, and give her the “stamina hammer “, and let her collect agro. ‘Not sure if that’s the correct term’.
    As an Assassin, I might be able to try training her in Ranger combat tactics. I don’t plan on playing either fighter, or warrior, until my character is maxed.

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  6 лет назад

      You can get a Ranger to do both, but the Inclinations will be more important than the augments. Maybe one augment that encourages Bow use, like Trajectory, or Precision, or Damping, and one augment for up close, such as Bastion, or ferocity.
      Aggro Warrior is an awesome choice too. Stamina Hammer is pretty affective. Bastion, and Egression.
      Assassin would be able to train a Ranger, and a Warrior or Fighter as well, but not as easily as a Ranger.

    • @BooDawggs
      @BooDawggs 6 лет назад

      Thanks for the quick reply. I’m thinking that an agro-warrior is better for early game; whereas a Ranger would be more beneficial for the latter game. In your opinion, which inclinations would you suggest : scather, challenger........challenger, mitigator .......or something else. I understand that the order of inclinations is important; does the same rule apply towards your pawns augmentations; do they have to be placed in the order in which you would prefer combat to occur: ranged vs close quarter.

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  6 лет назад +1

      For Ranger, I would say either Mitigator or Challenger as Primary. Utilitarian as Secondary, and either Mitigator or Challenger as Tertiary. You can try Utilitarian as Primary, but from my observations that confuses Ranger as to use Daggers or Bow, and they tend to spam dodge roll until they find their spot. Like a dog, when he circles the sofa 17 times before he lies down.
      For Warrior, ….. well, any are pretty good, except Aquisitor, or Nexus, and sometimes Guardian. Scather would be good as Secondary, Challenger would be as Primary or Secondary. Pioneer, could be good as Secondary or Tertiary. Utilitarian could be good as Secondary or Tertiary.
      There are really lots of options. it will take trial and error with focused observations and comparisons. But you will notice differences, and then it will click when you see it.

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  3 года назад

      Ferocity isn't counted or considered with the 80 cap. Exhileration, Clout, Autonomy and Vehemence, Opportunism and Eminence are all considered with the 80 cap because they have visual numbers applied, but Ferocity is only applied to Core attacks. So it breaks the through the 80 cap.
      Another thing is a Character 80 cap and an enemy debilitation cap and an item cap. Each are seperate. Character are tge augments, enemy are things like Curse or Defense lowered and items are the periapts and maybe the Force Hatchet too. So you could have 80 from augments, a cursed and lowered defense on enemy and still get 4 periapts.
      As for which augment is removed, it may have been fixed but it used to remove the entire augment if you exceded rather than the remaining percentage.

      My arisen equipped Vehemence, Clout, Bloodlust, Autonomy and those augments are exceed the 80% cap(×1.9008)
      But they don't drop any of them and just work as 80%
      So if pawn's augments exceed 80% cap, i don't think they drop one of them

      you mentioned in the Video at 14:40 it´ll encourage the pawn to use skills that are ideal to debilitate. does this only count for skills and not spells? high Silentium and high Blearing were just examples, i thought they could have a nice range and short cast time to inflict Torpor on many enemies. sadly my pawn cant get Magnitude cause he cant switch to magick archer.

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  6 лет назад +1

      Oh yeah, right. Morbidity does increase the chance with using a rusted staff on focused bolt. Or with rusted Archstaff. The spell Silentium will not be increased, but if a Golden staff (upgraded) is used will silence faster. A golden staff and Silentium should increase compared to a normal staff and Silentium.
      I haven't tested the debilitating staves too much

    I see what would be the ideal ranger pawn augment Then? I was think of this.
    Clout
    Vehemence
    Temerity
    Trajectory
    Endurance
    Proficiency?

    • @domsupnet9003
      @domsupnet9003 6 лет назад +1

      or I guess impact would be better than proficiency right?

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  6 лет назад +2

      I think the first way is possibly better, or at least barbed Nails are better than Impact. Try that Augment list out for a bit, and see if your pawn improves. Tinker with stamina augs and bow augs until you find that perfect motivation. But, I think that setup should do pretty well.

      Nihil0.0 thanks I've been playing dragons dogma since it first came out but I've only discovered your channel a week ago. You opened up my eyes on the possibilities of this game. Thanks and keep it up with these amazing videos!

    • @Nihil0.0

      Upon further thought. Proficiency would possibly make your pawn want to use Daggers more, so maybe leave Proficiency off.

      Nihil0.0 also what skill set do you think goes well with ranget pawns? My set up on me are
      Hundred kisses
      Dazzle blast
      Instant reset
      Deathly arrow
      Tenfold
      Crippling

    buddy do u have any video about best weapons and armor and gear .... for each vocation? i saw in some of ur videos u change ur weapons few times in middle of the fight. i am curious about ur weapon u used for different attack?

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  6 лет назад

      Nah, I don't have any of those vids. I leave that to Wh1sper. I do have all of the Black Cat gear video.
      ruclips.net/video/3CgtJZDd-AM/видео.html&t
      I usually like to take only one weapon with me. But I do sometimes take multiple Daggers, with different Elemental enchantments, or as Mystic Knight with the Elemental weapons.
      Good weapons are the Rusted Bows for Topror, Golden weapons for Silence, and then for BBI, Ice, Holy, Lightning, Fire, and Dark all have great use. For me, for Physical attack, I like to keep the numbers at a balance for enemy defense, and challenge. In Gransys, I like to have around 700 strength. For BBI, I like to have around 2000 physical strength attack, except for Daimon's Second form, that usually requires 2500 to do sufficient damage. These numbers make me carry what adds to those numbers. I am a victim of fashion dogma, and I like how the Criteria look, the only Short bow that I like the look of is Darkening Storm, but it is often just too powerful. I like the look of the Cutless sword and the Carnation. Shield is the feather light Pelta. Mag Shield is Thunder Kite Shield. Steel Great Sword is a favorite for Two Handers. Magian Crutch for the Spellbow, I think all of the other Spellbows are ugly as shit. But if you are looking for the most Powerful, then you're asking the wrong guy.
      Magic Archer does great with Enchanted Daggers. Any enchantment will do, it's the Elemental Skill that applies.
      For Warrior I always go for Stagger and Knockdown over strength, so I tend to like the Warhammers for it's Stagger capabilities.
      Mystic Knight, I like to have each Element, so I need 4 different weapons usually. Totem Mace, Font of fire or Eden's Warden, Almace, and the caladbolg.
      As Ranger I will always have Rusted Daggers, and the bow just varies. I like the Rusted Long Bow for the Specialty arrows, and for looks.... eh, they all look ugly to me.
      The Black Cat has awesome weapons that I really love the mechanics of. Force Hatchet, Caged Fury, and Iraklis are very cool.

      and buddy i saw u put in sleep monsters very easy and then only with few hits u kill most dangerous monsters in bbi, so interested and nice strategy , i think u use rusted bow for sleeping monsters and then u finish them with ur daggers. are u use some special augments too or not? i wish before u start the video, u could show ur level and equipment and augments or other info. some ordinary player like me can use ur experience a lot my friend. thanks again for ur time. good luck buddy.

    • @Nihil0.0

      Enemies take extra damage in sleep status.
      Most of my videos I show the weapons and stats in the beginning. At least for the run videos. If the video says part1, I show all of that. Videoes like this, are more about info and the combat is just filler for the video.
      But you can see inventory in all of the part1 videoes of each specific run, like 100% Strider, or Dark Element only Mystic Knight. My vocation libraries have those videoes.

      @@Nihil0.0 I'm not sure myself... I just want my pawn to use devastating spells that uses less stamina and fast casting, perhaps no knockbacks while casting heal. I'm actually aiming to be Magick Archer by the end of the game, but I'm more worried about my pawn than my avatar.

    • @Nihil0.0
      @Nihil0.0  5 лет назад

      Conservation augment is better than any of the stamina augments. Ogre's bone rings are better than Gravitas augment. Grit augment (Ranger) is awesome. If you want some more stamina level the pawn as Ranger a bit. If you want some physical defense, level as Fighter a bit.
